The weather was simply wonderful. The sun didn't heat too much and gave a nice, warm light. The cloudless sky with a pale blue shade didn't promise rain. A gentle breeze blew slightly, giving a pleasant coolness.

Maka was standing in the window of her room, watching the people, who had been lured into the streets by an enjoyable day. She would have joined the group of the walkers herself, but she was too tired to stand up straight. An hour ago she had returned from an all-night mission, which resulted in a dull headache and an overwhelming urge to go to sleep. However, she knew that even if she lay down, she wouldn't sleep a wink. She was still anxious after another oh-so-wise act of courage (or rather stupidity) of Soul, which almost ended up with his death, or at least a few days in the hospital. She didn't want to think, what would have happened, if she hadn't stopped him in time…

Now Soul slept deeply on her bed, completely unconcerned with the stress he caused his partner- in both senses of this word. Maka sighed and sat down beside him. She brushed her hand through his hair tenderly.

"Idiot," she whispered in a trembling voice. "I was so afraid for you… You probably don't even know how much. Why did you do this? To show off in front of me? I love you alive and reasonable, not dead and throwing yourself at a much stronger opponent."

Suddenly, Soul rose to an upright position and hugged her with a loving gesture.

"You are awake?" Maka jumped up and turned all red. She looked so cute… Soul couldn't help himself and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

"I love you too." He pulled her closer to him.

"If you think that I stopped getting angry at you, then you are wrong," she muttered but her loud beating heart spoke for itself.
