Four Years Later

Hiccup and his Dragon Riders dove down blasting the Hunter ships. For four years Hiccup collected Dragon Riders and raided Viggo's forces freeing dragons. Now they attacking a convoy of three ships. The riders took out the Ballistaes and catapults before landing on the ships. Hiccup blocked a blow with his shield before Toothless knocked the hunter off the ship. The pair went down the deck to find five Hunters. Toothless fired a blast in front of them knocking them down. Hiccup raced to the cage and unlocked them. The captive dragons ran out to their freedom as Hiccup jumped on Toothless's saddle. The two raced out of the ship with the dragons and the riders followed from the smoking ships. The pack of dragons went one way, while the Riders flew back to the Dragon's Edge.

Later that Day

"Good run guys." Hiccup said as the Riders landed at their stable. As Hiccup got off Toothless, a Night Terror rushed past to meet with Dalla Geird as she go off her Shovelhelm, Storm

"Hey Fay." Dalla greeted the dragon as it jumped into her arms. She pet the small dragon while Storm walked into her stall to eat some fish.

"Alfgeir, did you get anything from the captain's quarters?" Hiccup asked Dalla's brother as his Boneknapper, Boneback searched around a patch of grass near the stable.

"Yep." Alfgeir answered as he opened his satchel. Boneback flew up to the landing strip and dropped a piece of large bone on the wood. The Dragon Rider grabbed the bone with both hands and threw it to the patch of grass. Boneback glided to it to look for it. Alfgeir opened the bag again and handed Hiccup a map. Hiccup looked at the map to see dragon migration paths, nests, and common places to find them.

"Good job." Hiccup replied as Boneback flew back to the stable. He dropped the bone and Alfgeir scratched its chin. The Boneknapper rolled onto its back wagging its tail in the air. Darkdrum took off as Aron Jokulson put the Thunderdrum's saddle on the wall. Hiccup was proud of what he built here. As he exited the stable through the cliff door, Heather greeted him. Heather was the leader of the Auxiliary Rider Team. "Why do I have a bad feeling about this?"

"Terrible terror message. From Viggo." Heather answered as she handed Hiccup the scroll. He opened it to see a message from the Hunter. A message for a truce. He marked a small island on the map for a meeting between Hiccup and Viggo alone in eight days time. "What should we do?"

Eight Days Later

Hiccup glided over the small island and noticed it was nearly flat with no hidden caves or caverns. As he looked through the lenses of his spyglass, he saw a man sitting at a table with a Maces and Talons board. But the man was surrounded by a patch of Blue Oleanders. But there was a small area for one dragon to land safely. Hiccup looked carefully at the Hunter. A beaded man with spiked shoulder armor and a sword on his back. Viggo looked intently at the strategy game. He flew back to the Auxiliary team overlooking the island and reported what he found.

"So you have no choice but to land alone." Hild Boe remarked as her Monstrous Nightmare, huffed a puff of smoke.

"Which is why I'm going in alone." Hiccup said and Gerd Mordottir's Mudraker, Little Horn growled in disagreement.

"I'm with Little Horn. This is a bad idea." Heather remarked which Hiccup had to agree with. Viggo made sure that he couldn't bring more riders to the island.

"Yet we have no choice. We need to learn to figure out what Viggo is planning." Hiccup said as he dove down to the safe patch of grass. The Viking got off the Night Fury and walked through the field of blue flowers. This would be the first time Hiccup faces Viggo in person. As the Dragon Rider reached the Hunter, he saw that a Longship piece was in the Hunter's hand.

"I've wondered how long it was going to be until we meet young Hiccup." Viggo greeted as he put the piece back on the board. He picked up a Mace piece and knocked down his hunter pieces one by one. "I've lost many hunters as you and your Dragon Riders fought my fleet."

"So you want peace." Hiccup replied as Viggo was left with two hunter pieces.

"We both are strategists Hiccup. I'm the Viking Chief and you're the Chief of the Mauraders." Viggo remarked motioning to the two pieces on the board. "But unlike Maces and Talons, you choose to fight with the Dragon. Unlike any good player."

"That's because I learned how to respect them and they showed me respect. We trust each other." Hiccup said and Viggo grabbed the Traitor.

"Allying yourself with an enemy guarantees your destruction. Unless you strike first." Viggo replied placing the Traitor piece next to the board. Viggo grabbed a map from a bag under his chair. He unrolled it to show much of the world. "This little war of ours has been a distraction from a job I was hired to do."

"And that is?" Hiccup asked and Viggo chuckled.

"Now, now Hiccup, I can't tell you that." Viggo answered looking at the dragon piece with annoyance and a sense of something else. "But I will divide the world between us. I will be in the North with my hunters, while you will be in the South with your dragons. You will be safe and I can fulfill my employment with a warlord."

Hiccup studied the map. Many of the islands that sided with the Dragon riders were below the line just as Viggo planned. But that fact that Viggo planned it was what worried Hiccup. He thought the Hunter was planning something. In the corner, is Viggo's signature. All they need is Hiccup's signature, then there will be a truce. The fighting will be over, but the dragons in Viggo's territory will be in danger. Hiccup picked the map up and rolled it. He put it into a satchel and turned to Viggo.

"I need to think about this." Hiccup remarked and Viggo picked up the Cheif of the Mauraders piece.

"I understand. But my fleet will be in the North. Sign it or not. If you do sign it then I won't see you again. Don't sign it and I will hunt you and your dragons." Viggo said handing Hiccup the piece. Hiccup looked at the piece for a moment before putting it next to the board. Hiccup walked back to Toothless wondering what Viggo was planning.

That Night

"It's obviously a trap of some sort." Berg Makson the Loud remarked at the meeting of the Dragon Rider Teams leadership. Hiccup was there in command with Heater of the Auxiliary Team, Berg of the Battle Team, and Styr of the Calvery Team. Team B was helping the Defenders of the Wing repeal a Hunter assault while Team C was hunting down a Hunter convoy when a Terrible Terro reached them. Those two teams had their own headquarters apart from the Dragon Edge, but when something big happens, they come to help Hiccup.

"But what is Viggo wanting?" Styr asked as he turned the map around, revealing burn scars from his cloak. He was wounded by a Monstrous Nightmare, and it was amazing when he bonded with his Triple Stryke, Sky Smasher. "These islands he wants offer him nothing in dragons of worth or ease of capture. Nor valuable resources."

"Then perhaps we send a scout team to see what he's hiding?" Heather suggested and Hiccup saw the value of that plan.

"But there is one thing I wonder about. This client who hired the Hunters. Who is he?" Styr asked and Hiccup rubbed his chin wondering who it was.

"Perhaps that is why he wants the North. To do this job and keep us from finding out what is going on." Heather suggested and Hiccup knew that this was just a delaying tactic.

"Berg, get three Riders ready to head North on a stealth mission." Hiccup ordered and the Chief of Wilder Island nodded in agreement.

Next Morning

Tofa Makson loaded supplies on her Monstrous Nightmare, Bright. She was leading Kolbein Lodin and Fin Eidson North on a scouting mission. Her husband chose her because of the woman's experience in a mission like this. Tofa watched as Kolbein hug his sister Osk before jumping on his Deadly Nadder. As Tofa jumped on her saddle, Berg and her daughter, Luta walked to her. Luta pat the dragon before hugging her mother. Berg kissed his wife on the cheek and the two gave a silent nod for her safe return. Tofa looked at the sky as the three Riders flew North.

Five Days Later

After several days of flying, exploring, mapping, and avoiding Hunter ships they reached a new frozen island. They landed on the snow and walked into a cave system, swords drawn. They heard the noise of yells of orders and dragons screaming for freedom. Tofa signaled for the dragons to hold back while the humans advance to a cliff. They laid on the snow to see a massive fleet of large ships. Many were larger than Viggo's Hunters. But what intrigued her the most was the bubbling pool in the center of the fleet. Chains were attached from the biggest ship to the bubbles. Tofa wondered what was going on. As she pulled out a spyglass, she saw a man in dark robes watching his forces.

"What is this?" Fin whispered.

"Bad news." Kolbein answered as Tofa noticed the fleet's massive weapons move. It took a few seconds to notice their target, them.

"Run." she ordered the three managed to make before arrows and flaming boulders smash the cliff. The cave began to collapse and the dragons eagerly await their riders. Tofa got on her dragon, Fin's Snaptrapper, Gust lifted him up, but Kolbein fell down a broken hole and his Deadly Nadder, Needle dove to save him. The two Riders were forced out of the cave as the enemy fleet kept their barrage. As they exited the cave, Tofa saw two metal armored dragons flying towards them. Bright fired a blast of heat in vain. The armored dragons rammed the dragons into the snow, knocking the Riders off. Tofa grabbed a Nip Bomb from her belt and tossed it at the dragon over Bright. It sniffed the Nip and it backed up dazed. The second armored dragon was trying to hold the Snaptrap down, but it was resiting. Bright lit herself on fire and breathed fire at the armored dragon. If was forced back giving Fin time to jump on his dragon. When Bright scale stopped burning, Tofa jumped on and the two Riders fled. Tofa looked back to see if Kolbein was following them. A hope that brought nothing.

Four Days Later

Hiccup was writing when he heard it. Dragons crashing into the Edge. In an instant Hiccup rushed out of his hut with Toothless behind to see Tofa and Fin back without Kolbein. Hiccup jumped on the in motion Toothless and they glided down to the Riders. When they landed, Hiccup saw claw marks on the dragons. He helped up an exhausted Tofa as other Riders rushed to help. Heather and Gerd helped bandage the dragon's wounds. Berg and Luta arrived to help Tofa as Raganfast Omen helped Fin. Moments later, Hiccup saw a worried Osk holding back tears. She looked at Tofa and the woman shook her head. Osk fell to her knees with tears rolling down. Eirik Vog helped her up and Hiccup needed to know what happened.

"It was an army massing far North. A fleet that outnumbered the Hunters, ships larger than anything the hunters have, and dragons under their control." Tofa reported to Hiccup as Luta bandaged the Chieftess's arm. Hiccup looked out of the meeting hall, to the sea. This new threat is the reason for all this fighting. Why Viggo offered Hiccup a chance at peace. To keep him away.

"Anything else?" Hiccup asked.

"They have something I've never seen before. It might be a new dragon." Tofa reported and Hiccup looked at her as she shared her story. After the story, he rubbed his chin.

"What do we do now?" Styr asked from the corner of the hall.

"We gather our forces. Strike Hunter Island and bring them down. Then we find the whole truth." Hiccup said knowing that they were going to war.
