When Izuku got home, all he wanted to do was crawl into his bed and cry. Honestly, if he wasn't so numb right now he'd be amazed he hadn't already. Today was undoubtedly the worst day of his life. But he couldn't break down now. If he did, his mom would come home and see him crying. Then she'd want to know what happened and Izuku wouldn't be able to lie to her. If he told her, she'd blame herself for never noticing. Izuku didn't want that. His mom was the only person who cared about him. She didn't deserve his problems on top of everything else she had to deal with because of him.

Izuku sighed and looked at the ruined notebook in his hands. Might as well try and rewrite it while he could. He did tell himself he would do that when he got home. Except when he opened the door to his room and saw All Might staring at him from every inch of his room, he froze. Those words echoed in his head again. No. Izuku couldn't do this. He couldn't stay in that room. Not now.

It took what remained of his willpower to walk into the room, keeping his head down and focused onto his shoes, and grab a spare notebook from his bookshelf. Izuku left the room as if he had been burned, the door closing behind him harshly. He spent a minute catching his breath in the hallway, trying to calm down and drown out that stupid phrase.

In the end, he only succeeded by thinking of something else. Or rather, not thinking at all. The methodical scratch of pencil on paper was soothing in a way. And seated at the kitchen table, Izuku could pretend everything was fine. Nothing bad had ever happened to him in the kitchen. Quite the opposite, as he had many good memories of cooking with his mom. They drowned out the bad memories while he was there.

The next hour was spent carefully copying all the ruined notes onto fresh paper. Izuku didn't even realize he was finished until he turned the page on Mt. Lady's entry and saw it. All Might's signature. At first, Izuku was confused. How did he get All Might's autograph? He didn't remember the hero signing it. Unless All Might did it while he was unconscious? But that's ridiculous! What type of hero would sign an autograph while the victim had passed out during a villain attack? Not only was that negligent, it was just plain idiotic! Though All Might had already proven once today that he wasn't the hero Izuku thought he was.

Before his thoughts could continue to spiral further, he heard the front door open and his mom step inside. She called out a greeting, which Izuku returned. He heard her set her purse and keys in their usual places, then the quieter sounds of her putting on her house slippers. A few seconds later she was stepping into the kitchen.

Izuku greeted his mother with a smile, like he always did when she came home. But instead of returning the smile, Inko frowned. She hurried across the kitchen to stand in front of her son.

"What's wrong Izuku?"

Izuku was a fool to think he could hide something like this from his mom. Little things, like Kacc-Bakugo and the bullies at school, he could hide. He's been hiding that since he was four years old. But today was different. Today his entire worldview had been shifted. Izuku only needed one look at his Mom's eyes, so full of worry and love for him, before he broke.

He told her everything. How he almost died because of the slime villain. How All Might saved him, then crushed his dream. He told her about the bullies at school. About Bakugo. Everything.

And Inko listened to every word. She held her son close, comforting him as he cried. Then she apologized through her own tears, because she never noticed the pain Izuku was feeling. She was a horrible mother. Izuku was quick to shut down that train of thought.

"No way Mom!" her little boy had exclaimed, fresh tears rolling down his freckled cheeks. "If it wasn't for you, I would have given up a long time ago! You are the only person who has ever cared about me! You could have done what anyone else would have done after learning I was Quirkless. Instead, you raised me. Loved me. Even though it must have been so, so hard for you too. You gave me the strength to keep going, day after day. You are the best mother anyone could ever have. Don't ever think of yourself as a failure again!" Izuku demanded.

Inko had nothing to say in response. She simply gathered Izuku back into her arms, taking comfort in her son just as much as he took comfort in her embrace.

Today had been a roller coaster of emotions and hardships. But tomorrow was a new day. Both Mother and Son will face tomorrow head on. Together.

I know I said I wasn't planning on updating this any time soon, but I accidentally left the notebook where I work on my fics at my brother's house and couldn't work on the other fics I was planning to. This was one of the few I had on my phone already so I decided to work on this. The chapter was already halfway finished, so I ended up completing it. Figured I might as well, since I was in a motivated mood and I had already finished two other chapters the day before for other fics. I just need to finish typing those up and I'll have them posted later on today. Until then, enjoy this chapter! I still don't intend on working on this for awhile but I'll be working on it off and on when the mood hits.
