Chapter 4:

Hello guys, gals and non-binary pals!

Quick Note: Please Read, PLEASE STOP spoiling the Manga in the Reviews. As I stated, I don't read the Manga, and neither does everyone on this site, so the Manga spoilers in the Reviews could really ruin moments for anyone checking them out, including myself.

If you want to speculate on the timeline beyond what I have stated, you can always PM me. But I'll give a quick summary so people aren't confused, as I didn't fully explain when this story takes place.

Izuku and his classmates are all ~27 years old, give or take when their birthdays are. Making them ~12-13 years older than the Anime/Manga. Rumi, on the other hand, is currently de-aged and only 31. Making her only 4 years older than Izuku, much younger than canon.

Rumi IS the Number Four hero, but has only been in the top ten for a few years. For the Manga readers asking if the thing that happened to her in the manga has happened, I will say it has not. I won't go into specifics so I don't spoil anime onlys. As for things that have happened to other characters in manga canon, if it hasn't been explicitly stated in this story, it hasn't happened. So please don't spoil in the Reviews anymore.

Anyway, that's enough of that. I'm glad you all like the story and left reviews, and I'm not mad, far from it, I just don't want people to be spoiled. I'm spoiled all the time with thumbnails and video titles on YouTube, and I hate it.

Let's get on with chapter 4!

Sometimes you just have to go on a date with a chocolate bunny

Chapter 4:

[the next day]

[Usagiyama: r u ready 4 our date Izuku?]

[Usagiyama: u better be. or else i'll kick ur ass]

[Usagiyama: just like i will in our spar {kiss emoji} ]

Izuku smiled, reading Rumi's texts were a good way to relax after a hectic day of patrols. Thinking of the chocolate bunny, he should probably update her contact info from 'Usagiyama' to 'Rumi'. Checking the time, he saw he had two hours until his unexpected date with Rumi. Doing the mental math, he figured out how long it would take him to get ready and drive there. While he waited, he checked his work phone, and instantly deflated.

[Takahashi: You have thirteen hero team up requests for the next week, I have already whittled it down from fifty-two. The Emperor requested a call back later today, I told him you would be available anytime after seven.]

Izuku let out a low growl. That asshole. Takahashi knew he was taking tonight off, he had told him late last night, not that his PR rep liked it much. But Izuku had put his foot down and said he was taking the night off. And now Takahashi was scheduling him to call the Emperor? This wasn't like a call with the Chief of Police or another hero or something, this was the Emperor, you can't just cancel a call with him.

Deciding to not let Takahashi ruin his night on purpose, Izuku called the Emperor early, or technically he called his assistant early, as you can't just call the Emperor directly.

Which is why he arrived at his date with Rumi fifteen minutes late.

"Oi! Greenbean! Yer late." She had a fake scowl on her face, or, Izuku hoped it was fake.

"Sorry, Rumi," He apologized, rubbing the back of his head. "I had an unscheduled call with the Emperor."

"Well you need to learn to take a break from work-" she suddenly stopped, her eyes opening wide. "Wait, did you just say you were calling the Emperor?"

"Uh, yeah?"

"The Emperor?" She asked, disbelieving.

"How many Emperors do we have?"

"I don't know," she said. "I'm only the Number Four hero, I'm not the Number One who apparently has the Emperor on speed dial."

"I don't have the Emperor on speed dial-"

She cut him off. "Do you have the Prime Minister on speed dial too?" He was silent, looking sheepish. "Oh, for crying out loud. I was being sarcastic! You have the Prime Minister on speed dial? Why?"

Izuku shrugged. "You know, whenever there's a big, and I mean really big, emergency, I might have to call him. Or him call me. I don't know, I guess it's just a thing that happens when you're the Number One."

"Jeez, rub your rank in my face, why don't ya!" She gave a wicked smile, letting him know she was joking. "Meh, I don't even want his phone number anyway. If I'm honest, I don't even know who our Prime Minister is, and I've only seen the Emperor like once or twice, tops."

Izuku was just about to ask how that was even possible when she suddenly grabbed his wrist. "Enough of that boring work crap!" She cried, smiling. "Let's go have some fun and sing some songs~!" She sang.

Izuku's stomach dropped. Sing? He spun around to read the sign on the building they were about to enter. In his mad rush to get over here as soon as possible, he had somehow neglected to find out exactly what the place was, only reading the address. But before him was his biggest fear;

Karaoke.

"...Oh no." Izuku deflated.

"Oh yes~!" Rumi sang, a massive grin on her face. "I'm ready to have some fun!"

~Izuku x Rumi Page Break~

Rumi plopped down next to him on the plush bench, microphone still in hand and utterly exhausted from her opening performance.

Who knew Rumi could sing like a goddess while also being funny, beautiful and buff? Izuku had been so awe-struck for the entire song, she had hit all the notes perfectly, danced to the beat, and belted out all the lyrics with such charisma and confidence that Izuku wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't secretly written it herself. And he had a feeling his jaw was still on the floor.

She looked at him questioningly, still trying to catch her breath, brushing her hair back. "Was that too much?"

"That was amazing!" He could stop himself as he gushed over her performance. "You got every word right, and your dance was so good, and that flip at the end was amazing!"

She gave a timid smile that quickly turned into a grin. "Wow, now I know that if I ever need an ego boost, to call you up." She laughed, rising and grabbing his arm. "Now, come on, it's your turn~!"

Oh no.

Catastrophe. Sheer, unadulterated mayhem. A crime against nature. An insult to the writer and singer of the song, and everyone across the world throughout time who loved the song. That's how Izuku would have described his attempt to sing the song.

Rumi had described it as "cute, but in a dorky kind of way". So he took what he got.

After Rumi sang a few more songs and shoved her musical talent in his face, they headed to the open bar, trying to take best advantage of their limited time off hero work.

"Man," Rumi said as she knocked back a shot glass. "That was the most fun I've had in years."

"Sorry I didn't sing more."

"Meh," she waved the comment off, unbothered. She smirked. "Some of us just aren't blessed with my skills."

"That must be it." He smiled as well, taking a sip of his own alcohol. The taste was odd on his tongue, he hadn't drunk more than a few customary drinks of sake or champagne at meetings or official hero galas. And he would only politely sip his drink when others were watching, and would pour it out with unseen speed when no one was looking. So the cheap alcohol tasted weird on his tongue. But good.

"Hey, Izuku, I got a question for you."

"Yes?" He asked as he took a sip.

"Want to do something fun?"

Without even debating himself, he said, "Yeah."

"Good answer." She slammed back her drink, rising. "Come on, we're leaving."

"Where are we going?"

"Nuh, uh." She grinned, then winked. "You'll see, if you're good."

What did that mean?

"Um, o-okay?"

She giggled, actually giggled. "You're cute when you're all dorky. Come on." She pulled him out of the room. Izuku barely managed to leave a tip for the bartender at the last second, giving the man an apologetic look. "Did you drive here?"

"No." Izuku told her. "I planned to, but because my call ran late-"

"You're call with the Emperor." She cut in.

"-Yeah, the Emperor." He continued. "I jumped here."

"That makes it easy," She said, pulling him into the parking lot. "We can take my car."

"Are you going to tell me where we're going?"

"Nah, it'll be more fun this way."

He should've figured.

She stopped in front of an unassuming sporty car, the only notable features was a sticker of a rabbit holding up a middle finger on the back windshield and a stuffed carrot hanging from the rear-view mirror. Yup, that seemed like Rumi.

They climbed in and Rumi started digging through the back seat looking for something that obviously wasn't there. "Oh, come on! Where is that little fucker? Oh! I remember now!" She reached over and started digging into the small glove box. "There it is~!"

She pulled out a black sports bra and tossed it onto his lap. "Put that on."

Izuku's eyes went so wide he worried they'd break off his face. Just what kind of place was she taking him to?!

"What?!"

She gave him an 'are you an idiot?' look. "Put it on your face, idiot. I don't have any blindfolds. That'll have to do."

"But- why?"

"Because I'm taking you to my secret lair," she said with all the seriousness of Endeavor. "And I can't let you know where it is, or else I'd have to kill you. No matter how adorkable you are."

Izuku just looked to the chocolate bunny with a look of sheer confusion, not knowing what to say or what to believe. "...Eh?"

"Just put the bra on your face already." She ordered. "'Cuz I'm not going anywhere until you do."

He looked down to the sports bra in his lap as if it was a deadly cobra. Why did it have to be a bra? Not like a cloth or even an extra shirt or something? It had to be a bra of the woman he was dating?

"Um… does it have to be this-"

"Unless you want the one I'm wearing right now." She cut him off with a grin, "But the lace is a bit see-through, so that probably won't be as effective."

What was this conversation right now?

Izuku didn't know what just happened, his mind must have short circuited or something, but before he knew it, the bra was covering his eyes and they were on their way who-knows-where.

~Izuku x Rumi Page Break~

As it turned out, Rumi's 'secret lair' was just an old gym she worked out in that she didn't want the public to know about, as they would certainly never leave her alone.

Parking, Rumi told him to take the bra off. He followed her in the back door, to which she had the key, to, and followed her inside. "The owner is an old friend of my dad," she said in way of explanation.

Izuku still didn't see why he had to wear the bra over his eyes on the way here, as the address for the building was visible on the side of the wall and street signs were on full display for all to see. Rumi probably just wanted to mess with him, and from the grin she was wearing even now, he was right.

"Alright, dork," She said the word with affection, so Izuku wasn't insulted. "Fight me!"

"Wha-?"

"Fight me!" She repeated, and only now did Izuku understand. They were in a gym. He could see an old American-style boxing ring just behind them. Her intention was clear as day.

"Um, I don't think-"

"Without Quirks." She cut in, sensing his train of thought. "Like we talked about. Oh what? You talked all big and bad before, but is the Number One Hero now afraid of a challenge?" She mocked. "Afraid I'll kick yer ass?"

A competitive fire lit inside Izuku. "You're on." He told her. "Just don't take it personally when I beat you."

Her ears perked up. "Oh? Is that a challenge?"

"Yeah, it is."

She grinned, punching one hand into her other. "Wanna make it interesting?"

Izuku's brow rose. "Oh?"

"The winner gets to tell the loser to do anything they wish for the rest of the day." Her eyes lit up with devilish glee. "Anything."

Now that was something Izuku would be interested in.

He knew Rumi was fully confident in her ability to beat him, or else she was playing mind games, and wanted him to him? No, no, she wasn't the type of girl that was willing to lose. Or was she? "You're on."

"Then let's get started already!" She proceeded to promptly take off her clothes.

Izuku averted his eyes out of reflex, mind flashing to that incident during his third year in the girls' hot springs bath. Don't ask. "Gah!"

"Oh grow up." She smirked, moving slower despite him looking the other way. "You expect me to fight in a mini skirt? Yeah, not gonna happen. I can barely move in this thing."

Izuku could hear clothes shuffling, and he tried to not imagine which ones they were.

"Take yer clothes off already, Izuku." She told him, her voice laced with extra spice just to rile him up for no reason. "You gonna fight in those dress clothes?"

Izuku had fought several times in dress clothes before. But those had been custom made and custom fitted 'combat dress clothes' by Mei. Those clothes could withstand a rocket launcher or a Bengal Tiger and come out of the fight unscathed. Don't ask. While these dress clothes he bought this morning just for this date, were already threatening to tear at the seams every time he shifted his muscle.

But deciding 'why the hell not?', he started to unbutton his shirt. Rumi wolf whistled, which didn't help his reddening face. He decided to leave the pants on, however, mostly to make sure Rumi didn't see what this situation was doing to his lower extremity. He kicked off his shoes and for the first time in a few minutes, looked up at her.

"I'm ready." Then he caught sight of her, and his mind went blank for the hundredth time today. She was wearing a pair of briefs and the same sports bra she had made him wear on his face. She was absentmindedly tying her hair back.

Damn, sometimes Izuku wondered if this woman was actually trying to kill him.

She looked up and noticed him staring. A grin crept up her face. "Like what you see?"

Izuku didn't trust himself to form cohesive words, and he couldn't take his eyes away from her. Her hero costume wasn't exactly modest, but he was seeing far more of her skin than he had ever seen before. His body was getting all hot and his head all fuzzy. He told himself it was the alcohol, thought not even he believed it.

"Quit gawking." She told him, but had no real force in her tone. "If you can't keep focus, it won't be a challenge."

Izuku hadn't really heard her, instead was still taking her in. "Eh?"

She chuckled to herself, turning on the spot and heading to the boxing ring. "Come on, I want to see what the most powerful Quirk user in history can do without his Quirks."

Izuku followed her into the ring, only bumping into things twice because he was too distracted to look where he was going.

They faced each other in the ring, and Izuku tried his best to look her in the eye. "Alright," she said, counting on her fingers. "Here's the rules, plain and simple; One: no Quirks. Two: Don't go easy on each other. Three: No hitting below the belt." She grinned. "That one's mostly for you, dork."

"Thanks."

"Ready?"

"Ready to beat you and tell you what to do for the rest of the day."

Her grin morphed into one of a maniac. "I'd like to see you try." Her eyes flashed. "Once I win, I'll have the Number One at my beck and call for the rest of the day."

Izuku didn't rise to her words. "We'll see." Was all he said, and it seemed sufficient to piss her off even more.

"Come on, already!" She dropped into a fighting stance. "Let's do this!"

"If you're that eager to lose-" She didn't wait for him to finish, instead launching a powerful kick at his head. Izuku ducked and rolled on the spot, easily dodging her kick. Rumi was fast, but not as fast as his old mentor, Gran Torino.

She launched herself at him again, kicks missing his head by mere centimeters. He grabbed her ankle and pulled her in, planning to use his superior strength to grapple her. A kick to his stomach forced him to let go of her other leg.

Rumi landed several punches against his torso in the time it took him to recover. She wasn't Gran Torino or Iida fast, but she was still fast. He blocked and deflected her assault, swinging his elbow to meet her chin, correctly assuming it would make her back up.

They stood across from each other, neither breathing hard or breaking a sweat. They were pros, and the top two ranked melee fighters in Japan, with both Katsuki and Todoroki mostly using their Quirks to fight.

She flew at him again, choosing to be the aggressor in this fight, while Izuku stayed more on the defensive. He blocked her strike, attacking back with his own. She flew across the mat, rolling and coming to her feet with all the skill of a pro.

She grinned, wiping the blood from her nose. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think you put some of your Quirk into that punch." She dropped into her stance. "But you've finally decided to fight back, I like it."

She flew again and they were a flurry of limbs, each unable to land a decisive blow.

Rumi rolled around his bulk, aiming to strike his back, but Izuku was ready for her. He knew her fighting style, perhaps even better than herself.

"Not so fast!" He yelled, making her back away with a punch she narrowly dodged in time. Rumi watched him with caution, knowing that despite him not using his Quirk, that he could still deal a lot of damage with a single punch, even knock her out if he so chose. She doubted he would go so far in this friendly spar, but she didn't want to tempt fate.

"Don't underestimate me!" She roared, flying at him again. Her leg came up for a kick to the head, but at the least second she punched his liver, using her kick as a diversion.

Only years of training and pushing himself past his limits let Izuku stay on his feet. A decent liver shot was enough to drop most people, but one from the likes of Rumi was something else. Izuku pushed through the pain, raising his fists.

"You'll have to do better than that." He told her. "Aizawa punched us in the liver every day for a month straight for training."

"Sounds like a crazy person."

"He probably was." Izuku admitted, readying himself for whatever has about to come.

"But yer still standin'", she said, impressed. "So he must have done a good job."

"I guess all that pain was worth it."

"Enough talk," she said. "Both of us are still standin', the spar isn't over yet."

"Suit yourself." He told her. "You've hit me plenty, I've landed one good hit, but you're the only one bleeding."

She snarled, leaping at him with savage fury. He blocked her kick at the last second, expecting another ploy. His knee impacted her gut, launching her back into the ropes again.

"Had enough yet?" He said a little rudely, only trying to rile her up for the spar.

"Not even fucking close." She growled, returning to her stance. "I've just been going easy on you."

"So have I," he said. Earning her ire. It was true, of course, but they both were. Neither wanted to truly hurt the other, so they were both holding back. "Funny how much you're holding back, though."

"Oh, that is it!" She kicked him again, but her foot found his forearm and was deflected the other direction. She spun, punching at his unprotected stomach. She only got two quick hits in before he punched her away again. It seemed like it was part of his plan. Rumi didn't know what he was thinking, but knew he had to have a plan.

"Are you gonna just stand there, or are you actually gonna attack me?" She asked with visible annoyance. "Every time you get a hit in, you just stand there, instead of capitalizing on the moment." She growled. "You're underestimating me."

"I don't want to actually hurt you." He admitted.

"I'm a big girl," she said. "I can take it."

"I know that." He replied. "That's the problem."

"Eh?"

"I'm not fighting back seriously because of how strong you are." He told her. "If I fought you at the level you're fighting me, we'd both increase our power to get the upperhand. And, if we did that, one of us would end up getting seriously hurt."

Rumi groaned, dropping her stance. She understood where he was coming from, even if she didn't like it. It was true, every time he hit her, she knew how much he was holding back. He hit her just hard enough to knock the air out of her lungs, but not hard enough to actually hurt her. She probably should have expected this. He was a good guy, a gentleman. She'd have to strip him of that nature later, though.

"Thirty seconds." She said suddenly.

"Hm?"

"Thirty seconds." She repeated. "How about we fight for thirty seconds. Not seriously, but just under there? Can you swing that, Number One?"

He debated it in his head for a few seconds, seemingly weighing the odds. Finally, he must had decided she could take care of herself, because he agreed. "Okay. But I apologize beforehand if I hurt you."

"I'm a pro hero," she groaned dramatically. "You don't have to worry about 'hurting me'."

"Okay, then." He said, setting the time on his watch before dropping into his own fighting stance. "Thirty seconds only. Whenever you're ready."

"Finally."

Izuku struck first. Rumi hadn't even seen the attack coming, so she had no time to dodge. Izuku was like a blur, across from her one second and on her with a fist in her gut a second later. Rumi flew.

The ropes were the only reason she was still in the ring, as well as the only reason why she was still standing. She wanted to say something, but time was short, so she went on the offensive once again.

They met in the center of the ring, Izuku deflecting her kick with one hand as another grabbed her. She was on the ground before she could blink, trapped under his much heavier weight.

She tried to fight his grapple, jabbing his ribs over and over, but his grip was like steel as he pinned her to the mat. Even with her considerable strength, it only took a few seconds for Rumi to realize he had her.

Izuku's alarm sounded, calling the fight. He slackened his grip instantly, propping himself up with one arm. "You okay?"

Sometimes, this guy annoyed her, but other times, he made her want to flip him on his back and mount him right there. This was one of those times.

He had fought her like she asked, but in his own way. He had chosen to take her down with as little risk to her as he could, that's why he grappled her until the time ran out instead of simply knocking her out, as she knew he could.

"Alright," she admitted. "You win."

He didn't look like he cared one way, climbing off her, much to her chagrin. He offered her a hand up. "Okay."

He pulled her to her feet and she jabbed a finger into his muscular chest. "But next time, you actually fight. Got it?"

He had the audacity to chuckle. "Okay, okay. Message received, loud and clear."

She blew a strand of hair out of her face, it didn't go any far thanks to getting stuck on the sweat that clung to her skin. "Well, you won, even if you still went easy on me." She mumbled. "But I don't go back on my word, a deals a deal. You get to tell me what to do for the rest of the night."

He didn't say anything in reply, so she prompted. "...And that would be…?"

If Rumi were honest, when she came up with the terms of the deal, she was expecting him to say something lewd if he managed to win,not that she minded. She liked him, he liked her. They were two single adults who were clearly attracted to each other, and they were both hot as hell, she thought. So she was completely blown away when he gave his first demand.

"...I liked hearing you sing karaoke earlier," he said, nervous. "Can you… sing again? Just for me?"

You know, out of all the possible things she had come up with in her head that he could have asked, this was far from her expectations.

"Eh?" She gave him an utterly bewildered expression. "You're not serious, are you? I said you could literally tell me to do anything, and I'd have to do it, and you want me to sing?"

"Yes." He said simply. "You have a really beautiful voice, and I wanted to hear you sing again."

Rumi scanned his face for any sign of deception or joke, but couldn't find anything other than truth, and a pure appreciation for her skill she never let anyone else see. So she sighed, relenting. "Very well, then."

"Thanks-"

She jabbed another finger in his chest. "But we're totally having sex afterwards, you oblivious dork."

He had the audacity to laugh again, and Rumi felt a smile creep onto her lips as well.

To be continued

Author's Note

Well, there's chapter 4. Sorry for the delay in getting this chapter out. I just recently started a new Harry Potter series called 'Professor Delacour'. It's a Harry x Fleur 5th year AU, check it out on my profile if you're interested.

I've been having more time to write lately thanks to my new summer schedule, so I plan to release this chapter in 1 week, the 18th or 19th of June.

Next chapter will be the last, sad whoop. I hope you all have enjoyed this story as much as I have. As I've said before, this story was meant to get used to writing Izuku and Rumi, and to basically test the waters and see if anyone wanted to read Rumi fics. Because of the massive amounts of positive feedback, I'll be writing an Izuku x Rumi story later on, I have no release date yet. But follow me so you don't miss it!

Have a good one,

Heph
