Picking a color for the bedroom wall hadn't been an easy task, it took them two weeks of discussion through late face timing and three others to find the tone Lexi had picked.

Fez had let her make the last call, insisting she knew better than him, and that he was a simple guy who would have just left the wall plain white if he had been asked to choose. Truth is he had been the inspiration behind her decision.

Blue had been her first option, because every time she thought of Fez, his eyes were the first thing she remembered, deep blue ocean she would willingly submerge into.

Green was also a very important one too, the color of the sweater he had first worn when they met, the color of the necklace he had gifted her on the night of her high school graduation. It had been his idea to break up, she eventually gave in being a realist about their current situation, they promised each other that if it was meant to be they'd tried later on. Fez surprised her after the graduation ceremony with a las night drive around town, and as he finally took her home, he placed around her neck a beautiful emerald necklace, so she could take a little piece of him to college. Lexi hung onto him as if he would disappear if they stopped touching.

Golden, because it was how she thought happiness looked like, that's the tone her mind had chosen as a filter to replay their memories together. Golden as that particular afternoon when he went to visit her on her last semester after not seeing each other for years. Truth is they never really stopped being in each other's lives, they still texted from time to time, and on special occasions talked for hours on the phone when she was being very insisting, but both had kept their promise and never brought up anything romantic, instead they pretended to be only friends. Lexi sometimes laughed at how silly they had looked going through a reverse slow burn friends to lovers, because if one thing was for certain, was that their feelings never faded over distance or time.

She had gone to a couple of dates, perhaps it had been selfish, but she also had to prove to herself she was capable of meeting other people. There was never a second date with any of the new guys she met. All the things Fez wished for her to find in someone else, were the ones that Lexi found out she couldn't stand, all the little things Fez was insecure about, were also the details she missed most about him.

His visit to her dorm had been unannounced and a complete surprise. He looked different; except he was exactly his beautiful self. His beard and hair were more kept, he wore a green blazer and some expensive well put together clothes.

"Fez?" Lexi had stared at the door; her roommate had given her an approving glance and left the room to give them privacy.

The constant disassociating had gotten better, but she would sometimes allow herself to imagine him, imagine them together again.

He had looked nervous, but confident at the same time, she called it the Fezco paradox. Slowly pulled out a letter and gave it to her.

Lexi Howard.

I'm not great with words, I leave that to your perfect brain.

Hope you can forgive me for being selfish and be back into your life.
Ash and I are finally clean of all shit, he misses you.
I fucking dream with you all the time.

Can't say anything to your face cause I'm scared I'll fuck it up, but I needed to see you.
Cause I'm ready for any of the two possibilities.

I'll be happy if this is the last time we see each other, I'll fucking shake hands and wish the best to any guy that you've given the privilege of sharing your heart, hope it's big enough to carry even a tiny bit of me after all this time.
I hope you'll be the happiest you've been.

Lexi's tears spread across the letter, ink fading and mixing.

"What's the other possibility?" She asked realizing the letter didn't cover any of that.

Fez stood in front of her, he somehow looked younger, probably due to being free from his past. His eyes were the same though, shining, seeing right through her.
"The one where you maybe still love me" he whispered.

"What happens in that one?" She wiped away her tears.

"You get stuck with me, cause there's no fucking way I'd let you go again" he smiled.

She had thrown her arms around him in response. His embraces were out of this fucking world, but that one had been her personal favorite, they had held onto each other for all the time they'd been apart. Fez had pulled away to kiss every corner of her face and dried her tears with his kisses. Lexi hung onto him as if he would disappear if they stopped touching.

Current time Lexi stood in front of the freshly painted wall, they had decided to paint it themselves, it wasn't a complete failure, but thankfully Ash had eventually intervened and fixed the mess they had made.

Fez had bought two apartments in the building, one for Ash and one for them. Turns out real state is a fucking jackpot if you make good investments. Lexi had never asked how they began buying and renting all around different states, but that's what the brothers did now, buy, rebuild/remodel and rent. Their grandma had passed away when Lexi was still in college, she would sometimes still get upset with Fez for not having let her know because there was nothing worse than to think he had gone through that process alone.

They had moved with her to Brooklyn, with some contacts from college and newly discovery/prodigy actor Ethan, they began the preproduction of an immersive play representing architypes of the society. It was off-Broadway, but critics have already been saying that it was going to be the next BIG thing.

High School had been a difficult time for all of them, but Lexi would always be grateful for discovering theater was her passion, and for her friends. It was good to know Rue was clean and had found her own voice by helping others with a similar condition, Jules lived in NYC too, she worked in the fashion industry like she always dreamt of, Maddy was a successful business owner who broke her toxic cycle with abuse, Kat had gone to college and became a well-known adult novel writer, and Cassie had gone to therapy (Thank God, yes, Lexi hadn't actually said it, but perhaps Fez was right) and was now completely single and working on herself and her career. Lexi was happy for all her friends and the fact that she had her sister back.

Ash finally hopped off the ladder after finishing the last touches, he stood between her and Fez to admire his work.

"Gotta admit babe" Fez began "can't believe you found a green that doesn't look like puke or some shit"

Ash rolled his eyes "Just cause you don't have vision doesn't mean Lexi's like you" he turned to her and joked "why you gave this guy a second chance?"

She chuckled and put her arm around Ash's shoulders "Why don't you finish homework, and we'll get some dinner on me later"

"Deal"

Once the two were alone, Fez put his arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head "You like your new home, Lexi Howard?"

She smiled up to him, she could feel herself brimming with happiness while his eyes shined with pure joy.

Lexi had chosen green because in their little secret language it meant new beginnings, starting to allow themselves to develop feelings for the other, parting ways but never being surer of keeping each other in their hearts and lives, and now waking up next to each other, choosing day by day to love.

"I do, but want to hear a secret?" she asked mischievously

"What?" he laughed

"I like you more"

He blushed, oh how she liked to make him blush. Truth is, he was the best at giving compliments and making her feel confident, so it was her personal responsibility to make sure he knew how precious he was in her eyes.

Fez cupped her face, he never looked more beautiful than with his precious smile and blue eyes looking into hers "Wanna hear a secret?"

"Yeah"

He embraced her tightly, she could listen to his heartbeat synching with hers, his beard on her temple, a feeling of happiness numbing the rest of her feelings, memories, and fears. Fez whispered into her ear "I think I never got the chance to say it…"

She smiled into his neck "I know"

Lexi hung onto him as if he would disappear if they stopped touching.
