The female grandkids were all conjugated in Dolores's room. The fact that the room was soundproof made it perfect. It was easy for the girls to sneak away from the rest of the family was making sure Camilo was comfortable and the burns weren't causing any pain.

"It's almost nightfall," Dolores said. "This will be mami's second night alone. I still can't hear her."

"I think she actually left the Encanto," Luisa said.

"That's why I wanted us to meet tonight," Mirabel said. "She's definitely left the Encanto. Dolores can hear everything within the Encanto. I think some of us should go looking for her."

"Are you suggesting we go beyond the mountains?" Luisa said. Mirabel nodded swiftly. "Mira, none of us have ever been outside of the Encanto. We don't know what's beyond the mountains. Abuela has forbidden anyone from leaving."

"But if we sit and do nothing, something bad could happen," Mirabel stated. "Not just to Pepa."

"I agree with Mira," Isabela confessed.

"Same, but we'll need a plan," Dolores said. "And a place to start looking."

"We can ask Tio Bruno for a vision to help us," Mirabel exclaimed. "We can also ask Antonio to get Parce to help us.

"I don't think all four of us should go," Isabela said. "One of us should stay behind to hold down the fort."

"I'll stay behind," Mirabel offered. "Dolores, your superhearing will come in handy when it comes to locating Tia Pepa. Luisa, your strength might help if you face any danger. And you guys could be gone for a while. Having someone who could provide a food source would be helpful."
