The two women woke up at the crack of dawn. Pepa was helping Sofia get ready for their meditation succession. "I can't thank you enough for helping me," Pepa stated.
"Don't sweat it," Sofia responded.
"Most people become fearful when they learn of my gift," Pepa said. "Why are you helping me?"
"Exactly that reason," Sofia responded. "I understand your pain. Being labeled as a monster when you're just like everyone else. Your a devoted wife."
She gestured to the ring on Pepa's finger. "I'm guessing you're a mother," Sofia said. "You carry yourself like one."
"I have three kids," Pepa said. "Two boys and a girl."
Pepa frowned slightly. 'I might now only have two kids,' she thought. "I have two girls, Alicia and Laura," Sofia explained. "They live with my husband's mother. But back to what I was saying. We're just like everyone else. Same morals and values. However, we have one thing that labels us as a monster."
"The difference is, I am a monster," Pepa said. "I've hurt people. I've nearly killed people, and I might have killed someone. You just practice a different religion."
"A monster hurts people on purpose," Sofia explained. "Do you do that?"
Pepa shook her head. "Then you are no monster," Sofia said. "Shall we begin?"
"Sure," Pepa said. The two women sat on the porch. They sat criss-cross. Sofia wore a blanket over her shoulders. This was to keep herself safe from getting sick from Pepa's constant storm. "Now, close your eyes," Sofia instructed gently. Pepa did as told. Sofia also followed her instruction. "Now, take yourself to a happy place."
During those hours, Pepa's storm calmed down. For the first time in a week, it was just a slight thunder.
