Aftermath

In the end, Marcy was able to use the calamity box to send the Plantars back to Amphibia. Anne had to say goodbye to the frog family that she came to love and it was an emotional parting of ways.

The Plantars take the calamity box back with them and tell Anne it's too dangerous for them to keep it on earth, but they will be able to activate the box and see each other again.

"I'm going to miss you so much." Anne said.

"We'll miss you too, Anne. Just know that you'll always be my hero." Sprig said.

"Spranne against the world, right buddy?" Anne said.

"You got it buddy." Sprig replied.

With that, the Plantars leave as the portal closes behind them.

The aftermath of the battle is far from over. The trio has been through traumatic experiences, and they are going to need love and emotional support to heal.

The Boonchuy's walk up to the girls with serious expressions.

"Come on girls, we need to get you all to a hospital." Mrs. Boonchuy said.

The three girls follow The Boonchuy's as they walk to their van. Anne and Sasha help Marcy walk. She's still weak from the battle and, although Anne's exhausted from taking a hit to the chest, she fights through the pain. She's still very protective of Marcy, especially after everything that happened.

Sasha looks at Anne and notices she's clearly in pain and stops walking. Anne and Marcy stop too, looking confused.

"Anne, I got Marcy. Mr. Boonchuy, can you help Anne walk to the car?" Sasha asked.

The Boonchuy's run back to their daughter to help. Anne's Dad picks her up and carries her while her Mom walks closely by his side. They walk to the car and she's finally able to relax.

They all get in the car and start driving. The three girls exhausted from the fight, but relieved it's over. The adrenaline they were running on fades and they can barely keep their eyes open.

Marcy looks down at the stab wound on her chest, now a scar but the pain is still present in her memory. She feels a sudden burning sensation and grasps her shirt, trying to hold back the intense pain. That burning jolt she felt when the sword cut through her.

Anne and Sasha look at her with concern. Anne puts her hand on Marcy's shoulder while Sasha moves her hair out of her face to reveal her pained expression.

"Marcy, are you okay?" Anne asked.

"No." Marcy replied.

"It's where you were stabbed right? Is that where the pain is coming from?" Sasha asked.

"Yes, it feels like my chest is on fire, please make it stop!" Marcy replied.

Anne hugs Marcy, wanting so desperately to make the pain go away. Marcy tries to scream, but it's so painful and she's still so weak that she is only able to cry softly.

"How much longer until we get to the hospital?" Sasha asked.

"We are about ten minutes away, I'm driving as fast as I can." Mr. Boonchuy said.

"Marcy, hold on just a little bit longer, we are almost there." Mrs. Boonchuy said.

"Marcy, it's going to be okay. I've got you. I'm here." Anne said.

Marcy lays her head on Anne's shoulder, trying to take in her friend's compassionate words. Wishing they were enough to make the pain go away. Her vision goes dark as she starts fading in and out of consciousness.

All of the sudden, Marcy's body goes limp in Anne's arms. Anne looks horrified as she pulls Marcy out of the hug and looks at her eyes, now closed.

"No, Marcy, please you have to wake up. I can't lose you again." Anne said.

Sasha quickly grabs Marcy's arm and feels for a pulse.

"She's still alive, but her pulse is faint. We need to get her to the hospital now." Sasha said.

They pull up to the hospital and Anne immediately runs to the entrance, carrying Marcy in her arms with Sasha right behind her. They burst through the front door.

"Help! Please, my friend is hurt and we need help!" Anne yelled.

Doctors come rushing to their aid, placing Marcy on a stretcher. They take her back to get her the medical attention she desperately needs. Anne holds Marcy's hand as she runs by her side. But, when they get to a point down the hall where the doctors tell Anne that this is as far as she can go, Anne's hesitant. She doesn't want to leave Marcy again.

Sasha puts her hand on Anne's shoulder and pulls her back. The doctors take Marcy away and Anne stares desperately as her friend's torn away from her.

"Anne, Marcy's going to be okay. She's with doctors who are going to help her. We need to focus on getting ourselves checked. We can't help Marcy if we're hurt, right?" Sasha said.

Anne wipes the tears away from her face and nods in agreement. She knows Sasha's right. She needs to trust that the doctors know what they are doing. And, as she has come to learn over their adventures, Marcy's a lot stronger than she thought.

Anne and Sasha walk back to The Boonchuy's who ask if doctors can check to see if they are okay. With that, the girls are taken back to their own rooms.

Sasha doesn't have too many injuries, just some bruises here and there. She has always been the strong one. Protective of her friends, she could always take a punch and keep on fighting as long as she has something to keep fighting for.

Anne's injury is worse, but she will recover with rest and time. The hit that she took to her chest left a huge bruise and a broken rib. The doctors give her medicine to help with the pain.

After Anne and Sasha are taken care of by the doctors, they go to the waiting room to sit with The Boonchuy's, anxiously waiting for any news about Marcy. Anne visibly in distress. Mrs. Boonchuy puts her arm around Anne's shoulder to comfort her, but she says she's fine. She's focused on Marcy and needs to know if she's okay.

Suddenly, a doctor comes out of the room and asked for The Boonchuy's. Anne immediately stands up and runs to the doctor, her parent's and Sasha close behind her.

The doctor explains Marcy's in critical condition, but adds that she's going to make it. When she got stabbed with the fire sword, her wound was cauterized as it happened, but there's internal damage. The rejuvenation tank healed her most of the way, but her heart muscle has been weakened. The electric shock from The Core being downloaded into her mind did some damage as well. She'll be more prone to losing consciousness because of this.

Anne and Sasha both look at each other horrified by the news. They knew Marcy was stabbed and there would be lasting damage, but they had no idea when The Core took over her, she was electrocuted by the helmet.

Sasha feels angry at herself, wishing she wouldn't have left Marcy after she got stabbed. She knew what happened to Marcy wasn't her fault, but she feels guilty for not trying harder to fight for her.

"Can we see Marcy now?" Sasha asked.

The doctor nods and says she only wants two people going in to see Marcy. She doesn't want Marcy to be overwhelmed when she wakes up. Anne and Sasha volunteer and the doctor leads them to her room.

As soon as they open the door, Anne and Sasha see Marcy lying on the hospital bed. An IV attached to her arm to hydrate her and a blood pressure cuff around her arm to measure her vitals. She looks so lifeless and pale as she lies there with a blank yet sad expression on her face.

Anne and Sasha walk up to Marcy's bed and the doctor pulls up a couple of chairs for them to sit beside her. Anne holds Marcy's hand and winces at how cold she is.

"She's so cold." Anne said.

"Can we please get her another blanket?" Sasha asked.

The doctor nods and grabs one from one of the shelfs across the room. Sasha grabs the blanket and lays it over Marcy gently. Anne takes Marcy's hands to try to warm her up. Looking at the heart monitor, Anne notices how low Marcy's heart rate and blood pressure are and looks at her friend with deep sadness.

"Those numbers are really low. Is Marcy going to be okay?" Anne asked.

The doctor tells them that she's going to be okay, but that they will need to keep a close eye on her vitals. Anne tries to believe it, but she can't help but feel afraid for Marcy.

Before Anne has time to speak, Marcy's eyes slowly start to open as she squeezes Anne's hand lightly. Anne looks back at Marcy, surprised and relieved.

"Marcy! Thank goodness you're okay. How are you feeling?" Anne asked.

Marcy smiles, barely able to keep her eyes open as they adjust to the bright lights around her. She's so happy to see both Anne and Sasha by her side.

"I'm feeling really tired, but much better now. What happened? The last thing I remember is being in the car and I think I blacked out or something. Are we at the hospital now?" Marcy asked.

"Yes, they said you're going to be okay. We just need to keep an eye on your vitals and make sure you rest and recover." Anne said.

"That won't be a problem, Anna banana. All I want to do is sleep all day long." Marcy said, smiling and giggling.

Marcy's a little loopy from the pain medications, but Anne and Sasha are relieved to see her smiling again.

The girls decide to spend the night at the hospital. Anne and Sasha get two of their own makeshift beds to sleep in the room with Marcy. The doctor said she needed to stay overnight for observation, and they didn't want to leave her alone.

Marcy tries to stay awake. She's so excited the trio's back together again and wants to treat this as a fun sleepover, like the ones they had growing up.

"Okay, so I know we are in a hospital and it's not the best environment to have a fun time, but we should have a sleepover!" Marcy said.

Anne and Sasha smile. They're glad to see Marcy getting her energetic self back. But, as much as they love to see her so happy, they know that she needs to rest.

"Marcy, we would love to, but you need to sleep. You've been through a lot and you need to rest." Anne said.

"I agree with Anne on this one. We can all hang out tomorrow when we go home, but right now you need to get some sleep." Sasha added.

Marcy lays back down, slightly disappointed but she understands. She knows her friends are just looking out for her. And, if she is honest with herself, she really just needs a distraction to get through the night.

"Okay, I understand. It's just, I'm afraid to fall asleep. When I was in the rejuvenation tank, in a coma, I had so many terrifying nightmares. I just don't want that to happen again." Marcy said sadly.

Anne and Sasha go to her side to comfort her. Marcy tries to hide her face by looking away, but Anne hugs her and Sasha takes her hand.

"Marcy, thank you for being honest with us. I know how hard it is for you to express your feelings, especially when those feelings are scary. Just know that we are both here for you." Anne said.

"You're safe with us Marcy. We are not going to let anything happen to you." Sasha added.

Marcy hugs her friends back. Anne can feel her shaking and Sasha's shocked by how tight Marcy is holding her hand. They can both feel how fearful she is, and they want nothing more than to make her pain go away.

"You promise?" Marcy asked.

"We promise." Anne and Sasha said in unison.

Marcy starts to relax as she takes deep breaths in and out. Her emotions overwhelm her, but she slowly starts to calm down as her friends reassure her that she is safe with them.

"Thank you for being here for me. I'm sorry for being so sensitive." Marcy said.

"Marcy, you don't need to apologize. We will always be here for you when you need us. That's what friends do." Sasha replied.

"Sasha's right Marcy. You've been through so much and you need to let your feelings out. It's a good thing. Honestly, it shows how much you have grown and how strong you have become." Anne said.

"You guys are the best." Marcy said.

The trio embraces in a heartwarming hug. All of them have grown so much, and this is a new start for them. Relieved the battle is over and hopeful for a new beginning.
