Gamelover41592: Eh that's not a challenge
Hey guys. Sorry about the wait again. I swear that once school starts up I'll get a more consistent schedule going. Anyways, time to find the next piece of the Core of Light! Let's go!
Upon heading to the cove area of where the Core once was, the Skylanders discovered a Gillman named Gurglefin, who managed to lock himself inside of a cell that the Water Skylanders mainly used to store their catches whenever they went fishing. Unfortunately, a lock imp had decided to set up shop on the door, forcing the Skylanders to solve his puzzle in order to get the door open. Upon getting released, Gurglefin explained that the trolls had enslaved several other Gillmen and were forcing them to find oil for Kaos. Gill Grunt led the charge to Oilspill Island, eager to save his fellows from Kaos. However, they were unable to get any other information from the island.
"Hmmm, then we will need to keep searching," Eon noted. "Every second we wait is another second for Kaos to spread his reign of terror across the Skylands."
"I keep trying to look through the Far Viewer-" Hugo piped up only for Sky to cut him off.
"The big telescope?" She asked.
"Exactly," Hugo said with a nod. "But as I'm sure you know, it's a little rusty and it won't turn past a certain point!"
"So we're searching blind?" Chop Chop asked as he crossed his arms.
"We have other resources we could use," Bash pointed out to his Brother in Arms. Hugo was seemingly trying to come up with an answer for that himself, but the noise from whatever Gurglefin was working on was driving him nuts!
"Do you mind, fish fingers!?" The mabu snapped as he turned to their new guest. "I'm trying to concentrate!"
"THERE!" Gurglefin declared as he stepped away from what he had been working on. "It's finished! TADA! AHEM! On behalf of my people, I present you with this oil donkey-I didn't name it-and it comes with all the oil you could want!"
"Very impressive, Mr. Gurglefin!" Hugo said earnestly. "And that's exactly what we need right now!"
"It is?" Sky asked.
"Perfect!" Hugo again declared. "We should be able to use that on the Far Viewer! Grab a can of that stuff and meet me up there!" With that, he took off for the Far Viewer.
"Could he not simply…grab it himself?" Sunburn asked as Gill Grunt grabbed a can of oil.
"You know how Hugo is," Jet-Vac noted. "He does the planning and what not…and only that."
"So he never does any tasks that require being physical?" Spyro asked.
"Not that any of us have ever seen," Hex admitted with a somewhat annoyed look. She did appreciate everything Hugo did, but having to do things he could easily do himself did annoy her sometimes.
"Hey hey! Wouldn't it be funny if he secretly lifted in his room or something?" Trigger Happy asked before bursting into his trademark laughter. His comment quickly caused Sky, as well as several other Skylanders to also burst out laughing from the mental images. Several of them were still laughing once the oil was given to Hugo.
"What's everyone laughing at?" Hugo asked.
"Nothing you need to concern yourself with, Hugo," Eon assured his assistant, who simply shrugged and took the oil from Gill Grunt. Once he was sure he could move it enough, Hugo eagerly began his search.
"There it is…the twin…Let me backup a step," Hugo took a step back, letting him face the crowd who had gathered around him. "We'll need the Eternal Water Source to add to the Core of Light. But, according to my blueprints, the water is no good to us unless we can get something called the Twin Spouts of Ocea-Major-Minor! Which I found. There." Gurglefin suddenly came running over and took a look for himself, gasping once he saw what was being shown.
"Holy Anchovy! That's Dark Water Cove!" He revealed, prompting a few gasps from some of the Skylanders, mainly water ones. "Ooh, it's a nasty place, filled with pirates. I'll bet the Twin Spouts will fetch a pretty price for a plundering pirate. Sorry for the alliteration there."
"Nothing that we can't handle!" Spyro proudly boasted.
"Yeah!" Sky agreed, even if she had a feeling she wasn't going to be allowed to go.
"Let me prepare the ship then. I'll just go. I'll go now," With that Gurglefin headed back to the docks.
"As much as I hate to say it, the Skylanders should go with Gurglefin. I'll keep looking for clues to the Eternal Water Source. You can leave whenever you're ready," Hugo said before turning back to both the Far Viewer and his notes. Several Skylanders headed for the docks while a few stayed behind to get upgrades from Persephone.
"Come, Sky," Eon ordered as he began to walk towards the ship.
"Wait, I can come!?" Sky eagerly asked.
"You and I are going to remain on the ship. I fear that the pirates may have artifacts that look similar to what we need, so just to make sure we grab the correct thing, we will be coming," Eon explained. "Although, it would be smart for us to attend to any item needed for the core, Eternal Source or not." Sky just nodded, happy she would get to see a pirate hideout.
"Looks like we're going to have to find a way inside the fortress if we're going to retrieve the Spouts," Gurglefin noted once he docked the ships. He then let out a sigh. "Yup. This is juuuuuuust perfect."
"Follow me," Flip Wreck said as he stepped forward. "I know my way around pirates."
"You were a pirate?" Gill Grunt asked.
"No, but I did have to battle several of them before I left home," Flip Wreck explained. "Nasty bunch who will steal anything nailed down if they think it's valuable."
"Horrid lot," Hex agreed as she collected a nearby pile of gold to spend on upgrades later on.
"Hang on, weren't there a couple Skylanders who were pirates?" Spyro asked.
"Yeah, were," Ghost Roaster noted.
"There were two," Chop Chop elaborated. "The first was Thumpback, of the legendary giants team."
"The giants were the first Skylanders, right?" Stealth Elf asked as the group got into a fight with a group of pirates.
"Indeed," Chop Chop replied as he got into a blade lock with a group of pirates. "He served on the infamous Phantom Tide, but was pulled overboard shortly before the group was sealed in the Chest of Exile."
"Though, supposedly, he never liked being a pirate," Flip Wreck chimed in. "He only remained on the ship due to his love of fishing." This caused several of the younger Skylanders to giggle.
"And the other was Wash Buckler of the Swap Force," Chop Chop spoke up again as the group continued past some artillery, narrowly managing to avoid being spotted. "He managed to convince his crew that they didn't need to be bad guys but that didn't sit well with other pirate crews. But Wash Buckler stuck true to his ideals and defended them. Eon himself actually recruited him." The younger Skylanders all marveled at the tales they just heard. Anyone really could be a Skylander.
But, of course, that nagging thought about whether the giants or Swap Force would ever return remained in the back of everyone's minds.
"Hey, I think I see it!" Eruptor called out as he pointed his arms towards what appeared to be the Spouts.
"Strange area," Bash noted as he looked over the temple-like area that the Spouts were housed in. There were a few pirates, but it was nothing that the Skylanders couldn't deal with. The Spouts were theirs!
"This does seem to be the correct item," Eon noted with pleasure clear in his voice as he held the Spouts in his arms. "Of course, now all that is needed to place it back in the Core."
"Yeah, that might be a problem!" Gurglefin noted. "The main gate is closed!" Everyone turned to see that the gate was instead locked shut. "Two things: One - the pirates say that the switch is way up in that tower." All of the Skylanders, as well as the two Portal Masters, began eyeing the tower up. Most of them could make out something that looked like a switch. "And two: they also lie a lot. Dunno. Good luck. Lemme know how you do."
"Well…better than nothing," Gill Grunt noted as everyone began the walk to the tower.
"Wait! I can do it quicker!" Sky called out. She knew Eon already told her she couldn't just summon her pet hydra to solve anything but he also said that they needed to be quick or else Kaos would win.
She could train in magic when Kaos wasn't winning.
Calling the hydra down, Sky quickly jumped on board, and managed to reach the switch with ease. Upon her return, she noticed Eon smiling in pride.
"Well done, Sky!" He commended. Several other Skylanders seemed to share his opinions.
"Thank you!" She eagerly cheered as they returned to the Core of Light.
Everyone watched in awe as the Twin Spouts firmly planted itself in the middle of where the Core of Light would normally be. While they knew that they couldn't see it, it was already interconnecting itself into the hidden mechanisms hidden in the ground.
Things were slowly coming together.
So fun fact, there was one lock puzzle in this stage that I screwed up so bad, I had over 120 moves before I finally decided to just give up. Just in case any of you still respected my skills. Anyways, next time, we continue to rebuild the core by getting the Eternal Water Source! See you then!
