Naruto, the Vixen

Naruto is the property of Kishimoto and Tensura belongs to Fuse.

Himawari Uzumaki yawned loudly as she made her way through the house in the middle of the night. Two days ago, her father, Naruto Uzumaki, had been made the Nanadaime Hokage. Sadly, none of them made it to the ceremony celebrating his ascent as she had accidentally knocked him out while trying to attack her brother, Boruto, for tearing her favorite stuffed animal.

Currently, she was making her way to the kitchen to get a glass of water when she noticed something. The door to her parents' bedroom was open a jar. She yawned quietly before continuing to the kitchen.

"There's nothing they can do?" asked Himawari's mother, Hinata, rather loudly, causing the young girl to stop in her tracks.

"Nope," said Naruto with a sigh as Himawari quickly and quietly went back to the door, seeing her parents sitting on the side of the bed opposite the door, "Himawari did more damage than we initially thought. Even with Kurama helping to heal the injuries, it's only a matter of time."

Himawari turned pale and stopped breathing when she heard this.

"But what about Tsunade-sama?" questioned Hinata, sounding on the verge of tears, "Can't she do anything?"

"Tsunade said the risks outweigh the benefits," said Naruto sadly, "If it's a success, I live but I lose access to chakra and I'd be stuck with overwhelming pain for the rest of my life. I'd have to stop being Hokage."

"B-B-But…" stuttered Hinata through her tears, only to have Naruto pull her into a hug.

"It's going to be alright," assured Naruto as he held his wife tightly, "You'll all be alright."

Himawari, meanwhile was crying as she had had a talk with Hinata about this kind of thing with her uncle. Sniffling, she hurried back to her room to cry into her pillow.

(One Week Later)

Naruto sat silently as the other four Kage filed in and took their hats off, placing the round table. They all looked at Naruto, who closed his eyes.

"It's good to see you all, again," said Naruto depressingly with a forced smile.

"Naruto, is something wrong?" questioned Gaara curiously, "I would've expected you to be more emotional at finally being named Hokage."

"I was just about to say that," said Omoi, the Raikage, "We all came to congratulate you on your appointment but you're acting like someone is dying."

"You kind of hit the nail on the head with that," grimaced Naruto as he leaned forward and hug his head.

"What do you mean?" questioned Chōjūrō, the Mizukage.

"Back when I was officially proclaimed Hokage, my daughter activated her Byakugan and accidentally struck me," explained Naruto, "She caused more damage than initially thought and I was given a prognosis that I have about a year."

Everything quickly grew silent. The other Kage gave Naruto shocked looks while he seemed to be keeping calm.

"Are you kidding me?!" shouted Kurotsuchi, the Tsuchikage, as she shot to her feet, "You've only been Hokage for about a week!"

"Sadly, we have no other choice," said Naruto as he raised his head slightly, "The surgery that could save me would force me to step down from the post as well as confine me to a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I can't force Hinata to take up such a burden with the kids as well. Plus, I've already talked this over with Kurama. He agreed to be sealed inside someone again and I want you all to help train them when they come of age."

"Very well," acknowledge Gaara with a nod, "Have you told Sasuke about this?"

"He's supposed to be by later today," informed Naruto, "I sent him a letter when I found out. I'm going to talk to him about who I chose to be Kurama new jinchūriki."

"And who did you select?" asked Chōjūrō.

"For that person's sake, I don't think I should reveal it to anyone until I've spoken to Sasuke on the matter as he and Orochimaru are going to be the ones performing the sealing."

"Orochimaru is here?" questioned Omoi as he narrowed his eyes.

"He's under heavy guard and Tsunade is with him as well," assured Naruto before he stood up, "If you all don't mind, I need to go speak to the person I selected to be Kurama's new host."

Leaving his hat behind, Naruto left the room, leaving the other Kage in a stunned silence.

Naruto calmly walked around the village with a great weight on his shoulders. As he searched through the droves of the village, he couldn't help but feel upset at his situation. Finally, he was Hokage and it was sudden taken away from him. He shook his head then went toward a BBQ joint that he knew the person he was looking for would be at. Opening the door, he was greeted by the sight of a full restaurant that quickly fell silent when he entered.

Ignoring the hurried greetings of the owner, Naruto went over to the table where Boruto was sitting with Shikadai, Chocho and Sarada. He looked at each of them for a moment before looking back to his son.

"Come with me," he ordered emotionlessly.

Boruto swallowed the lump in his throat but followed his father quickly. Naruto led Boruto through the village and through the graveyard. They soon entered the forest surrounding the village and Naruto led Boruto to a stone shrine that was against a tree with a single kanji on it. Naruto knelt down and prayed in front of it while Boruto just stood there, confused as to what was going on.

"Boruto, I want you to do something for me," said Naruto gently as he opened his eyes minutely, "If the time should ever come, I want you to…"

"Naruto, the shrine!" came Sasuke urgent voice as it quickly grew closer.

Naruto shoved Boruto back with all his strength just as the shrine exploded. Boruto rolled on the ground but looked up and panicked at what he saw. Naruto was lying on the ground, half his limbs blown off and dozens of kunai lodged in him.

"Tou-chan!" cried Boruto as he hurried to his father's side.

He made to remove the weapons but was stopped by Sasuke.

"Those kunai could be stopping the bleeding," said Sasuke as Boruto looked at him, "Keep him awake. I'll get help."

He then ran off as Boruto sobbed while holding Naruto's hand.

"B… Boru… to," said Naruto as the blood pooled out of his mouth, "P-Please… keep… your… sister… s-s-smiling."

"Come on, Tou-chan!" shouted Boruto, "You can't die!"

"It's… too hot," thought Naruto as he saw people gather around him, "I don't… like it."

Confirmed.

Heat Resistance acquisition added.

"Why does it… have to hurt so much being stabbed and in an explosion?" he thought as he saw Hinata and Himawari over him now, tears in their eyes.

Confirmed.

Stab Resistance and Explosion Resistance acquisition successful.

Creating a vulpine body.

He now was looking to his side and saw Hinata, Boruto, and Himawari crying as they stood by him and cried as they all held his hand.

"Their touch is… so cold," he thought weakly as his mind was slipping.

Cold Resistance acquired.

Acquisition of Heat Resistance and Cold Resistance results in the acquisition of a new skill, Thermal Fluctuation Resistance."

"It's…" began Naruto softly, looking at Himawari's crying face, "Not… your… fault."

He then noticed Sasuke behind them with his Sharingan active. Nodding very weakly, Naruto signaled Sasuke. Sasuke's Sharingan began spinning while Naruto began feeling sleepy.

"I always hated… the feeling of Chidori," thought Naruto as everything got blurry, "The current was too much."

Electric Current Resistance acquired.

Attached is Paralysis Resistance.

Acquisition successful.

"Promise… me," begged Naruto to the blurry shape of Boruto, "Promise me… you'll… do it."

"I-I p-p-promise," came the faint voice of Boruto.

"If I'm reborn, I promise I'll be more aggressive," thought Naruto to himself, "I'll screw over everyone who hurts those I love."

Unique skill: Predator acquisition successful.

"If a kid at the age of 13 is an apprentice sage, I should've been a sage by the time I was 16," he thought amusingly, "Given how much I improved over the years, I should've be a great sage by now."

Extra skill: Sage acquisition successful.

Continuing, Sage will transform into the unique skill Great Sage.

Successful.

"I just wish I could see Hinata's Byakugan and Sasuke's Sharingan again," thought Naruto as he drifted off to sleep, "I hate that my healing factor wasn't quick enough to help."

Unique skill: Byakugan acquisition successful.

Unique skill: Sharingan acquisition successful.

Warning.

Due to instability, both skills are temporarily locked.

Unique skill: Ultra-High Speed Regeneration acquisition successful.

"Shut up," thought Naruto gently as he drifted off to sleep, "Just let me… rest for a minute."

(?)

Yawning, Naruto opened his eyes but found something weird. He couldn't see. What's more is that he felt different. It felt as though he had no hands. He was also lying on his stomach. He then felt an itch behind his left ear and used his hind left paw to scratch at it.

"Wait," thought Naruto as he froze in shock, "How am I able to do that?!"

Taking several deep breaths, Naruto took a few minutes to examine himself and his surroundings with everything but his missing sense of sight. First, he was rather small. From the feeling of his limbs, he seemed to be some kind of fox. That was his assumption based on the long flowing tail that he pulled on with his teeth that also tugged at his rear. He felt fur on his body with the paw pads on his four paws. He also had two rather long ears for a fox but shook that thought off as he had more pressing matters.

With his ears, he could hear the faint sound of water droplets falling all around him and various things in the distance. When he tried speaking, all he got were some small yips and a cute little growl. With his new sense of smell, he found the air wet and smelled dirt all around him.

"Based on this, I'm probably in a cave somewhere," thought Naruto as he walked around on his new paws, "Did I reincarnate or something?" he then stopped dead in his tracks, "I can't believe I forgot the most important thing."

He sat down and reached between his hind legs before becoming crestfallen. He only had a slit there.

"There goes my little Hokage," thought Naruto dejectedly before she continued walking.

As she walked, she stepped on something that felt like a plant. But what was strange about this was that it seemed to be breaking down under her feet. It seemed weird but Naruto ignored it for the time being when her stomach growled.

"What I wouldn't give for some Ichiraku ramen right now," she thought as she smelled the plant in front of her, "Wonder if this tastes okay?"

She lowered her snout then bit into the plant. She spat it out, gagging on the taste.

"It's so bitter," thought Naruto in agony as she stepped on the plant, feeling it dissolve under her feet, "Okay, what is going on? Why is it dissolving when I step on it?"

Answer.

Naruto jumped at the sudden voice in her head then spun around, trying to locate its source.

It is stored in the stomach of your unique skill, Predator.

"That voice!" thought Naruto as she looked around, "I heard it after the attack! Who are you?!"

Answer.

It is an effect of your unique skill, Great Sage.

Now that your ability is established, you are capable of reacting more quickly.

"Great Sage," thought Naruto cautiously, "So, um, does "skill" mean my abilities? What is "Predator"?"

It allows you to ingest objects and analyze them within your body.

You can then acquire that object's skill.

Once analysis is complete, you can mimic the object, as well.

Naruto was in awe of this ability and thought of all the possibilities with it.

The stomach stores the objects you ingest.

It can also isolate harmful objects that cannot be analyzed.

"Th-This "Predator" seems like an amazing ability," thought Naruto, "Can it also feed me the physical nutrients and analyze the plants I ate?"

Nutrient transfer complete.

Analysis complete.

Hipokute herbs.

A valuable herb that only grows in areas rich with magicules.

Used as an ingredient in salves and healing potions.

"Magicules?" asked Naruto, being unfamiliar with the word.

Magicules

A special energetic material found in all-

"Explain it so I can understand!" shouted Naruto inside her head.

They are the building blocks of all beings.

"So, it's like chakra?" asked Naruto hopefully.

Yes.

"I see," thought Naruto as she brushed her tail around the plants, "This place must be full of them. That's why all these valuable herbs grow here, right? So, I can analyze these hipokute herbs and store them in my stomach as well as feed that way. Does that mean that I can create and store salves and healing potions within my own body?"

Precisely.

"But won't it run out of room since I'm so small?" thought Naruto in concern.

The stomach used by Predator is a near endless void.

It has a maximum limit of over 999,999kg.

"Really?!" thought Naruto joyfully before ran about the entire area, absorbing every plant she could reach.

It was at this point that Naruto noticed something. As she was collecting herbs, she felt something up with her feet. It seems as though they were weightless and he was just gliding along.

"What's up with my feet?" thought Naruto to Great Sage.

Analysis.

Species "kitsune" possesses the unique skill Mimicry.

Predator and Mimicry are working in symbiosis to make up for the lack of fluidity required for Predator by turning the body to a smoke-like substance.

"Ah," thought Naruto before she got back to absorbing all the herbs.

She continued on with this until she decided to take a break on a large rock that was sticking out of the ground. She took note of how she did with her smokey form then let out a sigh of relief.

"If all those plants are some valuable herbs you call hipokute herbs, does that mean this rock is worth something?" thought Naruto as she felt the very smooth stone beneath her feet.

Magic ore.

Materials that spend long periods of time in magicule-rich areas take in magicules until they become ore.

It is very valuable.

"Really?!" thought Naruto excitedly, "Okay, then!"

Naruto turned into a red smoky substance that spread over the ores as well as hipokute herbs, absorbing them all as he moved throughout the cave. She kept going and going and eventually solidified as she began running. She then realized that there was nothing under her feet as she had run off a cliff. Naruto screamed inside her head as she fell down what felt like steps before splashing down in a bunch of water.

"Note to self, make sure you have enough space to stop safely before solidifying," thought Naruto calmly as she floated atop the water, "Hold on. If I can absorb anything with Predator…"

Naruto absorbed some water then released compressed beams of it from the bottom of her feet. This sent her shooting forward at high speeds and made her glide along the surface of the water.

Skill: Water Pressure Propulsion acquired.

"Stop!" thought Naruto, now in a panic, "I'm going to fast!"

The moment she hit the shore; she went flying before she hit a wall. Bouncing off it, Naruto landed several feet from it, her leg sticking out at an odd angle.

"Why did I hit a wall but not feel any pain?" she wondered as she tried to get up but fell to the side because of her leg.

Answer.

Because you acquired Pain Nullification, you will not feel pain.

The physical damage you have taken is 10%.

Unique Skill Ultra-High-Speed Regeneration has been activated.

Feeling her leg snap back into place, Naruto carefully put some weight on it and found it stable.

"So, I still take damage even though I don't feel pain?" she thought, "At least this time it's actually doing the job. But I need to be more careful."

"Can you hear me, small one?" came a deep, booming voice.

She froze, surprised by this new voice. Turning around, she faced the wall and tried to locate the source.

"Ohy!" came the voice, angrier this time, "I know you can hear me!"

"Y-You're talking to me, aren't you?" thought Naruto fearfully.

"Answer me," demanded the voice.

"Easy for you to say!" shouted Naruto in her mind, "How am I able to talk when I don't have the ability to form words with these vocal cords?!"

"Hey!" came the voice.

"Just shut up, baldy!" thought Naruto in almost equal anger.

"Oh?" questioned the voice in intrigue, "You called me baldy, eh? I see you have guts."

"Uh…" began Naruto, now suddenly nervous.

The owner of the voice roared so loudly that Naruto covered her ears as the force from the sound waves dried her off. It also rocked the cave, causing several rocks to fall and others to shatter.

"I was trying to be nice since I haven't had a visitor in so long, but you seem to have a death wish," said the voice in annoyance.

"This guy reminds me so much of Kurama when we first met," thought Naruto with a heavy sigh, "Either way, I had no idea you could hear my thoughts. I'm blind and can't speak beyond growls and yips so…"

The voice laughed just like the way Kurama used to and made Naruto confused.

"It amazed me that you would say such a thing after seeing me, but it turns out you can't see me, eh?" asked the voice, "All right. I will give you sight."

"Huh?" asked Naruto quizzically.

"However, there will be conditions," said the voice, "What do you say?"

"What sort of conditions?" questioned Naruto suspiciously.

"It's simple," said the voice calmly, "You must not fear me when you have the ability to see me and you must come talk with me again. A good deal for you, is it not?"

"That's all I have to do?" questioned Naruto as she raised an eyebrow.

"Yes," confirmed the voice, "You see, I was sealed here 300 years ago. Ever since then, I've had nothing to do and it's been unbearably boring. What do you say?"

"I'm curious as to why you were sealed, but…" began Naruto before she nodded, "Okay! I'll gladly do it!"

"Very well," said the voice, "There is a skill called Magic Sense. Can you use it?"

"What do you think?" thought Naruto as she tilted her head.

"It allows you to sense the magicules around you," explained the voice.

"So, if I detect magicules, I'll be able to see?" questioned Naruto, unsure about this, "I guess I'll try it."

Naruto closed her eyes and lowered her head, as she focused. The moment she felt something, she gasped. The entire cave was suddenly visible to her as sparkly particles lit up the room.

Extra skill: Magic Sense acquired.

"That quickly?" questioned Naruto, "Wait. Extra?"

Skills with power and efficiency magnitudes higher than those of normal skills.

"That sounds awesome!" thought Naruto excitedly, "It's like learning a brand new jutsu!"

Would you like to use Magic Sense?

"Yes!" thought Naruto almost instantly.

A quick breeze spread out from her and scattered the magicules in a way so she could see through them. She looked around at all the magic ore that littered the floor before running over to the small lake. Taking in her appearance, Naruto could see she was a deep shade of red with large black patches around her white eyes.

"I look almost exactly like Kurama," thought Naruto cheerfully before her mood suddenly took a dive.

"Well?" asked the voice from behind her.

"Oh, yeah," thought Naruto as she turned around and leapt in front of the owner of the voice, "I did it! Thank you very much!"

She then looked up and her jaw dropped at what she saw. It was an enormous dragon with black scales and a light blue underbelly. Its large golden eyes stared down at Naruto with an indifferent gleam in them.

"Great," thought Naruto indifferently, "First a giant fox and now a dragon."

"Normally, I would've expected a more surprised reaction," remarked the dragon as it beckoned Naruto forward with her obeying, "Now, allow me to formally introduce myself."

"O-Okay," said Naruto, offput by this behavior from a dragon.

"I am the Storm Dragon, Veldora," said the dragon calmly.

"Storm Dragon?" thought Naruto as she seemed a little confused by the title.

"I'm one of only four True Dragons that exist in the world," explained Veldora before he started laughing.

Naruto quickly pushed her ears down as the laughter from Veldora was hurting her ears.

"Hey, you do remember our promise, right?" asked Veldora seriously.

"Uh, yeah," thought Naruto as she scratched an itch behind her right ear, "Well, I'll come by to chat again later."

She turned and began walking, trying to leave rather quickly.

"Wait!" exclaimed Veldora, causing Naruto to jump, "This is indeed unusual. Normal foxes are normally low ranked monsters with little intelligence."

"I'll have you know that I'm a kitsune!" thought Naruto, taken aback by being called a normal fox, "Besides, I used to be human before I died!"

"I see," acknowledged Veldora, "You were reincarnated."

"So, I really was reborn as a kitsune," thought Naruto depressingly.

"You came into this world in a very unusual way," revealed Veldora, "There are occasionally those who come from other worlds. But you are the first I've heard of that's been reincarnated here. Most wouldn't be able to withstand their soul traverse worlds."

"So, you're telling me that there are others who have come here but not through reincarnation?" asked Naruto, sounding a little eager for this info.

"Indeed," confirmed Veldora, "We call them Otherworlders. I've heard they gain special abilities when they cross into this world."

"That must explain why I have so many skills," thought Naruto as she rolled her eyes before refocusing on the dragon in front of her, "I think I'd like to try and find some of these Otherworlders."

"What?" questioned Veldora as he folded his arms/front legs and turned away, acting hurt, "You're leaving already?"

"Now this is something Kurama never did," thought Naruto in frustration but couldn't help but chuckle from, "I guess I can stay a little longer. I mean, it's not like I have anything to do now."

"Oh, good!" exclaimed Veldora happily as he turned back to Naruto, "Stay as long as you like!"

"So, you said earlier that you were sealed here, correct?" asked Naruto as she went behind a rock to relieve herself.

"I'm glad you asked that!" said Veldora as he turned his head away and closed his eyes to recall his tale, "It was 300 years ago. I sort of turned a town to ashes by mistake."

"How do you sort of turn a town to ashes by mistake?" wondered Naruto as she came back out from behind the rock.

"Someone came looking to slay me," continued Veldora, ignoring Naruto's question, "It's certainly true that I underestimated my opponent a bit. I started putting my full strength into the battle about halfway through," he then looked down at Naruto, his claws on his hips, "But I still lost!"

"Despite that, you do seem pretty strong," encouraged Naruto, "Was your opponent powerful?"

"Yeah," confirmed Veldora, "Very powerful. It was someone known as a hero blessed with divine protection."

"Sounds sort of like me back during the war with Pein then Kaguya," thought Naruto as she nibbled on an itch between her hind legs.

"She overpowered me with her unique skill, Absolute Severance," revealed the Storm Dragon, "Then she sealed me using Unlimited Imprisonment."

Naruto then took notice of the shiny, rainbow-y veil that she had crashed into earlier. It appeared to stretch and bend around Veldora. It was big enough to let him move around in to get comfortable but didn't allow much else.

"I take it that veil is the Unlimited Imprisonment?" asked Naruto as she went up and touched the veil, which solidified as her touch.

"Yeah," confirmed Veldora with a sigh, "The hero called herself a "Summon"."

"I'm guessing that's a person that was summoned here to this world, right?" thought Naruto as she began to put the pieces together.

"Yes," said Veldora, "It take a group of more than 30 mages to perform a ritual that lasts several days to bring one here from another world."

"So, there are mages here too?" asked Naruto excitedly, "I always wanted to learn magic!"

"They are also expected to serve as powerful weapons," revealed Veldora, causing Naruto pause.

"I see," thought Naruto, her sudden enthusiasm vanishing almost instantly, "Then they're just like jinchūriki back home."

"Magic is used to carve a curse into the Summon's soul to ensure that the Summon cannot defy the Summoner's will," explained Veldora with a great sadness in his voice.

"That's crazy!" thought Naruto angrily, "In my old world, we had Summons as well but we never did something that awful!"

"Then you came from a kinder world than this one," said Veldora calmly, "But survival of the fittest is the prevailing truth in this world."

"I see," acknowledged Naruto before she decided to change the subject, "So, you've been in here ever since the hero sealed you?"

"That's right," confirmed Veldora, now crestfallen, "It's extremely boring here with nothing to do or anyone to talk to."

"I felt pretty lonely for the first 12 years of my old life because I had no one," said Naruto, trying to comfort the Storm Dragon, "I can't imagine what it's like feeling like that for 300 years." Naruto then made her decision right then and there, "Alright! Why don't you and I be friends?!"

"What?!" exclaimed Veldora in anger as he glared down at Naruto, "A mere kitsune proposes friendship to me, the feared Storm Dragon?!"

"Well, if you do want to be friends then I guess I'll be leaving," thought Naruto as she turned to leave.

"Wait!" called out Veldora before he looked away in embarrassment, "I never said I didn't want to!"

Naruto smiled at this, knowing she'd gotten the dragon.

"Then what is your answer?" asked Naruto happily.

"Yes, well…" began Veldora nervously as he tried to find the words so as not to sound too eager, "If you insist… I guess I'm willing to think about it."

"This guy is such a tsundere!" thought Naruto in disbelief before taking a large jump to Veldora and held out a paw, "Then it's settled! If you refuse, we're through. I'm never coming here again!"

"W-Well, alright!" exclaimed Veldora quickly as he looked back at Naruto and bumped fists with him through the Unlimited Imprisonment, "I'll be your friend. You better be grateful!"

"You just can't be honest, can you?" teased Naruto as a small glowing light shone from the contact between the two.

(Konoha)

Himawari stood in the rain as she stared down at her father's grave. Tears ran down her face with the raindrops masquerading them from people nearby. In her hands were countless flowers. It was the fifteenth bouquet she had brought today alone. Her breathing was hitched as she sat the flowers down on the grave. She then fell to her knees while she sobbed loudly, not caring that she was getting wet or her clothes were quickly becoming muddy.

Boruto arrived at the graveyard with a coat for Himawari and quickly covered her before pulling her into a hug. He let her cry into his shoulder until she passed out. Hinata soon arrived and carried Himawari with her back to the village. Boruto, meanwhile, stared down at the grave of Naruto Uzumaki and rubbed his eyes.

"I swear that I'll keep Himawari smiling," promised Boruto as he turned away then walked off.
