Gamelover41592: Thanks
Tech-Star: Yeah that was bad. But about your question relating to Three Stays Fresher, since Splatoon 3 wasn't even a concept when I finished and it takes place five years after the event of Splatoon 2, I'm not going back to update the story to include it. The same goes for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Pikmin 4 if I somehow still haven't finished this series by the time that comes out. All of the events will get mentioned in the epilogue story that I'm planning to wrap up the series.
Hey, sorry this one took so long. School has been really busy as of late, so I haven't had as much time as I would like. Alright, time for one of my favorite levels in the original game! Let's go!
"Thank you!" Hugo thanked everyone once he made his way over. "Now we must get the Eternal Earth Source. The villagers in Stonetown have recovered and are keeping it safe until we arrive."
"Aw! That's nice of them!" Sky said happily.
"WHOO-HOO!" Flynn cheered. "Finally, an easy one! What did I tell ya!? CAKE!"
"Something doesn't feel right about this," Hex noted.
"Sure. EXCEPT for Kaos, the growing Darkness AND foul smelling cyclopses, ALL looking for the same that we are after," Hugo said as if to prove Hex's point.
"Oh. Yeah, well. Heh, I guess if you count those…" Flynn sheepishly admitted.
"That is not what I meant, but that is also true," Hex admitted. Unseen by everyone, Sky gave her a look.
"I'm sure Diggs knows the way. We should ask him," Hugo said before talking towards said Molekin, most of the Skylanders as well as Eon following him.
"Uh, Hex?" Sky asked as she walked alongside the undead sorceress, who turned to look at her. "What did you mean by something not feeling right?"
"Call it a hunch," Hex began to explain. Sky was her future Portal Master, so Hex felt okay with being open with her. "As I'm sure you remember with the other two sources, we had to fight for them. Same with the other parts. So just having a source given to us…it doesn't feel right to me."
"I…guess that makes sense," Sky noted.
"Still, it is nothing for you to get worked up about," Hex assured her. "It could just be my paranoia. And if something does go wrong, the other Skylanders and I will be there to protect you." Sky merely smiled and sped up to go catch up to Eon. Hex allowed a small smile to grace her face as well. She was unsure of Sky at first, but the child was a welcome present in her life.
"Alright, this is as far as I can take you," Diggs explained to the Skylanders once they had arrived just on the outskirts of the town. "Stonetown is just beyond this cyclops outpost. But the ground is shaking something terrible. All these vibrations….I sense something is very wrong here."
"Huh, guess Hex was right," Dino-Rang said as he rubbed the back of his head with one of his weapons.
"Hang on. I wanna try something," Sky offered. After concentrating for a few seconds, she managed to make her own version of Eon's viewing portal. While it wasn't perfect, considering that she didn't get exactly what she wanted to see, she managed to steer it through the cyclops outpost into Stonetown where a rock golem was tearing apart the town.
"Help!" One of the Mabu yelled out, as if able to sense he was being watched. "It's the Eternal Earth Source! It's become a hideous, horrific, terrible monster!" Sky then closed the portal and nearly collapsed.
"I feel like that's a bit wordy," Stealth Elf noted under her breath.
"Hard…" Sky groaned as she tried to regain her breath.
"Very good first attempt," Eon commended his daughter as he helped her steady herself. "So, it appears that the Eternal Earth has activated its defense mechanism, so it appears that we will need to defeat this monster in combat in order to both claim the source as well as save the town."
"So we're going golem smashing?" Spyro cockily asked. "Heh, shouldn't be too hard."
"Yeah. We break rocks all the time!" Bash boasted proudly.
Ghost Roaster burst out laughing. "Yeah! Rocks and cyclopses!" At that point, all the Skylanders had begun to rush forward, taking down any enemy in their paths.
"Sky, are you sure you are okay?" Eon asked as he nervously watched Sky attempt to walk. She was managing to stay up right, but still stumbled every few seconds.
"Yeah…I think so," Sky unsurely said. "I think I can keep going."
"Very well, but if you need to rest or for me to call your hydra, let me know," Eon offered. Sky nodded, but kept walking, slowly yet surely managing to recover.
"Master Eon!" Gill Grunt called out as he and a few other Skylanders returned to where Sky and Eon had been standing. "That cyclops base is in operation! We're pretty sure we know why the Earth Source went berserk!"
"Indeed. There is no doubt in my mind that Kaos sent the cyclops in an attempt to claim the source before we could. It must have sensed the ill intent and transformed to protect itself," Eon noted.
"Then why is it attacking everything and not just the cyclopses?" Sky asked in a tone of genuine confusion.
"Because the sources' defenses are often indiscriminate," Eon explained. He realized his mistake when Sky's face looked even more confused. "They attack randomly."
"Ohhhhhhhh," Sky nodded in understanding.
"Still, we have reports of the beast moving towards the center of town, so it would be best to move quickly," Chop Chop added into Gill Grunt's report.
"Then, by all means, do not let Sky and I stop you," Eon said with a nod. The other Skylanders got the hint and rushed back after their comrades. Eon and Sky moved quickly as well, but still went slower so that Sky could regain her breath fully.
"Daddy?" Sky began to ask.
"Yes, Sky?" Eon responded.
"So…why don't you just beat up Kaos by yourself?" She finished. "I mean, you're strong, right? So couldn't you just stop him?"
Eon chuckled. He quite enjoyed Sky's questions. In his mind, letting people learn via their own questions getting answered was the best way to gain knowledge. "Sky, even in my prime, I couldn't be everywhere at once. And Kaos isn't the only villain here in Skylands. So if I was busy stopping him, someone else could be causing harm elsewhere. This is why the Skylanders were created. So that we could be in more places at once in order to defeat evil. And besides, there is an old saying that I learned when I was around your age-'A single warrior can be strong, but a warrior backed by his friends is even stronger'"
"So…it's always best to have help?" Sky summarized with a smile.
"Very good!" Eon noted with a smile. "It's always best to have a team in order to back you up and be there if you ever need help."
"Always have a team…" Sky trailed off as she continued to walk with Eon. For some reason, that thought made her feel really…weird. Almost guilty. Whatever. It was most likely nothing.
"Simple mission this time," Spyro noted as the group closed in on the Golem.
"Yeah, it's weird that there wasn't anything crazy to do," Sky agreed.
"Well, we still have to fight the golem," Hex reminded them.
"So? It's just an ugly bunch of rocks! How hard can that be!?" Spyro questioned as the group finally encountered the Stone Golem.
"...It's ugly," Sky declared, causing several of the Skylanders to snicker. The golem roared (and no one was actually sure if it was from Sky's comment or just in aggression) and attacked, but it wasn't much of an issue. All it really had to attack were rocks, something that none of the Skylanders were really afraid of.
"One Earth Source! Ours for the taking!" Terrafin boasted as he stood back, allowing Eon and Sky to easily get it back under control.
The awe of watching a source return to the core had not vanished for anyone. Everyone was in awe as the source returned to its place, causing the pedestal that the Twin Spouts and Crystal Eye rested on to transform, becoming more detailed and ornate. In addition, the beam of light, while not as strong as it could have been, was now firing once again. To say everyone was happy was an understatement.
And that's another source down! Sadly no Kaos this time, but eh, it's fine. Anyways next time…we meet one of my favorite NPCs.
