Chapter 1: An Incident

Artemis Fowl II was not an average boy. From a very young, it was clear that he was meant for greater things than working for minimum wage in an office or even being the CEO of said office.

Artemis Fowl was wonderfully intellectually inclined and he certainly used this advantage over his fellow man even to the extent of, less than savory, criminal activities. One would be hard pressed to find someone with intellect and cunning rivaling that of the Irish genius.

At our current point in time, Artemis Fowl was up late manipulating the stock market. Standard dealings for someone of his caliber. After diverting around 200,000 USD in his favor, Artemis turned his attention to hacking into NASA. He had intentions of sending several of his own satellites into orbit, and he didn't need any government authorities shooting down his plans. He was halfway through this process when he heard a sound behind him.

Artemis whipped around in alarm. He was positive that everyone else was asleep and that he had left all the entrances to his study closed.

There was a young girl, around 5-6 years of age by the looks of it, in a nightgown, standing in the center of the room. Artemis opened his mouth to say something but stopped when the child began to speak.

In a strange whisper, she spoke.

"Take not into your notice the dealings of He Who Cometh, lest it be a far greater burden on your mind than if you were to have left alone that which ye shouldn't comprehend."

As soon as her message was delivered, the strange visitor vanished. Before Artemis could process the statement, Butler burst through the study door. The nearly 7 foot, mountain of a man seemed to be quite shaken. This turned Artemis' stomach. There wasn't much in this world that could break the composure of this powerful man.

Butler quickly grasped Artemis by the shoulders, and in a strained whisper said, "Everyone has disappeared along with my weapons."

Artemis was having an even harder time thinking when another visitor entered the study. He was a young, raven haired man standing at about 6 feet tall in a velvet trench coat. His deep blue eyes lit up when he saw the duo.

"Wonderful," the man exclaimed, "so there is still hope left in this world!"
