Tanjiro and Izuku continued their trip to school, the former now calmed down a bit after his semi-mental breakdown recalling the events. It's something Tanjiro is aware of and yet he can't help but sometimes think back and reflect, was there really nothing he could do?
The only solace he got from reflecting was the fact he knew nothing about either Zenitsu's or Inosuke's fates, after the second Progenitor fled the two went away to train on their own, they weren't there when the second Progenitor attacked and he hadn't gotten any news about them even up to his defeat.
Though he knew of a certain Hashibira that a couple years ago quit being a botanist after a giant flop, it may be coincidence that he has the same last name as Inosuke, but he could very well be a descendant.
Tanjiro sighed again, and Izuku gave him a concerned look, "You're usually like that, you look like you start to think and then suddenly you look like you're about to vomit. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah, I guess I'm just stuck with some nasty thoughts. I'm otherwise fine though, really." Tanjiro responded, waving his hand at the boy as to enhance the 'I'm fine' point, "But enough about me, what about you Izuku? I see you usually taking notes when the talk of Heroes arrives. I know you want to be a Hero but can you really do that? Nowadays so many people have special abilities it's hard to keep up when you have nothing."
Izuku lowered his head, frowning at the question, "I'm still going to try." he muttered.
Tanjiro basically blew up with shame, raising and flailing his hands about as he tried to reassure his classmate while flustering himself, "A-ah! Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying you don't have any talent, really! It's just that… Something… In me tells me you're better off just living a normal life. I would call it experience but I don't really know where that comes from." his golden heart refusing to let the conversation end on a sour note.
The two continued walking in silence for a few minutes, a thick air of awkwardness hanging between the two before Izuku decided to ask a question that had been bubbling in his mind, "Say, Kamado… You always come up with these weird analogies and that there's always something in your coming up with things you just… Follow. What's up with that?"
Tanjiro flinched and rubbed the back of his head, stopping to think about an answer that would make sense, "Well… You know how I've been diagnosed with Amnesia right?"
"Yeah, it's common knowledge among the school. You're half-famous for it."
"I guess they're just parts of my past life." Tanjiro lied with a smile.
"I've read about that in comics! Sometimes the hero has Amnesia but parts of his past crack through before he comes back into action!" Izuku responded while beaming.
Tanjiro chuckled before continuing to walk to school, "I don't know too much about how that works, but I feel like it's more than just that. Maybe someday I can come up with the full story. Right now I'm not confident enough to dabble in my past."
They had reached school by now and were attending classes, their teacher had started to talk about things related to the future such as what jobs the students wanted to get.
Though his way of wording it gave Tanjiro a little bit of confusion, "You guys are all third years now. It's time to start thinking serious about your futures." the teacher practically yelled while aggressively flailing a piece of paper in his hand around, "I would hand out these future career forms, but…"
Like the weather the man shifted his rage-filled demeanor to a gentle smile, throwing all the papers on his desk into the air behind him, "...I assume you all want to be Heroes!"
The class erupted into a show-off of Quirks, leaving Tanjiro a little dumbfounded on whether or not he should follow the example, but he had none. Tanjiro was effectively Quirkless, but he was registered as having one due to his Demonic nature.
"Yes you all have wonderful Quirks! But you know that it's against the rules to use them in school." the teacher continued causing the class to calm down somewhat, until an all-too-familiar voice breached the new silence, "Sensei! Don't lump me in with these losers!"
