Avatar Korra was riding on top of her large pet polar bear dog Naga towards one of the finest Jewelry stores in Republic city. She got off from the cute creature and gave her a hug.
"Stay here Naga and be a good girl." Korra told."I'll be right back."
When Korra entered the Jewelry shop, she was surprised that there weren't that many people inside.
"Avatar Korra! You're just in time!" Varrick greeted her with a friendly handshake. "I thought you chickened out or something. Believe me, I'm more than happy to help in whatever way I can especially when it comes to finances, because you know? I'm filthy stinking rich!" Varrick laughed, a little too loud. Korra let out an awkward smile, slightly regretting her decision to come.
"That's great. Thanks Varrick." Korra told. Zhu Li approached Korra out of nowhere, startling the avatar out of her boots.
"So Korra, Varrick told me that you wanted to buy a ring for Asami?"
"Yeah, I thought that maybe its time for us to take our relationship to the next level." Korra blushed lightly.
"Exactly!" Varrick told. "You know, I remember thinking the same thing with Zhu Li. I was nervous at first but when I bought that ring, my whole perspective changed and my worries were long gone." Varrick gently grabbed Zhu Li's hand and showed Korra the ring he gave her. "Would you look at that? Beautiful ain't it?"
"Yeah it is." Korra told.
"Well, not as beautiful as Zhu Li." Varrick said, making his wife blush from the compliment.
"Oh Varrick." Zhu Li smiled, both of them giggling at each other. Korra just looked at them, feeling like a third wheel of some sort. She then proceeded to look at the rings that were displayed on the glass case near the counter. There were a lot of varieties of gems and crystals but the one that caught her eye was the emerald ring that kept shimmering in the light. It reminded her of Asami's eyes.
"I would like this ring, please." Korra pointed.
"Certainly ma'am." The man on the counter told. "May I ask, who the lucky boy is?"
"It's for a girl, actually." Korra told, smiling innocently.
"A girl? Oh..." The man scoffed and looked at her with a mocking expression. Korra looked at him, feeling a bit offended.
"I'm sorry, did I say something funny?" Korra pouted.
"No." The man shook his head and handed Korra the ring box. "Congratulations."

Meanwhile, a certain spiky haired detective was marching toward the United Republic police department with an important document on his hand. While he was walking, he didn't even acknowledge the people he crossed paths with, his primary goal was to get to Chief Lin Beifong's office and discuss something urgent with her.
Mako opened the door without knocking and entered the chief of policies' office. Lin was busy reading some files. She noticed Mako entering the room. She took off her reading glasses and gave him a stern expression.
"What is it, Mako?" Lin asked. "Shouldn't you be working on that abduction case?"
"I am, chief but something came up." Mako told. He handed the document to her.
"What is this?" Lin asked, scanning the file.
"Its another kidnapped victim. It happened late last night."
"Holy spirits!" Lin quickly stood up, smashing her arm on her desk. "This is getting out of hand!"
"I know but I can solve this case, chief. I just need a partner to help me."
"Well, I'm afraid all of our staff members are preoccupied with other cases." Lin told. "Looks like you're on your own."
"I see." Mako sighed in disappointment.
"Hold on." Lin told, stopping Mako from leaving the room. "What about your brother?"
"What, Bolin?"
"Yes, is he available?"
The door suddenly opens and in comes the green eyed earth bender himself.
"Hey guys, wonderful day we're having." Bolin said, sliding his way next to his elder brother.
"Speak of the devil." Mako told. "I thought you were at Zaofu?"
"I thought so too but anyway I couldn't help but overhear that my big bro here needs a partner." Bolin told.
"That's right. Are you up for the job?" Lin asked. Bolin gave a quick salute to Lin but fails, awkwardly hitting his eye doing so.
"Ouch! I mean, yes. Yes I'm up for the job." Bolin said, giving two thumbs up at Lin while Mako just sighed and face palmed.

Later afternoon
Asami was giving a brief presentation inside of the Future Industries auditorium. Lots of her coworkers as well as Varrick Industries board members were present during the meeting. When Asami was about to change over to the next slide, she saw the love of her life enter the auditorium from way over the other side of the room. The audience noticed Asami waving which made a couple of heads turn. Korra waved her hand at Asami and proceeded to an empty seat in the back. Asami continued her presentation until she turned it over to some of her trusted advisers.
Korra went backstage looking for Asami. She approached a young man with glasses and asked him where Asami was. He pointed to the nearest door. When Korra had entered Asami's office, the emerald eyed girl caught the avatar off guard with a playful hug followed by a passionate kiss. After kissing for a hot minute, both of them stopped to catch their breath.
"I missed you so much." Asami told, eyes dilated with a hint of longing.
"I miss you more." Korra replied, wiping a tear from Asami's left eye. "I'm sorry I took so long, my dad really needed me back at home."
"I'm just happy you're back here with me." Asami said. "I couldn't stop thinking about you."
The door opened and a guy peered in the room. When he caught sight of the two girls hugging one another, he immediately apologized and closed the door. Asami sighed, holding both of Korra's hands firmly.
"I can't wait to catch up with you." Asami said, smiling from ear to ear.
"Hmm… about that. You wanna go out on a date?" Korra asked.
"I'd love that." Asami said. "Quans cuisine?"
"I was actually thinking of surprising you on our date this time." Korra grinned.
"When?"
"Tomorrow night. In one of the most romantic places in the city."
"I hope it's not in the air temple. I just want us to be alone together, without any distractions." Asami whisphered seductively, making Korra's knees shiver.
"Trust me, Sami, you're gonna love it."
