It wouldn't take long before Tanjiro's legal guardian picked the boy up after the exam, and Toshio was sure to bombard Tanjiro with questions regarding how the exam went before they drove off.

Toshio was in a good mood, very clearly so. There was music blaring in the car as the old man sung along and every now and then nudged Tanjiro to try and get him to sing along too, when he realized that didn't work and merely got a few awkward smiles back he decided to up do something else, "So, how'd the exam go?" he asked as he kept his eyes on the road, but still managed to give Tanjiro an interested glance.

"It was… Unique." Tanjiro began as he thought back to the exam, "They had us fight these big robots in a whole mock cityscape, so everything went like 'boom!' and 'pow pow!', leaving wrecks everywhere, and I think I even made a friend!" He said whilst beaming towards his guardian, "Although there was a written part of the exam too which was held after, it wasn't as interesting though."

Toshio let out a good laugh before taking one hand off the steer and giving the passenger a firm pat on the back, "You've really changed a lot, you know?" he said with a big grin, to which Tanjiro just tilted his head in confusion, "I mean, come on. When I first took you in you were overwhelmed by so many things and you never really had a liking to Heroes." Toshio responded before letting out a pleased sigh, "But look at you now. Now you're trying to become a Hero yourself. You know, when I called that old friend back regarding your changes he said something like 'I figured he'd eventually end up on that path.', Like he knew you. But then again, you were a confused kid and probably were just healing up at my place."

Neither of them said anything after for a while, so Toshio decided to keep talking, "By the way, do you know whether or not you'll get accepted?" he asked, Tanjiro in response clearly thought about it before he just shook his head, "I don't know yet, but there were the top eight, I think they'll get in for sure!"
"Do you know any of them?" Toshio asked with intrigue in his voice, "Yeah, Midoriya and Bakugo from my class got in the top eight, I'm really proud of them!"

For the rest of the car ride, Toshio was able to get Tanjiro to sing along for a while, which meant they arrived back home in high spirits.
As they left the car, Toshio decided to ask one final question before returning to daily life, "Do you happen to know when you'll get notified whether or not you'll get accepted or not?"

"I think it'll take about a week." Tanjiro responded as the two entered the storefront and headed to the apartment space, "A week, huh? That'll give you enough time to cool down and recover, fighting robots probably took a toll on you."

To be fair, it hadn't. Tanjiro wouldn't lose stamina as easily as the everyman, but the Gimmick Robot did shake him up a little mentally, "I guess you could say that." he responded as a middle ground.
"A whole week to think about your future, kid. Use it wisely." Toshio said as he ruffled Tanjiro's hair, causing the boy to laugh somewhat.

A whole week…
...Soon passed.

The sound of a letter's landing brought the old man downstairs in the evening, he grabbed the letter from the ground and gave it a good look before noticing the U.A. signage, almost beaming himself he went back upstairs and opened the door to Tanjiro's room, "The letter is here, kid. Don't keep an old man waiting." he said as he handed the boy the letter in question who stared at it for a short while before opening it and taking out the letter...
...Or the metallic disc inside, Tanjiro looked at it for a while before just placing it on his desk causing the disc to whirr and display a projection.

One that showed a little rat-looking person in a tidy room that could be described as an office, said 'little rat-looking person' then began to speak, first clarifying that this was just in fact a projection and a pre-recorded message, before briefly talking about the Entrance Exam, and then giving the big news…

Tanjiro was accepted into U.A. and would be part of Class 1-A.

Tanjiro and Toshio effectively erupted into cheers as Tanjiro would now begin his journey to become a Hero and save those he deems in need of saving.
"Way to go kid." Toshio managed to say in between cheers, "I hope you'll make a fine hero someday."
