Chapter 3 - Welcome to U.A.
"You're not forgetting anything, are you?" Toshio asked as he made sure to give Tanjiro a firm eyeing after the boy got dressed in the U.A. School Uniform he had received, and after the boy stood ready by the front door with his bag in hand, ready to head out and begin his enrollment at U.A., giving an accepting nod of the boy's appearance after.
In response, Tanjiro gave his bag a firm pat and nodded, "I made sure everything's ready. No need to worry!"
Toshio's huff and smile back made the moment last a little longer, before Tanjiro opened the door and left, waving to the old man and leaving for school for the day.
Tanjiro was used to public transport, he'd lived in this world for long enough to learn how they work after all. Logically he took the train when headed to school considering it was quite a distance away.
He found himself humming while seated, staring out the window as he watched the city he lived in move past, eager to start whatever training U.A. could possibly throw at him to make him a Pro-Hero.
People got on, people got off. The usual.
Though, one of the people gave Tanjiro an odd feeling. Mainly through his scent, he was anxious, like he didn't want to be caught. Yet his scent also had a tinge of confidence.
Tanjiro had seen a lot of odd people in this day and age, Quirks could do weird things to your body after all. But this guy's scars caught Tanjiro's attention.
This person looked like he went through some nasty things, to be fair it reminded him of Oyakata's illness, weird dark spots under his eyes and covering his entire jaw, the same thing spreaded to his arms.
He was looking around while he sat down, he came over as a hooligan. Scanning the people in the bus and Tanjiro could've sworn that the guy glared at him specifically.
Luckily, Tanjiro's stop wasn't too far away, so he didn't have to get startled too much by him anymore.
As he got off, Tanjiro could've sworn that the guy gave him a good look before he was out of sight.
"Odd." was all that was on Tanjiro's mind as he left the train station, oh well, he was near his destination. Just a minor jog in one direction and he'd be at the U.A. school building, which was massive by the way.
"1-A… 1-A… 1-A…" he muttered to himself as he walked through the halls of the school, trying to find the class he had been designated to. When he found it he was a little dumbfounded by the sheer size of the door but he figured that it was meant to give more access to people with Quirk-mutated bodies.
So, he opened the door and stepped in, noticing he was one of the first to arrive today.
He was the fifth to be exact, the other people were… Interesting looking to say the least, a boy who looked a little self-absorbed and rich, a girl with long dark green hair that was the bow, a boy whose head looked like a rock, and another boy who had double-colored hair, one side was white and one side was red.
An interesting cast of characters already, Tanjiro stepped in and looked for his seat. Seat number 16, didn't take too long to find.
He placed his bag under his table and silently sat down, everyone else seemed to be waiting for now since they arrived so early.
So the time ticked by, and more people arrived. A boy with a tail, a girl with weird ear-appendages, a rather tall-built boy with glasses that Tanjiro recognized from the Entry Exam, another tall-built boy with a mask and a clearly Arm-related Quirk, and then…
"Tokoyami!" Tanjiro yelled while standing up, recognizing the boy's distinct bird-like head and logically attracting everyone's attention, he left his seat and walked up to the Fumikage who looked back at him, "Oh, Kamado. I see you made it in too."
"Hm! I'm glad to see you made it, too! You were great during the exam!"
Tanjiro could see Fumikage briefly break eye contact similar to when Tanjiro praised him after they left the Examination site, "You're giving me too much praise."
"You're too humble." Tanjiro said with a wide smile, an infectious one that usually got his allies to smile too, back when he was still a Slayer. Though birds don't really have the muscles needed to smile.
Logically, the way Tanjiro acted got everyone's attention, and Tanjiro didn't even realize all the other people entering the class even when Fumikage slightly pushed him aside to let the others enter, though a certain shoulder-push caught Tanjiro's attention.
So he looked back, quickly locking eyes with good old Katsuki. The same as ever, merely scoffing at Tanjiro's remote attempt at establishing the groundwork for a small chat causing the boy to sigh, "He still hasn't changed."
"Have you two met before?" Fumikage asked after Tanjiro's comment, to which the boy nodded, "We were classmates in our previous school too. And he was always a bit of trouble."
"I see."
Tanjiro huffed, smiling again after. If Katsuki was here, Izuku would show up sooner or later too. So he continued his chat with Fumikage near his own desk which was apparently only two seats away from his, with that white-red haired boy in between them who didn't seem to mind their conversation so close to him.
Problem was, Katsuki's desk was also right next to Tanjiro's seat which was likely going to cause trouble in the future, for now Katsuki atleast kept some distance.
Pretty much everyone but Izuku had arrived eventually, and it made Tanjiro a little wary until more footsteps were present outside the classroom and the door opened a few seconds after. Izuku slightly peeked into the classroom but stopped upon laying eyes on one of the scenes unfolding in class, one Tanjiro himself hadn't paid much attention to.
Apparently, during Tanjiro's chat with Fumikage, Katsuki had decided to sit down at his desk and put his legs to rest on his desk, which the glasses-wearing boy didn't approve of and was actively telling him off rather harshly which logically resulted in the two arguing rather heavily.
Tanjiro sighed, U.A. was certainly going to be interesting.
