While the tall-built glasses guy was confronting Izuku about something that didn't interest Tanjiro too much he decided to ask Fumikage something that's been on his mind. And for a good reason.
"Hey, Tokoyami, do you happen to know where the teacher is? I'm used to the Teacher always being there fairly early but so far he hasn't shown up." Tanjiro worded as he kept an eye on the door, watching a few more students enter the classroom and happily join the growing crowd around Izuku.
Fumikage eyed the door as well for a few seconds, before he shook his head, "No, sorry. I haven't got a single clue."
Tanjiro sighed, he was expecting various norms to be broken from the start, but he would like to start class by now. For now he had to entertain himself with small talk and watching the crowd that seemed to have a strange interest with Izuku, either he made himself popular at the entrance exam or he was popular before. He decided to quench his curiosity and approached the crowd, waving his hand around to get Izuku's attention who would definitely recognize him. Which he did.
"Kamado?!" Izuku yelled out loud as he saw Tanjiro approach, "You're here too?!"
Tanjiro effectively beamed at the answer before nodding, "I heard you took out that big gimmick robot! That's amazing!" he said, clearly making Izuku blush in the process. Apparently Tanjiro had a knack for doing that.
"Uhm, excuse me. You two know each other?" the girl that stood by him asked at that moment, Tanjiro simply nodded to the question as he continued beaming at Izuku.
Their little moment would then be interrupted as a faint shuffling sound was heard by the door, everyone stepped aside as someone in a sleeping bag effectively wormed their way over to the door opening. "If you're here to socialize, then get out." he said as he… Took out a sort of juicebox from the sleeping bag. "This is the hero course." he continued with a deadpan face as he slurped the box empty in one go, leaving everyone at the door dumbfounded and attracting the attention of the other students.
The class was effectively shook silent by this guy's entrance as he stood up in the sleeping bag, unzipping it and stepping out, "It took you eight seconds to quiet down, time is a precious resource. You lot aren't very rational, are you?" he asked, still wearing that same expression on his face that told everyone in the room he'd rather be doing something else.
By his way of wording things Tanjiro rationalized, as much as he disliked it, that this would be their teacher.
And as it to confirm this the man in question continued speaking while looming over the class, "I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Pleased to meet you."
After this… Odd introduction, Shota rummaged around in his sleeping bag, pulling out a uniform right after and presenting it to the class, "Quickly now, change into your gym clothes and head out to the grounds." he said while doing so.
The class logically did as instructed, with Shota already waiting outside the students quickly grouped up, waiting for whatever their homeroom teacher would have in mind.
Which came quickly. As was explained it would be a test of their quirks, the class being quick to shout an accusing repeat of the last part back at their teacher.
"What about the entrance ceremony, or guidance sessions?" one of the students asked in return, simply getting a dead-panned response back. "No time to waste on that stuff if you want to become heroes." Shota answered like he'd done so many times before, as if smelling the confusion in the air he decided to continue, "U.A. is known for its 'freestyle' education system. That applies to us teachers aswell."
Shota turned to face the class, presenting the area they'd clearly be training at. "Softball throwing, The standing longjump, The 50 meter dash, Endurance training, Grip strength, Side to side stepping, Upper body training, Seated toe touch. You did all these in middle school, yes? Your standard no-Quirks allowed gym tests."
It was clear now, the idea of the tests that their teacher had in mind, Tanjiro had by now rationalized that the idea was to test someone's full strength that included their Quirk.
...Or Demonic Strength in Tanjiro's case, but that was technically a well kept personal secret.
"Kamado, how far could you throw in middle school?"
Tanjiro was snapped back to reality, not realizing he had somewhat dozed off into memory lane when thinking. "Ah-! Eighty-three meters!" he hastily replied.
"Great, come over here. Try it with your quirk." Shota commanded after and Tanjiro complied, standing in the circle Shota gestured towards before he tossed a ball at Tanjiro to throw, Tanjiro caught it.
"Do whatever you need to, just don't leave the circle." he said, and Tanjiro took a deep breath. Filling his lungs with as much air they could hold before reeling his arm back, he never really tried it but this time he'd handle this ball like thrusting a sword. Taking the ball firmly in the palm of his hand before launching his arm outwards, with all his strength combined launching the ball in question into the distance.
A device in Shota's hand beeped a few moments later prompting him to speak again, "It's important that you know your limits. That's the first rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you'll be." he said as he held the device out for everyone to read.
623.7 meters, it displayed, prompting some praise from his class.
"...Awesome, you say?", it felt like a stab to the gut, causing the class to go silent and allowing Shota to continue, "You're hoping to become heroes after three years here, and you think it will be all fun and games? Right. The one with the lowest score across all eight events will be judged hopeless… And will be expelled."
It was like a stereotypical villain standoff in a cartoon, where the villain manages to create panic across the group of heroes with a single monologue. Most of 1-A was immediately on edge and rightfully so, to be accepted into U.A. yet to also immediately be threatened with expulsion was something that would get any normal person on edge.
To top it off, Shota's normal dead-pan expression turned into a grin, one that seethed with insanity. "Your fates are in our hands. Welcome. This is the hero course at U.A."
