A/N: Hey guys, this is my first ever Transformers story so don't judge me too harshly if I get some things wrong as I'm not super crazy on the lore but I do know the basic stuff. This will be an OC x Wheeljack story with my OC bot Trailfire. Anyway, enough from me for now and I hope you enjoy.

Our Protector

The sun was shining in the sky over Tampa Florida and over by a nearby Scrapyard, there was a little girl sitting in the shade on a small barrel next to a large pile of scrap drinking from a small bottle of water. She also had a little robot with her that she built by herself and would sometimes talk to, "Boy, it sure is hot today. Wouldn't you agree, Scrapper?" Scrapper looked at the girl and nodded its head and replied,

"Beep, boop beep."

The girl then smiled at the bot and let out a small giggle as she said, "Oh, I didn't even tell you my name, did I Scrapper? It's Mary. Let's have a look around and see what else we can find, shall we?" Scrapper looked back at Mary before spinning around in a circle and jumping up and down in excitement and replied,

"Beep! Beep."

After Mary took another sip from her bottle, she put the lid on and hopped off the barrel she was sitting on. Before she then began walking down on the nearby corner as her bot Scarpper began rolling on its wheel after her. Mary was smart for a girl her age and she loved tinkering with whatever mechanical piece she could get her hands on.

They walked for a few minutes before they stopped in front of what looked to be a garage, Mary looked down at Scrapper and smiled as she said, "Well buddy, I think we found something big this time! I wonder what's inside?" Scrapper gave Mary a confused look and replied,

"Boop? Beep, beep."

Mary then walked towards the shutter and lifted it up, slowly raising it and revealing what was inside. After lifting the shutter as high as she could, Mary slowly walked inside and took a look around until her eyes spotted a old, classic looking car and began walking towards it as Scrapper followed her. As they got closer to the car, they could see it had a silver paintjob with a couple of black stripes going across either side of it. It also had a large hole in the hood and some of the paint around the hole had been chipped, exposing the slightly rusted metal frame underneath.

Once they were standing next to the car, Mary looked at Scrapper and smiled as she said, "We definitely hit the jackpot buddy! Even if it does look a little retro for my liking. It looks like it needs a little fixing up as well." She then added, "I wonder who would leave something like this way out here?" Mary then slowly opened the door and climbed inside the driver seat, she was a little small to reach the accellerator and brake pedals.

She dusted off the steering wheel and revealed a symbol in the middle, Mary perked a brow at the symbol as she said, "I've never seen a logo like this before, I wonder what company it belongs to?" Suddenly, the car roared to life which startled Mary a little. It then slowly began raising itself off the ground as it started transforming and Mary fell to the ground with a thud.

After the car had finished changing, Mary looked up in shock at a giant feminin robot staring back at her with bright blue eyes. She slowly started backing away from the giant robot as she said out of shock, "What the hell? I didn't know there would be a freaking robot here!" a blue beam shot from the robot's eyes as it scanned her, after it was finished with the scan the robot said,

"Unidentified Lifeform detected. Waiting on orders on how to proceed with current mission."

The robot then clutched at its chest as a glowing green substance fell from its chest before it said, "Energon, running low. Must seek a medical bot." Scrapper then rolled over to Mary to check on her, however, this seemed to enrage the robot as its arm changed into a weapon and aimed it at Scrapper as it said, "Scraplet detected, Preparing to eliminate target."

Mary then scrambled to her feet and waved her arms in front of the robot as she replied, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Take it easy, Scrapper isn't an enemy. and I'm not going to hurt you either. You're hurt right? Maybe I can help?" The robot then gave Mary a confused look and asked,

"What lifeform are you? Identify yourself."

Mary then slowly moved towards the giant robot in front of her and held out her hand as she replied, "I am a human. My name is Mary. I can help fix that wound of yours, if you'll let me. You got a name?" The robot's arm then changed back to a hand as it knelt down towards Mary to get a closer look at her, still clutching its chest with its other arm before it then slowly said,

"I…am Trailfire. How can you mend my wound, human?"

Then Mary took a deep breath and looked at Trailfire as she replied, "Well, for a start I need to find something big enough to cover that hole in your chest. That way, you won't leak any more…energon I think you called that glowing stuff, right?" Trailfire looked at Mary and nodded her head and said,

"That is correct, human."

Mary then began looking around the garage for something she could use to cover the hole in Trailfire's chest. After a few minutes of searching, she found a large sheet of metal and began slowly dragging it back to show Trailfire. Mary then looked up at Trailfire while trying to catch er breath as she said, "We could use this. But…we would need to cut it down to the right size and shape first."

Trailfire then picked up the sheet of metal with one hand as her arm changed into a blade, before she then sliced a circular shape in the sheet and poked the shape out from the sheet. The shape landed on the ground in front of Mary with a thud which made her jump a little, as Trailfire looked down at Mary as she asked, "Perhaps this will work, human?" pointing at the circular shape on the ground.

Mary picked up the circular shape off the ground and looked up at Trailfire and smiled as she replied, "Yes, this should be big enough to cover that hole. It might be easier if I attached this to you in your car mode though, since I didn't see a tall enough ladder I could use to reach you when I was looking around earlier."

Trailfire nodded her head at Mary as she said, "Very well human. once I am patched up, I can continue my mission." before she then transformed back into the classic car she was when Mary first found her. Mary put on a welding mask she found and placed the circular shape over the hole on the hood, it surprisingly fit perfectly. As she held the circular shape in place, she held out a small blowtorch after igniting it and looked at Trailfire and said,

"This might sting a little."

Trailfire's headlights blinked a couple of times as she said, "This wouldn't be my first time I've been patched up, human. Proceed." Mary nodded her head before flipping her mask down as she began fusing the circular shape to Trailfire's chest. After she had finished, Mary lifted her mask and looked at Trailfire as she smiled and said,

"There. All done."

Trailfire's lights blinked again as she replied, "Thank you human, you return home now. Your parents must be worried about your location." As those words reached Mary, she sat down on the ground and put her knees up to her chest as she looked at Trailfire and said,

"I don't have a home. both of my parents are gone, I don't have anyone to look after me."

Some tears then began falling from her eyes, before Mary then slowly stood up again and slowly started walking away from Trailfire as she sniffled, "I get it. You don't want me either. I'll just leave you alone, sorry I disturbed you. Come on Scrapper, let's go." Scrapper then slowly rolled over to Mary, following behind as she continued walking towards the shutter.

Trailfire's lights blinked once more as she hesitantly said, "Wait…human." Mary stopped and turned to face Trailfire as she added, "I'm…sorry for upsetting you. You fixed my wound, maybe…I can return the kindness you gave me by helping you in some way?" Mary smiled slightly at Trailfire and replied,

"How about you be my bodyguard and in exchange of you keeping me safe, I'll tell you anything you want to know about Earth. Sound good?"

Trailfire's lights blinked again as she said, "I…I think I can manage to keep you out of harms way human. And I would like to learn more about you humans and this planet. You have a deal." before she then slowly rolled towards Mary. As Trailfire got closer, Mary gently climbed onto the hood and laid down looking up at the night sky and asked,

"So…Trailfire, if you're not from Earth. Where did you come from?"

The lights on Trailfire blinked as she replied, "I am…was from Cybertron. I'm not even sure if there are others like me on this planet. Let alone if my home is even still in one piece because of the war." Mary could tell that there was some sadness in Trailfire's voice, she looked down at Trailfire and said,

"If you're here, then…I'm sure there are others like you here as well. Maybe we could try looking for them." before she then added, "Oh and you don't have to keep calling me "human." Just call me Mary."

Trailfire's lights blinked as she replied, "I'll try to remember that in future, hu- I mean…Mary. It may take me some time getting used to saying that."

Suddenly, Trailfire could hear some low rumbling of engines heading in her direction and blinked her lights at Mary as she said, "Mary, get inside the garage. We may be having company." Mary did as she was told as she got down from the hood and ran inside the garage, with Scrapper following behind her.

The vehicles Trailfire heard from earlier finally stopped in front of her, she could see that one of the vehicles was a red coloured sports car while the other one was a dark blue coloured truck. The vehicles then transformed into robots and they both appeared to be male looking in design, the red coloured bot looked at Trailfire and smiled as it said, "And here I was thinking Starscream had sent us on another wild goose chase. Looks like things are gonna be interesting after all, Breakdown."

Breakdown then smiled back at the red coloured bot as he replied, "For once I agree, Knockout. We could easily kick this bot's tailpipe." Trailfire scowled at both Breakdown and Knockout and said,

"Should've guessed you Cons wouldn't fight fair. It's fine by me though, I like having the odds stacked against me."

Knockout then laughed at Trailfire, "Now then, while we could happily kick your tailpipe around. Let's not get too hasty. Tell us where the rest of your friends are hiding or we'll snuff out that fiery spark of yours." Trailfire readied her weapons as she scowled back at Knockout,

"I have no idea where the others are even if I wanted to tell you. So I suggest you guys turn around and go back to whatever Con infested hole you decided to crawl out from. Unless you want me to kick your tailpipes?"

Breakdown laughed at Trailfire, "You think you're some kind of hero? We have you outnumbered. You must really wanna have your spark snuffed out if you think you can take the two of us by yourself. What's your name, little hero?" Trailfire looked at Breakdown and replied,

"The name's Trailfire. And I'm no hero, I'm just a wrecker trying to finish my mission."

Both Breakdown and Knockout readied their weapons, before Knockout smiled as he noticed the repaired hole on Trailfire's chest as he said, "Seems like someone already tried to snuff out your spark. We'll be happy to finish the job!" While all three bots were staring each other down, Mary was looking on from inside the garage with concern as she looked at Scrapper and said,

"We have to find something to help Trailfire, buddy. There's no way they can take on both of these guys on her own."
