Chapter 4 - A series of Unforeseen Events
The next day felt like a total shock the moment anyone arrived, news reporters managed to utterly flood the U.A. school grounds all swarming to an unknown anonymous tip regarding All Might teaching at the school, causing said school grounds to go into lockdown after the problem got out of hand.
Before that, however. The reporters managed to harass several of the students that were just arriving to partake in the classes, which included Izuku, Tenya, Ochaco, Katsuki, and a certain Tanjiro, and likely more!
Not even the teachers were safe from the immense lust for knowledge the reporters were clearly expressing in a less-than-legal way, the reporters were even compared to Villains by one of the teachers of U.A.
U.A. was well protected, indicated by the immediate lockdown when that occurred when one of the reporters attempted to enter further onto the school grounds, sparking an outrage from the reporters that felt like they were entitled to a good story for the news.
Despite that, class had to continue and none of the teachers were willing to skip their classes simply because a few people without boundaries are trying to overstep said boundaries.
"Good work with yesterday's battle talent." Aizawa began as he placed a pile of papers onto the desk, still wearing a rather blank face, "I've looked over your grades and evaluations." He continued before scanning his eyes across the class, first locking onto Katsuki, "Bakugo, grow up already. Stop wasting your talent."
A mere silent "Got it" was all he got as a response, but in reality Aizawa wasn't looking too much for responses so he continued, "And… It seems Midoriya ended yet another day with a broken arm. Learn to control your quirk, because just trying isn't going to cut it." he continued in a monochrome yet scolding tone before continuing again, not caring about Izuku's extreme reaction, "I hate repeating myself, but you have potential, assuming you can overcome this. Work at it, Midoriya."
Consistent with Izuku's personality, he shouted a good "Okay!" back as a response.
Then Aizawa's eyes settled on the last student he seemed to be willing to address today, thus he began his final scolding, "Lastly… Kamado. Learn to hold back, I heard you gave someone a concussion during battle training. While I appreciate putting your back into it, you're still students."
Tanjiro figured he'd get told something like this, so all he did was nod in response.
With that out of the way, Aizawa decided to start the main topic of the day.
"Now, on to homeroom business... Sorry for the sudden announcement, but today…"
The class effectively tensed up, considering Aizawa's unpredictability it was a logical response, but… "...You'll pick a Class President." was all he wanted to say.
So, the class erupted into a frenzy of "Pick me" and various alterations of that line.
Effectively, for a few moments the class was in chaos until a voice of a student decided to cut through said chaos and call forth some normality, "Leading the many is a task of heavy responsibility…!" A familiar glasses-wearing student said as he stood up, making himself visible to the rest of the class, "But ambition does not equate ability! This sacred office demands the trust of its constituents! If this is a democracy, then I put forward the motion… That our true leader must be chosen by election!" Tenya monologued, while having his arm raised in a similar fashion to everyone else.
Several counterarguments came from the class, all boiling down to people not properly voting due to them also wanting to become Class President.
All the while, Tanjiro didn't make an effort to stick out, merely watching everything unfold as he was never the type to try and become Class President in any way. As long as everyone was able to work together it was fine, so he decided to word that.
"I don't really get why you all want the position so bad yourself, aren't we expected to work as a team regardless?"
With an argument like that you're going to attract quite a few eyes, which is exactly what happened, "While I understand your argument, a leading figure is needed to guide us in need!" Tenya argued back, so Tanjiro thought about it for a bit before he spoke back, "I get your point but… People already made quite a few valid points…"
"Exactly! That's precisely why anyone that manages to earn multiple votes is most suited for the position of leader! Will you allow this, sensei!?"
Aizawa, from within his sleeping bag, decided to respond in a way he hoped would make it quick, by saying just that, "However you do it, just make it quick."
And so, somewhat reluctantly, elections were held.
In the end, Izuku and a certain Momo were elected as President and Vice-President.
So, people decided to voice their oh so important opinions on the simple topic of Class Presidency, "What the… Who the hell voted for Deku!?" Katsuki wanted to yell, but stammering instead due to his own disbelief, "Guess we know it wasn't you!"
"Zero votes… I thought as much! This is the harsh reality of this sacred office…" Tenya voiced, shaking in a rather pathetic manner, which prompted a response from the new Vice-President. "So you voted for someone else...?", the perfect line to chime in on for another student, "You're the one who proposed an election. What exactly do you want, Ida?"
Of course, there were a few positive beams in the class, and one of them decided that through all the negativity he'd better voice a positive opinion to the clearly shaken and anxious Class President, "Congratulations, Midoriya! Do your best." Tanjiro said as he placed a hand on Izuku's shoulder, who jolted for a second due to the sudden contact, but quickly steeled seeing a friend congratulate him, "A-Ah, thanks Kamado, I'll do my best!"
That bit of comfort atleast gave Izuku the strength to stand upright before the class while Aizawa began to speak, "Fine, so your president's Midoriya and your Vice-President is Yaoyorozu."
Having a leading figure would likely steer the class in the right direction, atleast.
