Peter looked at the elevator's walls as he made his way out of Harry's and Norman's penthouse. His head was racing as he thought about people like Captain America and his uncle. His uncle didn't have any powers or suit like iron man did but he always fought for what he thought was right and in history books they always taught that the Captain didn't start fighting injustices when he got the serum.

He needed to step up, he may not have any powers but he felt like it was his responsibility to do something, especially now that he had gotten this sudden change in his body. He needed to do what was right regardless of how it might hurt him.

He felt a fire ignite within him as he made his way home, it was a relatively long walk from Manhattan to Queens but he wanted to burn off the calories he had just had. As he walked down the street he couldn't help but notice some thugs pushing a mutant into an alley. He knew that if the mutant did anything to defend himself the police would be against him and not the thugs. As a normal human he had to do something.

Peter sprung into action, making his way towards the alley, it felt natural to finally do something about these injustices.

"You freak, how dare you dirty up my shoes with that… I'm not even sure what it is" the man pushed the mutant against the wall. The mutant had a pale skin tone, his hair was this beautiful shade of red and he had some light freckles on his face, a pair of cute green eyes on his face.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to. I have a hard time controlling it" he tried to explain his situation to the bald man currently pinning him to the wall.

"Hey, let the kid go. He didn't mean it" Peter tried to talk at first, he didn't like to directly confront people even if he wanted to. He was sure if he couldn't resolve the problem peacefully he would get beat "If he can make that… stuff, I'm sure he can undo it"

"I-I can undo it, although it might le-" the red-head got cut off by the bald man, he was clearly not someone who knew how to defend himself.

"I don't care if he can undo it, this freak is a mutant. He deserves this just for existing" the man growled as he signaled his friends with his head towards Peter.

One of them would approach Peter, his fans formed into a fist which was ready to strike at his jaw. Peter didn't know how or why but it felt as if the world had slowed down to a crawl, he felt as if his head was vibrating, that's how he would have put it in the simplest of terms. The fist was only slowly approaching him, giving him time to dodge the punch, striking the guy on his abdomen with his fist, sending him directly against the wall.

"This isn't good" Peter thought out loud, if he had mutant genes and he didn't know, it could mean he would get it even worse at school, it could be horrible for him.

His thoughts got interrupted when he felt the same sensation as before, only this time stronger as the bald man had left the mutant and had pulled out a pocket knife. The other guy striking at him from the side, however as things went slow he thought about how to get out of here fast, he remembered a move from a show he and May had watched recently, he moved back and grabbed the arm that was hitting him with one of his hands, the other one the crooks belt, with one motion he would lift the guy up and throw him directly at the bald one "Run!"

The red-headed mutant would grab Peter by the arm and start running away, it was as if it wasn't the first time he had to run, his breathing was heavy as he moved relatively fast towards an alley "I think we are safe"

Peter would put his hands on his head as he looked at the guy he had just helped, his mind was racing as he tried to come up with an explanation as to what he just did "Thank you" he said as he tried to calm down, his heart racing as he looked at the red head "Could you… could you keep this a secret?" Peter was hoping he would understand, he needed to keep this whole power thing secret. Oh where were his manners, aunt may would be screaming at him "My name is Peter by the way"

"The name is Douglas" the redhead said stretching his hand "I'll do my best to keep this a secret, I know what it is when your powers first start manifesting" he would chuckle nervously, a white substance substituting sweat was running down his forehead.

"It's good to meet you, Doug" Peter would shake his hand, noting how sticky it felt "And… what's your mutant power if you don't mind me asking" Peter wasn't sure what the etiquette for this ordeal was.

"Oh… well… most people get cool powers like controlling the weather, making ice out of thin air or wings" he would then look at Peter "Or super strength. But me, I can turn my body into ice cream" he would lift his hand and slowly turn it into a mass of green colored ice cream.

Peter would gasp amazed at how it worked, his brain was working trying to figure out the ins and outs of how such a bizarre occurrence could even happen. "That's amazing, can you voluntarily change the flavor and temperature of it?" He wanted to pull out a notebook and write all about this occurrence, this was as fascinating to Peter as any other power.

Douglas couldn't help but smile, this was the first time anyone had complimented his powers instead of calling them useless or ridiculous "Yep, flavor and temperature. But it's not as cool as something like super strength"

Peter would shake his head "You can change the temperature, you could probably turn into a gaseous form of ice cream or even a liquid. That's amazing and the flavor might mean you can even make other organic materials like plant life"

Douglas would tilt his head, a puzzled expression on his face as he tried to figure out what Peter was saying, he talked too fast for him and his words turned into mumbling "Hey… I go to Midtown high school, we could maybe be friends if you go there as well"

Peter couldn't help but smile as he heard those words, he wasn't used to people wanting to befriend him "I would love to, I go to Midtown as well"

"Great. I hope to see you this Monday, Peter. Unfortunately I gotta go or my mother will worry about me, catch you soon" Douglas had started to walk away from Peter, waving as he made sure that those crooks had left already.

Peter took a deep breath and laid against the wall, thinking about the bizarre things that had happened today, maybe Aunt May wouldn't mind if he arrived a little late. One of the weird things he remembered was having got stuck to Harry, so he gave one look at the wall in front of him and decided to try and climb it.

Putting his fingers against the brick wall Peter would start to make his way up, this was amazing to him, it was as if the spider that bit him had given him all of its properties which made him wonder, why hadn't he shown any signs of being able to produce any webbing.

This question got thrown out of the window when he got on top, now how was he supposed to make his way down. And for how smart he was, he sometimes could be dumb. He took a leap of faith and jumped back down onto the alley, somehow landing properly on the concrete floor.

He knew it was dangerous to try his abilities, mutant or not, without some sort of uniform or disguise. So he decided to go home and start thinking of a disguise and a way to make some sort of webbing.

After a rather uneventful way home, Peter made his way into his bedroom, grabbing his invention notebook he decided to start with the web-fluid. Every time he used the notebook it brought back memories of his Uncle. Years ago they used to do science projects together and now with him gone, this was one of the many things that reminded him of the time they spent together.

He had recently read about a formula that Oscorp was working on, during his school trip he took a few pictures, it was supposedly the same fluid that spiders produced reduced to s simple chemical formula any student could recreate.

And so, he grabbed the leftover chemicals of a few experiments he had done in years past and got to work. The first experiment was successful, it was spider web, the most basic form of it.

And so began a process that took him the entire night, theorizing and writing in his notebook something that could possibly strengthen the web and make it only temporary and it was after hours of experimenting that he figured it out.

It was at this point that he noticed his alarm clock spelled out 4 in the morning and so he decided to do the sensible thing and take a short sleep, the outfit and web shooter designing process could wait.

Peter's dreams weren't anything unusual. His usual dreams had visions of his uncle before he died, his words of wisdom always present with him even after years of him gone. Peter looked up to him and wanted to be his best person because of his uncle.

Peter woke up with the fire in him stronger, he knew he had to be like the spider who bit him, he had to be strong enough to bite those who were stronger than him even if he wasn't, to face the odds even if they weren't in his favor, he was going to be a Spider, the Spider-Man.

He went straight to his notebook and started to do the basic sketches of an outfit, taking his inspiration out of the colors of spiders, Captain America and design queues out of urban legends like the Batmen. He wanted something that could inspire others just like his uncle had inspired him.

He saw how some spiders could glide with their webs and heard rumors of Batman using a cape to glide, he knew not all of the time he could be crawling through buildings so he needed something to travel, he also needed a field test for his webs.

He went through a few designs to incorporate the things he wanted for his suit but the final sketch he decided to use was a blue under suit with red along the hips that moved through the front with a strep that extended onto his shoulder and his arms, silver webs across the red with a web-like wing-suit, black boots on the suit and black on his fingers.

As he had finished the sketches of his spider-suit, he decided to use the time he had of his Sunday and go dumpster diving for electronic parts, he had a few ideas of what he would need to build his web shooters and he knew where to look, but first he remembered he hadn't eaten breakfast yet.

"Hi auntie" Peter had energy in him as he ran down the stairs, kissing his aunt on the cheek "What's cooking?" he smelled something amazing coming from the pan on the stove, his stomach growling as he helped set the table.

"Just eggs and bacon, Pete. Norman was nice enough to send us enough food to fill out the pantry" she smiled softly as she would put the scrambled eggs with pieces of bacon mixed into them. Her smile slowly faded away as she looked at Peter "However, you know I don't trust that man, something always feels off about him. I know Harry is your friend but you gotta be careful around his father" she would sit at the table.

The two at breakfast slowly, enjoying each other's company as silence was broken by Peter "He has always helped us stay afloat, he can't be that bad. Oscorp doesn't even make weapons" he tried to shrug off the fact that the spider that had bitten him was at Oscorp, it surely was a coincidence he was developing powers after that.

"Pete, you know that I don't trust his company, not after the accident with your uncle" she didn't like talking about the whole ordeal but she hoped Peter would understand.

Uncle Ben had been at one point been one of their oldest employees at Oscorp, almost been there since the start of the company, he was the head of the assembly line but one unlucky day he had fallen into one of the vats of acid the company used to manufacture batteries.

"Well, I'm sure Norman feels some guilt from that, if he didn't he wouldn't be sending us that money" Peter tried to clarify to her, with a smile, his death had hurt him a lot. He was like his father to him but Peter always had Ben's words with him, he knew Ben would want him to see the best even in the company that caused his death.

"Just be careful, Pete" after they had finished their breakfast, she would give Peter a warm hug "I don't want something like that to happen to you. By the way, I'll be taking a longer shift at the hospital starting tomorrow, so just remember to leave my kitchen clean" she would look at him and chuckle.
