Peter had a hard time navigating the landfill even with his enhanced agility, he wanted to keep himself as clean as he could, after all he was going to be buying fabric for his outfit. The feeling he had dubbed Spider-sense wasn't acting all up which he didn't understand, the dumpster was always a dangerous place. People trying to survive amongst the trash, the trash itself, surely something dangerous had to be around the place but why wasn't his sense activating, he could feel someone watching him.
His eyes looking around for any computer pieces or any metal at all in the dumpster was leading great results, he had already gotten enough broken down Stark, Hammer, Speedwagon and Wayne pieces of technology to build himself enough gadgets to fight crime, he didn't even know what to do with all of them, pushing all the pieces into one of his old backpacks.
As he was getting ready to leave the landfill his eyes noticed a shadow moving just as agile as him, it was also looking for parts he assumed, but something was off about it, it looked bulkier than that of a human, taller as well. He didn't know what to make of it, so he decided to leave, what harm could it do?
As he got away from the landfill, Peter took a deep breath, he felt bad for the people living there. The smell of trash was overwhelming, had he not been dumpster diving before he was sure he would have passed out, thankfully his clothes hadn't caught any smells yet.
His spider-sense tingling, not quite alerting him of danger but he knew he was being watched. He couldn't see where the stalker was and most importantly he didn't know if they were dangerous or not. He decided to take the subway to hopefully lose the person.
Peter sighed in relief as his Spider-sense stopped acting up, thankfully the train wasn't all too full, he could sit down and relax as the train made its way to its destination, he looked over at his haul of parts, it was a really nice amount of pieces, he recognized some of them as old parts but they would do.
His thoughts dwindling on the source of his power, no one in his family has any sort of mutant genes to his knowledge, at least that's what he thought. It had to be that Spider bite, he had heard Norman talk a lot about recreating the super soldier formula, testing it out in animals with different types of radiation, tt had to be that, it was a miracle he is alive. A one in a million chance for him to survive an encounter like that and he got super powers.
This was his chance to get a great responsibility, as soon as he arrived at his destination he would look around, thankfully he didn't feel anyone watching him as he made his way over to a fabric store. Looking around for the fabric he needed, first finding what he would use for the undersuit. But he stopped when he saw a piece of nylon with a web pattern, he loved the design and properties of it, it was just what he was looking for to make his suit have a wingsuit.
The rest of the material was a piece of cake, he felt really lucky with the nylon he had gotten and thankfully May had taught him how to sew his own things.
After checking out, he was completely out of cash, he couldn't afford to get back home on the subway, so he had to walk all the way home.
Thankfully the walk had been rather uneventful, the most exciting thing being some spare change on the floor that his spider-sense somehow told him about. He needed to figure out how it worked, if it could tell him about such simple things, he wondered if it could tell him about some more abstract and complex concepts.
As he got home he only had time to grab a quick sandwich, making his way right into his room, he had grabbed aunt May's sewing machine and had begun to work on his suit.
His handy work wasn't nearly as good as his aunt's, she had the experience of having done it for years now. But his work was good enough for a superhero outfit.
With his outfit done he decided he would work on the web shooters but not before hiding his suit in a spot he knew May would never look into.
How mechanical skills were something he could actually brag about, every single movement of his had already been thought of throughout the day, he knew where to put every part and how to attach it to the rest. He knew that with the right degree he could easily get into any of the big companies in a good position.
He knew he had a privilege no one had, super strength, extra sensory abilities and increased agility. With his suit he could stop any crime he put his mind into, where would he find those crimes was something he'd figure out later.
After having finished both of his launchers he took one look at his alarm clock "Shit" he thought to himself as he realized how late it was, tomorrow he had school and it was 2 am already.
Peter woke up with an intense headache, but he had no time to get over it, his alarm clock just starting to beep as he realized his spider-sense had woken him up. Shutting the thing up, he quickly ran to put on his suit under his clothes. He wanted to make sure that if there was going to be any crimes on his way from home that he could stop them.
Snapping his web shooters to his wrists and stretching, he moved down to look at his aunt getting ready for her longer shift "Morning, aunt May" he had a big smile on his face as he sat down, he had time for a quick breakfast even if he felt tired "What is that wonderful smell"
"You know, the usual" she had a soft melancholic smile on her face, flicking her wrist to flip up a pancake "Your favorite pancakes, my special recipe"
Peter's stomach growled with anticipation as he heard that "My morning just went from good to amazing"
She would put down a plate full of pancakes right Infront of Peter as she sat down at the table "Eat up, I'm sure you don't want to miss the bus" grabbing his fork, he would eat, the syrupy goodness and the buttery smooth flavors mixing in his mouth as he chewed. The soft flavors of the wheat pancakes absorbed the sweetness of the maple syrup and the flavors out of the butter. Each bite that he took was bursting with flavor.
On his aunt's face a smile formed as she saw her nephew enjoying her cooking, she was delighted with his enjoyment. She had always wanted a son but unfortunately she had never been able to get one, so she was glad that she could consider Peter her nephew.
After having finished his breakfast, Peter decided to make sure he was ready. Looking at the wall clock he saw that the bus was just about to arrive, he would move quickly to grab his lunch bag, attaching it to a little handle on his backpack. He would get out of his house and wait patiently for the bus to arrive.
As Peter got into the bus he would recognize some of his friends and the people who didn't like him. He always wanted to consider himself a loner but as he saw Harry and Mary Jane he smiled, they had always been his friends. Recently Bobby Drake and Angelica Jones had been accused of having mutant genes, that drove them down in popularity, they had recently approached him as their previous friend groups had left them.
He was sad that he had gotten new friends due to their own circumstances rather than for his own charisma but he couldn't look a gifted horse in the mouth. And slowly as his eyes scanned for an open seat in the bus he would spot someone he didn't think he'd find in his class, Douglas, he hadn't realized that there were people even less popular than him.
Without a second thought, he'd sit besides Douglas "Hi Duggy. Didn't know we were in the same class" Peter would smile at the redhead as he looked him over. He had to admit, the boy was pretty cute but chalked it up to him being a redhead, after all, Angelica and MJ always teased him about it.
"Oh Pete! I didn't expect to see you here either" Douglas would smile back, he enjoyed Peter's company and felt comfortable with him, especially after yesterday. His smile was warm despite his cold powers "I brought some snacks in case you wanted to eat with me"
Peter couldn't help but chuckle at how cute he was, he didn't know what was getting over him, he wasn't particularly sure if it really was the relatively long red hair or if he was just a little bisexual "Well, actually, I wanted to invite you to meet my friend group and eat over with us. I'm sure you'll like them"
"Oh. I appreciate it, Pete" Douglas would look away, look into the window "I had never been…" he felt his chest getting heavy as he tried to breathe in and out slowly "I had never been invited to have lunch at school before"
He understood that struggle, it was just a few years ago that he would have been in the same position as Douglas, he felt sympathy for him. He knew what he had to do as Spider-man for the city, he knew what his place as Spider-man was "Well, you better get used to it, because you are going to be part of our 'Super friends'" as Peter jokingly had dubbed them.
"Do you think they will like me?" Douglas would fiddle with his fingers, he felt nervous, anxiety coursing through his body. Trying to keep himself calm, he was sweating ice cream just like the day before. A nervous smile on his face as he had turned to look at Peter.
"I'm sure they will do, besides, if Flash ever gets near you. Bobby and Harry over there will step in, depending on which one is closer of course" Peter said, he wouldn't lie and say he was thankful that the two of them had stepped over to defend him constantly. He always looked up to them but he always felt like he was a fragile prince and he wasn't sure if he liked it or not.
"What about you? Or… do you want me to keep the" he would look around, not sure if it was fine to talk about what he was about to mention or not "strength" he would whisper to Peter, making sure not to be too loud.
"Yeah… I had never been like that and I want to make sure I know how to control myself and start working out so people don't suspect I am a mutant. No offense" Peter whispered, he tried to be polite but they had never taught them at school what the etiquette for this was.
"I understand why you would want to hide something like that, I mean, the years are changing and people start to become more accepting of others but even Cindy gets called names because she's partially Korean" Douglas admittedly had received bullying not just because of his mutant powers, his irish parentage had also been cause of bullying. But it increased tenfold when his mutant powers first started to show up.
"Thank you for understanding" Peter's smile was soft as he saw it in Douglas' eyes, he knew that look better than anyone else. He wanted to make him feel better, he felt a responsibility to do better.
After a few minutes, the school bus would arrive at Midtown high, it was a spacious building. The structure had been carefully designed to be one of the main high schools in the state of New York and specifically New York City. It was just on the border of Queens and Brooklyn.
To Peter this was just another normal Monday, he had hoped it would go by quickly without Flash bothering him but his hopes would crumble when his spider-sense started tingling. What was he supposed to do? If he dodged out of the way, Flash would notice, he had to dodge in a more unconventional manner. Peter tried to use his wits and his intelligence to figure out a plan, so he dropped a coin onto the floor, ducking away from the punch to grab it.
Flash would groan in pain as his fist hit the locker right behind Peter, holding his hand as he looked at Peter "Motherfucker, you got lucky this time didn't you, Pete. Your luck is running out however, I can't see your boyfriends around" Flash cracked his knuckles as he used his knee to hit Peter in the abdomen.
Peter didn't feel any pain but he groaned on instinct, bending over to protect his identity, he wanted to appear normal "Calm down Peter. He isn't hurting you, he can't right now" he thought to himself, he couldn't lie, he was nervous about his newfound powers.
"Flash, back off" Harry pulled Flash by the shoulder, hitting him square in the jaw "You don't want your father to lose his job at Oscorp do you?" Harry knew he had power over people due to his position as the son of the CEO of Oscorp and it was sometimes clear to Peter that he wasn't 100% a good person but this was too much for him.
Flash rubbed his jaw as he pushed past Peter, he clearly was angrier at Harry but he knew he couldn't do anything about it. His eyes glaring at Harry as he went over his locker.
"Harry… I know he is not a great person but that was too much" Peter would look up at Harry, he knew Flash had his own struggles, his father had beaten him up before but he still cared for him enough to send him to school and push him out of a life of crime. He was just like him and the worst he had done was to push him to lockers or punch him, he wasn't like other bullies, he didn't call him names too often and didn't threaten to kill him.
"I dislike Flash as much as the next guy and I know he deserves a beating, but his life shouldn't be ruined because at the end of the day, he is a person, just like you and me" Peter tried to explain to Harry. His eyes looking directly at Harry's as he tried to assert his opinion to his friend, he didn't want to see him following a similar road to that of Flash.
"Fine, I'm going to get his father fired. But I'm not doing it for him, I'm doing it because you asked" Harry took a deep breath and nodded, moving around as he tried to get his anger down. His heart was racing as he wanted to see the person who ruined Peter's life for years suffer for once in his life. His hands fiddled as if looking for something that he didn't have on him.
Peter smiled "I am glad he listened, even if he's not understanding, at least he listens" Peter thought to himself as he put some of the stuff he didn't need in his locker, and walked along the hallway to his classroom.
