"Doctor Baxter Stockman, a scientist that is relatively young for his age. He tried to get a job at Wayne Enterprises under the Wayne Medical division, he was unfortunately rejected due to his continuous obsessions with the Super Soldier Serum and how mutagens might be the key to recreating it" the batcomputer replied to a question Carrie had asked, she didn't know much but what the computer had told her. After seeing what drugs and chemicals had done to her now long dead parents, she couldn't understand why anyone would want to go further with that scientifical field.
"What about his work with robots, computer, can you tell us anything about that?" Jason groaned into the coms as he just wanted to get to the bottom of it, the drive to the Roxxon plaza was all too long with New York's usual traffic.
"During his years at the MIT Department of Chemical engineering, he took several side courses on robotics and engineering alongside an internship in Stark International at the time. His work included some impressive work on articulations which was unprecedented at the time" Computer replied matter of factly, sometimes Jason could swear the computer had a personality of its own.
"Out of all the scientists on our list, he seems to be the only one currently in this area of New York, plus he is working for Roxxon right now" Carrie spoke as she pulled Jason into taking a right turn "If he's not on our list, we have might have to travel further to Metro City or back to Gotham"
"Well going back to Gotham wouldn't be that bad, at least we know where the traffic jams are more common" Jason sped up as soon as they got into the emptier street, almost leaving Carrie behind.
Carrie rolled her eyes as she followed her adoptive brother without trying to drag attention to herself "Hood, I know we are out in the daylight but that's not a reason to do that you idiot" she groaned as she moved her bike right behind his, swerving with him to dodge cars and get as fast as they could to their destination.
Eventually they would arrive at the back of the building, looking at it carefully before pulling out their grappling guns. The two began to scale the building with precision and skill, trained by Batman, they were some of the most skilled people in the world at climbing buildings.
Carrie looked at the building and used the Batcomputer to look at what part of it was the doctor's one of her gadgets from her belt, she slowly cut a circle big enough for her along it, pushing it carefully as they both got in.
Carrie opened the door of the lab they were in from the inside, beckoning Jason to follow her, the Batcomputer temporarily disabling the cameras as they passed through the corridors of the Roxxon building "This place looks significantly more evil than Wayne Enterprises, Bruce at least adds warmer lights"
"Eh, it seems similar to me, all very cold and sterile" He trailed his hands through the wall, he wanted fingerless gloves for his suit but Batman declined and it annoyed him. At least he got to keep his red and black color scheme.
She opened the door into Baxter Stockman's laboratory, she found it curious that the Doctor wasn't there, according to the records of the company he should be here, yet the only thing that indicated that the doctor had ever been in the lab were robots of very similar designs to the one they found. The robots were carefully placed in small glass containers almost as a display to them.
"Look around Jason, see if you can find anything of interest like papers or notes or whatever" She walked around the place, trying to use her helmet to find anything. There were no fingerprints or footprints "Maybe the Doctor left, if he moved they might have sent him to another Roxxon facility or maybe he had been transferred over to another company or subsidiary" she thought to herself as moments of her training flashed before her eyes.
"It all looks just as barren over here, although there is a file cabinet with a lock, let me see if I can get it open" Jason pulled his lockpicking tools from his belt, one of the few things he kept from his time as a homeless kid, now upgraded to contain even more tools. His skill was unparalleled in lockpicking, his hands were steady and his tongue was out of his mouth as he tried to concentrate.
Carrie nodded in agreement as she looked outside the lab, keeping watch "Doesn't it seem weird to you that if they moved the doctor that this lab is still considered his?" Carrie's bike helmet got a warning as she noticed that the elevators were moving towards the floor they were at.
The file cabinet would eventually open as Jason stored his tools back into his belt "It seems like there's only a folder in here… this is too complex for me to read, let's take this back to the cave" he would close the file cabinet and walk over to her "Quick, let's go before someone notices we are here"
The two would move as fast as they could without bringing attention to each other, moving to their entry and exit point, the two would start to climb down the building as fast as they could, as soon as they got on their bikes they floored it.
Carrie looked over at the sky, the sun was setting down, she had no way of knowing if Spider-man's web was the same type of web as that of their unknown vigilante but she didn't know of any other person with spider powers "Batcomputer, connect to the NYPD's communications network and find any mentions of Spider-man in the past five hours with priority on the most recent ones"
"Spider-man has been spotted recently along the Bronx and upper manhattan" the Batcomputer spoke out into the coms as the two Robins immediately changed their course up there, the two bikes speeding up.
Carrie spotted Spider-man leaving a card on the card, he was partially out of breath from what she could tell "There he is, lets approach him slowly" she started walking towards him as she got off her bike.
"SPIDER WE HAVE TO TALK" Jason yelled as he got off his own bike, he stretched as he made his way towards the man in spandex. Carrie hitting him on the arm with her elbow, a sigh coming from her mouth.
"Uhm sure? Although I hope this is quick because there's quite a lot of panic going on today, I hope you guys understand" He spoke out, scratching the back of his head as he looked up and down at the two.
"We have reason to suspect you were involved last night on a chase that involved quite a bit of mayhem" Carrie started to question him as she held a notepad, writing some details on it as she looked at him up and down.
"Well, I may or may not have, but why would that matter to you guys? As far as I have heard you two and your boss never leave Gotham" He said with an eyebrow raised up as he turned the conversation around.
"There's nothing too interesting today, plus the Bat would like to know if you are a lethal protector" Jason laid against a light pole, he didn't get why anyone would wear such a bright color scheme, just wearing red would attract plenty of attention but the blue was too much for him.
"Well, as Red Robin said, we like to keep tabs on other vigilantes, in particular those that are near Gotham… besides that, we would like to know the details of that night as with all the evidence we have you could be a mercenary" She calmly said, looking up from her notebook towards the New York City vigilante.
"Very well… I have lived my whole life here at New York City, I might not know every person but I received a rumor from a friend about some homeless people disappearing, at first I didn't want to believe it so I went and investigated, I dug around and found out that in fact that was true" His body had many subtle reactions that led Carrie to believe that he was nervous, she could see his head looking all around.
"Hey Red, mind checking out the radio to see if something's going on while I hear the rest of his story?" Carrie would tell that something might be going on, she could feel the ground shaking slightly under her boots and the fire department trucks going somewhere.
"There were documents in the warehouse, I could see that they had been testing on them and the chemicals they were moving around… they are dangerous" he turned to her and shot a web into a building, turning towards her "I have to go and see what's going on, I'm sorry" he pulled himself up as he would start swinging towards the direction the trucks were going.
"Apparently there is a monster in Harlem that's causing destruction, I don't know if we can handle it, Glasses" he said as he got onto his bike, turning to face her. He had hoped that the Hulk wasn't real but this felt exactly like a description of the hulk.
"We have to help Spider-man save those people, he won't be able to do it alone, we at least need to help with evacuations" She jumped onto her bike, accelerating and driving off to follow him, doing a wheelie in the process as her bike started moving at high speeds.
As they arrived at the scene of the destruction, they couldn't believe their eyes. A green scaly giant was destroying everything in his path, seemingly trying to get attention as he screamed "Banner" into the air.
"Red, remember that upgrade you considered useless?" Carrie said driving towards a burning building, accelerating as she drove into it.
"I hate it when he's right" Jason said as he trailed after Carrie, their bikes charging through the buildings as trails of the same chemicals in fire extinguishers were pumped from the sides of them, clearing out some of the fire in a building as they pulled any civilians they found onto their bikes.
Spider-man was moving through the fire, dodging it in unnatural ways but Carrie couldn't help but brush off the feeling that he was just a rookie. His movements were sloppy and purely on instinct, his intentions were there but he needed training and experience.
With their combined efforts, the building they were in would be evacuated in minutes, empty of civilians who were now running away for their lives. Despite their best efforts, the chaos went on despite their best efforts to save people from this green Abomination.
"We need to stop this monster ourselves, I know he might seem strong but with your bikes and my strength, we might be able to knock it out" Spider-man turned to face the two other teens, his brain formulating a plan as he looked over at the beast "I don't know if it's referring to doctor Bruce Banner but it's obviously trying to draw him out"
Carrie looked at Spider-man and at the creature "I don't know if your metahuman abilities are enough to defeat it, do you know of anyone who could help us?" She didn't know who to contact at this time, she didn't know where Bruce was and Dick was all the way at Bludhaven.
Spider-man moved away, grabbing his phone from a pocket inside his suit, he was calling someone. His attention quickly shifted towards a helicopter in the air, he expected the military to show up but so quickly? There was something going on behind the scenes.
There were military vehicles actively fighting the beast, Peter Parker couldn't believe his eyes as he saw the military shooting at the abomination despite civilian presence, he had to do something and when he saw his friends didn't pick up he said "Firestar, get Iceman to Harlem" and he ended his voice message.
The abomination was just about to smash a taxi into the military men before he swung and kicked the abomination straight in the jaw, he couldn't lie but it hurt like hell, the creature however had stumbled enough for the men to escape and the creature to drop the taxi down.
"You are… NOT BANNER" he would hit Spider-man into a building growling and pointing to the helicopter as he lifted up the now empty plane "I WANT A REAL FIGHT!" he yelled as he threw the taxi, the helicopter narrowly dodged it.
Peter groaned in pain, he didn't know if he had a broken rib but his body hurt like a bitch, and what was worse was that he had seen a man jumping out from the helicopter. He had to catch him but he felt it impossible to move a limb, the man was just about to hit the ground and he couldn't even get up.
Peter laid on the rubble of the building he had crashed into, he felt as if he had just failed his uncle by not saving that man. He had to get up and save more people. He couldn't give up, he knew some people would be doomed if he didn't try to save them.
His legs were shaking as he tried to stand up, his breathing heavy and a scream coming from him as he forced his body to move. The worst part of his pain was feeling his ribs healing back up, he had never experienced a pain like his bones moving back into place.
As he was stepping towards a broken car to tear it open to free whoever was inside, his eyes couldn't believe it, a green fist came from the ground where the man he thought dead used to lay at, another green giant coming out from the ground however this one looked more like a man.
A roar came from the Hulk as it started walking towards the other giant, people running away in terror as Peter did his best to make sure the people inside left, the two giants leaping towards each other as Hulk was hit like a truck by the abomination. The abomination launched Hulk towards an oil tanker, the truck exploding as the Hulk would stumble trying to regain his footing.
Peter wasn't sure that the Hulk was too evil, from what he could tell it was even trying to stop the other monster so he decided to help him, using whatever he could scramble he started to web the abomination's feet up.
The abomination let out a growl as it broke the web with a step pulling on the web, Peter felt his spider-sense warning him as he was yanked by it towards the beast, a chuckle and a growl coming out of its throat as it would grab Peter by the neck "I could kill you easily right now, but that would be a waste of time" it threw Peter again, not bothering as it walked towards Hulk.
Just as he was about to smash again onto the floor, he was caught by Jason "Hey Kid, don't die on us just yet okay?" he put it off as a joke as he would break and put Peter down on his feet.
"I don't think we can do anything about them, Spider-man" Carrie turned towards the monsters who were locked in battle, Hulk using a police car as gloves to smash them onto the abomination.
"Do you have any projectiles? We might be able to distract it and help out the Hulk if my friends arrive" Peter spoke out as he stretched, feeling excruciating pain. His head turning towards a car flipped upside down, turning it around with relative ease as he tore the door open.
"I have my batarangs, firecrackers, a couple plastic explosives, a grappling gun and the bike has tasers" Carrie put her hand on her chin as she slowly thought about what she had brought to the fight, thinking slowly.
"My bike has rubber bullets, I have a taser, plastic explosives, explosive gel, smoke grenades, pocket explosives and some batarangs" Jason said, grabbing a few round explosives from his jacket's pockets "Oh and I also carry some pistols with rubber bullets"
"I'm still surprised the Bat lets you carry those" Carrie shook her head as she grabbed her firecrackers from her utility belt, alongside her slingshot "I have an idea Spider, we drive around the two beasts, you attempt to wb up the uglier one while we distract it and wait for your friends" Carrie didn't even wait for confirmation as she went ahead towards both beasts, turning on one of her firecrackers as she put it on her slingshot.
"Hey ugly!" Jason smiled as he used his bike to ram against the abomination's face, putting one of his round explosives on its back as Carrie took the opening Jason made to shoot a firecracker towards it, giving the Hulk a needed break.
Spider-man saw his chance and dove right under the beast, webbing up its head as he pulled on his webbing with all of his strength, making it fall to the ground as the explosives went off, making it bounce back which to his surprise Hulk took the opportunity to hit the creature.
"Spider and birds helping me?" He looked equally happy and shocked as a grin formed on his face "HULK TAKE DOWN MONSTER WITH NEW FRIENDS" he rocked on his spot with excitement before grabbing the abomination and throwing him towards a building.
The military helicopter did a sharp turn as it started to open fire against the abomination, it didn't do much against the creature but it kept it distracted as it started to make a run towards a more favorable position, the other heroes making a run towards the creature as it turned its attention towards the helicopter.
Hulk screamed in anger as he jumped towards the abomination, one creature leaping towards the helicopter while the other tried to stop it. Hulk would repeatedly hit the abomination on the chest as he held it, the other creature trying to bring down the helicopter by using the combined weight of the two.
Something surprising happened however as Batman leapt out of the helicopter and used a Batarang to make the abomination let go off the helicopter, but it was too late, the helicopter was falling down towards a broken down building. Batman leaping away from both creatures as he landed on the same rooftop as the Robins and Spider-man "How did you two get here so fast" he said unamused as he then turned to look at Spider-man, narrowing his eyes "What is he doing here"
"Sir, we were investigating some disappearances that we saw on the news, our leads lead us to believe that Roxxon was involved which tied into Spider-man and his scuffle with them last night" Carrie said, trying to mask out her lies as she turned to look at the beast "We followed the police and fire trucks to this location"
"Spider-man, come with me. Robin and Red Robin, you two save the rest of the civilians" Batman said as he used his cape to glide towards Hulk and Abomination who were now fighting near the helicopter and it looked like Abomination was about to win.
Spider-man swung towards the abomination, using his suit's webs to glide towards the creature hitting it square in the jaw. Batman took the opening and put some explosive gel along the creature's chest, causing it to recoil back in pain as it let go of it's weapon.
Hulk grinned and took the opportunity to knock the creature out "Hulk will remember Bat and Spider, but Hulk will leave now. Bat said to cure Hulk but HULK DOESN'T WANNA GO" and before either of the two could do anything, Hulk had leapt out of the city.
"Is there something I should know?" Spider-man turned towards Batman with a raised eyebrow under his mask, his hands on his hips as parts of his suit were torn up by his fight with the beast.
"This is not your business, Spider-man. Ross, make sure to take Blonsky into the raf as fast as possible" Batman walked towards the Robins as he clicked a button in his gloves, the batmobile driving soon after as he used it to clear out the fires just as the Robins had done before.
Spider-man sighed as he started to walk towards a theater on fire, but to his surprise, he saw the fires get put out with ice and Firestar diving into another building, at least the people of Harlem would be safe tonight.
