As Adrien holds out the umbrella, the lighting flashes and I see Cat Noir. "No!" I sat it up in bed, breathing hard. Just a dream, but it felt so real. I turn to look at Cat, who's sleeping beside me.
I tell Cat everything (other then the secret identity) but I feel like I have to keep this hidden. He looks so peaceful, younger when asleep.
I carefully get out of bed, but my movement wakes him. He opens one green eye. "Morning, Princess. How'd you sleep?" he asks. "Fine! Just fine!" My voice is to bright and perky. Way to go, Marinette.
I stare into the closet, but instead of clothes I see Adrien smiling at me. Cat puts his hand on my shoulder, warm and comforting. "Are you okay?" he asks. "Will you help me pick out an outfit for school?" I ask.
Normally, I could easily do myself, but everything is spinning and going to fast. Cat gives me a strange look. "Sure. Though that's not like you, sweetie." He kisses my cheek and inspects my closet.
I sigh. He's right, of course. A girl who wants to be fashion designer should be able to pick out a simple outfit. "Will these do?" he asks, holding up a cranberry colored shirt. Gray slacks and black pumps to match. "Thanks, Kitty. I won't be long in the shower," I say.
Cat looks down at me, in my bunny shirt and slippers. "Better then going in your pjs," he grins at me. The world slows down slightly.
Out in the hallway, Cat starts to head downstairs. I gnaw on my lip. "Kitty?" I ask. He turns to look at me. "Would you...can you sit in front of the bathroom door until I'm done?" Its a odd request, I know.
But this morning, I want him to protect me. Besides, I won't change to Ladybug unless there's a akuma.
Cat strides over to, and my heart starts to thump, but not with fear. He's so handsome my partner, his green eyes and soft voice so alluring. Cat checks my forehead. "Mari. Are you sure your okay?" His voice is not playful. Its serious and grown-up. "Just a little jumpy this morning," I admit.
Cat takes my hand, and I hope he doesn't notice how cold they are. "Your wish is granted," he says. "I'll be quick, then I'll make french toast," I say, kissing his cheek. I can feel Cat's eyes even with the bathroom door shut.
The hot water calms me, the sweet smell of shampoo is a added bonus. Another thing, did I see Hawkmoth in the dream? It...looked like him, but he looked kinda like Cat. I shudder, what kind of nightmare was that?
I dress quickly and blow dry my hair. Instead of two pigtails like I usually do, I opt for a ponytail. Cat's reading messages (I think) on his stick, but who would do that? I'm the only one who would do that.
"You ready for breakfast, Cat?" I ask. Cat jumps. Why are we both so jumpy? Is something going to happen?
We eat breakfast quickly, then go out the door for school. Cat holds my hand more tightly then he usual does. When we get to school, Cat takes both of hands, still holding them tightly. "Stick close to Adrien today, Okay?" Cat's not messing around when he talks like this. "Yes, Cat. I promise." He kisses me on lips and we part ways.
I walk into school, my mind churning. Stick close to Adrien? What does that mean? Still, I promised….
"Good morning, Marinette." Adrien sits at his desk, his workbook opened in front of him. "Hey."
I set down my bag. "Getting some last minute studying done?" I ask. "Something like that." I know what he means. Cat and I got our homework done late last night, and then we were up even later talking…
the room fills up pretty quickly and I take a seat in my usual spot next to Alya. Once class starts Adrien raises his hand. "Miss Bustier?" "Yes, Adrien?" "Could Marinette sit by me today?" Did Cat talk to Adrien before I showed up to class? My dream comes flooding back and see Cat sitting where Adrien is...
