Elysium's Heroes
Chapter 6. The Laws of Nature
Sunlight was shining through the window. It was already morning. Rex rushed out of his room to knock on Pyra and Mythra's door. "Girls are you awake?" No response came out of their room. "I'm coming in, okay?" Rex opened the door and saw Pyra and Mythra still in their bed. They weren't asleep but were still trying to get some anyway, As Mythra grabbed her sheets and turned to the other side of the bed.
"Did we all have the same dream?" Pyra asked who started to get up. "Yes, and I didn't get any sleep because of it. Now can we please shut up and sleep?" Mythra said rather annoyed. "I don't think we have time for that Mythra." Pyra said to motivate her sister out of bed. "Ugh... fine… at least let me get some coffee then." The trio got downstairs and noticed Nia, Dromarch, Tora and Poppi were already downstairs. Enjoying their breakfast. "Oh my… did we oversleep?" Pyra said who started to feel guilty because she wasn't on time to make everyone breakfast. "Yes, Rex Rex and friends were very sleepy, so we made breakfast ourselves."
"Mythra… you look… great… sleeping beauty." Nia teased Mythra because her hair was all messy and she was still in her pyjamas with an awfully tired look on her face. "Thanks…" Mythra said who had no energy to defend herself against the insult. "Give her a break Nia! We all had a very rough night, okay?" "Oh, I see… you guys got busy last night huh?" "That's not what I meant Nia…! we all had the same dream. We were able to speak with Addam." "What!? Rex Rex was able to speak with hero of legend? Tora so jealous." "Well, what did he say?" Nia said with curiosity. "It's kind of a mouthful… the important thing is that Pyra, Mythra and I are able to change the fate of the world. "Okay now I really want to know the details." "Ugh fine..." As Rex told the rest of the gang everything Pyra and Mythra got themselves in new clothes in their rooms and Mythra had her morning coffee.
"And that is when I woke up" "Sheesh that is quite something to take in…" Nia said. "What are you going to do master Rex?" Dromarch asked curiously. "We don't know yet. We have to think about this before we do anything." "Hey Rex, maybe we should ask advice from Azurda. Maybe he will know what to do." Mythra suggested. "That is a good idea Mythra. Let's go to him."
As Rex got in his work clothes the trio made their way to Azurda, who was just resting at the side of Fonsett village. "Gramps? Do you have a moment to talk?" "Of course, Rex, You know I always like to lend you a listening ear." Rex explained their conversation with Addam in full detail to Azurda.
Azurda: "Hmmm… It seems you certainly have trapped yourself in this dilemma."
Rex: "We hoped you had some advice to help us make this decision. What about you? Do you have any wishes you would want to be reality? you're a Titan after all."
Azurda: "You know, at the beginning of our adventure I may would have wanted to change my fate, but after everything we have gone through on our journey, I have come to the realization that I am quite happy with my future."
Pyra: "I guess we won't have to change the fate of the Titan's than."
Rex: "Gramps, please help us with this. To change the fate of the entire world without knowing if it will be the right decision is such a scary choice to make.
Azurda: "Have you perhaps considered that maybe you shouldn't make any changes at all? Maybe this is how the world is supposed to be? No offence of course."
Pyra: "Non taken."
Mythra: "So it will be an act of selfishness if we were to change the world?"
Rex: "Not an option. I will not let you girls suffer your fate for all eternity! There has to be something we can do."
Mythra: "Maybe we should ask the others? Maybe Dromarch, Pandoria and Brighid will also have something to say about this."
Rex: "Then we should hurry, after all it won't be easy to get a conversation going with Morag now that Mor Ardain has their new objectives with Elysium."
Pyra: "Yes let's hurry."
After lunch the trio decided to tell the rest of the party of their plans. "We are going to Mor Ardain." "Ugh… all that sand again… Why do we need to go there?" Nia asked. "To ask Morag and Brighid if they want to change anything." "Fine… as long as we don't have to get through those stupid rock formations again." The gang hopped on Azurda to give them a ride to Mor Ardain. As the gang was floating though the sea, Rex, Pyra and Mythra took the time to ask the others of their opinion. "Nia, Dromarch, do you have anything you would like to change about the ways blades die?" Rex asked to make sure that everyone is on the same page.
"Miss Pyra, you changed my mind about this the moment you said that memories can be a great curse. I cannot Imagine a world without my lady. So, I wouldn't want to change my fate." "Thanks, Dromarch, we value your input greatly." Pyra said. "And you? Nia?" Nia was quiet for a moment. "I… I don't know… I didn't really value life that much before you awakened my blade form within me Rex. I don't know if I would change my fate. I guess I'm happy that I will be able to die at some point and I wouldn't have to live through everything until the end of time. Though I am sad that I won't have Dromarch with me when I enter the afterlife in Elysium." "Thanks for your input, Nia, we value it greatly." "Thanks Rex."
Rex walked to the old bed he still had when he lived on Azurda and took a seat. "Is everything okay Rex?" Pyra and Mythra walked in. "I have been thinking… The only reason blades don't want to be immortal is because they want to be with their driver when they die. At least if you would have a good bond with them." "We have noticed that as well. It is pretty much the same reason why we want to die with you Rex." "Yes, so I have been thinking, maybe we can change the fate of blades, so they are able to go to Elysium with their Driver once they return to their core crystal." "There is only one problem with that though, Blades need to be able to keep transferring data to the world. That is the reason Father created us this way." Mythra stated.
"Damn… Then we are back to square one…" "Everyone we are here!" Azurda's voice could be heard from outside and it seemed they have arrived in Mor Ardain.
"Can I help you?" The Mor Ardainian soldier at the front desk asked.
"Uhm yeah hello, we would like an appointment with the Special Inquisitor and her Blade Brighid. If that is possible?"
"I'm sorry the Special Inquisitor is very busy and has no time to talk to mere foot folk."
"I believe I will be the judge of that thank you very much." Morag said who walked up to the gang with Brighid."
"Hello Morag, we would like to ask a very important question of you and Brighid."
"Which is?"
"Uhm… It may be kind of personal."
"We can talk privately in my quarters, though we don't have much time, I still have a lot of work to do."
"Don't worry it will only take a second." Rex said while they all walked to Morag's quarters.
"So, what is it?" Brighid asked.
"We don't have time to explain the full story, But Pneuma I are able to change the fate of how Humans and Blades will coexist in the future this means we are able to change the fate of blades after they return to their core crystal. Make it so that you would be able to die with you Driver. So, our question is would you like that?"
Brighid: "that's a tough question… on one hand the ability to live for this long has made it so I was able to meet Morag, and more importantly made it so I was able to help you beat Malos, but… keep living forever like this. With no memories of my former life as blade. I do not wish to live forever like this."
Mythra: "Would you prefer to be able to go to Elysium after you die? Like humans do?"
Brighid: "I would be able to see lady Morag again, and maybe even my older Drivers. Though My abilities won't be able to be used again after my death. And for all I know my abilities will be most needed even more in the future…"
Pyra: "So what fate would you prefer?"
Brighid: "It almost feels selfish to die don't you think? Just because I want to meet my Drivers again."
Rex: "But you are deserving of a happy afterlife."
Pyra: "Rex…"
Rex: "You Blades are amazing! Being able use so much power. Without you, we wouldn't have been able to beat Malos."
Brighid: "But don't you think that is even more reason to stay alive? To keep helping the people in need?"
Rex: "Maybe, but I think you need a reward, A reward that every blade will be able to experience no matter how hard their lives were no matter how hard their struggles would be."
Mythra: "Rex…"
Rex: "A happy afterlife would be the perfect reward, wouldn't it? You would be able to look forward to it, but you would also be able to fulfil your roll you have in this world, with the time you are able live your life."
Brighid: "I suppose you are right. Okay you have convinced me."
Rex: "Nice! Then we are a step closer to our answer guys. Morag?"
Morag: "I don't think I should have any say in the matter. If you have the power to change the fate of blades. Then only their input is of matter."
Rex: "I guess… but we value it anyway, so thanks Brighid."
Brighid: "You're welcome."
Pyra: "Rex I truly appreciate that you go this far for us. No one else in the world would bother with such a task but you take it on without question!"
Rex: "No one else in the world would be able to take on this task Pyra, we are the only ones in the world with this power so I intent to use it to change the world for the better!"
Mythra: "Rex…"
Rex: "Okay then I guess we are done here. let's go to Tantal!"
