The sun was starting to peak through the curtains in Amber's room. The light causing her to wake up. Her head was pounding and she smelt horrible scrunching up her nose at the smell. Amber grabbed her phone off the table and saw it said 10am.

Amber laid her phone back down on the nightstand, standing up and stripping of her clothes. She headed into her bathroom and turned on the shower. The mirror in her bathroom soon becoming covered by the steam rolling out from her shower.

Once her shower was over she turned the handle and grabbed her towel wrapping it around her body. She made her way into her room to pick out some clothes, but there was a knock on her bedroom door.

She was a little scared not realizing anyone was in her house besides her but then Will's familiar voice came through the wood door.

"Amber you up?"

Amber smiled. "It's open Will."

Will opened the door and stepped into amber's room coffee and Tylenol in hand. Amber smiled at her caring best friend. "Thank you Will."

"Always." Will walked into Amber's room and sat the mug and bottle down on her nightstand while Amber stepped into her closet to put some clothes on.

When she emerged from her closet Will and Jay were both in her room. These two always took care of her and made sure she was okay no matter what. "You guys didn't have to stay."

"Yes we did." The bothers said in unison.

Amber rolled her eyes and walked over to her bed and sat down leaning against her headboard. She picked up the items Will had sat on her nightstand table taking a couple of the Tylenol before speaking. "How bad was I last night?"

Will sat down next to Amber, while Jay laid across the foot of the bed. "You were fine. Till Kelly started talking to you."

Amber groaned, she knew seeing Kelly last night was going to end badly.

"Amber we know you don't like talking about it but what happened between Kelly and You?"

Amber looked down to Jay at the end of her bed and took a deep breath. "I… I guess I should tell you guys. I knew this day would happen eventually." Amber paused trying to decide where to start. "7 years ago I joined the fire academy…

Amber walked into her first class at the fire academy, everyone stared at her as she walked in. The CFD was very much a boys club, there were only a handful of female firefighters.

"Uh sweetheart the EMT class is down the hall." The other men in the room begin to chuckle. Amber looked to the blue eyed man who had spoken to her. He was handsome and took her breath away but she wasn't going to show that to him. He had this big smirk on his face.

"Oh you must be in the wrong class then because the preschoolers meet downstairs." Amber smirked before taking her seats as some of the class laughed and pointed at the man.

Amber was sitting behind a man with blonde hair, the blue eyes one sat next to her and there was a man with brown hair that sat in front of him. Amber gathered they knew each other because they did the bro hug thing guys do.

Their instructor entered the classroom and everyone fell quiet. The first day consisted of introductions and why you wanted to become a firefighter. She had learned the man sitting next to her was Kelly Severide, the blonde was Matthew Casey, and the brown haired male was Andy Darden.

Amber was walking out of the fire academy as her first day had ended.

"Rose!"

Amber stopped walking and turned around to see none other than Kelly Severide walking her way. "What is it Severide? Here to make more female firefighter comments?" Amber folded her arms over her chest. He had been making little jokes all day at her.

"I'm sorry about that but I was wondering if you wanted to come over and have a few beers with Casey, Darden and I?" There was something different about Severide. It's like he was a total different person once he exited the fire academy.

"You going to poke fun at me if I say yes?"

"No I promise. I honestly think it's cool that you want to be a firefighter." Something in the way he was acting warmed her heart. Maybe he wasn't such a bad guy?

Amber grabs a pen out of her backpack and grabbed Kelly's hand. She wrote down her phone number. "Text me and maybe I'll show up." Amber put the pen back into her bag and winked at Kelly.

Amber walked over to her CBR1000 motorcycle and hoped on and headed towards home.

Casey and Darden were watching the exchange from just inside the doors of the fire academy. Once Amber had left they then went outside and stood next to Severide.

Kelly hadn't stopped staring at the space where she had gotten on her bike and left. "I'm going to Marry that girl."

Both Casey and Darden let out a little chuckle. Casey clapped Severide on the shoulder "Come on lover boy let's go home."

The three of them got into Kelly's car and headed for their apartment, Kelly completely lost in thought about Amber. Once they got home Kelly did text Amber the address to the apartment.

Amber heard her phone buzz on her kitchen counter. She quickly grabbed it hoping it was Kelly. She wasn't disappointed when she saw the message. She quickly shot him a text back saying she would stop by.

Amber sat her phone back down on the counter while she went to go get ready to see Kelly. A smile on her face the whole time.
