The Oreburgh Rock

One day, the Oreburgh City Gym Leader Roark invited me to the Oreburgh Mine for a friendly rematch. My friend Dawn tagged along. She wore a red cheerleading outfit to root for me.

He called out a Tyranitar. Its Sand Stream Ability activated and whipped up a raging sandstorm. I called out my Infernape. Infernape easily outmaneuvered Tyranitar and knocked it out with only one Close Combat attack. Infernape was buffeted by the sandstorm.

He sent out an Aerodactyl. I recalled Infernape and sent out my Luxray. Aerodactyl easily outsped Luxray and hit it with an Earthquake move, which did a lot of damage. Luxray struck back with a Wild Charge move and knocked out Aerodactyl. The recoil from the move then knocked out Luxray.

He called out an Armaldo, and I called Infernape back out. Infernape hit Armaldo with a Rock Slide attack, which did a fair amount of damage.

Armaldo struck back with an Earthquake, which also did quite a bit of damage. Infernape was buffeted by the sandstorm again. Infernape hit Armaldo with another Rock Slide and knocked it out.

He sent out a Probopass. Infernape was buffeted by the sandstorm once more. Infernape outmaneuvered Probopass easily and knocked it out with one Close Combat move. Infernape was buffeted by the sandstorm one more time.

He called out a Relicanth. I recalled Infernape and called out my Roserade. Roserade outsped Relicanth easily and knocked it out with one Energy Ball attack. Roserade was buffeted by the sandstorm.

He sent out a Rampardos. Roserade was buffeted by the sandstorm again. Roserade easily outmaneuvered Rampardos and knocked it out with a single Energy Ball. Roserade was buffeted by the sandstorm once more.

"We lost control there. You were strong, and I was weak," he said.

"I'd like to challenge you to a Fossil-digging race underground," he said after we healed our parties at the Pokémon Center. I accepted, but she declined because of a lack of interest in Fossils.

We both dug up two Fossils, an Armor Fossil and a Skull Fossil, over the course of about ten minutes. Afterwards, we returned to the surface. We visited the Oreburgh Mining Museum. I had my Skull Fossil resurrected into a Cranidos and my Armor Fossil revived into a Shieldon.

The following day, he helped me train with my new Fossil Pokémon. Cranidos evolved into Rampardos. Shieldon evolved into Bastiodon.

He invited me back to Oreburgh Mine for another friendly rematch. This time, I could only use Rock types. I accepted. Dawn tagged along and cheered for me again. Using only Bastiodon and Rampardos, I beat his entire team.

"I lost again, but that's tough. That's all there is," he said.
