Dr. Rhodes was on his way back up to Kelly Severides room completely exhausted after spending 5 hours in the OR. The internal damage Amber suffered was more sever than they originally thought.

Dr. Rhodes knocked on Kelly's door and than entered his room. Kelly was awake and watching TV, Casey and Dawson were both still there not wanting to leave their best friend alone.

Kelly immediately turned off the TV when he saw Dr. Rhodes enter his room. Kelly could tell how tired and exhausted he looked and it concerned Kelly. "Is Amber okay?"

Dr. Rhodes stood in front of Kelly's bed. "It was touch and go. I lost her twice on the table. She lost a lot of blood and damage to both kidneys and her liver."

"But she made it?" Casey asked the question knowing Kelly couldn't get the words out of his mouth.

Dr. Rhodes sighed. "She is currently in a Coma in the ICU. One of the times I lost her she was down for over 5 minutes and the lack of blood flow to her brain sent her into a coma." Dr. Rhodes was disappointed. This was not the news he was hoping to deliver to Kelly.

Kelly felt his heart drop to his stomach."Is she going to wake up?" Kelly's voice was very shaky as he tried to contain his emotions.

Dr. Rhodes looked down closing his eyes. "I don't know." The words came out of Dr. Rhodes mouth in almost a whisper. Amber and him were colleagues and were somewhat close.

Kelly started to cry again it felt like he had lost her all over again. Dawson sat down next to Kelly again and held him trying to get him to calm down.

Dr. Rhodes was evening shedding a couple tears. "I wish I had better news for you."

Everyone in the room was silent for a moment the only noise was Kelly's soft cry's.

"Can we see her?" Matt was wiping away a tear.

"Yes. Let me grab Kelly a wheelchair and we can all head up together." Dr. Rhodes left the room to go grab a wheelchair for Kelly.

"I thought I pushed her out of the way in time. Maybe if I would of just grabbed her..."

"Kelly don't do that. That explosion was intense. Don't burden yourself with what if's." Casey was doing his best to try and hold it together and comfort his best friend.

"Casey is right Kelly. We can sit here and go what if this what if that all day long but it does no good. Things happened this way for a reason. There is still a chance she will wake up and you two can have a life together."

Kelly nodded his head. He understood what Dawson was saying but it still didn't make things any easier. There was a knock at Kelly's hospital door and in walked Connor with a wheelchair.

"You ready?" Kelly nodded his head. Dr. Rhodes brought the wheelchair closer to Kelly's bed. Dawson moved so Casey and Dr. Rhodes could help Kelly into it. Once Kelly was situated they headed up to the ICU.

They arrived at Amber's room a few minutes later. Dr. Rhodes pushed Kelly into the room where Kelly's eyes immediately landed on Amber's body, she was sitting up a bit with a tube down her throat that was helping her breath.

Dr. Rhodes pushed Kelly right up to her bedside so he could hold her hand. "Oh Amber." Kelly squeezed her hand but when he didn't feel her squeeze back it broke his heart even more.

Dr. Rhodes, Casey, and Dawson slipped out of the room to give Kelly some privacy. They all stood just outside her door watching Kelly hold her hand and talk to her.

"Amber… Baby please open your eyes…. Please come back to me. I need you." But there was no response her body still laid there motionless and quiet. The only noise in the room you could hear was her heart monitor beeping.

Outside the room Dawson turned into Casey and started crying. Casey wrapped his arms tightly around her and held her as a few tears slipped down his face.

Will Halstead quietly approached the group. "Is… is she okay?" Will's voice was very shaky.

Dawson pulled away from Casey and glared right at Will. "Why do you care? You were so willing to write Severide off when clearly he could of been saved!"

"Gabby." Casey reached for her arm but she quickly jerked it away from him.

"No Matt!" Gabby walked closer to Will. "You didn't even properly look at Severide. You took one look and black tagged him! Amber pushed aside any pain she was in to save him! To save the man she loves! This is on you! If you would of tried to save Kelly maybe Amber would of gotten help sooner and wouldn't be in a coma!" Everyone on the ICU floor could hear Dawson tearing into Will.

Will stood there taking the ass chewing Dawson was giving him. Deep down he knew she was right and wasn't going to stop her from yelling at him.

Dawson's yelling caught Kelly's attention causing him to wheel himself out of Amber's room to see what was going on. He saw Gabby getting in Will's face and yelling at him.

"Now my best friend gets to maybe watch another person he truly loves possibly slip away! Severide already lost Shay and now because of your actions he may lose Amber!"

Dawson finally stopped yelling so Will could speak. "I just lost my brother and now I am about to lose someone I considered my best friend. I screwed up! I know that but I can't change anything that happened it's in the past. All I can do now is be there for her if she will let me."

Severide felt something pushing him to say "Will, do you want to come see her?"

Dawson turned around to see Kelly had come out of Amber's room. "Kelly…"

"Dawson it's fine. We all have made decisions that we wish we could change. There are plenty of times in a fire that we may have to choose to rescue someone who may have a better chance of making it than the person next to them." Dawson looked down at the ground because Kelly was right, there were times they had to choose who to save based off their chances of living.

"Are you sure?" Will was scared. After everything that had happened he never expected the man he was going to leave for dead would be inviting him into Amber's room.

"Yes come on. I know Amber may of forgiven you after she had a couple days too cool down." Kelly said and then rolled a little backwards to allow Will to enter Amber's room. Kelly, Dawson, Casey, and Dr. Rhodes followed him into Amber's room.

All of them hoping she would pull through and wake up. But no one knew it or when that was going to be. It was a wait and see situation.
