This chapter is just a filler chapter to piece a few more things together. I hope you enjoy!
It's been a week since finding Hallie, and Jay can't get the image of the little girl out of his head. Her bright blue eyes and cute button nose, with her curly dirty blonde hair. He thinks to himself that her parents must have good genes to create such a gorgeous child.
After a long week of work he decides he needs to go to the grocery store to get supplies for Antonio's welcome home party, after he was living in Puerto Rico with his sister for a couple years, her returning as well. Even though he had been back for a few weeks everything had just been so busy that the party was only happening now.
As he pulled up to target he grabbed his wallet and keys, heading for the carts. Once inside he went straight to the fruit section, as he was picking his selection of bananas he noticed a voice.
"Momma, Momma, can we get some stwarbewys pwease!"
He turned around and saw her. The little girl from the other week. Interested to see how she was doing after the whole event, he decided to start walking towards the voice. The little girl slowly following her mom admiring her strawberries as they turned the corner down a different aisle.
As he turned he almost ran into the kid, as she had stopped and was staring at her red berries in her hands, completely taken over by the sight of them. Jay stopped suddenly and started to giggle. "Why hello there little Hallie."
The little girl jumped as she was brought back to the real world turning her head at the sudden male voice. "Hi, I wewemba you"
Jay giggles at her pronunciation. "Yeah I remember you too."
As he talks to her about her strawberries he hears voice he's heard before but can't pick who it is.
"Hallie! Hallie baby where are you!"
Hallies spins around and starts running towards the voice.
"I'm over here momma."
As she turns the corner so does the child's mother.
Not seeing her face Jay says "sorry I'm just talking to her, I'm the policeman that found her..." He trails off as she lifts her head.
They stand there staring at each other, Hallie in her mothers arms just sitting there once again looking at her strawberries.
"Jay...I" she speaks first
"Erin. You're Hallies Mom? But first of all you're back in Chicago? Since when?"
"Ahh yeah Hallies mine. We came back the day she went missing. I was going to call you but I just thought I'd see you at work soon enough so..."
"Wait wait, you're coming back to intelligence? I can't believe you, who says you have the right to turn up after 4 years and parade your way back in intelligence back into my life, nope I not going to let that happen."
"I'm sorry, I know I should have called but I tried..."
"I don't want to hear it, if Hallie is 3 it means you've slept with someone else so who's the father and where is he?"
"She's 4 in February"
"So she's mine?"
"Yeah"
"How? How could you keep something like this away from me! Does she even know who I am?!"
"Can you please stop yelling you're making a scene."
"I'm making a scene am I?"
"Hallie who is this man right here?" Erin asks her daughter.
"That's Jay Momma, he's my daddy"
Jay steps back stunned at what he just heard. Hallie now also watching her fathers movements. Jay can feel his eyes burning and tears forming, he turns around and runs out of the store leaving his cart and food behind. Erin and Hallie stand and watch it all play out.
"Momma where is Daddy going?"
"I don't know sweetheart"
"Will I get to see him again?"
"I hope so baby, I hope so" Erin says as she kisses Hallie on the head, as she snuggles into Erin's chest.
Erin thinks to herself as she goes to checkout, "I hope you get to know him, I really hope."
Jay runs up to his apartment slamming the door shut, grabbing a beer from his fridge and drinking the night away. Will comes home finding him off his head crying while watching tv.
"Jay? What's going on? How much have you had to drink?"
Jay looks up at his older brother, "Erin is home, and she has kid, turns out it's mine."
Will sighs saying shit to himself grabbing a beer and sitting down next to his brother. Here we go again he thinks, here comes the drunk depressive thoughts and days/nights.
I know this is kinda short, but I hoped you enjoyed, Jay finally seeing Erin, and finding out who's Hallies parents are. :)
