Weiss let her head fall, cheek touching the cold marble floor as she looked up at the voice's owner.
Dressed in all black, the person – a man – wore a sleeveless vest revealing well-toned arms and shoulders. Black fingerless gloves, dark pants and tall black boots. Further up, her eyes caught the golden amulet hanging on his neck, a red gem embedded in it. She then let her eyes explore the person's face. Swept-backed hair that shared the same shade of white that like every Schnee and pale blue eyes that stared – no, looked - down at her.
"Get up."
With a grunt, she forced herself back up to reach for her discarded weapon. Weiss calmed her breathing as she went to standard fencing stance and raised her rapier to her opponent. There was a flash of approval in those pale blue eyes that stared at her. But it vanished as quickly as it came and the cold look was back.
"Again."
Weiss charged towards him. Several glyphs appeared beneath her, increasing her speed as she thrust Myrtenaster forward. Her opponent dashed to the side and left an after image, her thrust hitting nothing but air. She twisted and kicked on a glyph to perform the same move a few more times. Her opponent evaded all of it and parried the last one; the force behind it almost knocked her out of balance.
She twirled to regain balance, arms outstretched, and swept her rapier up in front of her. This caused several smaller glyphs to appear before her. Swinging her rapier down caused the glyphs to shoot forward rapidly. Her opponent blocked all of them with his sheathed blade - which irked her greatly.
She raised her rapier to attack again only to pause as she heard a sound – a distinct sound similar to that of glass shattering. Weiss flipped backwards as she evaded the rain of swords that would've pinned her had she not dodged back. She evaded another rain yet again by dashing her opponent. This time, however, her opponent attacked and Weiss was forced to block the strike. She allowed the force to carry her, twirling as she thrust her rapier in riposte. Her opponent leaned back to evade the thrust and the follow-ups that came after.
They repeated this routine as they engaged in battle. Weiss would slash, slice or thrust Myrtenaster at her opponent at speed. The man would dodge back, perform an attack of his own, or bombard her with more summoned swords. Throughout their entire fight, the man had never drawn his blade.
She summoned a glyph to disengage just in time to evade what would have been a devastating hit. Weiss brought her weapon upfront, the chamber stopping on the red vial, causing red dust to coat Myrtenaster. She summoned yet another glyph behind that was much larger than the previous glyphs as it grew in size.
It wasn't an easy affair going up against her opponent; even trying to get him to fight her. The man in front of her isn't just any strong opponent. He was smart, cold, and ruthless. Not even the armored knight would have a chance against him. It would be torn and ripped into shreds within a matter of seconds. This is why she would throw everything against him just to land a single hit.
Once her glyph stopped, Weiss became a blur as she shot towards her opponent. Her opponent was a bit surprised, evident from the slight widening of his eyes. But that didn't stop him from reacting instantly to parry her.
There!
Their weapons struck at the same time and loud clang resounded throughout the hall. The force was great that both of them recoiled. But, this time it wasn't Weiss that lost her balance. This time it was her opponent that did. Her opponent was caught off guard by the attack and Weiss seized this advantage. She stabbed Myrtenaster to the floor, causing ice to shoot forward in waves closing around her opponent - one of his legs was encapsulated and frozen. A second later, he found himself immobile as several glyphs attached to his limbs.
Weiss let a smirk grace her soft features. Who would've thought that move she used against the armored knight would work on him. Letting the smirk fall of her face, Weiss summoned more glyphs to surround him and one to slow him down. Weiss kicked off a glyph and landed a hit to her opponent. She repeated her action earlier and zig-zagged, landing several more strikes. On her last strike, she let Myrtenaster's chamber stop and pressed the trigger - white runes appeared along the blade – and shot forward.
Ice shattered and a loud scraping noise reverberated as Myrtenaster struck against her opponent's aura, knocking him on his back with a grunt. He swiftly recovered by flipping into a kneeling position.
A smile formed its way on her face as she took in the sight of him kneeling. She did it! After fighting him for what felt like hours, she was finally able to land more than one hit. She let a relieved sigh out as she calmed herself and lifted her chin up. Her opponent stood up from his kneeling position and faced her.
"I did not anticipate that attack of yours." He smiled, "But my aura is nowhere near red."
Steel hissed a moment later and she found herself staring at the end of a blade. It took her a second before she realized where she was. Weiss lay flat again on the floor, although this time staring back at a blade. An alarm sounded later, signaling that her aura had reached the red. What just happened? The blade was removed in front of her and replaced by a hand.
"Get up."
Weiss sighed and grasped his hand. The man helped her up and stared back at her. His eyes were cold once again. Her hands balled up at the sight of it. She never liked it whenever those eyes turn like that. It reminded her all too much of her father whenever he was in a call with one of his associates. Whenever he would be in a shouting match with her mother. It was painful, especially coming from him. He even shares the same look Jacques would give to them - disapproval.
"You know better than to stop in the middle of a fight, sister."
"W-well, you were already down so I thought that I should stop. I wouldn't want to hurt you after all."
The man scoffed, "I doubt it."
"Oh please, it wasn't a serious match. It was only training!" she huffed. "You shouldn't take everything so seriously, why won't you-"
"Weiss."
She stopped speaking, and her mind just halted as she looked at her brother. He stared at her for a few seconds before he shook his head with a sigh.
"Don't repeat the same mistake. Your enemies won't stop when you stop." He said.
"Yes, Vergil."
"Hmm."
Vergil stared at her before he walked to grab his coat. Weiss sighed and went the opposite way, grabbing Myrtenaster as she went, and the two went their separate ways. Before she could reach the end of the training hall, Vergil called out to her.
"I hope you have fun at Beacon."
A small smile made its way into her face.
"I will, Vergil. Goodbye."
Weiss left the training hall and made her way to her room. And that would be the last time she ever talked to her brother Vergil.
Would have been the last time…

"Hey, Weiss!"
Weiss was brought out of musing by a high-pitched voice that she had grown accustomed throughout her time here in Beacon. Weiss and Ruby were currently on their way to the cafeteria; the two other members of team RWBY went out first, as they were both called by Professor Oobleck regarding homework. She glanced at Ruby who was looking at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Are you ok? You spaced out a bit there."
"Oh it's nothing, I was just thinking about homework, that's all."
"Really? Are you sure?"
"Yes, Ruby. I'm sure of it." she sighed.
Ruby looked at her for a moment, lips pressed together, "Nope!"
Weiss looked at her, "What?"
"Nope! You don't space out a lot, Weiss. You ok?
Weiss scoffed at that. She was totally fine. Ok maybe she was a bit stressed, seeing as they just finished the first semester. And with the second semester on it's way as well as the arrival of exchange students for the Vytal Festival. Not only that but she and her team would need to train harder than they did in the first semester.
The Vytal Festival will be coming soon at the end of the year and her team wasn't going to miss it. Hence, why she was a bit stressed from all the work, not to mention the disaster in the docks a few months ago. And of course her last memory of her brother Vergil. Not exactly the best memory she had with him.
Weiss sighed and she rubbed her temple. "Ok, maybe I'm not fine, at all. It's just… I'm just thinking about the last time I saw my brother."
"You had a brother? Really?"
"Yes, really."
"What's he like? Kinda like Yang, except you know, male and white hair."
Like Yang? By the Brothers. No. Never. She couldn't imagine her brother as a male version of Yang. He was too serious to joke, and despite attending several balls orchestrated by their father, Vergil was a quiet man.
He didn't read comics, only books, and he doesn't do clubbing - and clubbing would have irritated him, especially with how people were squeezed against each other. Can she even think of him saying a pun or a dad joke?
"Weiss, a book just fell on my head at the library. I've only got my-shelf to blame."
Weiss almost winced from that thought. Just. No.
"No, Ruby, he isn't like Yang. In fact you can say he's the opposite of Yang. Vergil is calm, cool, and is a very strong-willed person."
"Really? What else?"
Weiss thought for a second, "Well, Vergil likes to read books and poems."
"Does he like pizza?" Ruby said a second later. It made Weiss pause for a bit in their walk.
"Yes, he does." Thin crust and with olives. A fond smile found its way on her face. She remembered that memory she had with him and her other siblings. Weiss was brought out of her musing as she noticed that they've finally reached the cafeteria.
"I'll tell you more about him later. For now, let's eat, the two might get worried if we chat for too long."
"Alright then!"
Ruby went in first and dashed through the cafeteria, picking up a tray and got in line. Weiss sighed but smiled nonetheless, she glanced outside again. Noticing the Atlas airship that now dotted the sky of Vale, some were landing at the docks in Beacon Academy.
With a shake of her head, she went inside the cafeteria. As she entered the cafeteria, she missed one airship land on Beacon, this one in particular was different from the others. It was a small transport aircraft, wings that roughly formed an x-shape, and white banners attached to each wing. On the side of the aircraft, a familiar snowflake logo can be seen.
The Schnee Dust Company logo.

"Sir, we've landed." The pilot voiced out from within the cockpit, his head peeking out to his passenger.
He gave the pilot a side-glance and nodded, his head turning back to the window to look out. Outside, he saw crowds of people – students and professors of the academy heading to their own destinations. So this was Beacon, huh? He never visited the place personally and only heard of it from news and his professors back in Atlas. To say he wasn't impressed would be wrong. Beacon Academy was indeed beautiful as they say. Beacon had tall towers, a wide-open space, and the tall clock tower that stood out – almost touching the blue sky.
However. It isn't as great as Atlas Academy, he thought.
He stood up from his seat and went to the back of the airship. The ramp was already down; his pilot was outside talking to a rotund man, dressed in a burgundy suit. The butlers that he brought along with him were already packing his things.
The man in the suit noticed him, giving the pilot a pat before he went up to him.
"It is quite the pleasure to meet you in person Mr. Schnee!" the jovial man greeted as he moved to shake his hand.
He looked at it and returned the gesture, "And you are?"
"I'm Professor Peter Port, and I'm here to welcome you to Beacon."
"I see. You'll be my guide then."
The man nodded. "Yes, please follow me as I guide you to where you'll be staying. Beacon Academy is quite large and you might get lost on your way." He followed Port as he guided him to his lodging areas – his butlers followed soon after.
Beacon Academy, huh? This might be fun.
Author's Note:
So, there you have it, folks. The initial draft of the first chapter of In The Pursuit Of Power. An idea of mine that came upon me last two years ago, as I reading some Dmc fanfics here.
I mean c'mon. Weiss Schnee and Vergil share two similar traits. Blue eyes and white hair. So, came a sudden idea and an urge to write a fanfic about it. It's a cool idea. The issue is that I've never written a fanfic before and if I think I did they're probably shit. For now, this is all I have to show you. I'm currently working on my finals. So, if you saw my fanfic, please leave a review. Tell me what you think about it and your criticisms.
Bye.
