I was the first one to get to class. To be fair, I had to get here nearly two hours before school began since I wanted to ride to school with my parents instead of walking. Lesson learned. If our seat assignment wasn't so clearly posted, I would have sat in seat thirteen since that is my favorite number, but I was assigned the number nineteen. It was an hour before school started on the dot when the next person walked into the class.
"I thought I would be the first person in class! It is great to see one of my classmates is just as dedicated as me! As expected of a Yueii student!" The blue haired teen exclaimed as he chopped his arms.
"Not really, just caught a ride before my parents went to work. My name is Shiori Keria" I introduced myself.
"That was an efficient decision! I have been rude, my name is Iida Tenya" He held his hand out and I shook it. "I am going to find my seat now" He said and went to check the seating arrangement. I will forever deny the sense of relief I had when he sat his stuff at the other side of the room. It wasn't long till the rest of the early students began trickling in. Tenya introduced himself to everyone and told them where their assigned seat was.
"Good morning. I am Yaoyorozu Momo, I am sitting behind you" the raven haired girl greeted.
"Good morning, I am Shiori Keira. Ready for class?" I asked as she sat down.
"Yes I am. I have studied what I could find to help prepare myself" She answered. Our conversation was cut short by a commotion that began. Iida was arguing with the spiky blonde two-seats ahead of me, drawing the attention of almost the entire class. Then a curly green-haired kid walked in and Iida turned his attention to him. Between Iida and the brunette girl who walked in, I thought the poor kid was gonna explode from embarrassment. The kids standing in front of the door turned around and stared at the hallway floor.
"...Department of Heroics!" A very familiar voice said. A yellow mass stood up and entered the room. It waited for the class to quiet down before exiting the sleeping bag. Out came a very tired looking hobo. "It took you lot eight seconds to quiet down. Life is too short to waste. I am your home room teacher Aizawa Shouta. Pleasure to meet you" He greeted and then pulled out something from his sleeping bag. A P.E. uniform. "Wear these immediately and then head to the P.E. grounds" He ordered as he shoved the first one into Greenies face. He started pulling out multiple uniforms and handing them t students as they made it to the door. I waited to be the last one.
"You really kept these in your sleeping bag? When was the last time you washed that?" I asked him.
"I put them in right before coming over, and they were wrapped in plastic" My dad defended.
"You just had to be extra. No wonder your so tired all the time" I retorted as I grabbed my uniform from him and left the room. Yes, my teacher is also my dad. It's a long story. Most of the kids had already changed so I joined them on the grounds when I finished.
"We will be conducting a quirk apprehension test" Aizawa-senei told us.
"QUIRK APPREHENSION TEST?!" My classmates exclaimed.
"Yes. We don't have time for the unnecessary opening ceremony. Yueii is known for its freedom it allows the students. The same freedom is applied to our teaching style. You have had your physical abilities tested as you grew up. As heroes you will need to be able to use your quirk efficiently. Bakugo, how far could you throw a softball in middle school?" he asked.
"Sixty-seven meters" Spiky blonde answered.
"Throw this using your quirk" Aizawa-sensei threw a soft ball at him. "Anything goes, as long as you stay in the circle."
Bakugou stretched out his arms before getting in a pitching stance.
"DIIIIIIEEEEE!" He hollered as he threw the ball. Sensei showed us his score of seven hundred and five point two meters.
"In order to improve, you must know what you can do. This will be your foundation of heroics!" Sensei exclaimed.
"We get to use our quirks?"
"That score is so manly!"
"This sounds like fun!"
My classmates began chattering. I flinched at the word fun, that was basically the worst thing you could say around dad during training.
"Fun? What happened to becoming heroes? Are you here to waste three years going to picnics and making friends? Very well then, new rule. The student with the lowest score will be deemed 'hopeless' and expelled" Aizawa-sensei threatened.
"You can't do that!" Brunette girl protested.
"I can. Welcome to the department of Heroics!" Sensei said dramatically as he raised his head higher and pushed his hair back. Dad could be so cring sometimes.
"It's our first day, this is too extreme!" One of my classmates exclaimed.
"Too extreme? Natural disasters, massive accidents, egotistical villains. Japan is currently 'too extreme'. It's our jobs as heroes to reverse it. If you were looking forward to your stereotypical highschool experience, you won't find it here. For the next three years at this school, all you should expect is hardship!" Sensei lectured. The class let his words sink in as he led us to our first test. We did the fifty-meter dash, then the grip strength test, standing long jump, and then we were back to the pitch. I wasn't doing too bad considering that my quirk was more non-offensive. It was the green, I mean Midoriya's turn to pitch. My classmates began muttering to each other how bad he was doing. Truly he was most likely in last place.
"...he's a quirkless guppy!" Bakugou said angrily.
"Quirkless? Did you not see him at the exam?" Iida asked.
Quirkless? Does that Bakugou know him or something. I wonder what would make him think that. Wait no! Not right now! I had thought to myself until my quirk decided to kick in. The images began flashing in my mind like movie scenes.
Midoriya being attacked by a sludge villain, All Might saving. Then on a roof, All Might deflated. He told Midoriya to find a different dream. Then I was following a depressed Midoriya towards a crowd of people. Bakugou was being attacked by the sludge villain now. The idiot green ran at the villain and tried to save spiky. All Might came to the rescue. Then it cut to All Might chasing down Midoriya and offering him his quirk. The kid accepted. Many, many workouts later, the kid was offered All Mights hair and told to eat it. The next scene was him punching a giant robot and breaking his arm and falling towards the ground.
My quirk stopped there. I could tell much information was left out, but what I saw was crazy enough to digest anyways. When I came to, Sensei was restraining Bakugou from attacking Midoriya. I would have to talk to him later about what I saw. Especially if the kid was gonna keep breaking himself. We finished the last two tests and we were all exhausted.
"Time to tell you your scores, which is simply the sum of all your tests. If I read them all it would take years, so I will simply show them. Also, the 'expulsion' thing" He paused dramatically. "It was a logical ruse" he grinned maniacally.
"WHHHHAAAAATT?!" Most of the class explained.
"C'mon, use your brain. It only makes sense that it was a lie" Yaoyorozu stated.
"Now that we are done, your syllabuses are in the classroom. Go over them tonight. Midoriya, go see recovery girl. You are gonna need it before tomorrow." Sensei ordered as he walked away. I stood at the side and waited for everyone to go to the changing room before following my dad. I found All Might and Aizawa talking to each other.
"Ah, Young….. Shiori! We were just talking! Do you need something?" All Might addressed me, and dad turned around.
"Hey kid, I thought we were avoiding each other at school?" He asked me.
"I was going too, but I had a vision dad. We all need to talk to Nedzu" I explained. He turned serious.
"What's it about?"
"I should go!" All Might said as he took a step back.
"NO! You have to come with. You can deflate if you need" I told him quickly so he wouldn't leave.
"De-deflate? I have no idea what you are talking about Young Shiori!" All Might forced a chuckle.
"Stop All Might. If she knows, it's cause she 'saw' it. Her visions don't lie. We will meet up with Nedzu after you change, kid" Dad instructed. I nodded and ran towards the changing rooms, which had already been deserted. It didn't take me long so I went down the familiar hallways towards the principal's office. The door opened as I approached.
"Hello Shiori! We were waiting for you" Nedzu greeted me. Dad was not in his sleeping bag, but was chilling against a wall. Meanwhile the deflated All Might was sitting nervously in one of the chairs in front of Nedzu's desk.
"Sorry, I had to change. Do you have a different name you want to be called right now?" I asked All Might. If he went around in this form using his hero name, My respect would go even more down hill.
"I go by Yagi Toshinori" He answered. "So Young Shiori, I have been told about your quirk. It is quite interesting."
"Yeah, well it is funny what it decides to tell me. Speaking of, you need to tell my dad everything" I said falt out.
"Everything? What could you mean?" He tried playing dumb.
"I know how your quirk works. It is important for Midoriya that you tell Dad. If you don't I will anyways. This is my attempt at respecting your secret." I told him.
"I don't see why I need to tell Aizawa. I can understand that your quirk told you, that cannot be avoided. I would like to keep the number of people who know limited." He stated.
"Fine, we will play it this way then. All Might's quirk is called One For All, and he can transfer it to someone else. He chose Midoriya" I rattled off quickly. "To make it worse, he gave him the quirk the day of the hero exam, and simply told him that to use it he needed to 'clench his butt cheeks'."
"Wait, what?" Dad asked. "You can transfer your quirk? And you taught the kid nothing on how to use it?"
"Well, that isn't exactly true. I trained him to be able to physically handle it" Yagi defended himself.
"Breaking bones counts as handling it?! Then what could have happened if he got it sooner?" Dad questioned angrily.
"I see you failed to mention you had chosen your successor" Nedzu said with his chilling smile.
"I was gonna tell you today! I swear! I didn't want the kid to think he got into the school purely by his connection to me!" Yagi said defensively. Seemed like he was gonna stay there. It was silent while Nedzu messed with his computer, no one daring to break the almost deathly silence.
"Recovery Girl, I see Midoriya is still in your office. Can you send him my way when you are done?" Nedzu said into his phone. "Thank you" He replied to her before hanging up. "She was just sending him off, so it won't be long till he gets here. Until then, Aizawa, I apologize for the fact I would have had to leave you uninformed. You see, I signed a NDA with Yagi before he explained to me how his quirk worked. Your daughter was able to tell you though, which is fantastic!" Nedzu apologized to dad.
"Speaking of things that need apologizing, did you ever apologize to Midoriya for crushing his dreams, and then leaving a clearly depressed teen on a roof after doing so? Do you know how long he stared at the edge of the building before deciding to take the stairs?" I tore into Yagi.
"What? I didn't, I wouldn't.. " The dawning horror of his actions crept into his face. A knock at the door was his saving grace.
"Come in Midoriya" Nedzu said.
"Ah, um, hello. You called for me?" Midoriya was scratching the back of his head nervously as he entered.
"Yes I did. We need to discuss about your quirk and your continuing enrollment with our school" Nedzu said. I looked at him in shock. I wasn't trying to get him kicked out! "It has come to my attention that All Might chose for you to be his successor of his quirk, is that right?"
"What? Succeed his quirk? Wha, what are you talking about? That couldn't happen" Midoriya began a mumbling fit.
"Young Midoriya, they already know. I do appreciate you trying to defend the secret though" Yagi said in defeat. I guess he realized he was in unavoidable trouble.
"Am I being kicked out?" Midoriya asked nervously.
"No, not at all. The fact that you managed to join the school with only having the quirk for an hour or so already demonstrates to me the amount of potential you have. I will not punish you for others incompetence" Nedzu said. Yagi flinched at the obvious allusion towards him. "As educator's though, we cannot allow you to simply keep breaking yourself every time you use your quirk. It will affect your health and ability to become a hero as you progress. I would rather set you up for success than failure" Nedzu explained kindly, and then looked at my dad. He sighed when he figured out where he was going with it.
"You will join me everyday before class for remedial quirk training. We need to get you to the level of not breaking yourself" Aizawa-sensei told him.
"Wait, I don't want to be a burden" Midoriya tried to deflect.
"Too late for that, problem child. It isn't your fault though, blame the adult who failed you" Aizawa glared at the skinny might who refused to look at him.
"He didn't fail me! He believed in my dream and gave me a chance!" Midoriya defended All Might.
"We will discuss that later. Anyways, do you agree to the extra training?" Aizawa changed the subject. Midoriya looked towards Yagi who gave him a small nod.
"Yes!"
"Good, now go home. Be here two hours before school starts, and don't think about being late" Aizawa-sensei told him.
"Yes sensei!" Midoriya bowed and left. I wonder if he even noticed if I was in the room.
"Dad, his awareness isn't very good. I don't think he noticed me" I pointed out.
"Don't you give me anymore work kid. That will be taken care of in normal classes. These remedial training will be ended as soon as he can use his quirk without breaking himself. Now go home with Yamada, I think I will be home late" Dad told me as he glared at Yagi. Big oof for him.
"Ok dad, don't be too late or you won't get to see Papa before your patrol!" I waved goodbye and left. I knew that it was going to be a metaphorical bloodbath in there, and that All Might was losing a few years off of his life.
