(AN: I know this story is garbage and all but I like it so if you don't like it then don't read it)
(Disclaimer: Harry Potter belongs to Rowling and other owners who bought this story. Not sure who they are but it sadly doesn't belong to me. If I did own this a bunch of things would have changed in the series, but seeing as I don't the books are staying as they are!)
Enjoy the show!
During the evening feast on Halloween someone at one end of the Gryffindor table started stomping their foot softly, almost nervously, in rhythm. Someone else at the other end of the table joined in, albeit a bit more confident. More joined in with the stomping, becoming louder and louder as more joined in. Soon enough the entire Gryffindor table was stomping their feet in rhythm together. Others from different tables began to join in, either knowing the tune as having grown up in the muggle world or just simply wanting to join in the theatrics.
Suddenly a voice started singing along with the stomping, almost causing three of the four tables to stop, but the Gryfindors were prepared for this to happen.
"There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy of Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow"
Harriet Potter stood from her seat, singing loudly enough for the rest of the students and teachers to hear. She began skipping around the table as she sang loudly, pouring butterbeer into goblets (the House Elves prepared it like this as asked) and patting students on their shoulders or heads, causing laughter from the other students around them and those that were pat got up and joined in the singing and skipping, patting other students around the table and getting them to join.
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
"She'd not been two weeks from shore
When down on her a right whale bore
The captain called all hands and swore
He'd take that whale in tow"
Soon the entire Gryffindor table were on their feet singing loudly, laughter in their voices. The song sounded loudly through the Great Hall and they swarmed the other students, those that knew the song urging others who didn't to keep stomping in tune and sang along with the Gryfindors loudly.
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
At this point even some of the teachers were stomping along with the students as the Gryffindors pulled students to their feet, still singing and began dancing with them. The action spread and more and more students were pulled to their feet to dance along, those that knew the song singing along loudly.
"Before the boat had hit the water
The whale's tail came up and caught her
All hands to the side, harpooned and fought her
When she dived down low"
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
"No line was cut, no whale was freed
The captain's mind was not of greed
And he belonged to the Whaleman's creed
She took that ship in tow"
Harriet skipped to the Slytherin table, still singing and pulled Draco Malfoy to his feet, laughter in her voice as she dragged him with her into the chaos of the singing and dancing students. Others began copying her and began to drag other Slytherins into the fray and finally all of Hogwarts were on their feet, singing and dancing with Dumbledore clapping along, watching on with a smile, a twinkle in his eye, even if Snape tried to get him to stop the commotion.
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
"For forty days or even more
The line went slack then tight once more
All boats were lost, there were only four
But still that whale did go"
The song continued on as the students continued to dance and the teachers (at least most of them) continued to stomp their feet or clap in tune with the song. However as the song started to come to a close the Gryffindors moved back to their table, but continued to sing and dance, letting the students know the song wasn't over quite yet.
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
"Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing is done
We'll take our leave and go"
At the very last word and stomp the Gryffindors bowed their heads in finality, letting the others know the song was over and the teachers stood and clapped happily. (Well except Snape who grumpily sat in his seat ((but who cares about him anyway?)) ) This time all of the students bowed and sat back in their seats, talking excitedly about what just happened and wondering if and when it'll happen again and the feast continued on as usual until it was time for bed. As the students made their way to the common room Harriet could have sworn she heard some of the other students humming the song they just sang and smiled softly to herself, happy this worked out like she hoped and the last of the students made their way back to their common rooms for the night.
AN: And scene! Now really, was it that hard to get through it? The fact that you're reading this now proves it wasn't! Either way hope you enjoyed it and if you found things I should fix (which you probably did) go ahead and let me know!
And with that I hope you have a wonderful day!
