The early summer's sun poured into the room, where Eren Yeager found himself confined to a chair inside the head instructor's office. His foot gently tapped against the dark pine wood in a steady rhythm, he understood the necessity of discipline and the respect for the chain of command. However, the buzzing of the cadets leaking into the office coupled with his growing impatience with this military police clown took its toll on him. There were a million different things he could be doing at this early hour in the morning, his nails threatened to dig into the flesh of his thighs at that thought.
The man in question sat across the table from him with his legs crossed, taking a sip from a porcelain teacup. "If I understand correctly, your unit was ambushed by bandits, following the incident you recklessly charged them alongside cadet Kirstein in complete disregard to protocol, all while unarmed. Afterwhich you retrieved your ODM gear and resumed the pursuit, impressive." He summarized.
He nodded. "That's right, sir." His patronizing tone did not sit well with Eren, but it wasn't like he could deck the man in the face. Many things prevented that, including Shadis who stood by the side as still as a statue. If anything it was intentional, to get under his skin.
The MP narrowed his eyes. "Did it occur to you that your actions could have placed the lives of your comrades in jeopardy?"
"I understood the risks sir, but I couldn't stand by and allow them to get away with Krista."
"Did they have any specific reason for taking cadet Lenz?" The man's eyes lit up with interest.
Eren furrowed his brows. "She was off on her own in the forest when she was kidnapped, I don't see any reason they'd single her out other than that."
The man hummed. "I see, very well."
The MP flipped through a notepad belonging to the instructor, who maintained a golden standard of silence. His eyes never failed to unnerve him, their appearance so sunken they almost made you feel like you could fall into them. Eren shifted in his seat, counting by the seconds till freedom. "How fortunate you are Cadet Yeager, must have been a relief to have Ackerman's unit nearby."
A vein threatened to pop on his forehead.
The MP's lips formed into a thin smile, lightyears away from where his eyes would be. "Your record says that you grew up with cadet Ackerman, says you're also quite familiar with another promising cadet, Floch Forster, I believe." As he continued to scan through the book, his eyes glinted with interest at a particular section in the reports.
"Somewhat."
"I received word from my patrols yesterday that Forster was admitted to the treatment facility, have they encountered trouble as well, Shadis?" Eren felt his stomach drop at the information.
Shadis turned, directly answering his question. "Yes, geological hazard. Three lightly injured, One will be transferred soon for rehabilitation." Shadis Informed.
'Transferred?' Eren found himself thinking.
"Where will you be moving him If I may ask?" The MP inquired with piqued interest.
"Our camp physician will be transferring him to Ehrmich military hospital by tonight."
"I see, Ehrmich. I hear that's where the survey corps' survivors are being treated currently. Let me say, that recent expedition of theirs was a total disaster, an entire flank taken out by the titans. Awful stuff." Eren froze at the piece of information. "But oh well, surely it'll be a good learning experience for Forster." Shadis remained indifferent to his prattling, Eren had enough people skills to pick up on the subtle jabs the man took against his commander.
"Perhaps."
The MP closed the notepad as he set it on the table and turned to Eren. "It is good to see you surround yourself with hardworking and talented individuals. No doubt, these relationships would prove to be the most beneficial to you cadet." He took a long obnoxious sip of the damned tea. "One day we'll have the honor of receiving the best of you at the military police, we value such potential and hard work."
Eren could have sworn he heard Shadis snort, but with the noise coming from the outside, he wasn't sure.
"That is all, you're free to leave now."
Eren saluted before promptly leaving the room much to his relief, whatever mind-numbing conversation the older men would have in that office did not concern him a single bit. Eren exited the building feeling much worse than before, he dreaded ever having to work under these people at the military police. He belonged to the world outside this prison that surrounded them, annihilating the titans, and cleansing them from this earth. That is his sole purpose to move forward in this life, he solemnly swore on his late mother's memory to purge them in her honor, and he will be damned if he didn't do good on that promise.
He couldn't deny that hearing about the survey corps' high mortality rate was discouraging to an extent, but it hardly put a dent in his resolve. They were supposed to be the best of the best, sure they sustain heavy casualties from time to time, but an entire flank? It was unheard of. It was undoubetdly a fatal blow to troop morale, but no matter. Things will change, everything gets better eventually. Once he continues to push forward and graduate from the cadet corps, he'll start to make way for some real change, no matter the cost.
Armin and Mikasa perked up upon noticing the green-eyed boy exit the building. "Eren!"
"Hey."
Armin began. "Did everything go well in there?"
"Yeah... Just a bunch of annoying questions, that MP prick was starting to get on my nerves."
Armin frowned. "I can't believe they could be this incompetent. Half-assed investigations are one thing, but allowing bandits to roam freely on military grounds?"
"Tell me about it, they didn't even think to check up on the other squads out there. They didn't know about Floch and his team until they got here." Eren grumbled, The other two were intrigued by his words.
"Floch? What happened?" Armin questioned with a hint of concern in his voice.
"Ahh, right. His team got into some kind of accident. Floch's at the hospital right now, you think they allow visitors?"
Mikasa hummed in confirmation. "Hmm. I saw his teammates leave earlier."
Eren beamed at her words. "Great! I'll go check up on him. See you guys later!"
The two watched him beeline it towards the hospital, feeling slightly left out after waiting for the boy to finish the interrogation. Her coal-like eyes were glued to the retreating Eren the entire duration.
"You know? Now that I think about it, Eren and Floch have become close ever since that day he helped us with the ODM test." Armin commented.
Her face darkened as an unpleasant thought soured her mood.
"How Could Anything Be More Important Than Keeping Humanity From Being Wiped Out?" - Eren Yeager 850 AD, after encountering pastor Nick.
Eren snuck his way through the lobby without alerting a soul, choosing to avoid the nurse entirely seeing that he did not require their permission nor help in finding Floch's whereabouts. He chanced upon Franz and Hannah while wandering the hallways, and after a brief exchange the boy found himself directed towards Floch, he gave a double knock before cracking the door open.
"Floch?" Eren called out.
His attention was torn away from his book before landing at the entrance, the lone iris lit up with surprise at the sight of him. Eren walked to the edge of the room, then prompty took a seat next to him. He took a moment to absorb the sight before him, picturing the healthier Floch sitting side by side with his current self. The bandages tightly clung to his skin, obscuring the right side of his face, and leaving a small slit where his left eye was. Hints of blood were visible through the layers which served as a bleak reminder of the boy's mortality.
"You look like you've seen better days." Eren commented.
"Can't really say I have." Floch smirked.
"I heard about what happened, I'm glad to see you're okay, must have been nasty." His eyes briefly glanced at the wrapped limb.
Floch peered down at his broken arm. "Yeah, Got hit by a chunk of...Rock." He slowly finished.
"And how are you feeling?"
"No less sore than your typical day at boot camp, Arm's a bitch though, hurts at the slightest touch. The doc said they're still not done treating it so fingers crossed I suppose." Floch sighed, and Eren nodded in understanding.
"With you out of the picture that just sounds like less competition for me, I'll take your position on the monthly rankings in no time!" He laughed.
"Oh please don't even get me started, I can count on my good hand the number of people in this camp who can shove some humility up your ass. I heard about the little adventure your unit had, don't think you're the shit now because you manhandled some morons with rifles."
"Hey, don't get carried away now!" Eren hotly fired back.
"Just count your blessings. At least you can regene-"
The moisture in Floch's throat turned to dust in an instant as he caught himself before he could finish that sentence, the damage had already been done though. Eren looked visibly perplexed by his choice of words, slightly alarmed by his shift in behavior. Floch inwardly cursed and quickly moved to control the damage to the best of his ability.
"-What was I saying again?"
"Must have hit your head hard." Eren furrowed his brows.
"Maybe that's why I'll be staying here for a while."
"Can't say I won't miss having you around, I'm starting to wipe the floor with Connie and the other guys."
"Damn yeager, don't blink I could disappear."
The two gazed back at each other in silence for a few seconds, Floch could feel something wasn't alright with the boy. Usually they would be hurling more jokes at each other.
"Something wrong?"
Eren frowned, his eyes went down to the floor to avoid his gaze. Floch furrowed his brows in question, watching as the shifter fidgeted in his seat.
"Yeah, the MP." Eren replied through grit teeth.
Floch could excuse his behavior, the mention of the military police intrigued him. They were about as useful to maintaining order and security to those around them as prayers were effective against titans, he could only imagine what sort of torture they had him sit through during their investigation. He was somewhat surprised they hadn't thought to come here and harass him yet, perhaps at a later date.
"What did they say?"
"What didn't they say?! Belittling me and my unit, telling me I should have left Krista behind, the backhanded compliments, comparing me to Mikasa. It's so insufferable."
Floch didn't miss the way his fists clenched the fabric of his pants in a deathly grip.
"The bastard also said something about the survey corps... They lost an entire flank on an expedition yesterday can you believe that? He sounded so damn smug rubbing it in Shadis' face like he didn't just talk about his people dying." Eren mumbled with seething anger.
"I see."
"It's clear as day where their priorities lie. It makes me angry just thinking about it, they see us as nothing but fodder for their organization, the ten most skilled and hardworking of us all reduced to paper pushers and lackeys for those corrupt assholes."
"I can't say I disagree. The military police have always been known for shady practices and abuse of power, It's an open secret. Not that they're bothered by it. Their branch is a waste of manpower, and resources, but if it means the continuation of the little prison state they built for us, why should they care?"
"You think so?" Eren's eyes lit up with an indecipherable emotion.
"I know so, think, why is the survey corps receiving less funding when it's far more intensive than the other two branches? Wouldn't It make more sense to provide the people who put their necks on the line with better funding? Why are they the ones treated like a waste of taxes when the other branches just sit around all day in their fancy headquarters and eat the best food imaginable? Even then, all of the honest work gets pushed down on their recruits while they reap all the benefits."
Eren felt enthralled by Floch's passionate rant, he clung to every word that came out of the boy's mouth like gospel. He longed to hear someone speak their mind about the state of their world, without using the filter that most people opt for so that they feel compatible with the herd. For the longest time, it felt like he was the only person here invested in vanquishing the titans for good, to share thoughts with someone sharing his level of zeal was a breath of fresh air. Like stumbling upon an oasis deep in the treacherous plains of the desert.
"To be put it plain and simple, the government has no interest in getting rid of the titans. It's a business for them at this point, I doubt they care much about the outside world. No, they want us cooped up here like good little boys and girls. Humanity freeing itself from the titans isn't good for the government. Because they lose a key factor which has kept their subjects from revolting even under the cruelest laws imaginable."
"A business? What does it mean? ...And what is it that you're talking about?" Eren puzzled.
"I'm talking about fear Eren, the government has effectively subjugated the masses by their fear of the titans. Since they're the only ones who could possibly put up a fight against this insecapable monster, who else but them? Who would keep us safe if they're gone? As long as that remains the truth, there is nothing to be done about the status quo. They'll gladly keep us below their feet and enjoy their privileges at our expense. Perhaps one day, someone will give this ugly beast a good kick in the teeth. But, until then, we're forced to go with the flow." Floch concluded, releasing an exasperated sigh.
"You know, you're not the first person to tell me something similar to that. Annie opened up my eyes about the real world, this entire system is a joke, we gain nothing from these people at all." Eren whispered. He looked down at his feet and clutched the fabric of his pants tightly.
"Annie?" Floch questioned with a raised brow.
Floch took full notice of the anger that bubbled inside him like a volatile gas, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction in seeing the proverbial fuse of Eren Yeager lit up. For one Floch Forster, this was the desired result. To rock the cradle of Eren's contempt back and forth and nurture it to its full potential, Floch couldn't have asked for a better responsibility. One day he'll make him privy to his innermost thoughts, and that need for revenge will fester even further until they achieve what fate had sent him back to accomplish.
It was truly a beautiful sight to behold.
"Armin and I used to read this book his grandfather had, it spoke of an endless lake of salt, snowfields of sand, and rivers that run hot with flames. I haven't given it much thought before but now I realize that I can't reach this dream of ours without getting rid of the shackles that these animals have placed around us, how can we reach that sight beyond this prison when we're prevented from defeating our greatest enemy?" Eren spoke.
Anyone else would have been disturbed by those deranged emeralds but not him. They were the eyes of a monster, a devil in the making.
"Indeed." Floch simply replied.
Floch found himself somewhat losing his perception of the world around him, between the times spent inside carriages and confined to hospital rooms it was no wonder the boy had barely noticed the passage of time. The energizing glow of the morning sun was beginning to wrap its warm blankets around Ehrmich by the time of his arrival, and the city began to bustle with activities as the people, merchants, and soldiers alike initiated their morning rituals.
The carriage came to a complete halt, the boy moved the covers off to the side and peeked through the slit into their surroundings. He came face to face with the outside of the military hospital. The citizens of Ehrmich moved about with their lives as some sneaked glances inside the carriage. Soon enough, the physician walked around to the back and pulled the covers away as sunlight seeped into the rest of the carriage. One of the men next to him nudged the sleeping officers awake as they disembarked one after the other.
"Come on boy! Any more daylight burned and we just might have to cut that arm of yours clean off, get!" The physician spurred in a snappy tone.
Floch silently nodded in acknowledgment as he followed the man inside, after quick verification by the guards stationed at the gates the two made their way into the front entrance. The redhead walked behind the man through a well kept spacious garden as he kept an eye out for the inhabitants of this hospital. Patients from different branches of the military were designated by patches on their hospital-issued garbs, with the Survey corps being the overwhelming majority of all patients.
This was no surprise to Floch, he knew from personal experience that the garrison and MP life carried little to no risk at all. Most garrison soldiers sent off here had been injured during freak accidents, typically occurring during the replacement of the defensive canons or general maintenance of the walls. He had heard stories about soldiers who'd run out of gas swinging from the walls, it never ended well for those people.
They made their way to the reception desk, Floch was instructed to sit nearby and wait while the physician sorted his papers with the administration. Eventually, another nurse came along and took him upstairs to get him situated in his new living quarters. Floch followed the woman through the corridors, their footsteps echoing on the marble floor as they ventured deeper inside, a hair-raising shrill took his attention away from his musings as he looked on through the windows into the garden below. Three nurses rushed to subdue a screaming survey corps veteran as he thrashed around on the ground, eventually, his horrified cries for help were silenced by a calming syringe injected in the neck.
"Don't be alarmed, this happens more often than you think. We have no idea why they suddenly just lose their minds out of nowhere, but it's not like I blame them you know? I'd be scared too If I had to go out there and face those titans, bit of a waste to do that, isn't it? You seem like a good kid, let this be a lesson to stay from the corps away as far as possible."
A chilly breeze swept into the cobblestone interior, causing Floch to shiver in his seat. He gripped the rifle tightly by his side, shifting uncomfortably on his spot as his eyes roamed around the prison cell with boredom. The silence down in the dungeons unnerved him to no ends, he took to counting the bricks in the wall to distract himself from his thoughts. A random thought popped in mind, bricks, stone, massive, the beast titan.
"Hngh." He choked as he averted his eyes in panic.
"Perhaps assigning a damaged soldier to guard the cells wasn't the wisest decision your superiors could have made." A woman spoke from behind him in the cells.
He slightly jumped in panic at the sudden voice. "What are you on about?"
"That distant faraway look on your face, I can recognize it anywhere. The shaking, the sudden panic, and the crippling fear that takes hold. Back in my homeland, we call that combat fatigue, or war neurosis, it has many names. Soldiers who come back from war are vastly affected by it, it hinders them completely, wrapping its poisonous vines around their psyche. Some who exhibit symptoms of this disease on duty are often shot on sight for insubordination during wartime."
Floch froze at her words, the tall blonde woman casually stepped forward from the shadows and stood face to face with him from behind the prison cell.
"You don't fucking know me." He hissed at her.
"I do not need to. But what I can do, is offer you help in exchange for a favor."
"Help, favor? Are you trying to get me hanged?"
"If you can't manage those episodes there's a chance I wouldn't even have to try. There will be an upcoming festival soon to celebrate the opening of the railway system, I believe nobody will notice if you were to schedule a meeting between Eren Yeager and I, believe me when I say that I do not take these matters lightly, this is of utmost importance for the future of this island."
Floch mulled over her offer for what seemed like ages, before begrudgingly accepting.
"Very well, Yelena."
Floch's attention snapped to the back of the nurse as she kept guiding the boy through the building, he let out a small hum in acknowledgment but didn't bother to speak to the woman any further.
"Well kid, this is your new home for the next few weeks. You have five other roommates to keep you company so be on your best behavior once they're back here, When we finish preparations with the procedure, I'll be coming to scoop you up. For now, sit tight and don't cause any trouble."
"Thank you." He muttered, the nurse inadvertently pulling him away from that bleak pit.
The nurse walked out and closed the door behind him leaving Floch alone in the room, he latched on to the chirping of the birds, and the gentle breeze that flowed into the room carrying the distant chatter from the outside. He sits on the windowsill and looks off into the distance, it felt strange to be somewhere so bright and warm yet still feel cold inside.
Floch noticed a small stack of letters on top of one of the other patient's nightstands.
"It's Good To See Someone Has The Balls To Go But Do Not Forget To Do Your Damnedest To Stay Alive." - Levi Ackermann 850 AD, speaking to one Jean Kirstein during the operation to capture the female titan.
Dear flochy,
i am wholharedly touched that you have decided to grace us with a letter during these tryin times, i find your concern very thoghtful, sandra is still pissed you left without telling us, you should have seen the look on her face when she didn't find you in your room! of course she immediately started pestering me to look for you but there is only so much a guy can do in Keith Shadis's world, Believe it or not you're actually really popular now! everyone from our mission team has tried to reach out for you including that ymir chick, so I'll use this opportunity to apologize for punching you really hard that one time, you'll accept me by your side now right? You would since you're the one who wrote first, anyway im running out of space on this paper because I didn't consider to write in smaller letters, Oh! the consequnces of my actions! Me sandra and the others will try to harass you in person if they keep you away for too long (if we're allowed of course)
with love, gordon
I wasted the only letter they allowed me to send without asking sandra's input and she's throwing a hissy fit next to me as im writing this.
Floch shook with mirth as he read through the half-assed letter Gordon wrote, after an entire week spent in this graveyard, It felt like someone had breathed some life into him. He couldn't get rid of the shit-eating that threatened to split his face in half.
"Huh, what's this?"
One of his survey corps roomates spoke as they snatched the letter from his hands, flaunting it in the air for all to see. He jumped after the man to recover the piece of paper, but with one arm in a sling, he could only do so much. The man in question used his height advantage to keep the letter out of the boy's reach as the other four laughed at his expense.
"Let's see, a love letter perhaps? This thing is hard to read, who wrote this junk?" The man mocked as he continued to pester Floch.
"Give that back."
"Nuh-uh! Not so fast, let me finish reading this first! Goodness, such terrible handwriting and grammar! What do they teach you, kids, nowadays?!"
"Come on, Oluo! What does it say?" A man Floch came to know as Henning shouted from his bed on the other side of the room.
"Let's see! hmmm, Ohohohoho looks like we got a ladies boy over here, Sandra, Ymir, they just keep stacking! Why didn't you tell us you were so popular Flochy-boy?" Oluo taunted as the boy in question seethed at him.
"Watch out! He's getting angry!" Rashad shouted.
"One last time, Give it back." He hissed through grit teeth.
"Or what? Hmm?"
Floch wasted no time, he harshly stomped on the man's toes. Oluo hunched over in agony, coming at eye level with Floch. The redhead snatched the letter away before pushing the man, leaving him rolling on the ground clutching his foot in pain. The other occupants in the room exploded into laughter as an orange-haired woman with a similarly broken arm walked over to the aching man.
"Honestly, Oluo! I have no idea what you were expecting." She sighed.
"I'll show that damned brat, out of the way Petra!" He quickly rose for revenge before promptly falling back down again and clutching his other leg, completely forgetting his injury.
Floch hastily left the room, unable to deal with their antics. He clutched his letters tightly to his chest as he moved through the corridors down towards the lounge to send a reply back to Gordon. Upon nearing the lounge, the boy heard a commotion coming a nearby corridor. He turned around the corner to find a couple of Military police officers messing with one of the recovering patients.
"Look at him, he's white as a sheet! How did such a massive pussy make it into the Survey corps! hah!" The officer laughed at the cowering man beneath him, the two other officers chuckling with him.
Floch took a moment to observe, most were begrudgingly watching the situation unfold, he understood perfectly well. These officers ran the place, to get on their bad side would be a hassle. Yet, it didn't sit well with him. He hated the MP's with a burning passion, to him these people were the height of conformity. The eager lapdogs of this corrupt system that planned to doom them all. Thanks to Eren, his disdain for these animals had reignited. His lone eye peered to the side to analyze his surroundings.
"Leave him alone." He said, the air grew tense with silence.
The three officers turned around to face him, each of them taking offense to his meddling. They turned around to face him, as the man who spoke before approached him. Floch remained perfectly still, he lazily eyed the incoming MP as he waited for the perfect opportunity to present itself.
"That wasn't you who said that right kid? Because it's a hundred years too early for some fuckhead cadet to tell me what to do." He sneered at Floch.
The man stopped in front of him, towering over the injured boy. He looked down at him with contempt, his arm reached forward and clutched him by the collar of his hospital-issued shirt. He yanked the boy towards him and stooped down to eye level, Floch remained impassive much to his annoyance.
"So quiet, Don't tell me the cat got your tong-"
Before the man could finish, Floch took hold of his hand and twisted the man's wrist as he winced in pain. He quickly stomped on the officer's foot causing him to hunch over. However, this time around he headbutted him as hard as he could sending the guard sprawling on the floor. The other two officers were briefly rooted in shock, before promptly rushing over. He braced himself for the worst. Unexpectedly, someone swept his feet from underneath him as he fell on his ass harshly.
"My, my. What is all this fuss huh?" A man spoke from behind Floch. He winced in pain as his hair was pulled back firmly.
"Look at you, rushing to beat the shit out of this poor kid." Levi Ackermann commented, still clutching the boy by his hair.
"C-Corporal Levi." The bullied patient stuttered in awe.
"Take your friend with you and leave before I lose my patience, you know what you did so scram."
The two officers immediately took his offer and carried the unconscious man away, shooting Floch dirty looks as they vacated the corridor.
"This isn't over." One of them told him, Levi shot him a glare and the man flinched as they left.
"Aren't you a little young to be causing this much trouble? This is your first and final warning, you understand?" Levi spoke.
To emphasize, he yanked on his hair harshly, causing the boy to wince.
"Yes, sir."
"Consider yourself lucky you're not being thrown in jail, don't assault your superiors like that again. Am I crystal? Or do you need more guidance?"
"Understood, sir."
"Say it with your chest!" He yanked again.
"UNDERSTOOD, SIR!"
Levi let go of his locks, before slapping the back of the head much to his displeasure. Floch crawled away from the man before standing back on his feet, rubbing away the soreness on the back of his head. It felt weird to see him back to full strength, under last times circumstances he wasn't ntohing more than a bleeding corpse. It made him forget how truly strong he could be for someone of his stature.
'Ackermann Genes.' Floch thought to himself.
"Good, fuck off now." With that, Levi disappeared around the corner.
"Hey, Thank you for standing up for me back there. But you really shouldn't have, those bastards are ought to be coming for you now kid." The cowering man from before spoke to him.
"It's nothing, I won't be here long anyway." Floch brushed it off.
"Whatever you say, anyway I'm Luis. If you ever need anything, I'm your guy, alright?" The man smiled, Floch nodded as they both went their separate ways.
He walked towards the reception desk and took a small capsule he stuffed his letter into, he dropped it into a slot and briefly watched it descend to the basement. With nothing else to do, Floch took a walk outside to clear his mind. As he walked through the garden he could think about nothing but the future, He had just encountered Levi Ackermann. That could mean Erwin Smith was nearby, which gave him an option. He could go now and be done with, tell the man everything he knew and watch everything snowball to shit. He could.
Floch sighed as he sat by a fountain, he looked up at the sky and closed his eyes, relishing in the feeling of the warm glow of the sun on his face as he mulled things over. A few minutes later he stood up and walked back to his room. As he neared the door, he could faintly hear voices coming from the other side. He cracked the door open and stepped inside as everyone went deathly quiet.
"Ah! You're back! Come back for round two, you little shit?!" Oluo screamed at him, breaking the silence.
Floch stared back at the group huddled together by a girl's bed, her name was Nifa if his memory served him right. Oluo, Petra, Rashad, henning, Levi, and Hange Zoe sat together by the sides. He blinked at the sight. Flashes of memories raced across his mind at the face of his former commander. Levi's eyes narrowed as he looked back at the boy.
"So this is the brat you told me about." He commented.
"Damn right he is." Oluo grit his teeth.
"Huuuuuh?!" Hange exclaimed in bewilderment. She turned to Nifa then looked back at the bandaged Floch. She picked out the color of his lone eye and hair, comparing it to that of Nifa's.
"Nifa! You didn't tell me you had a younger brother!" She beamed at the younger girl.
"What?!" Most of the others exploded at her remark, including Floch.
"Actually..." Rashad spoke. "I kind of see it."
"So, you're this Floch I've heard about Huh?" Hange asked, invading his personal space.
"Yes maa-"
"Tell me, How did you break your arm like that?! Is the training that hard nowadays?" She asked him. Floch took a few steps back.
"Well it wa-"
"How would you rate your stay with our cute subordinates so far?" She continued pestering him.
"I..."
"Hange, leave the brat alone. He's all germs and grease."
"Aww, come on Leviiiii! It's not every day you get a chance to examine such a green cadet like this! Tell me, who would you like to join when you graduate?!" She whined before asking him yet again.
"Intimidating a cadet into joining our ranks is not how I'd go about recruiting new personnel Hange." A familiar voice spoke from behind Floch.
Floch's eye widened in awe as he looked back at the man that stepped into the room. Frantic heartbeats quickened as they threatened to dig out of his chest.
"Commander Erwin!" Everyone around him except for Levi, and Hange, saluted the man.
"Good morning." Erwin greeted with a smile.
Floch's knees wobbled at the sight of him.
'MY SOLDIERS RAGEEEEEEEE!'
It's safe to say that the alternative title for this chapter is "Fuck the military police: the chapter.", I don't have any insightful commentary as to why I hate them, becaue only ymir knows.
To that one person who asked me If I read Robert E Howard, the answer is no, the only books I ever read in my entire life were Harry potter : the prisoner of Azkaban, a guide on nutrition, and a copy of George Orwell's 1984 in French that a friend gave me for my birthday.
With that said thanks for reading and you'll see me next time
