Sands of Change
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 13
After a while of leisure travel. Lucy and Hermione were back in Magnolia. Hermione magicked their scent to be masked. To the point that no one could smell them out.
They made their way to Lucy's apartment and paid the rent she owed. Dropped their things off and headed into the guild. Once at the doors, they noticed how few people were there. Only the girls were there, which was odd to say the least.
The two looked at each other. Gave a small nod, then walked inside. Making their way towards the bar. When the two sat down, Mira looked up from what she was doing.
"Hi," she looked around. Just as the sounds of men working out in the back. Sounds of thumps and grunts were heard. "We need to keep our voices down," she whispered softly. "Ever since you left, they have been working out."
"Is master in," asked Hermione, whispering in lower tones.
Mira nodded, pointed to his office. The two nodded. They slowly got onto their feet and made it to his office. Slipped into the room, before Hermione waved a spell to soundproof the room. The two had taken a deep breath of relief.
Makarov looked at the two of them. Then his eyes flashed, when he realized who they were.
"How was your adventure on the island?"
The two smiled at each other. "Memorable." Then they told their story about their time on the island.
"Mavis," the man gasped. "Two more Dragon Slayers!" He shook his head. "I don't know how the guild is going to handle this. I already dealt with an upheaval, when the two of you left.
"I swear, I don't want to know what Dragon Slayers' mating season is like. It was a bloody nightmare around here." Makarov shook in his seat. "Natsu, I don't know if I should thank him or not. But he has challenged everyone into a workout. When he realized he couldn't get anyone to battle him."
"Why," asked Lucy.
Makarov chuckled deeply. "Most of the men, since you've left, have been on edge. I think it's because he couldn't handle the tension anymore. He had challenged the guild into a workout. Even the girls didn't want to be left behind. Poor Wendy, she has been training like mad, saying she needs to catch up with everyone."
"That's sad." Lucy turned to Hermione with sad eyes. "She doesn't need that kind of stress."
"I agree," growled Hermione. Making Lucy stop her nagging. "I guess we need to let the guild know we're here."
Makarov smiled at the two of them. "For what it's worth. I am happy to see the two of you back at the guild."
The two nodded. Handed him a thousand back to him. Then the master led the two back to the bar. Where he gave the two a worried look. Before the master signals Mira to ask them, her well known question.
"What can I get you?"
Causing the sound of heavy lifting to stop. Causing everything else from moving as well.
"Strawberry milkshake, Mira," smiled Lucy.
Hermione sighed, "Strawberry, kiwi slushy."
"Coming right up! How was your mission, Lucy and Hermione?"
Each of them knew that they didn't need to talk very loudly. But slightly more than normal. Just as Mira turned from the bar. Everyone moved from the training area, to the main part of the guild. Seeing the two girls at the bar.
Lucy sighed, "Hermione did most of the work. Since she knew how to read the writing on the wall," she giggled. "Mostly it was enjoyable."
Mira smiled, carrying their drinks to them. "That's great, but why does Hermione look upset?"
Lucy groaned, "My Celestial Spirit King was Hermione's old friend. After seeing him on the island, she won't be able to see again."
Mira gaped at her, just as shocked as everyone else. "You know the Gods?"
Hermione glanced down. "Yep." She took a sip of her drink in thought. "If I had stayed, would I have been a goddess?"
Lucy looked at her in worry. Before glancing around the guild. "I think there are some worshipers that are willing to build a temple for you."
"Build, temple," chimed Popo.
Hermione couldn't help the giggle that ripped through her. "I think I would have libraries in my name, before a temple." Then a thought ran through her. "But Draco's temple was pretty, though. Even as a ruined temple, it was pretty."
Bickslow braved his way over to them. Flashing his big grin. "Hey baby, where did you kidnap my baby?"
"A tropical island getaway," smiled Hermione with a straight face. "It wasn't kidnapping if he came willingly."
"Yep," nodded Popo. "Willing kidnapped." He giggled darkly. "Just me and two babes on the beach, Bickslow."
"Popo," hissed Bickslow. Trying to grab the totem, as it flew out of Bickslow's reach. "Get back here." Then chased after it. Causing many to laugh.
Natsu rushed to them. Wrapped an arm around each of their shoulders. "Let's have a rematch!"
Hermione and Lucy had managed to shove him away. "No," they answered.
He turned to look at each of them. Nose at each of them. "Luce, why do you smell like her?" He pointed towards Hermione. "Like a Celestial Dragon Slayer?"
Lucy and Hermione looked at each other. Shrugged their shoulders and then looked at him. "Because," they answered.
This caused a few to become uneasy as they heard that. But very few seemed more interested.
"I learned to become a Celestial Dragon Slayer, Natsu," hissed Lucy. "I learned while we were on the island."
"Oh," Natsu looked sad and lost, when Lucy told him. "You don't need a Fire Dragon Slayer to protect you, then?"
Hermione turned towards Lucy. Seeing that she had mixed feelings, as they crossed her face.
"You're still my friend, Natsu. The one who brought me to Fairy Tail," she smiled at him.
"Yeah," the pink-haired teen grinned. "I saved you, even back then."
Happy flew over to them. Only to hug Lucy. "Lushy, you have a lot of admirers!" He then turned to Hermione, after dodging Lucy's hit. "So do you, Herms."
Hermione rolled her eyes. "So," she shrugged her shoulders. "What's the big deal?"
"Some, want to marry you!" Causing a few to turn red and cough. Realizing that a couple didn't think about marriage. Just the bed part.
"Nope, not without marriage, I won't!" She glared in the room at large.
"Same," Lucy had stressed out. "It's very important to me."
One thing about being Dragon Slayers that Hermione and Lucy had noticed. Their belief in marriage came first. Before the call to mate would be answered. The two felt a slight awareness of their mate. But they couldn't pinpoint who it was yet.
Even with their hyped Dragon Slayer abilities. Their mates could have changed. But that was a very slim chance that it had. After all, a mate could only accept them for who they are.
'So far so good, it hasn't become a mating frenzy.' At least that was what Hermione had hoped that it wouldn't turn into.
