Sands of Change

Lady Countryrose

Ch. 14

After spending time at the guild. The two girls had gone back to the apartment without any issues. The two let out a sigh in relief. Neither of them were ready for the stress behind the mating call.

The two sat down on the couch. Just looking at the door or window, in worry. They felt a presence calling to them. One at each entrance. But neither of them were brave enough to get close to either entrance.

Lucy looked towards Hermione with worry. "I can't tell who has been following us. The scents are throwing me off."

Hermione sighed, "I know, it's the same with me." She lifted her legs over the armrest. "We're still new Dragon Slayers, I'm not in a hurry to get in bed."

Lucy gave a concerned look. "Don't you want to be with anyone?"

Hermione sighed. "I do, but only to the right one. I want someone who will value my brain. Not just someone to bear children with."

Lucy nodded her head. Giving a small smile. She turned to look out the window. Seeing a couple of shadows below her bedroom window. Hearing the soft, deep whispers of men she knew behind her mind's eye. But couldn't point a finger of who they are.

She knew it wasn't anyone that she knew intimately well. It wasn't Natsu, Happy or Gray. She knew them, like the freckles behind her hand. She had worked and traveled with them for a few years. Enough to know them intimately without being sexual.

Lucy hasn't been with anyone in that nature. She had come close, or as close as one would believe. Only to find how misguided that near decision was. Slipping away, before they realized she left. She had imagined a couple guild mates, but not enough to act on it.

Hell, she had pictured Gajeel and Cobra and maybe Elfman. Only because of their deep voices. Their strong sense of their abilities and their will behind it.

Then there was Bickslow, due to his dangerous magic. But the trust to have him at her side. Would outweigh any danger for Lucy.

Even Midnight is dangerous in his own right. But not enough to face his nightmares to face the dangers.

Freed, for his mind alone. Laxus, he is too arrogant for her to give a chance.

Elfman, a sweet hearted man. His quirks could drive anyone mental. But a teddy bear under the beast of him. Worth it for the right reasons.

Most guys at the guild would drive her insane. Due to their limit of mental envisioning. Lack of education could hurt people's growth. Even Natsu had those limitations. But the heart of a gullible boy.

Lucy knew she needed a man. Help reshape her world. Grow with her, as they become stronger, together. At least that was what she had always believed.

Hermione looked at her. "You look like you're scheming for a Romantic Adventure."

Lucy shrugged as her lips pulled to a smirk. "I think I have one in mind." She then turned to her desk. She grabbed a piece of paper and started writing a new story.

Her pen danced across the page. Scraping at each letter becomes a word. Before it becomes paragraphs of the enchanted story. As it grew, a life of its own. Before it allowed her to rest, after three characters were finished. The hour chimed at two in the morning. Releasing her bond to the pages before her.

There, Hermione and Lucy fell asleep, scattered around the living room. When rest had finally taken them to a deep abyss of sleep.
