Welcome one and all to the madness that is the internet! Yes, I have returned with the newest Story for 2021! Last year has been crazy and not kind to everyone. But during that year I have been bouncing off this idea with not only my normal Co-writer Wolfpackersson09 and also The Cowardly Christian a simple concept that brings one of the Greatest Shows from Disney together with the newest up and coming show that is also winning the hearts of fans, everyone. Gravity Falls and the Owl House.
Here the concept is simple and something people have been saying before, but Stanly Pines and Eda Crawford ended up married and are now living together in Gravity Falls and the Owl House. We worked on a way to balance the two shows together while also giving an entertaining tale and twist to the shows we love. One butterfly flapping its wings in the Boiling Isles is causing a hurricane of changes to Gravity Falls and more.
Are you ready for the insanity? Too late because here we go!
Disclaimer: This is a fan-made production and I do not own the rights to Gravity Falls nor the Owl House. This is merely for entertainment only, enjoy.
The Owl House of Gravity Falls
~Chapter 1: Welcome to Gravity Falls~
Gravity Falls, a quiet town that many travelers might pass by, some stopping at the few tourist attraction the town has to offer. To anyone passing through, none would think the town would hide a world of the strange and weird. It is as if the town attracts all things weird. But the people of Gravity Falls life their normal lives without concern. Some don't even know their town, houses anything strange while others simply keep to themselves about it. But one place that centers around the strange is one tourist trap on the edge of town in the woods. Tourists visit and were amazed by the displays of the weird and strangeness. This is was famous, or infamous depending on who you asked, Mystery Shack.
The owner of the Mystery Shack, one Stan Pines, has finished a tour and made a good amount of money not only for the tour but also for the gift shop. He chuckled to himself as he finished counting his money and locking it in his safe. As he typed the code in and shut the door, the door and lock glowed before it was completely locked up tight. He stretched and walked into his living room since his house held the tour room, gift shop as well as his actual house. Loosening his tie he slumped into his lazy-boy with a sigh and relief. He barely sat down before he heard the sound of something made of wood folding up. He glanced to the side to see a wooden door folding into place in the middle of the room with nothing behind it. It was a fancy looking door with the most noticeable feature was the large golden slit eye near the top.
The door quickly opened up, whatever was on the other side was hidden by a blinding light before a shadow appeared in the doorway and walked into the Mystery Shack. After the woman entered the house the door folded up behind her until it became a suitcase that slid to the side of the room. "Oh Titan, what a day."
She is a tall, slender woman with ivory skin, ears, and golden eyes. Her untamed hair is thick, long, and layered a graying shade of orange with several gray streaks going through it. She has a single golden fang that sticks out, orange claw-like nails, and an oval amber gem on her sternum.
She wears a sleeveless two-tone maroon dress with a ripped-like hem design and gray leggings ending in maroon high-heeled boots. Her pointed ears held two orange spherical earrings and an amber spherical ring was on her left hand. This lady had many names and titles both in Gravity Falls and her home but to Stan, she was simply Eda Pines, his wife.
Stan chuckled as Eda walked towards him before sitting down in his lap and leaned against him. "Got any good sales?"
Eda gave a small 'meh' before adjusting herself to get comfortable. "Just some nuts trying to haggle but they weren't any good and stubborn. This got the guards to notice my stand, but I got away with my money." She glanced at him, "How was your day?"
Stan grinned, "it actually went well. The summer tourist season is starting and already got a few tours and people spending at the gift shop." He paused, "I did get an interesting phone call today though."
Eda raised a brow with him bringing this up. "Anything important?"
"It was Shermie's kid."
This took Eda by surprise. "Your nephew? That's odd; is everything okay with your family?"
"Oh yeah everything fine," Stan assured her. "No accidents or any of them majorly sick. No, he and his wife were thinking of having their kids enjoy the great outdoors this summer. So, we got to talking and we felt it would be a great idea if Mason and Mabel would spend the summer here."
It took Eda a moment to link faces to names but when she did a smile formed on her face. "Man, it's been years since we've seen those little rugrats. They must have gotten so big."
Stan chuckled, "yeah…soooo."
Eda rolled her eyes, "yes they can stay. You obviously want them to stay here."
"Great!" Stan cheered, wrapping his wife in a hug. "I'll call him back. They should be here in about two days when the summer starts."
Eda gave a grunt, but she couldn't help but smile at Stan's happy mood. The man always viewed family as important even if he has a hard time showing it at times. She felt she was the same but she will always deny it. 'I'm sure it won't be too bad. They can't be worst than King's antics or Titan forbid Hooty. This could be a good summer after all.'
(scene change)
Two days later a bus from the Speedy Beaver bus line rolled down the road before it stopped at the main bus stop in Gravity Falls. Once it stopped the doors open and soon two kids around the age of twelve stepped out carrying their bags and suitcases. After making sure they had everything the bus closed the doors and drove off once more. The twins glanced around, seeing a few paths and roads leading away from the bus stop but they were the only ones there. "So do we wait here?" the girl asked her brother.
"There wasn't any other bus stop in the route," the boy said, adjusting his brown hat. "I doubled checked before we got on."
"Maybe he's just a little late," the girl offered.
"Half right kid."
The twins turned to see Eda standing behind them, holding a wooden staff with a small wooden owl at the top. The twin took a step back, but this didn't bother Eda; in fact, she smiled at them. "Wow, you two grew up so much since the last time I saw you two. How was the ride here Mason, Mabel?"
"I prefer Dipper," the newly dubbed Dipper corrected. "And you are?"
"And how do you know us?" Mabel added, curious about the stranger.
Eda blinked before she shook her head at her mistake. "Sorry, I should have known you two wouldn't remember me. The name's Eda, I'm the fool that married you great uncle Stan."
The twins believed her since she not only knows their names and Stan's but also knew they would be here as well as they traveled for a long time. Mabel beamed, "Graunty Eda!"
Eda blinked at the title, not expecting this, "Graunty?"
"Short of Great-Aunt," Dipper explained.
Eda thought it over before she grinned, "I like it. Make sure you call Stan 'Grunkle' then. He'll love it, and if not it would still be entertaining."
"Deal!" Mabel agreed instantly since that was her plan anyway.
Dipper had a different question. "Where is Grunkle Stan? I thought he was supposed to pick us up."
"He was," Eda confirmed before she rolled her eyes, "but the big lug wanted to pull out all the stops to leave a great first impression once you get to his house. He asked me to pick you up. Maybe we'll be lucky and get there before he's ready."
Dipper glanced around to see there wasn't any sort of car or vehicle near Eda. "Please say we aren't walking there."
Eda blinked before she laughed, "oh don't worry kiddo, Graunty Eda has you two covered. Just place your bags close together."
The twins glanced at each other before they placed their luggage together. Eda used her index finger in a circular motion that had a light appear at the end and formed an actual circle, much to the surprise of the twins. As they were gapping, they looked at their luggage to see they were glowing and floating in the air. "Whaaa…" they both manage to say before turning back to Eda.
Eda looked very pleased with herself before she tossed her staff lightly into the air. The wings of the owl at the end of the staff grew in size and extended before the staff floated a few feet off the ground. "Okay you two, get on."
"B-b-but…how?" Dipper manages to get out.
"Are you magic?" Mabel asked as that was the only explanation that made sense to her.
Eda flipped her hair as a means of showing off, "kids I'm not only magic but the most powerful witch you will find here or where I'm from."
"I have like a million questions!" Dipper declared.
"Well save them because I'm not answering any until we get home," Eda informed him before she gestured to her staff. "And then only when I feel like it. Climb on two you."
Dipper and Mabel shared a look before they swung their legs over the staff like they were riding a bike with Mabel in front of Dipper. Eda took a seat behind them with her legs over the side and their bags floating behind them. With a quick slap to the staff, the three rocketed up into the air, the twins crying out at the sudden movement before they leveled out high above the town. Mabel and Dipper were in awe at the sight of not only the town but also the endless forest that surrounded the town. Eda chuckled at their expression. "You two have seen nothing yet. Let me be the first to welcome you to Gravity Falls."
The twins watched amazed at the scene, never seeing such a place before from their home town. Even if they did they never saw a view like this. As they admire the view Eda flew her staff further over the town and out into the woods more. The twins noticed they were on the move again and saw that besides the woods and a long dirt road there was nothing else around until they spotted a building. Eda landed on the dirt driveway/parking lot and allowed the kids to jump off the staff before she twirled it and it became a wimple staff again. Their bags floated down and landed softly beside them as Eda waved to the building. "here we are."
"The Mystery Shack?" Dipper read the large letters on the roof of the house aloud in confusion.
Eda gave a small chuckle, "yeah my husband turned his place into a tourist trap I think he called it."
"Welcome!" A loud-voiced called out, making the kids jump.
A poof of smoke appeared before them and when it cleared they saw the older man wearing a suit, fez, and an eyepatch over one eye. He took a dramatic pose with his arm and cane before he said, "To the Mystery Shack!"
The twins just stared, not sure how to react to this. Eda on the other hand gave him a deadpan look, "that's the best you could come up with?"
Stan slumped slightly at this and returned the look, "excuse me for being theatrical!" His face then broke into a grin as he looked over Dipper and Mabel. "Wow, you two have gotten so big. Come give your great uncle a hug!"
"Grunkle Stan!" Mabel cheered happily before she launched herself at the man.
Stan manages to drop to a knee and accepted the hug though he looked confused for a second afterward. "Grunkle?"
"Short for Great Uncle," Eda explained with her own grin. "I'm Graunty Eda."
"I like it!" Stan declared as he stood up after the hug. He turned to Dipper and grinned, "So how was the trip, Mason?"
"Dipper," the boy corrected. "And it was alright. What is this place?"
Stan was surprised by the nickname but shrugged it off. He grinned as he waved a hand behind him, "This is my house, the Mystery Shack. A small tourist trap to amaze and wow travelers during most of the year. In Winter it's closed down but the summer months are my busiest time."
He started to lead them to the door, "How about a quick tour?"
Mabel and Dipper glanced at each other before they shrugged and followed their great uncle while Eda trained behind them after she sent the luggage flying to a different part of the house. The twins watched as they pass the different attractions, many of them strange though Dipper recognized a few of them like a stuffed griffon (though he could see the stitching sticking out as well as fake spiders hanging from the mouth), to the jack-o-lope which Dipper also had a feeling was fake. He also saw some that were clearly a joke like the Sascrotch. After passing a few more Dipper couldn't help but ask, "are anything of these things real?"
"Kinda sorta," Stan admitted as he stopped by a display that held strange amulets and talismans. "Everything here is either made up, dead, not working magically, or are harmless. The trick is to hide the believable stuff with the fake so they don't know which is real or not." He points to the display. "Take these for example. Some are fake while others don't have much magic to really do much. And even if they did the effects are only if they keep wearing them, which I won't allow or harmless like making hair grow twice as fast."
"But you have real magic and no doubt artifacts," Dipper tried to argue. "Why not show it off to everyone instead of making all this fake stuff?"
Stan studied his great-nephew, realizing that this needed a serious responsible adult conversation rather than his usual self. He got down on one knee to look Dipper in the eyes, "look Dipper, I can get you are passionate about this. Heck, it reminds me of someone I knew a long time ago." He saw a ghost of his brother when he was Dipper's age and he smiled before giving a small chuckle. "You two would get along like best friends." He smiled for a moment before he shook his head to push the image away and focus. "But the point is that if everything was real then there is a big chance people would get hurt or would freak people out too much. That's why I keep the real magic to a minimum as well as keep it harmless or an easy fix. Like this thing."
The twins turned to a corner where a rug was placed with ropes tying the area off except for a small gap for a few people to walk through. Next to that was a sign that said:
[Mind Switching Rug! Step onto the rug, rub your feet and touch a friend to switch each other minds.]
[Warning: only two tourists may be on at a time to allow minds to easily be switched back. If more than one person is switch and tourists are having trouble returning their minds the Mystery Shack can fix the issue for a fee.]
The twins blinked at the sign while Stan chuckle, "I will admit that one is fun, even more, when they don't listen and have to pay Eda to fix them."
The twins looked to a smirking Eda. She noticed the looks and answered the unasked question, "yeah I can body swap people. It's a simple spell really. Want to try?"
"No thanks," they answered at once since neither sibling wanted to be in the other body. They did however hope that Eda's spell wouldn't be used as a form of punishment.
Stan chuckled before he continued with the tour, showing more fake and hidden magical attractions before Stan entered the archway at the end and showed a gift shop. "And after everything is all said is done, the tourist will go and buy some nick-nacks or whatever I happen to be selling at the time."
"Wendy they're here!"
"I see them, dude."
The twins turned towards the two new people waiting in the gift shop. One is a large young adult male wearing an oversized green shirt with a question mark and matching cap. He was beaming at them and Mabel was reminded of a happy hairless gerbil. The other is a tall girl about fifteen with long red hair with black streaks going through it wearing a green flannel shirt and wool hat on her head. The man looked exchanged while the girl, which the twins could agree looked very cool, smirked at them. Stan grinned and waved towards them, "and these two work for us. This is Soos, he's the shack's, handyman. He helps repair this place, makes sure it still standing, and helps me make new attractions when I need to."
"What's up, dudes?" Soos asked as he held a fist out to the twins who returned the fist bump.
Stan rolled his eyes but had a grin, happy that Soos was bonding with the kids nicely. "And this is Wendy, she works the gift shop officially but she mostly works for Eda on jobs in both worlds."
"Worlds?" Dipper echoed, "You make it sound like Eda lived in another plain of existence."
Eda smacked Stan's shoulder lightly and jokingly said "way to spoil the surprise." She turned back to the twins "I was gonna surprise you two after you settled in for a few days. But yeah I've from a place called the Boiling Isles which is located in another dimension. I'll show you two later I promise."
"Trust me," Wendy said with a small grin. "It's gonna blow your mind being there for the first time."
"But enough of that," Stan said as he opens a door labeled "Employees Only" and showed them it leads to an almost normal living room. "This is where Eda and I live when we're closed. You two will be sleeping upstairs. Soos already set up some beds for you two."
"It's totally rad dude," Soos said as the twins followed the handyman up the stairs. "I had to use the attic since it has a ton of room and a grew view from the window."
The twins followed Soos to the top of the stairs and down the hall before opening the door and let them inside. The twins saw the room was mostly bare with some beds on either side of the room with a nightstand between them and a window over it. The room also had an empty bookshelf, some dressers to put their things away as well as a closet. Mabel took no time claiming her bed on one side of the room and started to place her posters she took from her on the wall by her bed. "This is amazing!" She declared after placing several posters up. "Check out these splinters I'm getting."
Dipper was studying the room more and was ignoring his twin. He did finally turn to his bed and blinked in surprise, "there's a goat on my bed."
Indeed a simple brown goat bleated as it stood on top of the second bed that was left for Dipper. Mabel smiled, noticing it for the first time, and walked over to it. "Hello, new friend!"
The goat didn't reply but turned towards Mabel and bite into the sleeve of her sweater and started to chew. Mabel took this very well as she laughed, "why yes you can keep chewing on my sweater."
"Gompers, stop that. And you know you are to stay outside," Eda said sternly as she walked into the room.
The goat released Mabel and skipped out the door with another bleat. Eda just sighed as she watched it leave. Mabel skipped over to her and asked, "Is that your pet?"
Eda scoffed, "please that thing's been around as far as Stan can remember and won't leave. I just don't care enough to use magic to get rid of it." She smiled down at them, "so how are you two handling all of this?"
"It's fun and we've only been here less than an hour!" Mabel declared happily before going back to her side and kept decorating.
"Not what I was expecting," Dipper admitted as he placed his suitcase on the bed.
Eda patted his head, "I know it isn't. But Stan's been excited to have you two over for the summer. We aren't the most responsible adults but if there is anything you want to talk to us about, we're going to be there to listen." She ruffled his head/hat before heading out once more, "I'll leave you two to unpack and relax. When you are up for it, Soos wants to show you two around."
Dipper watched Eda leave and couldn't help but have a small smile on his face before he went to unpack all that he brought with him.
(Scene change)
The twins have been in Gravity Falls for a few days and slowly getting used to the place. The summer tourist season seems to have started as Stan was giving several tours a day and having them spend more money in the gift shop. During some of the busier rushes, he had Dipper and Mabel help out in the Gift Shop much to Dipper's annoyance. Mabel didn't seem to mind as much as she had her mind on another goal. Speaking of which Mabel was in the Gift Shop, hiding behind a stand that held bobbleheads of Stan, peeking over the top at someone.
"He's looking at it," Mabel said as she looked at a boy around her age with great intensity, the boy in question didn't have anything that really stood out, other than a card.
"Do you like me: Yes, Definitely, Absolutely?" The random boy read as he was confused at the choices.
"I rigged it," Mabel admitted happily.
Dipper, who was behind her cleaning a display, heard this and rolled his eyes. "Mabel, I know you're in that boy crazy stage, emphasis on crazy, but do you have to flirt with every guy you meet?"
He wasn't wrong in his opinion as Mabel had three other attempts at flirting with some of the boys in Gravity Falls. One she accidentally knocked into a display of postcards in the Gift Shop, one she tried to talk about his pet turtle he had with him, and one older boy working a job trying to sell mattresses dressed up as a king. Mabel ending up scaring him as she snuck up behind him through some tied up balloons.
Mabel wasn't discouraged by her past failings and turned to Dipper. "Come on, this is the first chance to get an epic summer romance, and I wouldn't be surprised if the man of my dreams walked into the room right now."
She turned towards the open doorway where the tour ends into the gift shop as if expecting someone to come through. Someone did but in an act like if the universe was pranking her, Grunkle Stan walked in with a few signs. Mabel blanched as Dipper decided to chuckle a bit at the very good timing of Stan.
"Okay, I need some volunteers to post these signs in the spooky part of the forest," Stan said, holding several wooden signs up for the job.
The twins were quick to say, "not it!" before they heard Soos, who was on a stepstool placing a new shelf into the wall, call out, "Also not it."
Stan rolled his eyes at his handyman, "I didn't ask you, Soos."
He turned to Wendy who was next to Eda who held up a large brown sack. "Wendy?"
"Sorry boss," Wendy said as she jerked her thumb to Eda, "but Eda needs my help with her stand in the Isles."
"We're going to be making a ton of Snails today," Eda agreed with a wide grin. "The mini-TV that Soos fixed alone will bring us money. Thanks again for that Soos."
Soos beamed after stepping off the stepstool and gave her the thumbs up, "Not a problem Mrs. Pines."
The twins have yet to go to the Boiling Isles but were excited for when Graunty Eda would take them there. They did learn that Eda has two businesses she uses to gain money, a currency called Snails. One was Eda made and sold potions to the witches on the Boiling Isles. She also had a one room in the Shack to make her potions with the warning/threat of grounding them for the rest of the summer and convincing their parents to add more if they entered that room without her or her permission. Seeing how serious she was when she delivered that warning, the twins decided to not push their luck and stayed away from that room.
The other way Eda earned Snails was running stands where she sold 'Human Treasures' which was more often than not junk found in the human world. She was just as much of a conman as her husband and from what Wendy told them she was good at it.
Stan took this in strides with one person unable to do the job he needed, "very well, ennie, meenie, miney, you."
He pointed towards Dipper at the end who protested this. "Wait, why do I have to go? Besides, whenever I go in there I feel like I'm being watched. Look, my mosquito bites are even spelling out 'beware'."
Dipper showed the mosquito bites in question. But when Stan looked at them he pointed something out, "That says bewarb." Dipper looked at the claim Stan made, and it was true that it did indeed spell bewarb.
Eda rolled her eyes as she used her key to open the portal, which made Dipper and Mabel gap in amazement. "These suckers can't spell anything. But luckily they are as harmless as normal mosquitos. They aren't as bad as the ones on the Boiling Isles."
"Don't mosquitos spread diseases and kill like a lot of people every year?" Soos asked.
Edda scoffed at this, "yeah Earth is lucky that is 'all' that happens. But if you're worried about the wood Dipper," she paused to make a magic circle in the air and Dipper glowed for a second much to his surprise. "There, now anything dangerous in the wood won't notice you. Just for today at least but you know you won't always that so you will have to face the wood eventually. Well, we're off. See you guys when we get back."
They walked through the door before it closed up behind them and vanished in thin air. Seeing that he didn't have a choice, Dipper took the signs hammer, and nails before heading off into the wood. He was thankful however for the spell Graunty Eda and it did make him feel safer.
(scene change)
"Stupid uncle," Dipper muttered to himself annoyed as he hammered a new sign into a tree. "Who would even see these signs anyways?"
Dipper placed another nail to a new tree and hit it with the hammer. However, to his surprise, the nail didn't go in and the sound of metal clanging was heard. "Huh?" Dipper muttered before he lowered the nail and tapped the side of the tree twice with the hammer. The tree clanged again and Dipper dropped the hammer. He ran his hand onto the tree and felt it was metal and cold to the touch. He ran his hand to try and figure this out before his hand caught the edge of a door. When he opens it, he found a small compartment that held a large amount of dust and cobwebs. In the center was some sort of control box with several switches. Interested peeked, Dipper flipped one of the switches but nothing happened. He flipped the second one and he heard something opening behind him. He turned to see the ground opened up and revealed a secret door. Dipper walked over and peeked inside to see more dust and cobwebs but also a book. Dipper lifted it out and brushed the dust off. The book held no title but showed a large golden hand in the center with the number '3' in the center.
Curious about the book Dipper opens it up and started to read. "It's hard to believe it's been six years since began studying the strange and wondrous secrets of Gravity Falls, Oregon." Dipper was excited seeing he wasn't crazy after all. Dipper flipped through the pages to see detailed entries and illustrations of different creatures and discoveries, wondering if Graunty Eda knew anything about these. Flipping to a later entry Dipper noticed a change in the writing style as if rushed. "Unfortunately, my suspicions have been confirmed. I'm being watched. I must hide this book before he finds it. Remember: in Gravity Falls there is no one you can trust."
Dipper closed the book concern as the last three words were underlined. "No one you can trust?" He wondered what has happened to the author and what he meant but his thoughts were interrupted. "Hello!"
Dipper screamed and turned to see his sister looking over the fallen tree he was leaning against to read. "Mabel! Don't do that." Dipper scowled.
"What you got their bro-bro?" Mabel asked not listening.
"Nothing!" Dipper quickly said hiding the book behind his back.
"Nothing!" Mabel mocked in the same before she blew a raspberry. "Like you're not going to tell me."
Dipper was quiet, looking at his twin before he noticed a goat was trying to nibble off the book. He sighed and held the book where she can see it. "Let's go somewhere more private."
(scene change)
Dipper and Mabel returned to the Shack and went into the empty living room where Dipper paced around while examining the Journal and telling Mabel everything. "I knew something was up about this place even if Grunkle Stan and Graunty Eda didn't want to tell us. but according to this book, Gravity Falls has this secret dark side."
"Whoa," Mabel said, amazed as well, "shut up!"
"And get this," Dipper went on, "after a certain point the pages just stopped, like the guy who writing it mysteriously disappeared." He was cut from his musing by the ringing of the doorbell. "Who's that?"
"Welp time to spill the beans," Mabel said before she poked an empty can of beans over, with a giggle of her pun "beans. This girl's got a date."
Mabel cheered and fell back onto the chair in her excitement. Dipper, however, had a different reaction "let me get this straight; in the half-hour, I was gone you already found a boyfriend?"
"What can I say" Mabel started "guess I'm just…irresistible!" The doorbell then rang again and Mabel ran off to get it.
Dipper just decided to get back to reading the journal, more interested in the research and how close it is to the truth. He sat down in the lazy-boy, barely noticed his great uncle Stan walking into the room with a can of soda in hand. "What ya reading there slick?"
Dipper was taken by surprise before he hid the journal and grabbed a nearby magazine. Dipper didn't plan on showing his Grunkle anything from the journal any time soon. "Oh I was catching up on," he looked at the magazine he grabbed and was surprised by the title, "Gold Chain for Old Men magazine?"
"That's a good issue" Stan explained taking a sip of his soda.
"Hey Family!" Mabel cried getting their attention. "Say hello to my new boyfriend!"
Mabel reappeared with a boy they have never seen before. He had pasty skin, was wearing a black hoodie with what looked like part of a branch sticking out of it, and had a red substance on his cheek.
"S'up?" The boy said with a sort of horse tone voice, giving a small wave.
"Hey," Dipper greet, staring at the boy in surprise.
"How's it hanging?" Grunkle Stan asked, narrowing his eyes slightly at the boy.
"We meet in the cemetery. He's so deep," Mabel explained as she held her boyfriend's arm, finding it surprising the small amount of muscles he had. "Little muscle there…what a surprise.
"So what's your name?" Dipper asked, suspicious of the teen.
"Um, normal...man!" the teen said, looking slightly started and nervous.
"He means Norman." Mabel corrected.
Dipper, however, looked at the slightly dripping red stain on his cheek. "Are you bleeding Norman?"
Norman glanced at the dripping spot before he said, "It's jam."
Mabel gasped, "I love jam! Look at this!"
"So you wanna go hold hands or whatever?" Norman asked in the same tone as when he first talked.
"Oh my goodness," Mabel said, waving her hand in her face to calm herself. "Don't wait up!" Mabel declared before she ran off with Norman to follow behind her. Norman gave them a clicking gun sign before he slammed into the wall before following after Mabel.
Dipper narrowed his eyes, knowing something was off about Norman, and was determined to find out.
He went upstairs to consult the journal in private to see if it had any clues. After studying the pages he found something. "Known for their pasty skin and bad attitudes, these creatures are often confused for…teenagers! Beware of Gravity Falls nefarious undead!" Dipper saw the picture was an exact, or at least near-exact copy, of Norman. Even as he looked at the picture he imagined Norman replacing the image saying 'S'up'. This causes Dipper to scream out in panic. "Zombie!"
(Scene Change)
Dipper's yell had echoed a bit with Stan in the bathroom and hearing it, "Did I hear somebody say crombie? Crombie? Is that even a word?" Stan then stared into the mirror, "You're losing your mind."
(Scene Change)
Dipper panicked and looked outside to see Norman shambling closer towards Mabel, who was sitting coyly on the bench. Dipper screamed, ready to try and want Mabel but it was unneeded as Norman backed away after grabbing her to show he just gave the girl a necklace of daisies. Dipper breathed a sigh of relief before he started to focus again. He stepped away from the window to think. "Is my sister really dating a zombie? Or am I going nuts?"
"It's a dilemma to be sure."
Dipper jumped only to see Soos replacing a lightbulb.
"Soos, you've seen Mabel's boyfriend; he's got to be a zombie, right?"
Soos hummed and tabbed his chin before he asked, "How many brains did you see the guy eat?"
Dipper slumped his shoulders, "Zero."
Soos stepped off his step ladder and said, "look, dude, I believe you. I'm always noticing some weird stuff in this town when it's not from Mrs. Pine's home. Like the mailman; pretty sure that dude's a werewolf."
(flashback)
Soos was sitting on a bench in the park eating his lunch when the mailman walked on by. He was a large built man with a massive beard and mustache as well as hair peeking from his sleeves and collar. Soos narrowed his eyes before he scooched over on the bench before dragging his paper bagged lunch with him.
(flashback ends)
Soos focused back on Dipper to help him, "but you gotta have evidence. Otherwise, people will be thinking you're a great coo-coo clock."
Dipper sighed, "as always Soos, you're right."
"My wisdom is both a blessing and a curse" Soos explained with a knowing look on his face.
"Soos! The portable toilet is clogged again!" Stan yelled from somewhere downstairs.
"I am needed elsewhere," Soos said adjusted his hat. Soos then started to walk backward dramatically until he was out of the room.
Dipper however looked determined. He knew his sister was in trouble and he was going to prove it.
(scene change)
The next day Mabel was getting ready for a new date with Norman. Unbeknownst to her, Dipper had followed them and spying in order to gather evidence to see if Norman was a zombie or not. He watched as Norman was always stiff and slow to react to things; such as when he was hit in the head with a Frisbee Mabel threw and he just fell forward a few seconds later. He was also unsteady as he moves such as a few times he walks and even does crazy things like break through a window to open the door from the other side to allow Mabel to get into a diner. However, it was seeing Norman fall into a grave and pop out again did Dipper seem to be convinced.
So the next day Mabel was getting ready for a new date. Dipper walked in to finally talked to her, "Mabel we need to talk about Norman."
"Isn't he the best?" Mabel asked turning around, "look at this smooch mark he gave me."
Mabel turned her head to show a large pink circle mark on her cheek. Dipper jumped, a small gasp escaping from his lips. Mabel, however, laughed, "gullible. It's was an accident with the leaf blower."
(flashback)
"Kissing practice!" Mabel cried as she turns the leaf blower on to suck and place a large photo with the mouth cut out over the hole where it stuck. Mabel leaned over to kiss the 'mouth' but the leaf blower however sucked the photo inside the machine, leaving Mabel expose to also get sucked into the machine tube. She struggled and smacked the leaf blower as her mouth was covered to prevent her from calling for help.
(Flashback ends)
"That was fun," Mabel mused at the memory.
"No Mabel listen," Dipper said to get her to focus. "I'm trying to tell you that Norman is not what he seems."
Dipper pulled out the journal and Mabel gasped, "you think he's a vampire." Mabel then gave a small squeal, "that would be so awesome."
"Guess again sister," Dipper said before he opens the book and showed her the page "Sha-bam!"
Mabel cried out, a tongue sticking out. However, it was on the page for gnomes instead of what Dipper intended. But Dipper quickly realized he was on the wrong page. "Oh I'm sorry," he flipped to the correct page, "Sha-bam!"
"A zombie?" Mabel asked not amused, "That's not funny Dipper."
"I'm not joking," Dipper explained putting away the journal. "It all adds up. The bleeding, the limp. He never blinks! Have you ever noticed that?"
"Maybe he's blinking when you're blinking?" Mabel suggested.
"Mabel remember what the book said about Gravity Falls?" Dipper asked. "Trust no one."
"What about me huh? Why can't you trust me?" Mabel asked seriously, though any seriousness was ruined when she added large star earnings with a small "beep-bop."
"Mabel!" Dipper said grabbing his twin's shoulders and shook her, "he's going to eat your brains!"
However, Mabel had enough, "Dipper listen to me. Norman and I are going on a date at five o clock, and I'm going to be adorable," here she pokes Dipper in the chest forcefully causing him to step back, "And he's going to be dreamy," Another poke this time causing him to get out of the room. "and I'm not going to let you ruin it with one of your crazy conspiracies!" and with this she slammed the door, ending the conversation.
Dipper just sighed and sat down against the door, "What am I going to do?"
Soon the time for Mabel's date came around and Mabel was racing towards the door. She only paused when Eda stopped her for a moment to give a quick talk, telling the young girl to be careful. Mabel assured her as best she good before she was allowed to leave.
Mabel runs down the stairs to answer the door and there stood Norman once more. "Hey Norman," Mabel greeted before she pulled at her sweater, "how do I look?"
Her sweater was bright purple with a lot of glitter with a cat's face in the middle with the words "Meow Wow" encircling it. Norman looked at her sweater before he declared in his normal tone "Shiny."
Mabel giggled and held his hand, "Oh Norman, you know just what to say."
Dipper watched them go walk off before the boy sighed. He walked into the living room and sat on the chair, looking at the camera he used to record his findings. As he replayed the tape he sighed "Maybe Soos's right, I don't have any real evidence. I guess I was just paranoid...Wait What!?"
It was then that Dipper noticed something in one part of the video: Norman's hand fell off and he reattached it. Dipper had to jump up as he had proof! "Ah-ha! He is a zombie!" he then realized what this meant. "Oh no, Mabel!"
Dipper ran out of the house, calling for his uncle or aunt for help. He couldn't find Eda and feared she had already left for the Boiling Isles. He found that Stan was in the middle of the tour, taking the group outside to the front of the gift shop. He presented his newest attraction. "And here we have 'rock that looks like a face' rock. The rock that looks like a face." Stan said to them, showing the rock with the disturbing or derpy looking face carved into it. this spawned many questions from the tourist, wanting to know whether it is a face or a rock.
"Grunkle Stan! Grunkle Stan!" Dipper tried to call over the tourist group, but the elder man didn't seem to hear him.
In fact, he was getting even annoyed by the tourist. "For the fifth time, it's not an actual face!"
Seeing this was going no way Dipper would get his uncle's attention, he saw that Wendy was driving up in the Mystery Shack golf cart. "Wendy!" Dipper called up, running up to her as she got out, "I need to borrow the golf cart so I can save my sister from a zombie!"
Wendy gave him a smirk before she held up the keys and dropped them into his hand. "Try not to hit any pedestrians," she said as she walked off.
Dipper blinked at how easy that was before he jumped into the cart and started the engine. He backed a bit before running into Soos who handed him a shovel.
"This is for the zombies. And this is in case you see a piñata." Soos also handed Dipper a bat, which confused the boy, but he figured it could still be useful.
"Thanks, Soos." Dipper drove off at full speed to enter the woods where his sister was.
(scene change)
"Finally, we're alone," Mabel said after a short walk with Norman. The pair had walked deeper and deeper into the woods, both just enjoying each other's company.
"Yes, alone," Norman said glancing at her before looking ahead again.
After they stopped in a clearing Norman spoke, in a serious yet nervous pitch added to his tone. "Look, Mabel, now that we've known each other, there's something I gotta tell you."
"You can tell me anything Norman" Mabel did say to confined in him. Mentally however she had a different thought process. 'Please be a vampire! Please be a vampire!'
Norman had a hand in the zipper of his hoody "Okay, just don't freak out. Keep an open mind."
As Norman unzipped the hoody, Mabel's eyes went wide before the teen pulled the clothes off of him. But then Mabel saw the truth…he was a bunch of Gnomes stacked on top of each other with fake arms and hands. "Is this weird? Is this too weird? Do you need to sit down?" the top gnome that was Norman's head asked him in a more normal voice.
All Mabel could do was gape at them, unable to comprehend what she is seeing.
"Right, I'll explain," the top gnome stated before clapping his hands. "So, we're Gnomes. First off, get that out of the way." The gnome started some introductions "Anyway, I'm Jeff, and this Carson, Steve, Jason, and…" Jeff paused before he admitted, "I'm sorry, I always forget your name."
"Schmebulok" the last gnome informed him.
Jeff snapped his fingers "Schmebulok, yes. Anyway, long story short, us Gnomes have been looking for a new Gnome queen. Right guys?" The other Gnomes chanted queen for a bit while making grabby hands.
"So, what do you say?" Jeff asked as he tapped the head of one of the gnomes. One gnome 'leg' bent as if taking a knee while the other 'arm' pulled a ring case out. "Will you join us in holy matrignomy, matri-matrimony? Blargh, I can't talk today." The box opens to show a crystal ring, not an expensive crystal, like an adamant stone like a diamond or rubies, but a simple crystal that anyone could've picked up in the forest.
Mabel winced and tried to let them down gently "look, I'm sorry guys. You're really sweet, but I'm a girl, and you're Gnomes and it's like 'what?'. Yikes."
The gnomes looked at one another before they slumped down, "We understand. We'll never forget you, Mabel." Jeff said getting Mabel to smile at the fact that Jeff was taking it so well, but then it fell when he added, "Because we're going to kidnap you."
"Huh?" was all Mabel could say before the gnomes all jumped at her, causing the girl to scream.
(scene change)
He drove through the woods and down a hill, following the sounds until he entered a thicket with several thick trees behind them. He saw Mabel surrounded by a bunch of small men in red pointy hats as they tried to tie her down. Jeff was standing on a rock to overlook everything. "the more you struggle the more awkward this will be for everybody." He called out over Mabel before he pinched the bridge of his nose "Okay, just hold her arm, Steve."
Dipper watched stunned as one man was biting onto Mabel's sweater as she shook him off and she punched it knocking the gnome into the wall. The gnome was able to get up but then bent over and started to vomit a rainbow. "What the heck is going on here!?" Dipper cried out hoping to get an explanation.
"Dipper!" Mabel called out, able to sit up for a second before the gnomes tried to pounce on her "Norman turned out to be a bunch of gnomes! And their total jerks!" Mabel jerked as her hair was pulled backward "Hair! Hair! Hair!"
"Gnomes?" Dipper said getting the journal out, "I was way off." He opens to the right page and started to read. "Gnomes: Little men of Gravity Falls forests. Weakness…unknown."
He was about to ask Wendy if she knew anything about them when he looked up to see Mabel was caught and tied to the ground much to her annoyance. He stepped forward and confronted them, "Hey! Let go of my sister!"
Jeff nearly "Oh hey there," he chuckled nervously "This is all just a big misunderstanding. You see your sister is not in danger. She's just going to marry all one-thousand of us and become our gnome queen for all eternality." He turned to Mabel, "Isn't that right honey?"
"You guys are all butt-faces!" Mabel called out before another gnome covered her mouth with her hand.
"Give her back or else," Dipper warned, pointing a shovel at Jeff.
Jeff narrowed his eyes at him. "You think you can stop us alone boy? You don't know what we are capable of. The Gnomes are a powerful race. Do not…
Dipper however had enough as he took the shovel, scooped Jeff up, and tossed him to the side. Dipper then ran forward, pushed the other gnomes out of the way, and cut through the cords trapping Mabel. Once free Mabel got up and ran with Dipper to the golf cart and drove away.
"He's getting away with our queen!" Jeff cried getting back up, "No! No! No!"
But Dipper and Mabel have already driven off. Jeff was really angry now. "You messed with the wrong creature boy. Gnomes of the forest…. assemble!"
Out of the tree, the roots, and other hiding places more and more gnomes came by the hundreds. They all gathered around and started to come together and form something.
Outside in the sun again Dipper was driving relax while Mabel was worried. "Hurry before they come after us," Mabel said.
"Relax," Dipper said calmly "You see their little legs? Those suckers are tiny."
However, the ground shook causing Dipper to stop the cart. Now they heard the sound of stomping and a great big shadow appeared over them. they turned to see the gnomes all amassed together to form a giant evil gnome. Mabel would admit later that she thought it looked like an evil Santa Claus.
Dipper slammed his foot on the gas pedal and force the cart to move at top speeds. The Gnometron followed after them, slamming its fist into the ground and trying to swipe the cart to the side. After gaining a bit of distance the Gnometron pulled some of the gnomes free and tossed them at the cart. Many landed on the top and bite and ripped the canopy. More tried to jump down but the twins hit them before they got too close.
The gnome known as Schmebulok landed behind Dipper and tried to grab him. But Dipper caught the gnome without even looking at him and smacked the creature to the front of the steering wheel. The gnome moaned a "Schmebulok" in pain before Dipper threw him off the cart. One gnome landed in front of them on the hood and dove at Dipper, catching him by surprise and started to scratch his face.
"I'll save you Dipper!" Mabel called out before she punched the gnome, which also gets hit as well before one final hit knocked the gnome free and it fell to the side of the road, with Dipper's brown hat cramped in its teeth.
"Thanks, Mabel," Dipper muttered, a bit dizzy before he shook himself to clear his head.
The Gnometron had enough and grabbed a tree and ripped it from the earth. With the new weapon, the monster threw the whole tree at them, sailing over and crashing in front of them, forcing Dipper to swerve to avoid it. the cart tipped over and slid out of the woods before stopping right next to the Mystery Shack.
"Where's Grunkle Stan and Graunty Eda!? They can help!" Mabel wanted to get help from their relatives, seeing their experience might be of good help.
(Scene Break)
Eda was nowhere to be found while Grunkle Stan was completely ignorant of the events just outside his window as he had an object in his hand to show to the last bunch of tourists.
"Behold the world's most distracting object! Just try to look away." He said as he was getting mesmerized by the swirling pattern alongside the paying customers who just mesmerized by it. "Now I can't remember what I was talking about."
(Scene Break)
"Mabel, marry us before we do something crazy!" Jeff said as the two backed off from the approaching mass of gnomes.
"Stay back!" Dipper shouts as he threw the shovel at the Gnometron in a last-ditch attempt. The attack was pretty much ineffective as the Gnometron grabbed the shovel and smashed it into the ground. "There's gotta be another way!"
"I got to do it."
Dipper gasped in disbelief, "Mabel, don't do this. Are you crazy?"
"Trust me," Mabel told him.
"What?"
"Dipper for once please, just trust me."
Dipper looks to his sister then the Gnometron waiting for them. Glancing back at his sister once more Dipper finally took a step aside to show he was leaving it to her. Mabel smiled before she turned to the Gnometron. "Alright Jeff," Mabel said taking a step forward, "I'll marry you."
"Hot dog!" Jeff declared, making the Gnometron stomp a foot and pumped a fist as he cheered. Slowly he started to climb down the Gnometron, leaving it immobile now that no one was 'driving' it. Once on the ground, he walked over before he presented the ring with the crystal stone from before. Mabel allowed him to slip it on her ring finger. "Bada-bing, bada-bam!" Jeff cheered at his victory, "Now let's get you back into the forest honey."
Jeff took a step before Mabel said something that stopped him in his tracks. "You may now kiss the bride."
Jeff blinked before he grinned. "Well, don't mind if I do." Jeff then turned and puckered his lips for the kiss he was promised.
Dipper was nervous when Mabel at first leaned down to give the kiss before he reached behind her and pulled out the leaf blower which she turned on threatening to suck a surprised Jeff. "That's for lying to me!" Mabel then pulled the blower more, swallowing Jeff's feet as she spoke.
"That's for breaking my heart!" She really didn't like the fact that Jeff and his Gnomes were trying to force her into a marriage.
Mabel then aimed the Gnometron with the leaf blower, "And this is for messing with my brother!"
The Gnometron gasped surprised at the fact she was all but aiming a weapon at it. Mabel then smirked to her brother, "Wanna do the honors?"
"On three: 1, 2, 3!" The twins finished at the same time and shot Jeff at the Gnometron. The beast burst apart into the thousands of gnomes while Jeff was sent sailing off beyond their sight of the forest. The Gnometron fell apart from the force, the gnome all tired and in a panic without a leader.
One Gnome was unlucky enough to get caught in one of those plastic rings that hold drinks and was taken off by the Gompers. Mabel also took off and threw the ring that Jeff gave her, not wanting to have the marriage band on her ring finger any longer.
(Scene Break)
Stan was busy counting the day's income with Eda by his side as Dipper and Mabel entered the gift shop of the Mystery Shack, looking tired. They manage to make up from their fight from before and happy that it all worked out in the end. Stan noticed them, "geez, you two get hit by a bus or something?"
He laughed at this but the twins just gave him deadpan looks at the joke. Eda however raised a brow, "so what happened to Norman?"
Mabel winced, not wanting to be reminded of that. "Let's just say he wasn't what I thought he was."
"Was he a vampire?" Stan asked, almost eagerly. "A vampire or a witch?"
The twins shared a glance, debating if they should tell them or not. They decided that since they knew magic and the supernatural was real they could at least tell the truth and they would believe them. "I wish he was a vampire," Mabel finally said. "It turns out that Norman was a bunch of gnomes."
"Gnomes?" the two adults said, Stan, looking alarmed while Eda stunned let gleeful.
Then the twins were surprised while Stan seems to slump, disgruntled while Eda pumped her fist in victory. "Ha! Pay up!"
"Yeah, yeah," Stan muttered before he picked a fifty from the pile of money and handed it to her. Eda grinned and swiped it before he could change his mind.
"Wait-wait-wait!" Dipper said, holding his hands up to them. "What's all this?"
Stan sighed before answering. "We knew Norman wasn't a kid or something, so we had a bet to see what he was. I thought he was either a vampire or a witch while Eda betted that it was one of the smaller or weaker creatures hiding in the woods."
"Do be a sore loser hon," Eda advised as she slipped the money into her dress.
"How long?" Dipper asked, one eye twitching slightly as he thought he was alone in his suspicions.
"Since Stan first saw him and then told me," Eda answered truthfully.
"Then why did you guys just let us leave like that?" Mabel asked. "I didn't believe Dipper and I regretted it. But if all of you were there then I might be more willing to believe you…maybe."
Eda gained a kind look before she walked around the counter and knelt before the twins. "Kids, I'm going to be blunt here."
"Aren't you always?" Stan interrupted with a joking grin.
"Shut it, Stan!" Eda snapped for a moment before going back to the twins. "There's no such thing as a painless lesson. The world isn't always going to be a nice place, either here or the Boiling Isles. It is peaceful most of the time but every city, town, and even dimension have their own monsters that can ruin anyone's day. Stan and I are going to be here to help you two when you need it but we're not always going to be there. You sometimes have to stand on your own two feet and for what you believe in. We let you two go through this misadventure with us being your safety nets." Here she stands up and grins at them. "Now look at you two, just went through a little adventure and you both learned something important from it. I'm proud of you two rugrats."
"Me too," Stan said before waving a hand to the shop. "So why don't you two take an item from the gift shop? A gift from us."
That perked the two up as they looked around. Dipper decided to replace his hat, as he was not going into Gnome turf without a good reason. So he decided on a blue and white baseball cap that had a pine tree on the front. He checked himself in a small mirror and liked how it looked.
Mabel dug through a chest and found what she wanted. "And I will have a...grappling hook!" Mabel spun around a bit before holding the grappling hook above her head, like a certain video game character.
"Wouldn't you like a doll, do you still play with dolls?" Stan asked, not recalling where he had that or why it was in the shop.
She fired the grappling hook, and possibly destroyed some merchandise by accident. "Grappling hook!" she declared happily.
Stan just smiled while Eda fixed the items with magic. "Fair enough."
After Mabel got down the twins headed inside so they can wash up for dinner and then bed. Before they went through the door, Eda snapped her fingers. "Oh yeah before I forget!"
The twins stopped as Eda made a magic circle before Mabel was covered by an aura before it popped off like a balloon. "I should take that off," Eda said after she finished.
"What was that?" Dipper asked while Mabel checked all over to see if any more magic was on her.
"My safety net," Eda replied with a grin. "Just in case whoever he is got any funny ideas and did something more than just a hug or hand-holding."
"So, if Jeff really did try to kiss me…?" Mabel asked, wondering if she would want to see the result of the spell.
Eda gave a fierce grin with her answer. "Let's just say that kissing a beartrap would have been a much better experience."
The twins shared a look and laughed as they imagine what the spell would do to Jeff. They left the adults in the shop who was just smiling, happy they were alright. "They are good kids," Eda mused.
Stan nodded, "I have a feeling this will be a summer none of us will ever forget."
Eda nodded in full agreement and knew the kids would feel the same way too. But she was honestly looking forward to it.
And we are done. The changes are subtle so far and I wonder how many you can spy and any idea of what can happen next. But what do you all think? Will this be a hit or am I insane for even trying? Leave a review and tell me what you all think. Until next time.
