Chapter 2

~After around 4 months~

Sally was very ecstatic today. Her every step had a bounce of excitement in it. She was humming Percy's favourite lullaby today even when cleaning the house. Today turned out to be a very important day for her. After all her son had spoken his first word today. And as cherry on top of the cake, the word was 'mum'.

The feeling when he called her mum was exhilarating to Sally. We all have that one thing, which is the most precious to us, it's something we can never give up on, something we cherish, something we look forward to be with our entire lives. For some it may be a memory or for others a materialistic possession, but for Sally it was Percy. He was the sole purpose of her life. Sally never wanted to let him feel like he wasn't her own. He was her pride and joy, he was the reason she was still living and hadn't given up. Oh and if you hadn't realised so far, she had started calling him Percy.

The first few months for Sally had been tough in terms of money. Her job at the candy store didn't earn her much and Sally wasn't used to the concept of saving. She was in her primes and saving and managing money not only for herself but now for Percy too was a foreign concept to her but with time Sally changed. She matured. She changed from an insecure girl who couldn't save money to a very motherly figure who would do anything to provide for her young one. Although she had to work a little harder to make the ends meet, she never regretted her choice of adopting Perseus.

Talking about Perseus, although the little boy had survived miraculously and healed quite better than what the doctors expected, some injuries had left life time effects on his body. Most of his frail body had healed but his small legs didn't. He had some serious nervous tissue damage in his legs, condemning him permanently to a wheelchair.

Sally was distraught, she tried to get him the best medical facilities she could afford. But alas, miracles also have their limits. Doctors had declared that they could do nothing for legs anymore and he would never be able to feel anything below his waist line, which meant he could never use his legs. And he would be crippled for life.

Sally had realised what this meant. This meant that she would never be able to hold his little fingers and teach him how to walk. She would never be able to play catch with him. Her son wouldn't be able to go outside to play with others. Her son would not be able to experience outdoor sports and most importantly she wouldn't be able to take her son to swim with her on her favourite beach in Montauk.

Despite all that, Sally had vowed to herself that she wouldn't let him be sad over it when he grew up. She would make him follow his passion and achieve whatever he wanted. She wouldn't let his life be wasted only because he was handicapped. She would be a very supportive mother.

~When Percy has finally turned 5 years old~

It was a bright sunny day outside. The perfect weather for a perfect day. Speaking of the day, it was Percy's 5th birthday. The day was going as planned so far. Sally had arranged a big picnic trip to Montauk for them, wanting Percy to experience a beach for the first time in his life.
Sally was a big fan of beaches, she loved the water. She felt a unique sense of peace and calm from it, but she guessed that was because of her pervious lover. Even though she detested Poseidon now, that calmness she felt from the sea didn't go away. Regardless of her bitter feelings towards her ex-lover, she wasn't going to let Percy be depraved of feeling the salty water upon his skin.

" Mom! when are we going to leave. I want to get there fast. I am a big boy now, I am five years old." Came a excited voice from behind her, pausing her in packing up the last sandwiches in the picnic basket she had spent all night preparing. She could sense Percy bubbling with excitement. She turned and smiled brightly at him.

"Yes Percyyy, our picnic basket is almost ready. Lets get our stuff in the car, but wait.. before that.. mom has a little gift for you" She replied. "A GIFT?! Yayyy" Sally chuckled at seeing her son's reaction. She put her hands in her pockets and pulled out a small locket from her pocket with a chain attached to it.

"Here, this is something mom got for you, let me help you put it on" Sally said, handing the locket to her son and then helping him put it on. If Sally was to describe the locket, the first word that would come to mind would be… odd. Just looking at it made her feel… spooked in way. She couldn't really tell what metal it was made from, whenever she looked at the locket.. she would go in a trance-like state for a few seconds. It seemed to capture the light around it and suck it in, and slowly pulled her towards it. Then just like that.. she would snap out of it. The locket was in the shape of an oval, like an 0 but sideways. It had some intricate designs on it but she couldn't really tell what they were, it was overall very dark in colour.

Like a normal locket, Sally expected the locket to be openable but.. no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't open it. So like any normal person, you would be wondering why would Sally even think of giving such a creepy thing to her young Perseus? Well.. its simple really, this locket was around his neck on the day he was found by Sally, the doctors had given it back to her later.

sally believed this was Percy's only connection of some form to his original parents and thus, she had kept the locket with her, to give to Percy one day.

As Sally saw Percy lean down to look at the locket now around his head, he seemed to be enthralled by it. She couldn't explain it but as soon as she saw the locket on Percy's neck… she felt like the locket always had belonged to Percy, like it was yearning for Percy. Moving on from the creepy locket quickly, Sally grabbed the picnic basket and started moving Percy's wheelchair out.

Finally back to his senses, Percy exclaimed "woah mum, this is awe-zummm, thankuuu" with a toothy grin on his face.

"You're welcome sweetie, now let's go. I have grabbed all our snacks." Sally replied with a smile of her own.

They were halfway there, driving slowly in their old red car. Sally turned onto a sketchy road, suddenly away from the busy roads. It was a shortcut Sally knew of.

After driving on it for a while, a precarious feeling stirred inside Sally… she couldn't tell what it was but she was suddenly alarmed.

Her instinct turned out to be true, suddenly an projectile flew from the side and landed on her car's windshield. An egg, she realised, was now splattered on their car's front, out of panic she hit the bar to turn on the wipers. But Sally realised that was a big mistake, cause now the egg was smudged all over the windshield, making it impossible to see out of the glass now.

Having no other option, Sally slammed the breaks, bringing the old car to a screeching halt. She turned to look at Percy who was strapped in to the back with his seat belt, he looked a little shocked but fine nonetheless. But before Sally could ponder on it and ask Percy about how he was, suddenly the driver side window was broken by something and a hand suddenly grabbed her neck.

Worried for her and Percy's life, she started flailing her arms, trying to get out the hand's cold grasp. But it was futile, the last thing Sally saw was the face of fat man, with a evil grin on it, looking like a fat walrus before her head was slammed down the neck onto the steering wheel and she was knocked out.

Sally felt her head throbbing, she was slowing coming back to consciousness. With a painful groan, she opened her eyes and felt her hands were tied behind her and she was on a cold floor. She was confused for a second then the memories of what transpired rushed her. She quickly looked around and saw Percy lying on the floor knocked out as well.

They seemed to be in some kind of warehouse with blocked windows. But before Sally could observe her surroundings more or check up on Percy, one of the gates to the warehouse opened and a few people walked in.

As they walked towards Sally, she could finally make out their faces and could tell there were five guys. All of them seemed to be in their late thirties, had biker jackets on and had evil looks on their faces. Sally felt dread in her heart on seeing them. The fattest one who Sally recalled had grabbed her earlier who also looked like a walrus spoke "Heh guys! Look what we got today, such a young bitch" and with that he moved forward and started feeling up Sally.

Tears were spilling freely out of Sally's face, she tried to stop his hands but it was no use. The man was physically stronger than her and her hands were bound. Suddenly one of the other men spoke "Ey Gabe! Look her fucktard twat son is wakin up".

The man which now Sally knew was called Gabe, looked away from Sally towards Percy and she could see, he was indeed stirring up.
Gabe returned to groping Sally "Let me use this bitch infront of his son, lets break her.. shall we guys?".

Only a little distance away, Percy finally awake could see a fat man touching his mum and the tears coming out of her eyes as she tried and failed to stop him. He could hear his mother's cries as she begged the man to stop "p-p-please take al-all my money, ev-even my car. J-just let me and my s-son go. I-I beg you….."

Percy tried to move to his mother, but his paralysed and unresponsive lower half wouldn't budge, he could do nothing but flail his weak arms.

Sally's cries now accompanied with Percy's begging cries fell onto deaf ears though. With a rip sound, Percy saw the man tearing all his mother's pants. Sally knew her fate now, she cried out once again, but this time to her son "P-percy, look away, hide your face- ahghhghhhhhh*pained shriek*" Sally tried to say as the man dropped his pants and violated her.

Tears flowing out of his eyes like a river, Percy turned his face away, unable to help his mother as her integrity was stolen from her. Hiding his face in his shirt, lying down on the cold floor. He could hear the pained and defeated cries of his mother as all of the five men had their way with her. Percy couldn't tell what they were doing to his mum but he knew they were touching her in her private parts, it was a bad touch just like his mum had taught him.

After a whole hour of this, Percy heard a loud thud which sounded like a slap and his mom's cries stopped. He jerked his head to look at her and saw her body.. lying without any clothes, with marks on her entire body, her legs bended apart in a weirdly unnatural way and her lifeless eyes… lifeless… he couldn't tell how but the knew his mum was no more.

A fierce anger suddenly replaced the hopelessness and fear he was feeling. A thousand thoughts running through his tiny head, these men had taken his mum away from him, they had caused her pain… and they were going to suffer. He tried again to get up but failed and unceremoniously fell back down to the floor with a pained grunt. Gabe and his gang seeing this started taunting him "heh dumasss you're a weak lil-bitch aren't u? Your sexy mom was a treat though bitch, what a tight p-".

Before Gabe could finish that sentence, something stirred within Percy, his anger reached new bounds and he snapped. A red-blinding haunting aura flew out of him and slammed into Gabe and his men.

Suddenly Gabe and his men were all on their knees and the last thing they saw before they were consumed by the aura was Percy hovering in the air with his eyes shut tight and something shining on his chest.

*In the Olympian Throne Room*

Blinding lights filled the divine room, as 12 deities flashed into the room. Releasing tremendous energy in the form of flashes with their arrival. They all had sensed it, a really powerful energy signature near Manhattan.

Without much discussion, and with their king's signal, they all flashed away again… locking onto the source of this energy and tracing it down.

The twelve powerful Olympics beings flashed into an old warehouse were they had sensed the powerful energy from. They were supposed to be extremely powerful godly beings but as soon as they appeared inside the warehouse, a powerful aura slammed into them and forced them all on their knees. Immediately they all saw a really young boy hovering off the ground with his eyes closed and the broken body of a mortal women lying nearby. But before they could do anything, the boy suddenly disappeared… it was like he snapped out of existence itself. They couldn't feel the energy signature anymore, it was like the boy didn't even exist anymore. They felt the aura lifting off them and they could rise again.
