Rainforest Rescues
"You won't get away with this!" Gi says, struggling with Greedly.
"And just who's going to stop me?" Greedly laughs with a snort.
Clank! The sound of rattling metal fills the air as the chopper jerks to a halt in midair. Both of them are thrown forwards against the straps. Then the chopper begins to drop towards the ground.
"I don't know if you are interviewing, but I'd like that job, Greedly!" Captain Planet says with a laugh. "There's plenty of time. I hear your flight just got cancelled!"
"Whoa!" Greedly yells, as they streak back towards the ground.
As the helicopter hits the ground, Captain Planet tears the door off, and pulls Gi to safety. Greedly jumps out and takes off on foot. Picking up the young Planeteer, he takes to the air.
"Let's get you back to your friends. Then I have some business to attend to!" Captain Planet says, streaking away with her. "Stick around Greedly, I'm not finished with you yet!
Before she knows what happened, she finds herself standing safely beside Wheeler and Gi.
"Sorry, I can't stay, but I have to see a man about a forest!" Captain Planet says streaking away. "Oops, almost forgot I have to pick something up."
With a nod, he streaks into the forest with a whoosh! Down at the river are two boys struggling to get ahold of a capibara as it fights with the current. Jose slips and Ma-Ti plunges into the water after him. The boys struggle, as another wave hits them, tossing them out into the middle of the open water. Ma-Ti just manages to get ahold of the animal, but finds himself unable to swim against the current. Just as they are swept into the raging river, Captain Planet dives in and lifts them to safety.
"Someone call for an Amazon rescue?" He asks, holding the boys tight.
"Where did you come from?" Jose asks, shaking the water out of his eyes.
"I am the help you called for. I am Captain Planet. Let's get you boys back on solid ground." He says, heading for a bare patch in the middle of the forest. "Thanks for saving the capibara, but right now, you better leave the swift water rescues to me. There is plenty to do on solid ground."
Quickly he takes the capibara back to a den in the forest.
"There we are." He says, as it goes inside. "Come on, we aren't finished here."
Grabbing Jose and Ma-Ti, he takes to the air again. He quickly brings the boys back to the other planeteers.
"Thank you, Captain Planet!" Ma-Ti says, as they land. "Now we can help some more animals."
"Excuse me, but I'm late for a visit with Plunder!" Captain Planet says, taking to the air again. "It's rude to keep people waiting."
"Go Planet!" The planeteers shout waving to him.
Ma-Ti runs to a fallen tree, hops up on the trunk and begins to climb through the branches. "Come on, many of these trees have nests. Now is the time when there are babies. We need to look for them."
"Right behind you, Ma-Ti!" Jose and Kwame call, following the small boy.
In the rain and mud, the young barefoot boy seems right at home, climbing and running among the fallen and tangled branches. Kwame slips and slides, but manages to keep moving. Leaping out onto a branch, Ma-Ti grabs a nest, just as it falls apart in his hands, leaving him holding four small baby birds.
"I got you!" Ma-Ti says with a sigh of relief, holding them close to his body to keep them warm. "The babies are safe for now, but we must get them out of the rain."
"Hold on, we're coming to help!" Kwame calls out, as he slips and slides on the fallen tree.
CRACK! The sound of the branch breaking causes them both to look up.
"Look out for the branch!" Ma-Ti yells, trying to move back, as he slips and slides.
As the rain whips about, the tiny precious nest in his hands begins to come apart. Hunkering down, Ma-Ti struggles to keep the babies from falling out. The more he inches backwards, the slipperier the branch becomes. Then, his foot skids off the branch and he barely manages to hold on without dropping the babies.
"We have to get Ma-Ti before he falls!" Jose calls out, leaping to another branch. "I hope this works."
Meanwhile, Captain Planet races off to find Looten Plunder. Streaking through the forest, he quickly comes upon the great mining machine, as it once more tears into the hillside. As the mud washes away, the shiny sparkle of the gold in the rock can be seen. Flying up from behind the lumbering contraption, he dives down upon it.
"Hey, Mr. Plunder, we're being followed." Rigger says, looking up out of his window.
"We beat those nature nerds once. It's not that hard." Plunder replied.
"But this one flies, sir!"
"What?"
Before Rigger can say anymore, Captain Planet dives down and punches a hole through the wall.
"This looks like a great place to start cleaning up." Captain Planet says, tearing the wall away. "Let's take out the garbage!"
Before Rigger can react, Captain Planet snatches him from his seat and flies away. The little guy wriggles, kicks, and screams, but he just can't get away. Below the machine comes to a halt, as they streak away.
"What are you going to do with me?" Rigger cries out, as the ground below them shrinks.
"Don't worry, I always recycle. I think I know someone who can make a good guy out of you!" Captain Planet replies with a laugh.
Moments later, they reach a small building on the edge of the forest. Captain Planet flies in, and drops Rigger on the desk. "Can you clean this illegal miner up for me, Officer? I'd stay and help, but I'm in a bit of a hurry."
The man behind the desk in the police uniform gets up and grabs the scrawny little guy, as Captain Planet dashes out the door and takes to the air again.
"Okay Plunder, it's your turn!" he says, taking to the air and racing off. "Now where did you go?"
Suddenly, a strange mechanical sound fills the air. Rrrr! Chhh! Rrrr! Chhh! The echo of giant robotic pistons moving fills the air. CRACK! Rrr! Boom! Close behind is the sound of breaking trees. Gazing down, Captain Planet spots the awkward lumbering eight-legged steel giant marching along, cutting a brutal scar into the land with each step. It is headed for a pristine, lush, green hillside. Startled by its frightening noise, animals on the ground scatter, as magnificent parrots take to flight. From the side, a huge robotic arm comes out, with a chattering drill. With a whoosh, the arm moves toward the hillside. Captain Planet streaks to the rocks, standing between the hill and the monstrous arm. Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! The drill hits him and bounces off without a scratch.
"Ha, Ha, Ha! Okay guys, I'll make a dentist appointment after work." Captain Planet says with a laugh.
As the drill comes towards him once more, he grabs it and bends the end of the giant bit. Then he breaks the arm off of the machine, and drops it to the ground.
"What is this guy?" Plunder asks, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm your worst nightmare, Plunder! You just quit the mining business." Captain Planet replies, flying through the window of the machine. "All that money will pay for what you ruined."
As the window shatters, it throws Looten Plunder to the floor, scattering his money, some of which blows out of the broken window. Captain Planet lands and walks across the room towards him.
"It's over for you!"
"I'm not done yet!" Plunder says, grabbing a hose. "Let's see how you handle some toxic waste!"
Before Captain Planet can duck, the greedy business man sprays him with a thick, sticky liquid that looks like tar. As his strength begins to faulter, he moves backwards, trying to get away, but Plunder pursuits him until he trips and tumbles backwards out of the window. Moments later, he hits the ground with a thump.
"So much for that!" Plunder says with an evil laugh, looking down at him. "You're not as tough as I thought."
As the helpless Captain Planet lies alone in the rain, Plunder starts the giant machine up and turns it, heading off into the deep forest, cutting a trail of destruction as he goes.
Back by the river, things seem to go from bad to worse for the Planeteers, with the branch cracking and Ma-Ti struggling to hold on, as what's left of the nest begins to disintegrate in his hands. With the rain pouring down, the raging river swells, forcing Kwame and Jose back. Jose inches forwards, but slips.
"This is much too dangerous for us!" Kwame yells, just grabbing his hand. "We need another way to get Ma-Ti."
Just then, he slips, and Ma-Ti is barely holding on, as he kicks his feet in the raging rapids. For a moment, his friends watch as bigger waves pound him from the rocks. Jose looks around eagerly, hoping for an idea. Suddenly, gazing up, something catches his eye, something high above. With a last burst of strength from his tiring arms and legs, Ma-Ti forces himself up, getting his head above the water and inching closer to the nest, with every ounce of strength. A gust of wind from the storm, shakes the branch, knocking the nest into the water. All of them gasp, and the young boy's tiring grip slips. Onrushing currents spin him around forcing him back into the twisted web of broken branches from the fallen tree. As it rushes past, Ma-Ti leaps out, just snatching remains of the nest and the six baby birds from the water. Slowly, once more he begins drifting down stream.
"I have to get Ma-Ti!" Jose yells, pushing his way into the current. "Oh, I hope this works."
"Jose, No! There has to be a better way." Kwame calls out.
"There is not enough time!"
