Chapter 3: Of all the inhabitants of the earth he ...
We landed in an unpopulated area. I recognize the area, this is where it was when Nappa and I went up against the weaklings of Earth. It makes me snort. "oh Piccolo, are you one of the sentimental ones? I wouldn't have put it past you to bring us here for our first encounter." A grin appears on Piccolo's face and replies to me. "We're here because everything here is already destroyed. But nice thought, and if you remember it, you're the sentimental one of the two of us." The warmth shoots to my face, I look away embarrassed and mine. "Are you here just to talk, Namek, or are we going to fight now." I start to fight him, not expecting a response from him anyway.
2 hours later we finish our sparring in the air. We are no longer in the origin place but always stayed away from people. It was fun, I have to give Piccolo credit for that. The Namek had some good tricks up his sleeve, but as I predicted, I was the one with the upper hand.
Piccolo and I ended up in the sew of a river. He raises his hand toward a rock. Poof. On the big stone in front of him come 2 big cups. Piccolo grabs them both and fills them. He looks at me as he puts one back, he goes to the side and then he drinks his cup. Piccolo walks back to the river.
I move closer. Take the drinking container left behind and critically assess it. The contents look clear. I sniff it. Seems to be good. I drink it briskly empty. I realize only now how much thirst I had. I also refill it at the river. The Namek looks at me silently from the side and turns away again with a slightly purple face. I drink more water. When I have enough. I see that he looks again.
So I say to him with a grin "Do you see something you like Namek?" and realize his face is getting even more purple colored and at that I turn away grinning even more and just said. "Gohan wasn't going to like it anyway when his Piccolo looks at way he swans around you." He growls and rolls his eyes. "Leave Gohan out of it! It's none of Gohan's business when I look anyway. What do you even mean by that, Vegeta?" I start laughing and shake my head. "Don't you realize that? He marks you as his, his mate." Piccolo looks at me doubtfully. "Nobody marks me. How would that be recognizable?" But I contradict him. "Gohan wants you as a companion. It's recognizable by his scent. He's all over you."
He snorts and speaks "I smell nothing, nor do I have any interest in Gohan, as a mate." I grunt, but leave it at that for now, feeling strangely relieved inside. I still wonder about the quick familiarity. But my stomach growls, so I am distracted by my own body, by my thoughts. I walk back toward the river and easily see my prey through the clear water. With a ki ball, I hit three fish. I pin them to three branches and begin to grill them with Ki. Piccolo watches me at first, but then settles into his meditation pose and closes his eyes. When the fish are done, I look up. His eyes are still closed. I take a branch with fish and stick it in the ground in front of Piccolo. Piccolo notices my action and looks questioningly at the fish. "I don't need to eat, water is enough for him." I snort. "I've seen the other Namekians eat fish. So it won't kill him. Besides, I don't like him owing anyone anything. So eat Namek." And democratically take the two cups in his hand, fill them up fresh. Also give him back his filled cup. Drink some of mine and gladly start my meal, because the animals here are a treat compared to those in space.
I heard a snort. "You know, monkey. People have names. Why are you still taking me Namek, I already introduced myself to you."
I look up and tilt my head. "I'm not from here, Piccolo, and Earth people have quirks I don't understand. Here in space it is not an insult to use the species name and as long as you don't insult it. Well, think snail and monkey is an insult to both of us. Besides, the species name is even a matter of showing respect, the person is recognized as full. You are definitely the strongest of the Namekians, that's why you usually became their leader Piccolo." He answers me, rolling his eyes. "The Namekians don't care about me, plus they hate me. Though Nail thinks they are actually nice. But I don't have any desire for those Namekians." "Nail? Who is that? I haven't seen you with anyone named Nail." Piccolo looks at me with wide eyes and snorts, turning slightly purple again. I lay my head sideways again and raise one eye. Since I don't have to be anywhere, I am patient and eat my 2 fish. But I hear a snort. "You're watching me?"
I shrug, just saying. "I've noticed you avoiding the other Namekians. And he himself has heard the Namekians blaspheme, too."
I don't really expect an answer anymore. Because I can tell it makes Piccolo uncomfortable. Look at the area while I eat, the silence here is so soothing. But I was wrong, I did get an answer. "Nail is the one I merged with. He's still here. Lives on in my head, so to speak." I look at him, shaking my head in pity. "Must be annoying, Piccolo." He replies. "It could have been someone more annoying. Nail is O.K., he actually, only speaks up when he wants to help. Sometimes annoying, but bearable." I notice how he looks at me, but for now, the conversation from just now is enough for me. The twilight slowly increases, partly you can already see the stars. I lower myself from my previous sitting position onto my back and watch the scattered stars. I feel well. Yes, from all inhabitants of the earth, it is dearest to me.
