Misako shut the front door behind her and breathed a sigh of relief. Garmadon chuckled and rubbed her arm.
"Getting a bit much for you?" he asked.
Misako rolled her eyes. "As though you're not overwhelmed by my father."
Garmadon raised his eyebrows. "If not more than you," he muttered.
"My mother doesn't mind you as much. And my sister likes you," Misako shrugged.
"Well, your sister sometimes seems on the verge of dating me herself, so…your family is a whole spectrum of liking me."
Misako punched his arm. "She is not! She's just thinks you're nice. And she needs to intimidate you."
"Isn't that usually an older sibling job?" Garmadon smirked leaning against the porch railing.
"Shouldn't you be getting home?" Misako said, crossing her arms.
"Yes," Garmadon sighed. "But I like to be with you…"
Misako smiled and looked at her feet. "I know, but you have quite the hike to make. You'll worry your brother."
"But it's raining," Garmadon smiled stepping forward to lift her head. "You want me to walk back in the rain?"
Misako patted his face. "I'll give you an umbrella, dear."
Garmadon chuckled. "Thank you, but I'll be alright."
Misako raised an eyebrow. "It's not an issue. Let me get it."
"Really, Misako, I'll be fine."
She frowned.
"I will!" Garmadon repeated. "I'm going now!"
He took a step backwards and slowly began going down the porch steps, the rain beginning to soak him.
One…
Two…
"Get back up here!" Misako shouted, lunging at him.
But she lost her balance, and fell forward.
As deft as ever, Garmadon was able to catch her, and set her firmly on the ground. However, they were both now soaked in the rain.
"Are you okay?" Garmadon asked.
Misako nodded. "Yes, I'm alright. I'm wet though."
"Well, as long as you're not hurt, that one's on you," Garmadon teased waving a finger at her.
She pushed his hand away. "Oh please! Me simply trying to help you is an issue?"
"I didn't need your help! Simple as that."
"You're insufferable sometimes, my dear,"Misako sighed wrapping her arms around his neck. "But I love you."
Garmadon smiled. "I love you too. So much. Forever."
Grinning, Misako looked up and kissed him. "Forever?"
"Yes," Garmadon nodded. "Forever. Forever you're mine. Forever and always, to the end of all time."
"You think you're funny, don't you?" Misako sighed resting her head on his chest. "Forever? Well, if you get to say it, I do too. Forever you're mine. Forever, and always, to the end of all time."
Garmadon chuckled and kissed the top of her head. "Awfully poetic of me isn't it? Or maybe simply twisted in a way…"
"Why must you see the morbid side of things?" Misako groaned. "Can't it simply be poetic?"
"Poetic it is then," Garmadon sighed. "I didn't mean to bring down the mood. It must be the rain.
Misako pulled away. "And why must the rain be sad? I think it's nice."
"Of course you do," Garmadon chuckled. He kissed her hand. "You have a beautiful outlook on life. I admire that about you."
Blushing, Misako looked away. "And you are so good at flirting when you don't try."
Garmadon laughed. "Oh really? I hardly think that counts as flirting…or are you too embarrassed to come up with proper response?"
Misako gasped and stamped her foot. "Garmadon! You…"
"I'm sorry," he laughed hanging his head. "But you have tendency to give poor defenses when embarrassed!"
"At least I try," Misako smirked.
"Oh, good heavens," Garmadon groaned throwing his head back. "Come here!"
He wrapped his arms around her waist and picked her up, spinning her around. Misako just laughed.
"Is that romantic enough for you?" Garmadon laughed, putting her down.
Misako only laughed in response, the sound ringing down the street.
It made Garmadon smile, and he pulled her in for a hug. "You make me so happy."
"And you make me smile!" Misako hummed, resting her head against his chest.
He took her hand, and wrapped an arm around her waist. "I love making you smile," he said beginning to dance.
She chuckled and eased into the step with him. "And you know exactly how to do it too."
"Sometimes I'm full of surprises, darling!" he smirked.
"I love the good ones," Misako smiled.
"Oh, I love you, my dear!" Garmadon laughed. "Forever and always!"
"Forever and always," she echoed.
The couple danced in the street, swaying side to side, stepping together with beautiful synchronization. Neither cared if the neighbors saw, and Misako certainly didn't mind if her father was going to be upset. It wasn't every day one had the privilege of dancing in the rain with their partner.
Misako was all smiles and laughter as Garmadon spun her down the street. And much to her relief, so was he. It didn't matter that they were soaked through or that their clothes were ruined. They had each other, and in the moment, neither wanted anything more.
Nothing more than to dance in the rain.
