"Good morning, Anderson family!" Ms. Fairy sing-songed when she saw Blaine and his mother come in the door one Thursday morning.

Pam glanced at her with a tight smile. "Good morning. I have to tell you that Blaine's not feeling very well today. He always gets really bad allergies this time of year, and they're hitting pretty hard right now. I had to give him a bit of Benadryl last night to help him sleep well, and he's just very tired and whiny this morning."

As if to illustrate his mother's point, Blaine—who was resting on her shoulder—whined and turned his face into her neck, pressing closer.

"Oh, the poor dear," Ms. Fairy said, reaching out for Blaine. "Want to come snuggle with me for a while until a few more of your friends show up? You're early today."

"Wan' Kurt," Blaine mumbled as he slid into Ms. Fairy's arms.

"Well, he's not here yet. I'm sure he will be soon, though," she said softly, rubbing his back.

"He does have some doctor prescribed allergy medication. I tucked it into his backpack this morning in case you need it," Pam told Ms. Fairy, reaching over to press a soft kiss to the side of Blaine's curly head. "I know you're not feeling the best, but try to have a good day today anyway, sweetie. Okay?"

"'tay, Mommy," Blaine mumbled back, closing his eyes. "Bye bye."

"I love you, Blaine."

"Wuv Mommy."

And with that, Pam swept out the door to head to work while Ms. Fairy made her way over to the rocking chair with the rather lethargic little boy. "How do we feel about rocking for a little while?" she asked, blowing Quinn a kiss as she sat down. Maybe he'll be able to rest for a bit until a few other kids start showing up.

Thankfully for Blaine, it was nearly half an hour until the next friend showed up, and he barely awoke when Ms. Fairy went to answer the door. To her delight, it was Kurt.

"Good morning, Kurt, Elizabeth," she greeted with a cheery smile. "How are you both this morning?"

"Good morning. We're doing well today," Elizabeth said with a smile at Ms. Fairy and a gentle frown at Blaine. That's certainly not going to escape Kurt's notice.

It did not. "Wha's w'ong wif my Bwainers?" Kurt asked immediately, looking worried to see Blaine resting against Ms. Fairy's shoulder.

"Well, Blaine is having some allergies today, which makes him extra sleepy. He did say he wanted to see you when you got here, so maybe he'll be ready to wake up now and play a little." Rubbing his back gently, Ms. Fairy turned to whisper into Blaine's ear, "Kurt's here now, sweetie."

"My Kurt?" Blaine mumbled, waking up slowly. His head was still feeling icky, yet he needed Kurt. "Where?"

"'m ri' here, Bwainers," Kurt said quietly. "You wan' pway sumfin'?"

"Nuh-uh. Wan' snuggle."

Elizabeth smiled softly at that answer. She bent and kissed Kurt's cheek, gently pulling him back against her in a hug as she whispered, "I know you're going to be an amazing friend to Blaine today. Just make sure you have fun. Okay?"

"'Tay, Mommy. I wike takin' care my Bwainers."

"I know you do. Just don't forget to play today. Alright?"

"'Tay. Yuv you, Mommy. I see you waiter."

"I love you, Kurt. Be good today." She gave him another quick kiss to the cheek before turning around and leaving for her job as well.

"How about we get the two of you settled on the floor with a movie, hmm?" Ms. Fairy asked, carrying Blaine over toward the little open spot in front of the TV.

"We watch Fwankwin?" Kurt wanted to know as he followed her. "My Bwainers yuvs Fwankwin."

"I think that can be arranged," Ms. Fairy assured him. "Why don't you find a seat, and I'll put Blaine down next to you?"

So, Kurt settled down on the floor in the center of the little area, and as soon as Ms. Fairy put Blaine down, he leaned against Kurt, smooshing his face into his shoulder at first before twisting to lay on his side, his head in Kurt's lap.

Kurt's hands found their way into Blaine's hair, and he began rubbing his head gently, combing his fingers through Blaine's curls while he waited for Ms. Fairy to turn Franklin on.

It didn't take even an entire episode of Franklin before Blaine was asleep in Kurt's lap, and they stayed that way until it was time for morning snack and to go outside before lunch.

Trying his best, Kurt encouraged Blaine to play with him, and for a while, they drove cars in the sandbox. Eventually, though, all Blaine wanted to do, mostly, was lay down either on or beside Kurt. And even though Kurt didn't mind being Blaine's pillow, he was rather concerned.

"You need you mommy, my Bwainers?" he asked quietly after lunch as they waited for Ms. Fairy to get their cots out for naptime. "Maybe you feew better if'n you mommy comed get you."

Blaine shook his head, however. "Nuh-uh, my Kurt. 'm just sweepy. An' need you for snugglin'. You snuggles makin' me feew wots an' wots better."

"Otay," Kurt agreed. "I don' yike you bein' sick, my Bwainers. Wan' you feew better."

"I no' sick, my Kurt. Mommy sayed is just aww-a-geez."

"Don' yike it stiww."

"Alright. You can come lay down for naptime now," Ms. Fairy told them quietly, smiling softly in Kurt and Blaine's direction. Blaine looked so tired still, and Kurt was doing his best to help his friend however he could.

"You sing me sweep?" Blaine asked Kurt when he was all snuggled up under his Spiderman blanket, his and Kurt's cots pulled as close as they could get.

"I sing you," Kurt agreed, reaching out to pet Blaine's soft, springy curls again.

"A whole new world

A dazzling place I never knew

But when I'm way up here

It's crystal clear

That now I'm in a whole new world with you"

It didn't take long for them both to fall asleep, Kurt's hand still resting against the back of Blaine's head.

When they woke up that afternoon, it was time for snack, and Ms. Fairy made the announcement that none of the kids liked to hear. "We are all out of our regular snack for today because we finished what I had on Tuesday. So, instead of Goldfish, you get to pick your snack today. You can have a fruit snack and cheese stick or a baggie of Cheez-its." The kids grumbled, yet as Ms. Fairy walked around the room, they all gave her their order. Until she got to Kurt and Blaine.

"Which one would you like today, Blaine? A fruit snack and cheese stick or Cheez-its?"

"Wan' go'fishes p'ease."

"Those are really nice manners, sweetheart. And I know it stinks. I just don't have any Goldfish today. Fruit snack or Cheez-its?"

"Wan' go'fishes."

"Oh, Baine, it's been a rough day today, hasn't it?"

There were tears in Blaine's eyes as he shook his head no, wincing when that made his little head pound. "No' rough day," he pleaded. "Jus' wan' go'fishes."

"My Bwainers, wiww share snack wif me?" Kurt asked, reaching over to hug Blaine. "I share wif you?"

"Has go'fishes?" Blaine asked, sniffling.

"Nuh-uh. 'm havin' Cheez-its. You wan' some, too?"

Blaine nodded then put his head down on the table as little tears ran out of his eyes and down his cheeks. He wasn't even sure he was hungry. He just knew that he was sad and sleepy and he wanted nothing more than to curl up with Kurt and go back to sleep until his dumb aww-a-geez were all gone.

"Thank you for your help, Kurt," Ms. Fairy told the little boy, pushing two baggies of Cheez-its across the table toward the boys. "You're a good friend to Blaine."

Kurt beamed at the praise, pulling open their snacks and passing one cracker over to Blaine. "Here, my Bwainers. Eat you snack."

Blaine turned his head and put the cracker his mouth, chewing slowly. "'m sweepy 'gain, my Kurt. Wan' snuggle wif you."

"We c'n do dat af'er snack. Wan' dwaw wif me?"

"Wead stowy?" Blaine asked instead, thinking about how comfy the beanbag chairs sounded.

"I wead," Kurt assured him. He did want to color, though, and he thought there might be time for that later.

After they finished their snack, Kurt having fed crackers to Blaine one by one, he helped Blaine pick out a large stack of books for them to read before they both settled down into a beanbag chair.

Just a few pages into their first book, Ms. Fairy brought over a blanket. "I thought this might be comfier for you two," she said, draping it over their laps.

"Fanks," Kurt said, going back to his book. "Now, dat fwoggie an' dat toad is goin' to goes fishin'. Dey has dem fish pose, an' dey go hoppin', hoppin', hoppin'."

When Blaine's mother showed up about an hour later to get Blaine, she found him curled up in a little ball beside Kurt, his head resting on Kurt's chest, his thumb hovering near his mouth. His curls were sticking out every which way, and his long lashes lay against his tan little cheeks. He was cocooned in the blanket Ms. Fairy had given them, looking like an adorable, sleepy lump of Blaine. Kurt was still reading books quietly, holding them off to the side and away from Blaine's head. Pam couldn't help snapping a quick picture before she came over and scooped Blaine up onto her shoulder, giving Kurt a gentle smile. "Did you spend the day taking care of Blaine?" she asked quietly.

Kurt nodded. "Hims was sweepin' yots."

"I know. He doesn't feel very good today."

"He sayed he has aww-a-geez."

"Yeah. He does have allergies. You're right. Thank you for taking good care of him today. I know Blaine really likes getting to spend time with you."

It was then that Blaine stirred in his mother's arms, stretching a little as he whimpered out, "Kurt?"

"You is goin' home now, Bwainers. I see you waiter," Kurt told him softly.

"Gottsa hug my Kurt!" Blaine insisted, beginning to wiggle in his mother's arms until she put him down and he fell into Kurt's embrace once more. "Fanks fo' stowies an' singin', Kurt. I be better 'mowwow an' we pway house?"

"Otay," Kurt agreed, hugging his friend back and waving to him as his mother carried him out the door. Kurt's own mother arrived about 20 minutes later and found him coloring at the table, his tongue barely poking out the corner of his mouth.

"Hi, sweetpea," she said softly, crouching down next to him. "Did you have a good day?"

Kurt nodded. "I taked care my Bwainers acuz he don' feew good."

Elizabeth nodded. "Did you get to play today?"

"We pwayed inna sand and weaded books. Bwainers sayed he wiww feew better 'mowwow an' pway house wif me."

"Kurt was a very good friend today," Ms. Fairy said, coming over to take a seat across the table from Kurt and his mother. "He let Blaine sleep in his lap for a while this morning, helped him fall asleep at naptime, and even helped him eat his snack. He was very sweet with Blaine today, and Kurt, I really appreciate all your help. You were a wonderful helper."

At that, the little boy's face lit up, his cheeks pinking up at the praise ever so slightly.

"That's wonderful. I'm very proud of you, sweetheart. I think you deserve an extra scoop of ice cream with dessert tonight for being such a wonderful helper today. Don't you?"

"Fank you, Mommy!" Kurt cheered, getting up with her and heading for the door.

When they got home that evening, Burt met them in the driveway, scooping his son up into a big hug. "Hey, kid. How was daycare today? Did you have fun?"

Kurt nodded. "I takeded care my Bwainers aww day acuz hims got aww-a-geez, an' he sweepeded yots. An' is otay dat I takeded care of him acuz I yuv him, an' Ms. Faiwy sayed I did a good job."

"Is that so?" Burt asked, tickling lightly at Kurt's tummy as he glanced at his wife, getting a nod of corroboration in return.

"Uh-huh! An' Mommy sayed I getta has estwa ice cweam acuz I was a good he'per aww day."

"Oh, really?"

"I has my ice cweam now?" Kurt asked hopefully.

Burt just chuckled. "Well, I think we should get some supper in this tummy first, but we'll break out the ice cream right after. Cross my heart." He made a big show of crossing his heart, just for his son to see. Then, he held him out in front of him on his belly and raced them both toward the house, yelling, "Airplane! Neeeerooooooom!" as he went, grinning at Kurt's delighted shrieks and giggles.
