Chapter 1
Ameri looked out over the city. It was an alien city, in the sense she'd never seen it, but also in the sense that it seemed to be populated by aliens. She looked into the distance with her clairvoyant left eye. Is that Tokyo? She scanned the skyline and spotted the famous Tokyo Tower. But even the familiar sight didn't calm her down.
The last thing I remember was seeing that weird block-thing the evil organization had in their basement. It started glowing, then everything went white. Did that explosion send me to Tokyo or the suburbs? Ameri had never gone to Tokyo before, she never even left her hometown before, so she grew a bit nervous. I guess this is a suburb of Tokyo, but that doesn't explain the people! She peeked out over the rooftop to investigate the people walking below her.
There were all kinds of people. Some with strange hair designs, patterns on their skin, and unusual eyes. There were people who didn't even look human and were mixed with various animals or had parts replaced with seemingly random objects.
They don't look dangerous. She thought as she used her evil sensing right eye to see if they wanted to do evil. All their auras came up white, showing there was no criminal intent.
I guess the first thing I should do is find out where to go from here. She stood up and was about to fly away when she remembered something. I don't have my street clothes! She looked at her revealing costume, blushing at the exposed parts. She was about to go into full panic mode when something caught her eye. It was the dark aura of a criminal. Forgetting her embarrassment, she flew off the roof and started to put her powers to good use.
"Oh my goodness!" Cried the beautiful lady who was trapped in an alley. The man advancing on her licked his knife. His quirk: Wolf in sheep's clothing worked perfectly. No one would doubt his sob stories if he looked that cute.
"Look lady, I don't wanna hurt ya," he smirked. "So let's do this nice and easy…" he gestured with his knife. "Leave all valuables in the bag and I promise ya gonna be alright." He activated his quirk, his sharp vicious features turned soft and lovable. "I ain't the murdering type."
"Stop right there criminal!" A voice shouted from above. Both the lady and the man looked up to see a costumed girl floating above them. "Stop harassing this woman, or I won't show mercy."
The man batted his eyes at her. "But I'm not a criminal, I'm just a…"
The girl dropped down between them, and even though she was the shorter one, she stared right in his eyes. "That wasn't a question."
A vein in the man's forehead throbbed. "So ya think flying is gonna help ya on the ground, huh?" He cast off his disguise, getting more and more dangerous looking by the second. "Well, I ain't no slouch myself! And if ya think I'm going down without a fight! Let me tell ya something! I'm…" His threats and promises of violence were cut short by a quick punch to the gut which sent him flying out of the alley and into the sidewalk, scattering pedestrians.
"Are you okay?" Ameri asked the still shaken lady.
"I'm fine," she said after having a moment to collect herself. "Are you a U.A. student? You seem a little young to be a professional hero."
"I'm a student, but not at U.A. Actually, I was wondering if you could give me directions to Gousamu?" Ameri asked, keeping one eye on the unconscious man on the sidewalk.
"Let me check for you," the lady said, taking out her phone.
Ameri kept talking to fill in the silence. "I guess I was caught up in an explosion or something. Because the first thing I know after seeing that white light, I'm up on a roof in a completely different town."
The woman tilted her head. "I can't find anything on a city named Gousamu."
"How could you not find it? It's the most crime-ridden city in Japan?" The woman showed Ameri her phone.
"See, nothing." The woman looked at the young hero with pity. "How about I–LOOK OUT!" She screamed as the mugger lunged at Ameri with his knife. The knife poked her in the back, but it didn't even pierce her cape. Ameri spun around and clobbered him across the face so hard he slammed into the wall. The defeated criminal slid down the wall, any hope of revenge was flattened like his nose.
The woman looked at the man with a surprising amount of concern, considering he was robbing her a moment ago. "Is he going to be alright?" she asked. "You really hit him hard."
"He should be fine," Ameri reassured her, "I can't kill people." She straightened her shoulders and reflexively puffed out her chest with pride. "I am a hero after all." Ameri never really got a chance to boast in front of the people she saved, mainly because she's too embarrassed due to her uniform getting torn up or the person she saves already knows her personally. So it was a rare moment to bask in the glory.
"So you are a hero, congratulations! You're very young, and your parents must be so proud. You know, I have a daughter about your age who's training to be a hero."
"That's good to hear." Ameri smiled at the lady. Where could you go to train to be a hero? Is it that U.A. school she mentioned? She looks a little young to have a child my age. The woman did look very young, perhaps in her early thirties at most. But she had a body that seemed to be timeless, so she might be older. Ameri's smile quickly turned into a worried frown. "I need to get this man to prison. Where is the police station?"
The lady thanked her again and pointed her toward the police station. Ameri grabbed the man, slung him over her back, and flew towards the station.
It's strange that she couldn't find out where Gousamu is, but I'm sure I can find out at the police station.
"Did you forget we're supposed to come to you to arrest the criminal?" The officer scolded Ameri. "I know you must be new to this, but did you forget all of your training? How are we supposed to verify with the victim if we don't have a name?" He shook his head. "Just fill out the forms and I guess we can let this one slide." He gently grabbed her elbow and steered her inside. "Is this the first time you've saved someone? I can help you with the paperwork if you want."
She pulled away from him and took a step back. "I've saved countless people before, I've just never had to do all this work afterward." Her eyes started to tear up. "Please, I just want to go home. Can you tell me where Gousamu is?"
"Come on inside, I'll look while you do the paperwork." She relented and went inside. She was brought to a room with school desks where she was sat down and given a small stack of papers.
"When you're done with these I'll have found where it is, we can contact your parents too if you'd like."
"Better not, I don't want them to worry about me," Ameri said as she looked over the papers.
"Very well, hand those papers to the front desk when you finish alright? I'll let them know what you're expecting." He walked out, leaving the young hero with the legal papers she had no idea how to fill.
Ok, name? That's easy. Hero name? Lady Justice. Hero group? None I guess? Hero ID#?...Better leave this one blank. Place of altercation? Uhh… Tokyo. Approximate time of altercation? 3:40 p.m. Type of crime? Mugging, robbery? Number of victims? One. Was a quirk used? What's a quirk? Guess I'll leave it blank. If you answered "yes" to the previous ...Skip.
The papers tried to get a very detailed report about what happened, something she'd never had to do before so its abundant questions were mostly left blank. Finally finished to the best of her abilities, Ameri headed for the front desk.
"Here you go." She plopped the papers on the desk, rattling the other items. "Sorry about that," she apologized.
The officer briefly glanced at the forms.
"You missed some important questions," He pointed out. "We need your-"
"Can you please tell me where Gousamu is so I can go home? I'm sure my parents are beginning to worry."
"You can call them on the phone," He moved the desk phone towards her, "while I go over your forms." The look in his eye gave no room for questions, and she was satisfied with at least a phone call. Carefully pressing the numbers so as not to break the phone, she dialed her home phone. All she was met with was a dial tone. She tried her father's cell, dial tone. Hands shaking, she tried her mom's cell. Dial tone.
She hung up. Face pale and head spinning, her brain started to shut down.
"You didn't fill out the forms correctly. Miss, you need to give me your…" The officer's voice faded away as Ameri fainted. She fell right into very friendly arms.
Marufuji sighed with relief as he held onto the girl he loves. "It's a good thing I was here for you. Now it's my time to help you."
