Peaceful
Chapter 12
Christine woke up Christmas morning and smiled at Mike. Jacob had woken up a few hours before and Mike had gotten up with him, and Jacob had ended up putting his daddy to sleep. He was now awake and looking at Mike intently. Christine very gently took Jacob out of Mike's arms and tucked the blanket back over Mike. She gave Jacob a smile and kissed the top of his head.
"You are one lucky little boy. Your daddy, me and your sisters love you so much. And Monster too. And today is your first Christmas and Daddy really spoiled you. You can't play with them yet, but there are so many toys for you." Christine told the baby boy. Mike apparently heard her.
"Don't give away all my secrets. I want the presents to be a surprise." Mike said.
"He's two days old. He doesn't get it. Its just more presents for the girls to open. Next Christmas, though will be amazing." Christine said with a laugh. She leaned over and gave Mike a kiss.
"Compared to my last few; this is a pretty amazing Christmas too. Having you and the girls. Him. I can't tell you how happy that makes me." Mike told her.
"I have some idea." Christine said. Just then Hannah and Katie came in and cuddled between her and Mike. She could tell it made Mike's day.
They talked and cuddled a little longer before going downstairs. There were tons of presents for both girls and for Jacob. Quite a few for Christine, and even a treat stocking for the puppy, but hardly any for Mike. And he didn't seem to mind. He held Jacob so Christine could open hers. Her absolute favorite was a beautiful wedding ring set. Katie held Jacob so Mike could place it on Christine's ring finger and give her a kiss.
Their Christmas was very low key. They cooked a dinner for just them, and cuddled and ate, not caring about formalities or even old traditions. There were some sad moments where Lucas was concerned. They would never be whole without him, but they were at least together and that was huge for them. Christine felt married again. The girls were recovering and learning to trust their dad. Jacob was healthy. They couldn't ask for any more than that.
