A/N: I don't claim to be a great writer. This is another story I'm going to try out, and see how far I can take it. I might not update regularly, I'm too inexperienced and I'm in my critical high school years, but I'll try. Feel free to correct any grammatical mistakes on my part, I'm trying to focus less on editing since I often get caught up on how to best say something for far too long and psych myself out. Possible canon divergence later on, I haven't fully planned it yet xD. I'll reveal the pairing later on if I ever get that far, but it should be fairly obvious. Hint: it's not IzuOcha, they're my favorite canon pairing, but I personally love another one. Anyway, here's Ignition, my take on a Quirk!Izuku story.

Ember

It was a normal day at Aldera Elementary.

Crackle!

Until it wasn't.

"Guys look! Bakugo got his quirk!"

The entire class looked on in awe at Bakugo, whose hands were periodically crackling like firecrackers. The blond in question was frozen for an instant before a gleeful grin spread on his face. He held out his palms and focused on the feeling he felt a second prior.

Crackle! Snap! Bang!

"His hands can explode!?"

"Woah! That's so cool!"

"I hope mine's like that!"

One by one, every kid congratulated the blond. Even the teacher praised him.

"You're sure to become a great hero!"

It only served to fuel the excitement of the kids. Each one eagerly cheered, the ones who had their quirks manifested activating them in celebration. Fingers stretched into the air, pencils and crayons began floating, and someone's hair even changed from green to red!

"Beat this, losers! I'm gonna be number one!" Bakugo shouted, holding his hands up before unleashing a small explosion in triumph.

In the crowd, Izuku could only look on in awe, clutching the All Might figurine that he'd been playing with only moments prior. His friend had manifested his quirk, and an awesome one at that!

'Woah, Kacchan's so cool! I wonder what my quirk will be! Maybe Dad's Firebreath? Ooh, maybe Mom's minor telekinesis! MAYBE I CAN CONTROL FIRE!?'

At that moment, Izuku felt something stir inside him.

In another world, nothing would have happened, and the celebration would have continued for a few minutes before the teacher ushered Bakugo out of the classroom to his parents in order to see a physician and continued the class as normal. However, this world was different.

Fwoosh!

"GUYS LOOK! Midoriya's toy's on fire!"

"I think he got his quirk too!"

"Two in a day!? AWESOME!"

Izuku stared in awe. In his hands was his All Might toy, covered in a vibrant viridescent flame that crackled and danced. Strangely, the fire didn't hurt nor did the All Might figurine show any signs of melting, but he had the gut feeling that if he wanted to, he could make it burn. Deciding to test something, he set the toy down on a table. Nothing burned. Letting go, he watched as the flame continued to dance for a few moments. He tried dismissing the flame. It quickly dimmed to nothingness.

"So it doesn't burn anything and it keeps burning if I put it down unless I put it out. I feel like I can make it burn things if I want it to so maybe if I-"

As the boy muttered, Bakugo looked on with the rest of his classmates, staring at Izuku in awe. Sure, he was a little annoyed that Izuku had stolen his spotlight, but his best friend had just developed his quirk at the same time as him! Awesome! His grin grew even wider.

-Ignition-

After a small celebration of their quirks manifesting, his teacher had called the parents of both the children and given the news. Shortly thereafter, their ecstatic parents, or parent in his case, arrived and drove their children to the local hospital to be examined.

"Well, Mrs. Midoriya, everything seems to be in working order. Young Izuku here is perfectly healthy!"

Izuku could barely contain himself, excitedly bouncing up and down in his mom's lap as the physician gave his verdict. He had a quirk and it was everything he dreamed of, how could he contain his excitement? He couldn't wait for the next part: Testing the basics of his quirk!

'I wanna see how cool my quirk is!'

"Alright then, let's get started with quirk testing, are you excited Izuku?" Seeing the little kid's frantic nodding, the physician couldn't help but chuckle at his enthusiasm. Picking up a small block of wood on his desk, he handed it to the boy. "Alright, first thing's first, could you use your quirk on this?"

Izuku focused on the feeling in his gut, the same one he felt back in the classroom. It was a bit difficult, like trying to move a limb after it had fallen asleep, but after a few moments, he got it.

Fwoosh!

"Interesting," The physician slowly waved his hands at the alit object, watching as the flame flowed and danced softly. Slowly moving his hands closer, he noticed a distinct warmth, comforting like a lit fireplace in the dead of winter. Feeling no increase in heat, he moved his hands closer and tapped the block. No reaction. "It seems to be completely safe to interact with. Hey kiddo, can you make the fire bigger?"

Izuku took a moment to breathe, before closing his eyes and focusing on the block of wood. He felt a connection with the object, feeling something inside, like a pool of untapped potential, with a small ember softly burning from it. He reached over and imagined stoking a flame, imagining the fire in his hands turning into a blaze.

FWOOOOSH!

"Woah!" He heard them gasp.

Opening his eyes, the boy stared in awe. Where once there was a small fire cupped in the palms of his hands was now a roaring blaze that illuminated the entire room, reaching even the nine-foot ceiling. Feelings of wonder, comfort, and excitement seemed to emanate from the flames, something felt by the adults as they too began to become unconsciously giddy with excitement.

He held the flame to this size for a few seconds, taking in the sight of the sparks dancing in and around the flames, floating and drifting to a tune that seemed to resonate with Izuku. It felt like a part of himself had been rediscovered, and he would never let it be lost.

Eventually, he felt exhaustion begin to creep on the edges of his consciousness, so he reluctantly began to shrink the flames, focusing inwards once again and nudging the flames to return to their original size. Once that was finished, he looked at the physician once more, who took a moment to collect himself.

"Wow," The man breathed, shaking his hands and shoulders, recovering from the emotions he had felt previously, "That was … something."

"..."

A moment of silence passed, before a small chuckle came from the man, before eventually spreading to the whole room at the understatement of the century.

"Well, it seems Izuku can definitely control the size of his flames. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but those emotions … were your's, right kiddo?" A nod came from the boy. "Well, it seems his flames not only hold a soothing property but also the ability to project Izuku's emotions when they are sufficient in size. Jeez, talk about a quirk, right?"

A giggle came from Inko. "I think my son has a mutated combination of his parents' quirks since my husband can breathe fire and I have a limited form of telekinesis."

"It seems so, but before we jump to conclusions we should finish our testing. Now, let's see if the flames can damage objects. Kiddo, could you please-"

Fwoosh! Sizzle!

Before the doctor could finish his request, Izuku had already begun the process, closing his eyes and looking inside himself again. He already knew he could probably burn things, but how would he make his quirk respond?

'Maybe I just imagine the block burning to nothingness?'

"Izuku!" Startled at his mother's panicked cry, he jumped and spun, only to see his mother frozen in shock. Looking at his hands, he noticed that the block of wood was no longer present, and on the floor was a pile of ashes.

The doctor quickly approached and gently took Izuku's hands, examining them for any signs of burns or other damage. Seeing none, he sighed in relief. "Alright Mrs. Midorya, your son is fine. It seems he's immune to his own flames, or at least highly resistant. Kiddo, next time, let me finish my instructions, okay? Let's not give your mother a heart attack."

After a light scolding from his mother and a tearful embrace that left the doctor wondering if the Midoriya family had multiple quirks, the testing continued.

After around an hour, it was determined that material didn't matter in regards to quirk activation, a small block of aluminum igniting the same as the initial block of wood. Izuku could also control the extent of damage caused by the flames, limiting it to only a slight scorching of the surface or incinerating objects to ashes or puddles of slag, which had to be carefully handled and disposed of. Certain materials were harder to damage, namely non-flammable ones, but if given enough time or pushed hard enough by their wielder, the flames could burn through quite a lot.

It seemed size and distance also mattered. Larger flames were considerably more draining and harder to command, and flames farther away took longer to respond to Izuku's nudges. Larger distance seemed to impact only control, not output, as objects would continue to emit the flame even from across the hospital.

Careful testing revealed that Izuku was, in fact, not immune to his flames, or even highly resistant. Instead, he subconsciously commanded the flames not to hurt him, which the quirk would obey. He could extend this protection to others while the flames burned objects, but it took considerable concentration for the little kid. If it slipped, he could risk injury before his subconscious took over once more.

Most interestingly, it was determined that Izuku's flames weren't actual flames, rather they were a type of psychic energy, evidenced by the emotions that were broadcast, that took the form of flames and many of fire's properties but would obey the user.

After a few more tests, everyhing was ready.

-Ignition-

"Well," said the physician, wiping sweat from his brow as he looked at the tired kid and the notes in his hands, "I can safely say that this is one of the most fascinating quirks I have had the pleasure of witnessing. Kiddo, you'll be a great hero one day!"

The last part seemed to re-energize the kid, who excitedly looked at the doctor. "Really!?"

He chuckled. "Definitely! With time and training, I dare say you could rival Endeavor!"

Tears welled up in Izuku's eyes before he pounced and grabbed onto his mother, who cried tears of joy together with her son. Once again, the physician wondered if they really had one quirk.

'I did it Kacchan! I can be a hero like All Might!'

It took a while, but eventually, the Midoriyas exhausted their tears and the doctor was able to ask his final question. "Well kiddo, every quirk needs a name! What do you want to call yours?"

It only took Izuku a moment. "ALL FIRE!"

PFFFFFFT!

'A bit too obvious with the All Might fanboying dear!' Recovering from her spit take, Inko gently shook her head before reaching for her son. "Izuku dear, let's try another name, okay?"

"Awwwww … okay …"

"If I may," Began the physician, "I have a suggestion for the name. Wanna hear it kiddo?"

"Okay!" Replied Izuku. It was always nice to hear ideas!

"How about … Ignition?"

A/N: Welp, end of chapter one. Next up, Aldera Middle Speedrun! If there are any glaring issues, feel free to message me about them! I took a pretty long break from writing, and my past stories were… let's just say they weren't the best lol. If you're concerned about an OP!Izuku, then I would like to ask you to hold your verdict for at least a little while. Izuku's quirk is powerful, but I think Todoroki and Bakugo will still have him beat for a while. Yes, he will in some ways be stronger than canon Izuku, but there are trade-offs of his, namely, he doesn't have the sheer power of OFA or some of the versatility of all seven quirks. I'm partially modeling his powerset off the Dying Will Flames from Katekyo Hitman Reborn, not fully, but definitely a large enough amount to warrant a mention. Welp, till next time! Toodles!
