A/N: Yo! DestinySkyDemon here! Well, time for the first fight scene and some OOC-ness due to changed history. Put on some Dream music folks, we're speedrunning (skipping) Aldera! Let's see if I can still write a halfway decent fight scene. Side note, I'm also working on deciding how I'll refer to characters, so bear with me if there are some inconsistencies over the usage of western or eastern honorifics or the use of first or last names. But first, Kiddy Izuku and Katsuki!

Aldera

Today was a great day for Midoriya Izuku.

First, his friend Katsuki had awakened his quirk, which was awesome! He could make his hands go boom! He could only imagine how strong of a hero his friend would be! Then, his own quirk had awakened, and it was so cool too! He could light things on fire! Who doesn't like fire! He could even control it and make it move around, even better! Even the doctor said he could be a hero, and they're super smart!

After finishing his check-up, his mom had then decided that, since the kids had awakened their quirks together, they would be going over to Katsuki's house to celebrate! Extra awesome!

"Now now, Izuku," His mother giggled, watching her son bounce up and down as they walked over to the Bakugo household, "Save all that energy for playing with Katsuki, okay sweetie?"

"Okay Mom!"

Ten minutes later, they had arrived at the doorstep and were met with a warm greeting from the Bakugos.

"How's my favorite green bean doing?" Greeted Aunty Mitsuki, who ruffled said green bean's hair, much to his dismay. As he was released from her grasp, he quickly ran into the house, not before shouting a greeting to Uncle Masaru, to meet up with his friend.

After a short greeting from Uncle Masaru, the adults gathered together in the kitchen to finish preparing their dinner, which would have the favorite foods of both the kids. Inko's special katsudon for Izuku, and extra spicy curry for Katsuki.

''Super Awesome!'' Thought the kids in tandem. Truly, two inseparable peas in a pod.

A few minutes later, dinner was served, and everything went smoothly. That is until Izuku finished his katsudon and decided to try a bite of Katsuki's extra spicy curry.

"Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow … " Blowing on his tongue, Izuku hurriedly ran around looking for a carton of milk, much to the entertainment of his spectators. Katsuki especially was cackling, loudly proclaiming his superiority over those who couldn't handle spice.

Unbeknownst to Izuku, his hair spontaneously lit on fire for a few seconds, something he didn't notice as he hyperfocused on finding a remedy to his suffering. This wasn't missed by the others though, especially his mother, who quickly snapped a photo to be displayed for eternity, much to his future dismay. The Bakugos just laughed harder. Even worse, when he did find the milk carton in the fridge, it ended up being on the top shelf that he couldn't reach as a four-year-old.

Deciding to take mercy on the poor boy, Masaru got up and grabbed the milk, pouring a glass which Izuku promptly guzzled like a man in a desert.

'Never again!'

'So cute!' His mother gushed, snapping another picture, this time of his milk mustache that he hadn't noticed in his haste.

"So, Izuku," Began Masaru, his interest piqued at the display, "What's your quirk? Your mother said something about it being a combo of your parents' quirks, right?"

Mitsuki grinned. 'Midoriya Mutters in 3. 2. 1 … '

Like clockwork, Izuku began muttering.

"Oh Oh! My quirk is called Ignition! I can light things on fire like this!" Holding up the empty glass, he activated his quirk and set the glass ablaze, "I can make the fire go bigger," The fire grew to encompass his hands, flaring to about a foot high, "And even make it burn things, though I probably shouldn't use it on this glass since it wouldn't be nice and-"

Boom!

"My turn!" Shouted Katsuki, pointedly ignoring his mother's scolding over the usage of his quirk in the house and interrupting Izuku. He raised his palms for all to see, showing the sweat that had formed from eating the extra spicy curry. In a flash, the beads of sweat began to glow before crackling like fireworks. "My quirk's called Explosion, and the doctor said my hands sweat nitrogl- nitro- ni-"

"It's nitroglycerin brat!" His mother helpfully added.

"I knew that! My hands sweat nitro-whatever and I can make it explode whenever I want! Like this!" Raising his hands in the air, he ignored a shout of warning from his mother as he unleashed a large blast to emphasize his point-

BOOM! Crack! Crumble!

Only to look up and see that he'd hit the ceiling, blowing off part of the plaster and leaving a large black scorch mark.

" … "

" ... "

" … "

" … "

" … "

"Brat…" Katsuki trembled, an overwhelming feeling of foreboding and dread overcoming his every being, resulting in him immediately going ramrod straight at the sound of his mother's voice. Slowly turning his head around, the boy watched as his mother's hair seemed to shadow her eyes and her fists began to shake as a black aura seemed to emit from her.

''''Oh no…'''' Everyone but Katsuki, who was paralyzed in fear, slowly inched away from the matriarch. After all, one does not simply anger Bakugo Mitsuki.

"Because you just got your quirk today," She began, her head raising to show her immense glare which caused Katsuki to shake even harder, "I'm going to be nice and give you a head start. Ten. Nine. Eight-"

"Kacchan, run!"

Katsuki bolted. It didn't save him.

-Ignition-

"Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow … "

"Kacchan … Your mom is scary … "

"You think!?"

Nursing a comically large lump on his head, Katsuki sat in the living room with Izuku while the adults worked on repairing the ceiling. Izuku sighed. Somehow, it always ended this way every time Izuku visited. The kids would get engrossed in some activity - video games, household tag, playing hero and villain - and Katsuki would always try to show off and pull something reckless against his better judgment - he couldn't be seen as average, after all - and end up hurting himself or getting hurt after breaking something and being on the receiving end of his mother's wrath.

"Do you need help?"

"No! Just be quiet and let me deal with it myself."

A few minutes passed that way, with Katsuki periodically pouting and massaging the lump. Izuku clutched his All Might figurine close to his chest, wanting to break the silence but not quite knowing how to. Looking down at his toy, Izuku wondered what All Might would do in this situation. After all, All Might's the number one hero, he'd obviously know what to do about a little thing like awkward silences!

-Ignition-

A few cities away, All Might sneezed, landing an underpowered Detroit Smash on a random criminal that he had just been chasing down for robbing a bank.

'Am I coming down with a cold? I should really get David to redesign my suit to be warmer … seriously, what was I thinking wearing something this tight? Oh right, something as little as the weather couldn't possibly matter to the symbol of peace, I said … '

After handing the unconscious criminal over to the police, All Might moved on to the next place that needed him, a hostage situation that had recently developed a city over, resolving to contact his old friend at the end of the day.

-Ignition-

'Ah! I can talk about heroes!'

"Hey Kacchan?"

"What?"

"Do you think I can be a good hero with my quirk? I mean, I couldn't use my quirk for that long, I had to keep taking breaks at the hospital and it was super hard to burn some things and I just - "

"Oi, oi, Izuku!" He heard Katsuki snap, breaking out from the slouched position he had unconsciously assumed to look at his friend, who had walked over and began shaking his friend. "Honestly, you're such a Deku, what would you do without me … look, Izuku, you know stretchy fingers? How about clown-face? Or what about disco-hair? You think their quirks will let them be heroes?"

"I mean, I'm sure if they tried - "

Crackle!

"Dude, look," Katsuki continued, cutting off Izuku with his quirk before he could launch into a tirade of excuses to defend his classmates, "Those losers' quirks are lame, do you really think they can be cool like All Might when their nose looks like it came from a clown costume or their fingers stretch a little? Of course not! They're basically extras in a movie! But you know who's not lame?"

Taking a second to catch his breath, Katsuki looked Izuku dead in the eyes, lifting a hand and tapping him on the chest with a finger.

"You. Your quirk is awesome! Now, obviously mine is cooler-" A giggle came from Izuku. " - but yours is a close second! You can light things on fire! Think of all the villains you can burn! You and me, we're better than those losers- no, extras, we're better than those extras! We'll definitely become great heroes!"

Tears welled up in Izuku's eyes. Katsuki, the boy he always looked up to, the 'cool' kid that always was the best, his personal hero, had just said that he believed in him! Izuku never had that many friends, sure, he had some, but his general introverted awkwardness and muttering habit had turned many kids away. But here, right here, right now, his best friend had declared that they would become heroes.

He wiped the tears from his eyes while Katsuki snickered at his friend's crybaby habits, and gave his friend the biggest smile he'd ever given.

"Let's become heroes together Kacchan!"

"Heck yeah! But I'm going to be number one! You can be my sidekick."

"Nu uh, I'm going to be number one!"

"No, I will!"

"I will!"

-Ignition-

Eleven years later, it was a normal day at Aldera Middle School.

"Oh who am I kidding, you all want to be heroes!"

Until it wasn't.

The classroom erupted in cheers as all the students jumped out of their seats and used their quirks. Eyeballs stretched out, fingers grew longer, hair changed color, someone even turned into a disco ball! Everyone cheered, excited at their future prospects. That is, everyone but two people.

"Alright, settle down kids, remember you're not allowed to use your quirks during class time - "

BOOM!

"SHUT UP! Hey sensei, don't lump me with all these losers! Except for Deku, none of you shitty extras can even hope to compare to me!"

As his class roared back in indignation, Izuku sighed in exasperation, resting his cheek in the palm of his hand.

'Honestly, will Katsuki ever stop using that childish nickname? It's so embarrassing! One time … only one time Kacchan makes a joke that I would be useless without him, and he's run with it ever since … though, I don't really have any legs to stand on, do I … it's not like I'll ever stop calling him Kacchan.'

Not to mention, Katsuki's behavior was a lost cause as well … sure, he'd managed to curb it a little bit, stepping in early on to prevent Katsuki from bullying others as he was the only friend Katsuki actually listened to seriously, but there was nothing he could do about his friend's ever evolving vernacular. It seemed he took after his mother as he grew up … maybe a little bit too much…

'Aunty Mitsuki, this is your fault!'

It was a wonder how Katsuki still had friends … okay, maybe it wasn't. Sure, he had an explosive temper and a vocabulary that could outdo a sailor, but he was still extroverted and bombastic, striving for absolute dominance and perfection in such a manner that people couldn't help but admire. People knew Katsuki was destined for greatness, and the bastard damn well knew it too, proclaiming he would surpass even All Might. Only one person in the grade could keep him in check, so unfortunately the responsibility fell on Izuku to try to curb his friend's ego. Yeah, good luck with that.

"Ah Bakugo, you and Midoriya are aiming for U.A, aren't you?"

"You're damn right we are!"

Izuku could only listen in confusion as the classroom exploded again in chatter. It wasn't like Katsuki had ever made it a secret that he was aiming for the top … heck, he'd done the exact opposite! So was it any wonder that he would aim for the top, to attend the school that produced the greatest heroes in Japan?

Naturally, Izuku would be right by his brother in all but blood, standing right by his side as he took the world by storm.

-Ignition-

"Yo, Midoriya! Wanna go to the arcade later?"

Looking up from packing up his bookbag, saw some of his classmates hanging around to chat after being officially dismissed, fervently discussing what they'd do on the weekends. Naturally, as one of the two most promising prospects to grace the school in decades, Izuku was sought out quite frequently, though he always declined.

"Sorry guys, I have some plans after school! Maybe next time?"

"Aw again? Well, good luck on whatever you're doing man!"

"Thanks!"

He preferred to just stick around Katsuki, feeling rather uncomfortable with how his classmates would attempt to, in the words of the blonde, kiss his ass every time he went out with them. Katsuki may bask in the attention, but Izuku preferred to stay in the background … well, he would, if not for Katsuki repeatedly dragging his ass to his side. In his words, he wouldn't let his brother fade into the background like a random extra, not when they had swore to become the best of the best as children.

"Oi Deku, get your ass over here! We're burning daylight here with these extras!"

"Coming!"

As they hurriedly left the building, he couldn't help but imagine what life would be like without his bond with Katsuki. It had been a constant through his life, this friendship and brotherhood, to imagine life without it…

'No point in dwelling on this.'

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, he refocused his efforts on keeping up with Katsuki. Honestly, would it kill his friend to slow down a little? Not everything in life was a competition … except when it came to limited edition All Might merchandise. No one gets in the way of Izuku and his merchandise.

-Ignition-

As they passed by the underpass on their way home, discussing their thoughts on the newest installment of the popular Heroes Smash! games, Katsuki couldn't help but feel something was amiss. Subtly squaring his shoulders and readying his hands in his pockets, he scanned their surroundings, his red eyes taking note of their environment incase of an upcoming battle. Perhaps it was from all the little fights he had as a kid, growing up with a fierce temper and attitude like his, or maybe it was his sheer natural reflexes, but Katsuki's senses were honed to an extreme, constantly on alert for something to happen.

Noticing a trembling from the manhole cover to their right, his eyes widened as he only had a split second to react, grabbing his friend and throwing him off the side. As he did so, the manhole covering burst, a deluge of translucent green slime surging out from within and towards the boys.

"Two medium sized bodies … to hide in … which one to choose … "

"Get down!"

BOOM!

Activating his quirk, he unleashed a blast that managed to push back the villain for an instant. Not letting the villain recover, Katsuki rushed forward, seeking to overwhelm the villain and knock him out before anything could happen. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't so lucky.

"A body with a strong quirk … I must have it … I MUST HAVE IT!"

Recovering far faster than expected, the slime surged forward once more, catching Katsuki off guard. The blonde tried to abort, unleashing another explosion to damage and rebound away from the villain -

"DIE!"

But the battle hadn't gone on long enough, Katsuki's sweat glands not producing to their full capacity. Inadequate, the amount of sweat didn't push him far enough away.

'Shit! Explosion doesn't do enough damage to blow him away before he reforms!'

The slime's body contorted and surged forward, latching onto his arm and steadily climbing towards him. No matter how much he clawed and blasted, the liquid would only reform and climb even higher.

"Your body is mine, kid!"

The villain surged, ready to consume Katsuki in a tidal wave of slime -

FWOOSH!

Only to be cut off as a wall of viridescent flames shot up to block his path, incinerating and severing the tendril that had ensnared Katsuki.

"What the - "

"Get. Away. From. My.FRIEND!"

Ten feet away, Izuku's backpack lay forgotten, its contents spilled on the ground as the owner remained in a crouched position, a hand outstretched to contact the floor.

Slamming his other hand onto the ground, Izuku activated Ignition once more, glaring at the villain as he focused on sections of the tunnel directly between the slime villain and Katsuki. Locking onto the desired area, he reached within and ignited.

Over the years, Izuku had discovered that he was able to partially ignite sections of objects. This proved to be especially useful, as it allowed him to set off the ground around him without needing to try to ignite the rest of the Earth.

In front of Katsuki, a wall of flames roared into existence, erupting from the ground and hitting the underside of the overpass, creating an impassable barrier for the villain. Where explosions could only deal damage in single distinct instances, thus allowing the villain time to reform and recuperate, fire had no such issue, dealing contiguous damage that would latch on and incinerate any offending limb that tried to reach through the flames. Normally he wouldn't take such drastic measures, but given the villain's biology and the situation at hand, it was warranted.

"Tch, took you long enough Deku!"

"Not yet!"

Izuku quickly estimated the length of the tunnel, focusing on the segment of flooring that would be around ten feet farther down the tunnel, just around the edge of his activation range. Initializing his quirk, another wall of viridescent flames roared into existence, cutting the villain off from escaping out the other side of the tunnel. Trapped in a box of concrete and flames, the villain had nowhere to go, ready to be captured by whatever hero would arrive.

"You done, Deku?"

Breathing a sigh of relief, Izuku stood up and rubbed his hands, small scrapes littering his palms from his friend's toss and him mindlessly slamming his hands onto concrete. Next to him, Katsuki grimaced, shaking and patting down his arm to rid it of any excess residue that the villain may have left behind.

"Tch, can't believe that fucker almost got the better of me."

"To be fair Kacchan, his quirk was a really bad matchup for you - "

"Shut it." Katsuki growled. Izuku just sighed. It was always like this, every time Katsuki failed at something or underperformed, he would always be grouchy and irritable. Immediately afterward, he would commit on a warpath to fix whatever mistake he had to assert his dominance. A classic Katsuki maneuver.

"Thanks for the save though," Izuku replied, "Otherwise he would have probably gotten me, and who knows how messy that would have gotten. I can hold this for maybe another hour, you should go get a hero. Honestly, I never would have expected to have been attacked … from … a … sewer … OH SHIT!"

Quickly catching on to his friend's realization, both boys whirled around to look at the wall of flames, which Izuku quickly dismissed, ready to reignite it in an instant. As the flames receded, they expected to see the worst -

Only to instead be blindsided by an unexpected sight.

"TEXAS SMASH!"

They watched as their idol, All Might, obliterated the villain in an instant, scattering the poor fool into hundreds of droplets of slime that splattered against the walls. Looking up, the number one hero saw the two boys' shocked expressions.

""ALL MIGHT!?"" They shouted in tandem.

"I AM HERE! Well done gentlemen, excellent work containing the villain! It definitely made my job much simpler!"

"OMG OMG Kacchan! All Might is right in front of us! Quick, where is my notebook?! I need to get his autograph - "

"Already done young man!" Exiting out of his frantic muttering streak, Izuku looked up and saw that All Might was right in front of him, holding up his latest notebook with a large signature of 'ALL MIGHT' written across two pages.

'I am making this a family heirloom and nothing is going to stop me.'

Snapping out of his daze, Katsuki heavily resisted the urge to fanboy just as hard as Izuku. He was not about to look like a dork in front of his idol! Instead, he looked over at the villain, splattered against the wall in a manner that almost looked like a poor imitation of a Jackson Pollock painting from the pre-quirk era.

'Play it cool, play it cool.'

"Hey All Might," He cut in, gaining the hero's attention. He gestured with a thumb over his shoulder at the unconscious biomass. "How are you going to contain him? I don't think handcuffs are going to do anything to the bastard."

"Ah, an excellent observation young man! But first, do you want to chug some soda?"

"Uh, sure … "

Confused, Katsuki accepted the hero's offer, taking the offered two liter soda and chugging it down for all it was worth. After he finished, he watched in awe as All Might zoomed around the tunnel, capturing every drop of the villain within the empty bottle. Capping off the bottle, the hero looked back at the boys, seeing Izuku holding his notebook in near holy reverence as Katsuki looked at him slack jawed.

'These kids … they're definitely special. It's not every day a pair of middle schoolers can hold off a villain attack, especially a villain with a quirk as complicated as this one - '

Cough!

'Shit! My time limit! I'll have to wrap this up quickly!'

Wiping his mouth and discretely covering the blood on his palm, All Might quickly bid the kids farewell as he lept away.

"Farewell gentlemen! Maybe I'll see you again, as excellent heroes in the future!"

As he left, Izuku felt that something was off, having seen the hero briefly grimace as he'd wiped something from his mouth. He thought he'd caught sight of something red on the hero's palm, but he must have been seeing things.

'There's no way All Might is sick! Anyway, I have to tell mom! She's going to flip! Wait … '

"KACCHAN, ALL MIGHT SAID WE'D BE EXCELLENT HEROES! ALL MIGHT!"

"HELL YEAH WE ARE!"

With that, Izuku beckoned Katsuki to move, the boys quickly hurrying back to their respective homes to tell their families about what they had experienced that day.

A/N: AAAAANNNNDDD finish! So, how'd I do? Damn, this chapter ended up being double the previous one's length. I know the fight scene was short, but I felt it illustrated the basics of Izuku's combat abilities and approach to combat. What about the earlier scenes? Do you think my characterization of Katsuki was good? Did I change him too much? Leave a comment, I'd love to read it! Again, feel free to point out any glaring issues! Alright, next up, Entrance Exam! Maybe. Depends on how the writing pans out, but the exam should be either next chapter or the one after it. Welp, till next time, Toodles!
