"Oh my God, Dianne look at this!" Lisbeth, the school secretary said waving a piece of paper like it was personally offending her.

Dianne took it and saw why she was reacting that way, it was a doctor's excuse for Tim Drake from the free clinic in Crime Ally. Bruce Wayne, Billionaire took Tim who was obviously sick to the free clinic in the worst part of Gotham. Did he care enough to put on a good show for her and then dump Tim off at the free clinic when no one was looking?

"I swear if I thought it would do any good I'd kidnap that child and raise him myself. It's not right, Dianne. He deserves better than scraps, he deserves to be loved and cared about!"

"I don't understand why the free clinic was Wayne afraid that an antibiotic prescription would bankrupt him? I'm calling him right now," Dianne immediately dialed the number he gave her and tapped her fingers on the wooden desk.

After three rings Wayne picked up the phone, "Hello, who is this?" a groggy voice asked.

"Hello, this is Dianne Higgins the school nurse at Gotham Academy, is this Bruce Wayne?" She said in her voice she had perfected over the years of working with the general public in Gotham city.

"Oh, yes, sorry about that. This is Bruce. Did you get the doctor's excuse I had faxed over?" Bruce said and Dianne rolled her eyes. He wasn't even going to make any excuses for the free clinic in Crime Alley.

"Oh yes, I did get it. I just wanted to check on Tim and make sure he was alright," Dianne replied.

"Tim's doing fine now. I told him he had to be completely healed up before he could go back to school and the talk about bullies went over great. He told me he would let the school know if he had any trouble with them. If you don't need anything else I have something I need to attend to," and the man hung up on her without any more to say.

"Well, Lisbeth, he did talk Tim to the free clinic, after all, talked about bullies and had something urgent to attend to. I swear that man is up to something," Dianne said to Lisbeth.

Lisbeth crossed her arms, "I thought Bruce Wayne was different than all the other parents that sell their soul for money and no, he's worse. I can't imagine what really happened to Jason Todd if he's doing this to someone who hasn't been adopted by him. Do you think he's the one that gave him those bruises?"

"I don't know Lisbeth, and you don't either. I don't want to scare Tim away this time if he's in trouble we need to let him know that we can and will help him."

Dianne found all of Tim's teacher's and talked to each of them privately with the troubling news that in the past three months Tim had become withdrawn, quieter, his grades had stayed up, but he fell asleep in class. It could be any number of things. Tim could be safe staying with Bruce Wayne.

Her mind was coming up with the worst possible things that could happen to Timmy. She let him go once and she wouldn't make that mistake again.

Meanwhile in Wayne Manor

"Alfred, Gotham academy called about Tim. I think the nurse believed that it was bullies that gave Tim those bruises," Bruce said mulling over the conversation wondering what decent human called at 9:22 am it was too early for him to be up.

"Master Tim, had bruises showing?" Alfred asked while putting the finishing touches on the breakfast that was on the table scooting the orange juice slightly closer to Bruce.

"Yes, unfortunately, a few nights ago he was shot, thankfully the Kevlar protected him but left bruises behind. The school nurse mentioned it and I said something about bullies to cover for it. I still can't believe he tried to hide that stab wound until he passes out in the middle of English class. Leslie said that even with the combination of antibiotics he's on it's going to take time to get the infection under control," Bruce mused. "I don't want to think what would have happened if he was all alone in that house when he passed out."

"I do wish Master Tim felt at home enough able to tell us when he's hurt. I do hope you will tell him that he gets hints as well as you do." Alfred stated with a glare.

"I will. I need to call Leslie and get her to extend the note until Tim is off the IV antibiotics. I'll tell him after I talk to her," Bruce promised unknowing that his name was quickly becoming mud at Gotham Academy.
