Two weeks later the boys and Lucy had recovered from the flu they had caught. Noah had gone back to school and Raf to work, one night Raf got home after work to find mother and son on the couch. Raf walked over, sitting beside Liv.
"How was your day mi amores?"
"Good." Liv whispered, laying her head on his shoulder.
Raf kissed her head and rubbed circles on her stomach.
"Mijo?"
Noah shrugged.
Raf looked at Liv, as Noah moved to lay on top of him.
"Principal called, he got a headache around 9, had a meltdown around 10. His teacher called me and I had Lucy get him. I came home after interviewing a vic."
"How are you feeling now buddy?"
"Better now that you are home." Noah's voice was muffled from having his face tucked into Raf's chest.
Raf rubbed his back and looked at Liv.
"Do you know what caused it?"
Noah sat up on Raf's lap, looking between both of them.
"You said Papi had gone into work early…. I didn't realize it wasn't that big of a deal until I missed you. I got a headache around 9, and I guessed I panicked and the next thing I knew Lucy was there to take me home."
"Oh mijo, I'm sorry." Raf pulled him into his chest, looking over at Liv.
Liv rolled to her side throwing an arm around both. Raf could feel the baby kick his side. He looked at Liv and kissed her.
"I guess you felt that?" Liv asked.
Raf nodded, tears in his eyes, for years he never thought he wanted or would have a family. Now he had one, a growing one.
"When is the next appointment?"
"Tomorrow. We have the day off, and I was thinking Noah could too."
"I have a late work meeting with Rita around 4." Raf lied, well it wasn't all work-related.
After getting Noah settled into bed for the night, with a promise that Raf would be the one to wake him, Noah fell asleep. Raf and Liv cuddled up and drifted off to sleep. The next morning, Raf quietly made his way into Noah's room.
"Mijo, mijo."
Noah slowly opened his eyes.
"You want to sleep some more?"
Noah nodded.
Raf kissed his head and went out to the kitchen.
"I'm worried about him, Liv."
"He's getting to that age of wanting to sleep later, Rafa."
"I know. But I think it's something else." Raf sighed.
About an hour later Noah finally got out of bed. Raf decided to have a chat with him to find out what the matter was.
"What's going on buddy?"
"I'm afraid."
"Of what?"
"You're leaving again."
Raf sighed.
"Noah that's in the past, I'm not leaving again I swear."
Noah shrugged.
Raf shook his head, got up, motioning him to get up.
"Follow me. I want to show you something."
Noah followed him to his home office, Raf sat at his desk pulling out paperwork and a small box.
"What is that?" Noah asked.
"See for yourself."
Noah looked at the paperwork.
"Adoption papers?" He opened up the box, which had a 4-carat ring in it.
"I want to marry your mom, adopt you so she, you, and the new baby will all legally have my name."
Noah smiled and hugged him tightly.
"Love you, Papi."
"Love you too, Mijo. I'm not going anywhere."
