A/N: I know this was supposed to be posted yesterday, but Sonic the Hedgehog 2 came out and we promised our kids we'd take them. So we ended up out all day. Well, this is the ending chapter, and the wrap up of Dendy Week!

When Dreams are Realities

Dendy Week 2022

Day 7

He flicked his wrist and Motoki slammed against the opposite wall.

Usagi's hands went up to her mouth, muffling her scream.

Bringing his hand to her face, he brushed her cheek with the back of his hand; she squeaked upon contact.

"Don't be afraid," he said apathetically. "You never have to fear me." He bent down and kissed her forehead. "I will never hurt you."

Usagi wanted nothing more to run, but her body refused to move. Her muscles were rigid, scared if she were to stirr, even if just a little, he'd attack.

"What you've been experiencing," Mamoru spoke loudly, his speech directed to Motoki, despite standing in front of Usagi. "It's called a waking dream." He ran his fingers through her blonde hair. "Along with telekinesis, I was born with the power to manipulate dreams. It doesn't sound very interesting I know, but I've learned it can be one of the most powerful tools. Dreams and memories are linked to one another." Taking the length of her hair in his hands he pressed it to his nose and inhaled. "I tricked everyone to think that their dreams are reality and their reality is"-Turning his face to Motoki, the straw-haired man could see Endo's red eyes were gone- "a dream."

"Everyone but you of course." Mamoru returned his gaze to Usagi, who still hadn't moved. "Not you." He pressed his lips to her forehead again. Endo could still feel her trembling. "My poor bunny." He wrapped his arms around her shaking frame. "I'm sure this is all overwhelming.

"He really is my best friend, you know." Mamoru stated looking back at Usagi. His eyes returned to Motoki. "We really did grow up together and I really did go to America and come back with a doctorate. I want you to know this because I want you to know my affection for you Motoki is true."

"En…do" Motoki struggled to speak, his jaw ached as it moved.

"Did you know the human responds to extreme danger in one of three ways? Fight, flight, or freeze." Mamoru released Usagi and took several steps toward Motoki.

"Then" - Motoki wheezed- "Why?"

"She took flight."

Endo had been looking forward to seeing Motoki again. He hadn't seen his best friend in four years. They had decided to meet at the arcade, the same one they frequented as kids and the one Motoki now managed.

The doors swished open and he immediately heard Motoki's voice. Taking off his sunglasses he gave his best friend a wide smile. Their greeting lasted only a few seconds before Motoki brought forth a tiny blonde and introduced her as his girlfriend.

The moment he cast his eyes on her he was mesmerized. She bowed. But a simple bow wouldn't get him as close as he wanted. He extended his hand and waited for her to take it. As soon as her skin touched his, he felt an immediate pull. There was something about her that was different. It was calling to him.

In the beginning he attempted to ignore the strange desire she brought forth. But the more he was around her, the more his infatuation grew. He watched her frequently, following her through her day. His need for her grew until it grew to be unbearable. Thus he started his seduction. It never occurred to him that she'd reject him.

Somehow, she'd sensed he was not normal. It was as if she knew he was a wolf in sheep's clothing. And so she ran, ran to Motoki and told him of his leering. The bunny then hopped away, staying far from his reach. He still followed her, but he didn't approach her; he'd have to find a way out of her deep loyalty to Motoki and dispel her fear.

It was then that he came up with his plan. He'd create a dreamscape that would be mistaken for reality and reality would be mistaken for dreams.

But once again, he hadn't foreseen her fierce loyalty and her natural instinct. Despite having everyone around her refute her memories, she held onto them; fighting. Trying her hardest to disprove the reality he'd built for her.

"What?" Motoki croaked. The pressure on his neck and jaw had lessened enough to speak without struggling for air.

"I love her. And she loved you." Endo sighed. "She wasn't responding to any of my attempts to win her over."

"That's Usagi, she'd never hurt-"

"Exactly! Which is one of the reasons I love her. The absolute pure heart she has. And I realized no matter what I did, if you were still in the picture she'd never love me. But I couldn't hurt you." He paused.

"I mean, obviously I can. I'll rephrase. I didn't want to. So I created this absolutely elaborate dreamscape that enabled me to play with everyone's memories and have you believe that what you lived were dreams and what you dreamt were real. It was working. She loves me, which is why she's so broken. She feels she's betrayed you and me. Now here we are." He gestured between the two of them. "Two men who love the same woman."

"What have you done to her?" Motoki's forest green eyes were staring at the trembling blonde.

Mamoru turned his head. Usagi was still in the same position, staring off into the distance.

"She's in shock. It's not everyday someone finds out their fiance isn't completely human." His navy gaze turned back to the friend he had pinned against the wall. "That and she's already gone through the first two responses, both of which were unsuccessful. She fled and hid behind you, then she fought to accept this new reality, and now she's frozen."

"Usa-chan," Motoki called. Before he could ask if she was alright, Endo had his hand wrapped around his throat. How Mamoru had moved so quickly, he didn't know. But then again, the man had declared he was not completely human.

"Her name is Usagi-chan, to you."

"Stop."

Both Mamoru and Motoki immediately looked toward the voice. The ice was finally thawing. Her pupils were no longer blown, but steady and normal. Her hands clutched at the collar of her shirt.

"Stop hurting him." Endo's hand dropped from Motoki's neck.

"Done." He obeyed. She closed her eyes briefly before making the next command.

"Put him down."

Mamoru hesitated, unsure if he should let Motoki go.

"Please put him down," she asked.

Motoki fell painfully on his bottom.

"Done." There was a pregnant silence; both men waiting for her.

"You made me think I was crazy." Endo's midnight eyes softened.

"That wasn't my intention," he sounded almost regretful, "I didn't want you to doubt yourself to such an extreme."

"But you did. You…you let me think that I was losing my mind. I…I was actually going to medicate myself for.-" she stopped. She was going to do it for them because she didn't want to hold onto something fake. She didn't want to miss Motoki and the life they had when she'd been told it wasn't real. She wanted to give herself completely to the man she thought was her 'fiancé' because she truly loved him. Loves him? Loved? She didn't know anymore.

"I…I didn't know that."

Motoki watched the exchange quietly. He didn't want to get up, part of him knew by doing so would risk Mamoru's anger.

"Didn't you?" Usagi's voice was quiet, demure; something Motoki expected. He had spent four years loving her. He knew her, knew her heart. And he could hear the hurt in the timber of her voice.

"You were controlling everyone. You made them-"

"No," Endo cut her off. "I did not control anyone. I only manipulated their minds into believing the dreams I designed were real. What they did and said, that was not controlled by me."

"Why?" she implored, her voice growing louder. "Why would you do this? And...and why didn't you alter my memories too!"

"If you had," Motoki added. "She wouldn't be feeling like this. She wouldn't feel so broken." Mamoru glared at the man on the floor before walking to Usagi. Fresh tears fell down her swollen cheeks as she searched his eyes.

"Why?"

"I already told you," he said, brushing the tears away. "I wanted you to love me. I want your sincere love; not a fabricated one," he cupped her heart shaped face.

"What you've done…" she placed her hands on his wrists. "You are not a good person."

"I can be if that's what you want. I can be whatever you want. Just tell me what you want."

"I want you to stop this."

"Done."

"Just like that?"

"Just like that," he confirmed. It was difficult to believe that everyone suddenly remembered the truth, but the look in his blue eyes told her that it was done.

"Let us go," she whispered.

"And by us, you mean?" His brow rose.

"Motoki and I." Mamoru's hands fell from her face and his eyes flashed red. But this time, she wasn't surprised to see them. It was almost like she expected it. Motoki however, did not. The man's protective instincts came alive and he immediately stood.

"Usa!"

"You!" Endo roared. The straw haired blonde was up in the air again, his toes just brushing the floor "Are not" -the red deepened into crimson- "part" -Motoki's airway constricted- "of this" -he spat- "conversation."

"Stop!" Usagi shouted, attempting to run to Motoki who was turning blue. "You said you'd stop!"

Swiftly, Endo had one arm wrapped around her waist with the other around her back. He buried his head in her neck.

Motoki dropped to the floor again, gasping for air.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" he apologized, hugging her close. "Don't leave me Usako, please. I love you"

She wasn't sure what to do. Mamoru held her so tight, his face pressed against her throat.

Nearby she could hear Motoki on all fours, coughing. Her eyes darted over to her 'real' boyfriend. He was struggling to stand. His neck looked raw. Mamoru had done that, Mamoru had hurt his best friend.

"You hurt Toki. You said he was your best friend."

"He is." Mamoru still had his head on her shoulder.

"Then why are you hurting him? Friends don't hurt each other, not on purpose. When you love someone, you want to protect them." She felt his body shift against hers. "You betrayed everyone. You took their lives and you warped it."

"Not everything," he whispered. "I only altered their memories of you and Motoki, nothing else. I just needed a chance" -he pulled away to look into her eyes- "to show you, I will make you happy."

"You" -wheeze- "are" -wheeze- "a demon," Motoki finally stood. He had his hands on his hips, his chest pushed out, taking deep breaths. "You'll hurt everyone. Put us all in some sort of…" he paused. "Whatever this is. "And whether or not you mean to, you will hurt Usa."

Endo growled, his eyes flared again, burning bright. "I will never hurt her'' -his gaze returned to Usagi, his eyes returning to its navy spectrum- "I will never hurt you. Not if I can help it"

"I believe you," she whispered back. Then, very slowly, she took his hands off her.

"Please," Mamoru's voice strained.

"Mamo-chan…you said you'd do anything for me? Do you mean it?"

"I will do anything…except" he paused, "let you go."

"When you said that you were…you were going to hurt Toki-"

"I'd prefer you refer to him as Motoki or Furuhata. It's inappropriate for my fiance to call a man by such a close intimate pet name."

"She's not your fiance Endo."

"Motoki," Mamoru hissed. "I'm growing irritated with your constant interrupting." He sighed. "Honestly, I was going to kill him." Usagi's gasped horrified. "Usako, you must understand," he tried to explain. "With Motoki around you'll never truly be mine, and you'll never truly be his anymore. You'll only be torn between us."

"Then…do what you did to them, to me. Make me think that my dreams are realities; make me forget all this." He only shook his head. He brushed her hair back.

"That is one other thing I will not do. I will not use my power on you."

"Why not!" she cried loudly. She pushed him as hard as she could. "You made me love you and now I-" She fell to the floor and wept. Motoki rushed to her side, pulling her into his arms.

Remembering his promise, Endo refrained from hurting his best friend. Instead he bent down to be near her.

"Go away," she said between sobs. "I want you to go away."

"There is no one in the world who will love you more than I do." he promised her. "I will come back for you," he kissed her forehead.

"Please, just…go away."

"Done." And with the last word, he had disappeared.

She wept even more and Motoki held her, kissing her on the crown. He didn't tell her it was going to be okay, because he wasn't sure himself. He had no idea what was going to happen, he could only hope that whatever it was, would not cause Usagi pain.

Fortunately, two years from now his hope would be fulfilled, Endo's return did not cause her pain…unfortunately, the pain that would be inflicted would be on Motoki.

I know, you must be like, what kind of ending is that? But look, the truth is, this isn't actually the last chapter. There is actually one more. So I lied about this being done. Sorry! I just couldn't wrap it up all in one chapter!
