Chapter 2: Ceremony Breaking

Back in the room of floating coffins and the large mirror in the center, the room is actually known as the Mirror Chamber where the orientation is being held. There are many different students wearing the same robes the girl is wearing.

The first to speak up, is a boy with red hair wearing his hood, but able to show his face, and his silver eyes.

He says, "We're done with orientation and dorm assignments?"

Then announces, "All right, new students-let me be clear. At Heartslabyul House, I am the law. Break the rules, and it's off with your head!"

The next to speak up is a muscular young man, he has thick, messy brown hair with two braids on either side, green eyes, a thin scar going from his left eyebrow to his cheek, and has light brown lion ears.

He yawns and says, "Well, that ceremony was boring as ever. I'm going back to the dorm. If you're in Savanaclaw House, follow me."

Next, there is another boy with wavy silver-blue hue hair, parted to the right and has a lock of long hair along the left side of his face. His eyes are a darker color than his hair, kind of a sky blue hue, and glasses.

He says, "New students! Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your achievement. As dorm leader of Octavnelle House, I am honored to have the opportunity to support you in what I hope will be a fulfilling campus experience."

Then, there is a handsome young man with blonde shoulder-length hair and violet eyes.

He soon asks, "Hey, does anyone know where the headmage went? He disappeared midway through the ceremony…"

Then, there is a small tablet with a blue and light blue triangle symbol appear.

It says, "Some headmage he is."

The next boy is very ornate, wearing earrings. He has short choppy pearl gray hair with garnet color eyes.

He suggests, "Maybe he had a tummy ache?

Just then, the door opens, and Crowley enters as he sternly says, "I most certainly did not!"

He walks inside the room holding the rope that has Grim tied and the young girl, hiding deeply in the hood. She slowly takes a peek to see the students wearing hoods, but she notices something strange. She begins to notice that the students wearing the hoods are boys. Not a single girl in sight.

The redhead boy notices them and says "Ah, speak of the devil."

"If you must know, I was searching for the new student who'd failed to show up for orientation," Crowley says.

Then turns to the girl, "You are the only one who has yet to be assigned a dorm. Step up to the Dark Mirror, and be quick about it. I'll watch your cat."

Grim growls in anger, but can't scream because he's gagged with the rope.

The girl gulps nervously and decides to step forward to the mirror, the Dark Mirror.

Just then, the Dark Mirror makes fire in it, and reveals a glowing green mask with black designs around the eyes.

It says, "State your name."

The girl slowly takes a deep breath and calmly says, "I'm Briar… Briar Hawthorne."

Just then, the Dark Mirror says, "Briar Hawthorne… the nature of your soul is…"

The Dark Mirror looks at the girl Briar. The girl and everyone else in the room wait patiently.

Just then, the mirror says, "Unclear to me."

That catches everyone's attention, especially Crowley who asks, "What did you just say?"

Then the Dark Mirror says, "I sensed a spark of magical power from this one, but… appear to be sealed."

"Sealed?" The girl says in thought.

"Sealed?" Crowley questions.

"The magic she possessed has been sealed by an unknown magic. Sealed Sound. Sealed Color. Sealed Shape. Unable to be identified… Therefore, no dorm would be appropriate," The Dark Mirror says.

Soon all the students begin to mutter among themselves, trying to understand the situation.

Especially Briar, "I have magic? But how… I've… I've never had magic before."

Then Crowley asks, "Are you suggesting that the black carriage went and receive a person who had his powers sealed away? But that is absurd! The student selection process has not erred once in its century of existence!"

He then begins to think, "How could this have happened?"

Unknown to Crowley, Grim continues to struggle and muffles, until he is able to break free with a gasp for air.

Then Grim quickly says, "Me! Let ME have this student's seat!"

Briar begins to wonder the same thing.

Seeing him escape, Crowley shouts, "Not so fat, you hyperactive cat!"

"Unlike that human, I can actually use magic! So let me be a student here!" Grim says, giving Briar a smirk with his arms crossed.

Briar calmly glares at him and thinks to herself, "Just because I can't use magic, doesn't mean I can't handle myself."

Just then, Grim shouts, "Look, I'll show you! My spells are the cat's meow!"

The red Headed boy shouts, "Everyone, get down!"

Grim shouts, "Myaahhh!"

And unleash his blue fire, and ends up spreading everyone.

The boy with the red eyes screams, "AHHHHH! HELP! I'm on fire over here!"

Then the boy with the red eyes runs away in a panic, trying to get the fire out.

Crowley shouts, "Someone catch that blasted animal before it sets the entire school ablaze!"

The boy with the lion ears asks, annoyed, "Ugh. Can I go now, or…?"

Then the handsome boy says, "Oh? I thought you fancied yourself a hunter. Go and help yourself to that plump little morsel."

But the boy with the lion ears says, "Too much effort. Do it yourself."

Then the boy with glasses says, "Allow me to handle this, Headmage Crowley. If none of you are up to the task of catching a small animal, I will accept the responsibility."

Then the tablet says, "WTG Azul. Rackin' up those participation credits."

Then the boy with the red eyes screams, "Hey, um, my butt's still on fire… Could someone maybe put this out?"

Briar quickly hurries and says, "Drop to the ground and roll over, it will help put the fire out."

"Uh okay…" The boy with red eyes says, skeptical, but decides to listen.

He drops to the ground and rolls around like a rolling pin. In a short amount of time, the fire on him has been put out, and then rolls on his back to sit himself up and gives Briar a thumbs up. Briar is relieved to have helped him.

She then turns her head to see the creepy cat creature calling himself Grim is causing a lot of trouble here.

"I'm sorry, were my instructions unclear?!" The Headmage questions, annoyed.

The boy with lion ears sighs, "Pretty sure you can handle catching one mangy cat all on your lonesome there, headmage."

Just then, Grim shouts, "How many times do I gotta say it? I'm Grim, spellcaster extraordinaire! I am not a cat!"

The boy Azul says, "Aren't you a spunky little fellow?"

Then turns to the red haired boy, "Riddle, would you be so kind…?"

The boy, Riddle says, "Furry miscreant. I will abide no rule-breaking. You will be judged by my hand."

With that, the boys Azul and Riddle run towards Grim as he breathes and throws blue fire all over the chamber.

Grim shouts, "Check it out! See how strong I am?!"

Riddle hurries to the cat and uses a strange black pen with a red gem on it and fires at the cat.

The magic shots close to Grim, making him panic, "Whoa, whoa, whoa!"

"Very brazen of you to go on breaking the rules in my presence," Riddle says.

Azul approaches him, "Shall we make this quick, then? I'm afraid we don't have much time to spare."

Riddle and Azul begin to chase after Grim. The cat creature sees the magic attacks and begins to run away from them, dodging the attack. Grim continues to run and dodge the attacks. Briar and the others watch to see the two students trying to catch the rascal causing the trouble.

He stops and begins laughing, "HA HAAA! You couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!"

Riddle is not amused, "Tch. Not exactly a seamless team effort."

Then turns to Azul, "Azul, you need to time your magic to match mine."

Azul shrugs his shoulders and says, "Here's a better idea: Why don't you match yours with mine instead?"

The two begin to get into an argument.

Grim begins to throw fires as he says, "See?! I'm a WAY better mage than both of these guys combined!"

Briar grows serious and says, "Alright that's it. Someone has to stop that cat before he causes any more trouble."

Without a second thought, Briar begins to run towards the cat to catch it.

The boy with the red eyes called, "Wait, you can't stop him without getting burned! You don't have magic to defend yourself!"

The boy with the lion ears smirk to see the magic less human plans on catching the cat without it.

"Hey you crazy cat! Stop right there!" Briar calls out.

Seeing the girl charging towards her, Grim begins to run away, which catches Riddle and Azul's attention.

"What's he doing? He doesn't have any magic and yet he still tries to catch that beast," Azul says.

"Doesn't matter, we have to stop that creature before it causes more trouble," Riddle says.

With that, Riddle and Azul continue to give chase as they follow after Briar as she chases Grim.

"Get back here you stupid cat! Get back here!" Briar shouts.

"No way! Not until I get myself into this school!" Grim shouts back.

Briar continues to chase after Grim. She soon notices Riddle and Azul have caught up with her.

"You should get to safety, it's not safe for you to get close to that," Riddle says.

"Yes. Let us handle this. You don't have magic so you can't defend yourself," Azul says.

"I think I handle myself. Right now we gotta corner that cat before it cause any more trouble," Briar says.

"Well, don't say we didn't warn you," Azul comments.

The three continue to chase after the little trouble maker.

Grim then turns around and shouts, "Take this. Myaahhh!"

"Get down!" Briar shouts and pushes herself and the two students down as Grim fires his blue fire at them.

All three fall to the ground before the fire can touch them.

The boy with red eyes says, "That's gotta hurt."

Then the boy with the lion ears says, "Hmm, there's something off about that student…"

"Like what?" The handsome man asks.

"I can sense that the magic the student has is sealed, but something else is rather odd," The boy with the lion ears says.

Soon, Briar and the boys sit up and feel a bit of pain from the fall.

Riddle glares at Briar and says, "I did not appreciate you pushing me down like that."

"Sorry, but I just saved you from being barbecue," Briar says as she sits up, unaware that the hood she's wearing has fallen off.

Seeing Briar with the hood shocked Riddle, Azuel, in fact, everyone in the room, including Crowley.

Confused by Riddle's expression, Briar asks, "What? Do I have something on my face?"

Just then, Azul asks, "Hold on, you're a girl?"

"Uh yeah. I'm a girl, what of it?" Briar says, confused.

Riddle says, "Night Raven Collage is an all boys academy."

"Huh?" Briar says, confused.

Then says to herself, "I thought it was odd that most of the students I've seen are boys, now I know."

Then shakes her head, and says, "Forget about that, we gotta stop that crazy cat."

Then says, "And I think I have a plan on how to catch him."

Briar then whispers the two on the plan. They simply nod their heads in reply. The three then get up and begin to chase the cat. Grim sees them chasing him and runs away. With that, Riddle and Azul begin to fire their magic at him. They continue the chase as the cat runs away. Grim chuckles and turns around to see that there is nowhere else to go.

Grim panics. "Myah! It's a dead end!"

That gives Briar and the boys enough time to catch up to him.

Poor Soul. Run yourself straight into a corner, did you?" Azul comments.

"I suggest you surrender. Otherwise…" Riddle says.

Grim turns to them and says, "No! I'm gettin' into this school and that's FINAL!"

Then Riddle says, "Stand aside you two!"

Just then, Grim begins to get ready to unleash his power, "MYAAH!"
