I don't own anything and I wrote this instead of doing my work. If anyone can come up with a better title please let me know. I write and go with the flow. I have no idea what the ending is most of time and I suck at titles. No beta we die like men.
Luz groaned as the sun shone in her eyes. She huffed and rolled over in her sleep cocoon. King snored softly by her feet, the latina jealous the demon was sleeping and she wasn't.
She tossed and turned before giving up and laying on her back. She shifted uncomfortably before looking down at her blanket. Luz breathed through her nose slightly annoyed. Hidden under her blankets was a sizeable tent.
She reached a hand down and tried to adjust herself but to no avail. The tent stood stubbornly. She laid her head back down and waited for it to go away by itself.
Her mind wondered from the bulge in her blanket, to school and finally her friends. She broke into a small smile when she thought of Willow.
She's definitely the mom of the group. She giggled. Willow was the first friend she made. Luz held Willow in a special place in her heart.
Next came Gus. Gus was Luz's second friend but was no less important to the latina. He was amazingly smart but still a bit childish. Luz felt better knowing that Gus would be down with any schemes she had planned.
Finally, Amity. Luz felt her smile stretch even wider when she thought of the green-haired witch. Amity was mean when they first met, almost setting Luz's favorite beanie on fire. Everything changed when the fire nation attac- *Ahem* Everything changed during the library incident. Luz got to see a different of Amity then what she was used too.
Every now and then the two get on each others nerves but it was more playful than anything. Luz's smile dampened when she remembered Amity was still dating Boscha. Even after the grudgby match and all the bullying. What Amity saw in Boscha she would never know and she refused to think about why the two being together bothered her so much.
Luz was pulled from her thoughts when she heard Hooty screaming in terror. The latina looked down at the bulge. It was still there but less prominent. Good enough
Luz got up, careful not to disturb King. She adjusted her sweat pants before walking out of her room and down the stairs just in time to see Eda fling open the door.
Standing beyond the door was Amity. She usually bright gold eyes were damp with tears. The witch hugged herself as a last resort of comfort. Luz's heart clenched at the scene.
"Uh-" Eda said awkwardly. She looked around before her eyes landed on a stunned brunette. "You got this right kid? Okay good 'cause I have go... pickpocket some fools at the market. See ya!"
Eda slipped passed a crying Amity and jumped on her staff, becoming a blip in the sky before disappearing. Luz shook her head at her mentor and crossed the living room. A tan hand wrapped gently around a pale wrist and pulled the witch inside.
Luz carefully brought Amity to sit on the couch. The duo said nothing for awhile, the green haired witch's sniffles breaking the silence.
"Amity.." Luz started. Her voice soft and patient. She let go of the witch only for her hands to hover uncertainly. She had no idea how to comfort the crying girl. She bit her lip, she had one way but it was also a good way to get a black eye. Brown orbs took in how sad the girl looked. She decided, it was worth it. "Do you want a hug?"
Gold eyes finally lifted from staring at the floor and sought out warm brown. She was a Blight. Blights were not supposed to be crying on a couch after a breakup. With an enemy no less! Blights were strong. Blights were leaders. Blights showed no weakness and stomped out their competition.
Amity internally scoffed at that idea. She thought about the girl infront of her. She wasn't rich and didn't come from a legendary background. That she knew of at least. No, she was a normal human girl with more heart than brains. Despite their rough beginnings, Luz had given Amity something priceless she had been seeking. Sure the two would get on each others nerves but Luz was far from an enemy. A doofus sure but Amity wouldn't change a thing.
After a long pause that had Luz sweating and wondering if she over stepped her boundaries. Amity nodded.
Without a second thought Luz scooted closer and wrapped her arms around a slender frame. Amity returned the hug and buried her nose into Luz's shoulder. With the combination of Luz's scent and the warmth that radiated from the human, she melted. Her whole body relaxing as tension drained from her muscles.
Luz smiled slightly, giddy that a simple hug was enough to get Amity feeling slightly more at ease.
"This never happened. If you tell anyone I'm going to burn that stupid beanie of yours." Amity grumbled.
Luz let out an exaggerated gasp. "My beanie is not stupid. You're just jealous you don't have your own dope beanie."
Amity said nothing and buried her nose deeper into Luz's collar bone. The latina's heartbeat quickened when she felt hot breath on her neck. Her face fell when she felt movement in her pants and cringed slightly. Really? Now?
"So, are you feeling any better?" Her voice cracked with nerves. She pulled away slowly before throwing a leg over the other and attempting to look normal. Luz ignored the discomfort of crossing her legs and turned to look at Amity.
The girl infront of her wiped her eyes and mumbled a soft "Yeah."
If Amity noticed how Luz's voice cracked she didn't say anything to which Luz was grateful. Luz cleared her throat and asked. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Amity regained her composure and brought her knees up on the couch before hugging them. "Boscha and I broke up."
Luz ignored the fluttery feeling in her chest at the news. She wrung her hands nervously. "Oh..that's horrible?"
Amity chuckled. "Don't act like you care about her. She's the worst. It's okay, really."
Luz sighed in relief. "Okay good 'cause she's the worst." She turned to the face the witch, being mindful to hide her bulge with a random pillow that was on the couch. She leaned her elbows on the soft material as she leaned forward. "But how do you feel?"
Amity took a moment to reply. No one had really asked her she felt towards things. It was a new feeling but not necessarily a bad one. "A bit sad but mostly relieved. Sorry I had a bit of a mental breakdown infront of you. I know we're not really close but I didn't know where else to go."
Luz reached out and placed a hand on Amity's shoulder. "Hey, you shouldn't be sorry for having a breakdown. Everyone should have a breakdown every once and a while. It's bad to keep all that bottled up."
Luz smiled warmly. Amity took in her the human infront of her. The girl seemed to just radiate warmth even dressed in nothing more than white tank top and baggy pants. The witch felt her ears flap when she took in Luz's exposed shoulders, worked hard from carrying around bags of potions.
Amity chuckled quietly before dropping her knees and relaxing into the couch. She sat there with a thoughtful look on her face.
"I don't want to see Boscha right now and I don't want to go home." Amity played with a long strand of hair before she asked quietly. "Can we have an Azura club meeting?"
Just when Amity thought Luz's smile could not get any wider she was proven wrong. The human gasped and squealed excitedly. "Yes! Of course! I'll go get my book."
Amity rose a brow when Luz's expression of excitement turned to nervousness. Luz slowly got up still clutching the pillow.
"Let me just get dressed real quick I'll be back!"
The witch stared in confusion watching Luz turn around quickly before breaking into a full sprint up the stairs hunched over grasping the pillow like her life depended on it.
Amity shook her head and scoffed. "It must be a human thing."
