Emily was frantically running around her hotel room making sure she had everything for her flight the next day. Once she was certain she had all she needed she went to the kitchen, pouring herself a glass of wine before moving to the couch. Eventually she pulled out her phone, scrolling through the photos she took the night before at JJ's wedding, smiling slightly as she came across the ones of the group. She heard a knock at the door and groaned as she stood up, walking slowly over. She quickly looked through the peep hole and raised her eyebrow as she opened the door.

"How did you find me?" she asked.

JJ crossed her arms as she pushed past Emily and walked into the room.

"Oh yes, please do come in" Emily said sarcastically as she closed the door and turned to face JJ.

"I thought we were best friends" JJ said.

"We are."

"Then why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

"Don't play dumb with me Emily Prentiss. Why didn't you tell me that you were moving to London and that your flight was tomorrow?"

"Derek" Emily mumbled angrily as she walked back to the couch and sat down.

"Yes, Derek" JJ said as she followed Emily and sat down. "I had to find out from Derek your plan of leaving the country."

"How did that even come into the conversation?"

JJ rolled her eyes, slightly annoyed as Emily was clearly going to avoid addressing it for as long as possible. "Well, last night when I realised my best friend wasn't around anymore, I went and found Derek, I asked him where you had gone. He isn't really good at lying to me, so I knew he was hiding something and eventually he cracked."

"Geez, and I thought Garcia was bad."

JJ sighed "did I do something wrong? Do you hate me?"

Emily shook her head "I could never hate you JJ."

Tears filled JJ's eyes "then why didn't you tell me?"

"It was your wedding night; I didn't want to bring it up. Last night was a happy night for you and I didn't want to spoil it."

"So you only made the decision that you were defiantly leaving last night?"

"Yes."

"And you were just going to leave without saying goodbye to me?"

"Goodbyes are too hard."

JJ took a deep breath and bit her bottom lip, trying to hold back the tears. "Why would you do this? You know you're my best friend and you were going to leave without saying goodbye." JJ stood up angrily. "I don't care if goodbyes are too hard, you said goodbye to Derek, probably to everyone else as well. But not me? Clearly, I've done something to hurt you, but we should fix that before you leave" JJ said as the tears fell down her cheeks.

Emily got up from the couch and walked over to JJ, holding her hand out. JJ reluctantly took it as she wiped her eyes with her other hand. "JJ, you didn't do anything wrong I promise. I could never hate you" she gave JJ's hand a gentle squeeze. "You are a remarkable person with the biggest heart, I don't think anyone could ever hate you."

"Why are you leaving?"

"It's a really good opportunity JJ, I get to be chief at the Interpol office."

JJ nodded her head "why did you only decide last night? If it is such a great opportunity wouldn't you have made the decision when they first offered, you?"

"Reasons."

JJ sighed and pulled her hand from Emily's, walking back to the couch and sitting down. "Maybe I should just go" she said quietly.

Emily sighed and sat back down. "I wasn't sure if I was going to go, but when I walked around and was looking at everyone laughing and having a good night, I realised nothing has felt the same since I came back. You were all welcoming, and I loved getting to see you all again and work with you, but it just felt different. I need this JJ."

"Is there anything we did wrong? Something we can do differently?"

Emily shook her head "it's nothing you guys are doing, it's just different and I think a change might be good for me."

"I'm proud of you" JJ said as she put her head in her hands, looking down at the ground as tears filled her eyes again. "You'll be great at this job" she said quietly.

Emily got of the couch and knelt on the ground in front of JJ. "You know I'll visit, and you can always come to London, we can take a weekend trip to Paris."

JJ looked up, smiling slightly as Emily wiped the tears from her eyes. "Promise?"

"I promise Blackbird."

"Can we go to Italy?"

"Pasta and wine? Count me in" both girls laughed a little.

JJ tucked a strand of Emily's hair behind her ear, resting her hand on her cheek. Emily pulled away slightly and JJ raised her eyebrow, knowing Emily was never one to pull away from her touch. "What's going on?"

"Nothing" Emily said quietly as she stood up and went into the kitchen, JJ following closely behind her.

"Em.."

"Can we please just drop it?"

"No" JJ said, crossing her arms. "Because tomorrow you'll get on that plane and I'll be here, wondering what I did to hurt my best friend so much that she moves away from my touch."

"How many times do I have to tell you, you didn't do anything" Emily snapped.

"Clearly" JJ said as she began to walk to the front door.

Emily quickly walked after her, grabbing her arm and pulling her back. "Wait, I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry too" JJ said quietly "I shouldn't push you so much, but I just don't want you bottling up your feelings."

"I promise it's not you."

"Then why can't you tell me?"

"Because it will ruin something and I'd prefer not to do that."

"It involves me then, doesn't it?" JJ asked. Emily sighed as she let go of her arm walking back to the kitchen to get a bottle of water. "What are you so worried about Em? You know you're my best friend and nothing will change that."

Tears filled Emily's eyes, her back was to JJ and she mumbled "you married Will."

"What?" JJ asked as Emily turned around, JJ's heart broke when she saw the tears, she stepped closer and wiped her eyes.

"You married Will" she whispered.

"I did, why are we talking about that?"

"That's what I can't tell you.'

JJ titled her head "did you want to marry Will? I don't know if you'd be able to handle that, you always make fun of his accent" she said, laughing slightly to try and lighten the mood.

"Not Will."

JJ raised an eyebrow "me?"

Emily nodded her head as she looked down at the ground, nervous at how JJ was going to react. JJ's arms wrapped around Emily's neck, hugging her tightly as Emily's wrapped around her waist.

"I'm sorry JJ."

"Don't be sorry Em, it's okay" she said quietly. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I was too scared, and then I saw how happy you were with Will I just decided I didn't want to."

"I wish you did."

"It wouldn't have changed anything."

"It might have" JJ said quietly, pulling back as she looked at Emily. "I'm sorry, all this must have been so hard for you."

"It's okay" Emily said as she glanced up at the clock and realised how late it had gotten. "You should probably head home, it's late."

"Can I stay?"

"JJ.."

"Please Em, I want one last night with you, and I want to take you to the airport tomorrow." JJ rested her head on Emily's shoulder, tears filling both their eyes.

"Okay" Emily said quietly, as they stood there holding each other.

"Let's go watch a movie" JJ said as she took Emily's hand and they headed over to the bed, they both went to separate sides and sat down whilst JJ picked a movie, settling back against the pillows once she pressed play. Halfway through the movie JJ glanced over, looking at Emily.

"Why are you starring?" Emily asked, glancing over at JJ.

"Just taking in what my best friend looks like so I don't forget."

Emily rolled her eyes "take a picture, it will last longer."

"Can i?"

"JJ, you have plenty of photos of me and us."

JJ pulled out her phone and scooted closer to Emily "one more" she said as she opened the camera, they both smiled, and she snapped the photo. JJ looked at the photo before turning her head to look back at Emily "perfect" she said quietly as she looked from Emily's eyes to her lips. "Can I kiss you?"

"That's not a good idea" Emily said quietly.

"But you want to."

"More than anything."

JJ placed her hand on Emily's cheek, their lips just millimetres from each other "me too."

"JJ, this isn't a good idea. You are married" she said, sighing slightly.

JJ thought for a minute before she leaned down, placing her lips against Emily's. The kiss was soft and filled with passion. Both girls pulled away as the tears filled their eyes once again. "I'm sorry" JJ said.

"Don't be" Emily said, smiling slightly as she kissed JJ's forehead. "I'm thankful to have had one kiss from you."

JJ smiled as she lied down, resting her hand on Emily's chest as she drew circled across her stomach, Emily running her fingers through JJ's hair. After a couple of minutes both girls had drifted off to sleep.

The next morning was filled with silence, neither girl knowing what to say to the other. JJ helped Emily load her stuff into her car and they drove to the airport in silence. Once their JJ unloaded the stuff and looked at Emily. "Can I come in with you?" she asked.

"I'd like that" Emily said as they wheeled her suitcases into the airport and got them checked in. The girls then went and ordered a coffee from Starbucks and sat by the window, watching the planes take off and land. "You know this isn't goodbye."

"I know, but it's still sad. I'll go from seeing you every day at work to hardly seeing you at all. Having you live half an hour away to now being a flight away. It's going to be different" she said sadly.

Emily reached over and JJ held on hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I'll miss you, more than anything blackbird. I promise I'll come visit, and I expect you to come visit" she said as she sent a message to JJ's phone.

JJ glanced down at the message that appeared on her phone "what's this?"

"It's a ticket, it doesn't have a specific date so you can choose when you want to redeem it but it's a return flight to London."

JJ looked back up and smiled at Emily "you truly are incredible. London is really lucky to have you Emily Prentiss."

The two girls continued drinking their coffee and chatting until it was time for Emily to head off. JJ went as far as she was allowed, holding onto Emily's arm as they walked through the airport. "Well this is it" Emily said as she came to a stop.

Tears instantly filled JJ's eyes "you were right, goodbyes are hard."

"Hey" Emily said quietly.

"Right, right. This isn't goodbye, it's see you later" JJ said, chuckling slightly.

Emily wrapped her arms around JJ, pulling her into a tight hug as tears filled her own eyes. "correct" she said.

JJ held her tightly as the tears rolled down her cheeks. "I love you Emily Prentiss, forever and always."

"I love you too Jennifer Jareau" she pulled back and wiped JJ's cheeks, leaving her hands there. "I'll see you soon, okay?"

"Okay" JJ whispered, trying to hold back more tears.

Emily looked at her and felt her own heart ache as a few tears fell down her cheeks "as much as I loved you coming with me, maybe it wasn't such a great idea."

"Selfishly, I was hoping you would change your mind" she said chuckling slightly.

Emily laughed a little "I'm always a phone call or a text message away. Even if it's three am and you just want to say hello."

JJ smiled "you won't go making a new best friend, right?"

"No one could ever replace you."

"Good" JJ said as she gave Emily one last hug.

"Goodbye" Emily whispered as they pulled away and Emily began walking to the next area. Her phone started vibrating and she stopped walking, pulling it out of her pocket. "Hello?"

"I miss you already and I forgot something" JJ said through the line.

Emily looked up and saw JJ running to her, she jumped into Emily's arms. "What did you forget?" Emily asked as she held her.

"It's selfish of me."

Emily new what she was talking about and smiled "it's okay. One more for the road." Emily tilted her head up as JJ smashed their lips together. The kiss was quick and once they pulled away Emily set JJ back onto the ground.

"Okay, you better go now" JJ said quietly.

Emily smiled and kissed JJ's cheek "goodbye blackbird."

"Goodbye Em" JJ said as she watched Emily walk away.
